I still feel losing that battle over Frankie to JFP & MdP as vividly as I think of things from this past year. And, over & over again new EPs were brought in with mandates to cut the size of the cast, make the cast younger over all, save money, shake things up, etc. Half the time they were working at cross purposes! Fans really don't like change. Yet change was what was thrust at them with every changeover in PTBs! Many AW fans completely left fandom with the demise of Frankie. The trauma was too great.

Irna knew what she wanted with AW but she couldn't write it herself. Someone gave James Lipton a shot at the show & he got rid of the elder statesmen of the Matthews. Created a family called the Gregorys. In the nick of time NBC hired Agnes to write the show. (First they turned her down on her own show, AMC.) Agnes did what she always said was the hard thing to do, which was to put her seat in the chair (in front of her dictaphone) and wrote and saved the show, creating the best triangle while doing it - Rachel, Steve & Alice. Oh, yeah, she killed off the Gregorys. As writers went, James Lipton was an excellent host to the Actor's Studio.

All this weekend I kept asking myself WHY aren't we all traumatized by this terrible wasteful death?!! We're mad. We're indignant. We think we know better than TPTB what should have been done instead. All thinking, no feeling. Didn't touch us. How badly can someone botch a death of a popular legacy character? I guess we're seeing how badly Ron Can.

Well, I don't know if it's shallow but she sure has! By blood she's a Horton, by blood and by name she's a Deveraux and by marriage she's one of the new generations of DiMera! I don't know any way she could be more legacy. I guess we could say that she's the mother of a new generation yet again of DiMeras, as she has 2 children that we know! If we make up a word, she is the most legacious of all possibilities onscreen. This waste of a character life is as bad as it gets!
