Bull! There's nothing character-driven about what's happening in the S/B/K storyline. The current "triangle" is stupid and lazy writing. The writers tossed Billie in as a roadblock and the viewers are supposed to accept their "insta-love" as remotely making sense.

If Steve were pushing Kayla away because he doesn't know who he is or what kind of life he's been leading for the last 16 years or because he simply cannot consider trying to put his life back together with her until he unravels what happened to him or any one of a dozen other reasons that would actually, you know, make sense? I would be all over it. I would be wanting it to last a good long time.

I've never been one who wants just schmoopy-gooey-love for Steve and Kayla. Some of my very favorite storylines for them in the past have been the storylines where they were apart. The time when Kayla stopped Steve from killing his low-life father and then his father turned round and raped his sister? That was a character-driven story. Steve couldn't get past his blood. His father was a violent man, a bad man. Steve was a lot like his father. He rejected Kayla because he couldn't deal with it (and because he blamed her for stopping him from killing his father) and they were apart for months. It was an amazingly well-written storyline. So was the storyline when Steve pushed Kayla toward Jack because Jack was dying and needed a reason to live. It was a brutal, ugly storyline in which Steve treated Kayla like crap and ended in Kayla being raped by Jack. But it was complex and gripping and SN, MBE and MA put 110% into that storyline. It was so well done and so awful that I can't rewatch some of those scenes even today. It lasted for months and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

If I were just wanting them to write for the couple, I'd be over the moon over the S&K spoilers for the next few weeks. Actually, I'm kind of meh about it. It's all too fast now. Insta-love doesn't make me any happier when it's Steve and Kayla. I don't just want happy-happy-joy-joy. I like to watch my characters work for their happiness. I love the angst. I just want angst that makes freaking SENSE.

Billie/Steve insta-love make no sense. The writers haven't even made the slightest attempt to make it make sense. And I find that very annoying. Give me good, complex, character-driven stories that MAKE SENSE and I'll be one happy S&K fan, whether they're together or estranged.

Don't make assumptions about why I feel what I feel.

Yeah -- what she said!!!! :D

And Julie Pinson is totally pinging my preggo-dar! I hope I'm right -- she and Billy would make cute parents, IMHO.

Oh, wordity word word. The S/K SL is the main one right now that's driving me nuts. I think overall Hoagie is doing a bang up job, but DAMN please get the S/K story moving! Steve's insta-interest in Billie doesn't make sense the way they're writing it (it maybe would make sense if they'd illustrate a "Nick" waging an internal fight as he struggles with the "Steve" part of himself). And Billie's insta-luuuuuuuurve for The Pirate doesn't make sense either, and it makes the character look pathetic, IMO. The whole thing sucks.

It looks like the writers have tried to address the insta-love by having Nick/Steve realize that his memories of Kayla didn't bring emotions the way his memory of Stephanie did, and that maybe that has to do with what happened to him before he became "Nick". But that ONE mention of that aspect of the SL was, what, a couple of weeks ago? If the writers are going to explain "Nick"'s attraction to Billie and seeming rejection of Kayla by saying something happened when he was being brainwashed (or whatever), then they need to get a freaking move on that SL pronto...the glacial pace of the current SL is driving me nuts.

Other than that, I think the show is vastly improved. I really enjoyed yesterday's show, except for one thing:

WHY ON EARTH DID BILLIE LET CHELSEA KEEP THAT LAPTOP AFTER TELLING HER THAT THERE WAS A "ZERO TOLERANCE" POLICY NOW? I love JP, but I raelly hate the way Billie is being written lately. She's obsessed with The Pirate for no reason, and she needs to -- you act like a mother to her daughter instead of just talking like a mother.
