  1. Big defeats for Republicans. I wonder if these two measures are signs to come. Personally, I think whoever wins the Republican nom is going to get blast next year by Obama and his campaign. How anyone can put Romney or any of the other candidates over this POTUS is beyond me. Not trying to get anything started, but none of them have NO PLAN whatsoever.

  2. The polls show Cain staying with Romney, even though Romney has now gained 5 points over him. Many who support Cain really don't care. Which says something about me when it comes to how much some of his supporters blame the women for what happen. As far as OWS and the other movements throughout the country, hell, right on if they can keep it going. The same thing happened with the civil rights movement. Sometimes people get so damn fed up that they feel they have to beat the streets and shout to the heavens about how they are being treated in their own country. The inequality is worse now than probably at any time in our nation's history. All these charletons we have sent to our Congresses better take heed.....we are mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore.

Love Network. One of my all-time favorite films.

  3. Well, even though I understand what you mean, Brian, liberal, conservative....no matter what, I find her an ambulance chaser against the rich and powerful. Now, if you decided to do whatever foul crap you are doing, then don't be surprised when your dirt comes out now. Cain deserves what he's going through, and now, there may be women coming out of the woodwork because of the way he handles himself. It's never what you do....

    It's always the cover-up.

  4. Money can be that circumstance. But, seeing this man act like he is could be motivation enough. Although, when Alred attaches herself to someone, it's nothing about anything else but dollar signs. She just so happens to be right on some occasions (Schwarzenegger).

  5. Cain, along with the entire GOP candidate list, IMO, don't mind making fools out of themselves. I remember a few Dems who did it as well, but off the top of my head, I can't remember the last time a Democratic candidate was pushed by the CNM having so many flaws as these people do. Cain is the black Clinton. And even though he lied under oath (which I feel he should have never done), Cain seems to think in his arrogance that he will fore peole to stop talking about it.

And the ultra-right wing of the party is continuing to show where they are on race. It's no where close to where the majority of Americans (I assume) are at.

  6. McCain changed all of his policies to have a credible chance of getting elected.

Which to this day i do not understand. I liked the guy who ran against Bush in the 2000 primaries. That was a common sense man there. I was even considering voting for him because that man then had the backbone to question his own party, something you barely see now. And then, he must have been told or decided on his own to turn hard right and turn off many Americans who liked him for his convictions. I still feel that had he stayed the man he was, he would have beaten Obama. But, I saw in 2008 like I see now.....this man is no where close to his old self, and he just scared the hell out of me.

  7. I still wonder why all this state and federal money was spent to build all of these Supermax prisons nationwide and the populations are not near full capacity. I also agree with the non-violent crimes. Our prison system is populated with non-violent offenders, to me, that is something that should be ended. It proves every day that that is nothing but a business. The big wigs make a ton of money based on the prison population, and I feel they are in league with the pols and such to make sure these jails and prisons are full to overcrowded.

  8. I'll say this, Alpha. I think moderate conservatives are against that. But, that party has been hijacked by the ultra-right. The Limbaugh-Coulter-O'Reilly-Fox News wing of the party. I would love to see moderate Republicans take back hold of the party, so we can truly have some bi-partisan legislation being past. You see how it's already started...Boehner made some comment about Norquist. They are doing the same thin they have done in the past...backing away from all their previous stances. If we can get some common sense Republicans in there, who really do want to work with this POTUS on behalf on the people, every one wins.

  9. You are putting words in my mouth, Roman, as I never said that I dislike McCaskill for not being liberal enough; rather, that was a criticism that I have heard from liberal commentators and bloggers/posters. I do appreciate the fact that you finally explained why you have a problem with her.

What really upsets me is this double standard that you seem to have: while blasting me for making assumptions of what others think, you yourself seem to have no problem doing so (given that you have already suggested that I seem to judge senators based on how conservative or liberal they are, and given that you have suggested that the Republican agenda is to suppress the black vote in the South).

With all due respect, you seem to still be pretty immature yourself. So if you no longer want to talk politics with me, I would be fine with that.

THANK YOU! I can see everyone else in this forum acting like an adult, but you. NOBODY HERE should have to explain something to you all the time. Then, hell, you flip-flop more than a dying fish in a boat with how you post your comments. I've seen others here make a real effort to change the garbage we all were a part of 3 years ago...except you. You can have whatever views yuou have (too bad i never figured out what they were), and the rest of us will talk grown up talk.

    Have a blessed day, Max.

Wasn't this the same WS that Cain told us not to blame for our ills? Sorry, I guess he has other things on his mind right now. LOL!

  10. I can shed some light on the Marajuana thing. the reason that it is not put into a pill form is that since Marajuana is a herb, and not a man made chemical, legally, it cannot be patented. So therefore, there's not enough money in it for the drug companies to want to mess with. What they DID do, was attempt to chemically synthesize the chemical in Marajuana, THC... and they do have that patented... but like most things man made, it doesn't work very well... it's not quite the same. the drug is called Marinol. Many think that making marajuana completely legal, and taxing the hell out of it would be something that would be a boon to struggling state economies. I have to agree.... and I am the most anti-subsatnce person you will ever meet. i've never smoked a cigarette, no drugs, no alcohol, I don't even drink COFFEE.

Thank you! That is what doing some research is all about! Bless you, because I honestly didn't know. Also, Brian, Lee was allergic to a chemical in the OTC pill called equagesic [sic] and that is what caused his death. Sorry. I didn't include that. I do not and will not agree that all illegal drugs should be legalized, but I still don't understand why marijuana cannot, since it is the only herbal drug (to my knowledge) that is used for medical purposes. And yes, if taxed, could be a serious boon for our economy.

  11. Well, I don't doubt that the effects of marijuana helps some terminal patients with pain... But the people I see pushing for legalization (ie: protests, waving signs and banners, petitions, etc.) look to be some of the most fit and active among us. It's confusing to me. And I agree, if there is money to be made from something, including legalizing certain narcotics, lawmakers would jump on it. They haven't - even in California - for a reason... Not sure what it is, but it certainly suggests a need for more research. The dangers of OTC pills and the greedy pharmaceutical companies notwithstanding, I need to know why an FDA-approved pill that meets legal requirements and is safe can't accomplish for those in need what smoking a join will do. I'm all for making any medicinal properties in weed available to those in need in an appropriate way... but I would definitely like to know the answers to these questions...

As for the possibilities of a sit-in in Sacto... I know I'm going to take heat for saying this... but some of us can't go and protest because we have jobs. Now, I'm not blatantly stating that all protesters (tea party or ows) are all unemployed bums... but I often wonder how a person can facilitate hanging out somewhere for days or even months with responsibilities at home. Just wonderin'...

Well, allot may be former students, many are hippies from the 60s, and many more are unemployed. My guess. Shoot i don't know all these people. Hell, I don't know even one. LOL! Just guessing. But I still see your point.

As for the marijuana....just like any other social service plan, we will have those who just want to use it for very selfish reasons, like just getting blasted to the far winds. Lot of bong heads who just want free marijuana. That's why I'm seeing that it should be in prescription form, from a certified doctor. It will not mean that people won't be able to get around it. Nothing is perfect, but it'll be a start.

  12. California is toast, Roman. LOL... Seriously. There is no hope for my state. It's a shame... such a beautiful place, but it has been run into the ground. Schwarzenegger sucked as governor, so does Brown. Of course, it doesn't really matter who is in the governor's mansion because the state legislature runs things... into the ground. They don't seem to get that there IS NO MONEY. I'm not quite sure what they're doing in Sacramento each day, frankly.

Hmm... legalizing weed... big deal here these days. For the longest time, some dude was stationed outside of the nearby Walmart, petition in hand, looking for signatures to reverse a local county ordinance banning larger medical marijuana stores (or whatever you call them). The local ordinance states that no more than a certain amount should be available... or something like that.

You know, if things would get magically better by legalizing marijuana or any other substance currently classified as illegal I might be all for it. But I seriously need someone to answer this question for me, because I'm lacking knowlege on this... I have wondered why a marijuiana "pill" won't work to ease pain in a terminal patient or take the edge off... whatever... and that only SMOKING weed helps. If it is about the "substance", why isn't it satisfactory to produce a pill one could take to achieve the same effect as smoking grass? I also don't get why, in some instances, the very same people advocating the legalization of marijuana are demanding that cigarettes should be banned... Seems hypocritical to me. Not that I'm a big nicotine fan... or alcohol (gasp, shock!) for the matter... curious as to your thoughts on this, Roman... and anyone else reading this.

I guess I could be called a dull and boring person... Never smoked pot or cigarrettes... never had an interest. And I don't really like the taste of alcohol. Sipped some wine last month while on vacation and my tastes haven't changed... still didn't like it!

Dull? Boring? YOU? Please. I thought you were talking about me. LOL! I agree with you about a weed 'pill', but i also think that unless the legal drug industry can get their hands on something like this and make a significant monetary windfall, it won't happen. Remember when W. outlawed going to Canada or internationally to get prescriptions drugs for a much cheaper price? IMO, he did it for no other reason than helping his cronies in the industry achieve record profits, which they did.

I still remember reading about Bruce Lee. When he dies, the autopsy showed he had canibus is his system. he suffered from severe migraine headaches, brought on by his rigorous training. He had lost so much weight and had so little body fat (if any) that it caused his MHs. The ONLY thing that brought him any comfort was marijuana. But, the over-the-counter pill he took the night he died swelled his brain, and it pressed so hard against his skull that it led to his death.

Amazing, isn't it? the marijuana helped relieve his pain, but the OTC pill took his life.

I feel that any state Congress would legalize a goat sitting on the top on a counter at a McDonald's if they could get some type of tax money from it.

I also never understood how just smoking weed can relieve some of the painful symptoms that many people get. I feel there are and have been cures to many diseases that ail us all, but as long as the pharmaceutical companies are making their billions, we will NEVER see the light of day with these drugs. Brian, maybe you all in the great Cali. need to peacefully go and do a sit-in in Sacramento. maybe if they heard you all, all walks of life, they will listen. There are many here in Mo. and Ill. who have planned to do that very thing.

  13. Tell you what, max. When you elaborate why McCaskill is not liberal enough (your words) then I'll tell you why Most Missourians can't stand (not being available for her constituents, never being the state, the private plane fiasco, voting against the cash-back car legislation 2 years ago, no transparency at all). Oh, sorry. I just listed the reasons. Now, if they are not to your liking, I am sorry, and cannot and WILL not do anything about that. But I am starting to realize that talking politics with you is not a positive experience. you see others in this forum talking politics with some candor and respect. Not saying that you don't, but you seem to calling people out on almost every comment, like they should always explain themselves to you. I'm now at the point where i will no longer do that with you, max. I believe what i believe. If a case can be made to me, or I to others, for others to t least understand where each of us is coming from (while still seeing things differently), i welcome that.

But i will not come on here every single time to explain myself to you. Sorry, Max. That day, along with the days of me acting like an immature idiot towards anyone who disagrees with me, are done. Over and out. I hope you can see what I'm saying. I truly hope this.

  14. With all due respect, Alpha... do you live in the San Joaquin Valley of California? You can research this issue, but unless you live here and have driven the I-5 corridor regularly to see what's up there, it makes it pretty tough to do more than speculate as to the situation here. Onions, garlic, grapes and olives are all grown here in our dry conditions. However, some irrigation is needed even for crops that like more arid conditions. Ever heard of the California aqueduct? An elaborate system for water deliveries was built here and, in my opinion, that it ISN'T being utilized to its full potential is outrageous - still worse, that this creates a negative economic impact in terms of goods and employment in a state that is already broke is outrageous.

If anyone has ever stopped to wonder why California is in such dire straits need only look at the water delivery situation as an example. Someone asked me my opinion of Governor Brown... I didn't vote for him, however I can't blame the current mess on him... or at least totally on him (a previous stint as governor was less than sterling and may have contributed to current issues), but our state legislature is squarely to blame for the economic disaster that has befallen California. The lawmakers in Sacramento make the US Congress look good... damn good. And that's a pretty pathetic statement.

All of this said, it should be noted that the situation moderately improved this past year following a particularly wet winter... and last year's congressional elections. Seriously. Representative Jim Costa, a Democrat, successfully lobbied to get more water delivered to farmers... finally... when his chances for reelection look slim. And he pulled it off... just barely.

Brian, I didn't realize they were that bad in your state. And I thought our Congress here in Mo. was full with nothing but partisan zombies who only know what they want pushes through instead of what is best for the people of the state.

Also, how do you feel about Cali. legalizing weed?

  15. I wouldn't take Wolf Blitzer's word on ANYTHING, but beyond that, I wouldn't say Romney is a political weakling. The media worships him, they always have (I remember one reporter gushing over how just being in the room with his masculine strength made them go aflutter), he has tons of money, and he's a robot. The media love Republican Presidents because it fulfills their insecurities about "strong father" and look, there's GWB in his flight suit, isn't he a stud, and so on.

It says a lot about Romney that he hasn't closed this up yet. Everything has gone his way.

WB used to be, in my eyes, and fine journalist. I don't know what happened, but he sure does let pols slide when it comes to certain statements and words spoken. It disappoints me. Bt, CNN has been looking for a path now for the last 4 years. Their higher ups don't seem to know which way they want to go, and trying to be all things doesn't seem to be working. But, when you hire a complete azz like Eric Erikson.....there is no wonder, for me at least, why I no longer watch that channel.

Trey Grayson was Kentucky's Secretary of State from 2004-2011, and ran against Rand Paul in the Republican primary last November to replace the retiring Jim Bunning in the U.S. Senate.

In January of this year, Grayson resigned as Sec. of State and took a position at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Thanks, Scotty. I knew that name was familiar. LOL!

  16. No Max, don't apologize.

Your comment just showed to me, with respect, that you did jump and you honesty have no idea about how we here IN MISSOURI feel about her. And, sometimes, liberal or conservative doesn't even enter into the equation. I guess it does for you, but it doesn't for me. We here. IN MISSOURI, feel she is a very bad senator. Ok? We want her voted out. That's how WE feel. So, maybe in the future, my friend, you could kinda work on jumping to conclusion and just, maybe, ask those of us who live in the state how we may feel first before just assuming what the reason may be about why i or anyone else may or may not particularly like a certain pol.

Rand Paul is an oddity and I can easily see him not running for another term or losing to a well-funded primary challenger.

McConnell is the king of Kentucky politics (even if he isn't what he used to be - if he was Trey Grayson would be with him in the Senate), so I doubt he is going anywhere until he wants to.

So no primary challenge at all? Whew. Well, you can't change the mind of someone who doesn't want to have it changed, I guess. LOL!

Why does that name Trey Grayson sound familiar?
