So, when is it that Terry Lester broke down on the stand? Not now, I guess. Months from now, huh?

2024: The Directors and Writers Thread
I can't figure it out. What is a BDW & a SW? As of the last day of Alarr as a Director I thought I was seeing a new pattern develop at DAYS & now they just shot it full of holes. Guess it wasn't a pattern after all. (3 in a row) Nyah, just seeing things. I was thinking maybe it was because they tape 8 shows per week, so some days involve 3 separate shows & maybe the Director does all the shows on their day. But, just ignore this. 1-30-24 D-Albert Alarr 1-31-24 D-Sonia Blangiardo Goins 2-1-24 D-Sonia Blangiardo Goins 2-2-24 45 D-Sonia Blangiardo Goins 2-5-24 D-Scott McKinsey 2-6-24 D-Scott McKinsey 2-7-24 D-Noel Maxam 2-8-24 D-Noel Maxam 2-9-24 D-Noel Maxam 2-12-24 D-Noel Maxam 2-13-24 D-Sonia Blangiardo Goins 2-14-24 D-Scott McKinsey 2-15-24 D-Angela Tessinari 2-16-24 D-Noel Maxam 2-19-24 D-Scott McKinsey

I understand. And, I understood your GIF. Completely. I guess it's because I know him well from both DAYS & GH discussions that I feel like ... giving another chance? But, I also am not wanting to prolong something unnecessarily. So, I will just see what he says & then, I will leave it be.

I never saw anyone say who the scab writers were. I tried to find out. No, not possible. The strike material was not by either Korte or Patrick Mulcahey. Korte was on strike like the rest of the writing team & PM was living presumably comfortably with his husband not involved at all with any soap. If Korte had written during the strike which she would not have done & which the show would not have allowed she'd have had to secretly do so remotely. But that is an unrealistic speculation, nothing more & not really worthy of consideration. I do know that there was a rumor supposedly from some of the mostly oddball FB groups that indeed Korte & PM were the scab writers & the reason Dan & Chris were fired was because they went out on strike. I'll tell you what I told some good friends on Twitter who believed this utter nonsense that there is absolutely no truth to it. It is bunk. Hooey. Someone's crazy uninformed speculation. Now, I'm not getting onto you for asking the question. Any serious question is valid.

Now here's something with a great degree of fan agreement!!! Josh really isn't Roman. Certainly not OG Roman & not even Roman when John Black thought that was who he was. So, there are 2 Romans, right there. But, Josh would have to be a third Roman & he doesn't even seem to manage that. Here is one "recast" that was & continues to be A Bad Idea. I believe it only happened because Josh is a personal friend of Ken Corday's. And like some of GHFrank's odd casting choices, this is a really odd choice made by Corday. As fans we are stuck with it, but we sure do resist.

Oh, but I did. I read a ton of posts from you on this topic. What you've said is what lead me to believe that you are caught up in Bradley's net. Do you disagree that he exploits his fans with writing like this? And as for being offended, you are siding with rape & with rapists. Given a chance to reconsider, you do not. Given an out where you could say something different, you say the same things. When it's pointed out that the issue of criminality is moot. You say nothing. You just repeat what you've already said about criminality as if this were a case that would ever see the inside of a courtroom, which it would not. What would you say if you completely left the issue of criminality out of a single reply? Yet you did & you do excuse this rapist. I'm just really disappointed. And you are mad. It's more enjoyable not to be disappointed or to be mad. Bottom line this is the writer's fault. I'm sure he likes to stir fans up. You should be mad at him. I know I would be disappointed in him except I believe he has exploited his own fans before. So I am cynical & have no expectation that he is above writing crap like this. Just like that old saw that there is no such thing as bad publicity. He thinks as long as the fans are watching & discussing that he is doing the right thing. I don't agree.

THIS ⬆️⬆️⬆️ And I hope that people will be open to the idea that Frank is in favor of this. I know that your minds are made up that this change came out of some sort of intervention whether that be some unknown Disney honcho or Varni with the force of Disney behind him. It's a bit odd when something like this comes out of a strike. But Frank does pay attention & what he saw with the scab writers was reaction both from the fans & from the support teams at the studio. In like fashion he saw reaction at the studio when Dan & Chris returned & immediately went back into their MO. So he was primed & ready when he had what you have to call his "come to Jesus" moment. Personally I think he let them go on far too long & I wonder if the damage can be repaired. But I am grateful that he wanted this change & I agree that it's going to knock him out of his producing comfort zone but I am guardedly optimistic that he is open, seeing that what was once working no longer was.

Oh, I so loved Ed Mallory. My favorable memories of him go back to the very beginning of the show & I was a teenager & he was one of many very blue-eyed men with very melodic voices that stand out so in those memories. Paul Newman, Ed Mallory, Robert Newman, deep dark blue eyes that are kind & go on forever. And deep, gravelly voices. Later, with the recast Christopher Stone also had those deep dark baby blues & that same kind of warm but scratchy timbre to his voice,. Mallory played such a kind, intentional man that his rape of Laura was all the more heart-breaking to watch. And, Mallory & Susan Flannery as a couple were just choice!

I just chased Nathan Varni's posts at least as far back as early as mid-September 2023 & I believe that the strike ended in Sept. Frank & many others at the studio were very acutely aware of differences as of the time the strike was over & D&C were back in attendance. Edit: Strike End 9-23-23. Then, following a timeline, if you will, next Frank and whomever else became more serious in thinking about taking action on the Writing as of shortly before Christmas when D&C's material hit the air. Jan. 4th was the primetime special & that was when they went public with the return of Jason. In that immediate time frame they also taped Jackie Zeman's memorial & about 6 of them got covid. Also they had the Emmys. Jan. 17th was when D&C submitted the Jason re-entry script that was not accepted & was in fact thrown out 100%. They got the word at that time. Korte was set to begin a new script, posthaste. Someone talked to PM. Friday 19th D&C were formally let go. Mon. 22nd the press was notified. Here is your timeline.- The Doctors Discussion Thread
I was watching & I just discovered that I can watch it off of the website instead of off my Roku. And, 6:30 is incredibly bad time for me so I've decided to start over, at the beginning & watch off of the website. So, right now I'm caught in between.- GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread
What's odd about it? There is no reason why some specific information should be heard about. There's just no rhyme nor reason why some things are heard about & some are not. Some things like the new writers there were lots & lots of leaks. Some things are a surprise. And, then, also they say NLG has yet to meet a secret she can keep. But, again, that's what they say. I have no basis for judging it. I just laugh about it.- GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread

It was out this weekend several places, this photo of NAC with this text superimposed about him being back in May. And, this fan had posted it & I inquired where the information came from & they told me that this other fan who follows Katherine/Chad on their IG said it was on the Katelyn/Chad Willow family IG that Spencer will be back in May. So to me it is double hearsay. But the claim is the actors who play Willow & Michael are who has said it. There is no way to even begin to call it credible. That's why I referred to it as chatter. The only part of any of this that confirms something else is from the Zoom. Avery Pohl said it was about 6 months ago when they told her they were restructuring the show & that dovetails perfectly with when I was told they were trying to decide what to do with the Cassadines. And why Adam Huss does not have a contract.- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
Maloney, M., & Bell, L. P. (2012). The Young and Restless Life 0f William J. Bell. Sourcebooks, Inc. After a decade with Irna, Bill was ready for a new challenge. One arrived when Betty Corday, wife of the late Ted Corday, a former ATWT director & co-creator of Days of Our Lives, contacted Bill about taking over the head writing duties at Days of Our Lives. The NBC serial, which featured the beloved Horton clan, had been struggling in the ratings and was headed for cancellation. ... "It was the moment of truth," recalled Bill, who talked Betty's offer over with Lee before accepting it. ... The fact that Days hadn't found its creative footing yet actually made the opportunity even more attractive. Irna wasn't happy with Bill's choice. At the time, though, she privately thought that he would fail & the show would be canceled & he'd be back. However, what happened was very different & Bill & his mentor lost touch. She also thought that Bill was driven because Lee made more money than he did. Bill never failed to honor the contributions Irna had made to his career. Later saying, "None of us do anything of consequence alone. Like Agnes Nixon, I, too, had that legend of all legends, Irna Phillips, who invested a lot of herself in me." p. 42 Bill, in fact, viewed going to Days in a positive light. He was, after all, leaving Irna's employ to save a show that she, along with Ted Corday, had created. And save it he did. p.59 In 1966 Bill left Irna's employ & went to work for Betty Corday. Bill's history with the Cordays went way back. Ted was a director at ATWT. Betty worked in the Casting Dept. at ATWT. "Ted was a superb director whose unique rapport & sensitivity with actors is legendary," Bill said. "His ability to extract every ounce of drama & emotion from the written word was a writer's dream. Betty, partner to Ted, was an equally dedicated mother, as well as a writer and a producer & a very powerful force in her own right. Each was the ultimate complement to each other. p.60 Betty asked Bill to save her husband's show in 1966. Irna & NBC execs asked Bill why he was risking the sure thing of working at top-rated ATWT to take on ratings-plagued Days, which was about to be canceled. "I knew there was a chance of that happening," Bill said, adding enigmatically, "but what better time to take over a show?" First off, he made casting changes. Hired Susan Flannery. Hired Denise Alexander. Hired Susan Seaforth Hayes. Immediately, Julie's boyfriend David got her best friend Susan pregnant due to a mistaken drunken evening. They all decided David would marry Susan & divorce later after the baby was born. Things were not to go well at all for poor little baby Dickie. David was supposed to be watching him & he fell off the swing & broke his neck. So Susan temporarily lost her mind & killed David. So, now, Julie & Susan are no longer best friends. Lee Philip Bell was Bill's inspiration for the character of Laura! "Not her experiences, but the person, the being," Bill revealed in 1973. "When Bill was in charge of the decision-making in casting, it was assumed that you were a good actress before you got there," Seaforth Hayes recalls. "This wasn't a training ground for neophytes." SSH tells about her audition, a confrontation between Julie Williams and Susan Martin. (Funny, you'd think that would be Julie Olson.) "It was a very trying & emotional scene which involved anger, threats & hysterics. Julie was trying to give Susan a heart attack. Instead, she brought about her own labor pains." At DAYS Bill didn't have the power that Irna had with P&G. He had to submit his stories to NBC. He planned to tell the story of the two brothers, Bill & Mickey, both in love with Laura. NBC said, "No, not doing it." He replied, "Then, I want a signed release from you that you will never use this story on any other show on NBC." Bill's bold bluff worked & he got to do the story! Lin Bolen, the NBC Daytime exec who was portrayed by Faye Dunaway in Network, wanted Bill to do a particular story. He thought it was wrong but he tried it & could not continue. "He told me that he would never do that again," Susan Flannery shared. Bill wrote a key scene where Bill is at a bar playing the song "Laura" on the juke box. This was the theme song from the Gene Tierney movie also named "Laura". In it the words said, "Laura, she's only a dream." Bill was drunk & morose over the marriage between Laura & his brother Mickey. Laura, a doctor, was sleeping in the "on call" room at the hospital. Bill found her there & got her up. Sleepily, she listened as he told her about the song & that she is NOT a dream! Then, it happened. It was left to interpretation whether the sex was consensual. Bill Bell thought that it was. (This directly disputes what we saw happen!)- B&B: February 2024 Discussion Thread
At DAYS, the famous story where Laura was loved by two brothers but she married one, Mickey. And, Bill raped her. Watching it there is no question. And the story goes on & it is probably Bell's most famous story at DAYS. Maloney, M., & Bell, L. P. (2012). The Young and Restless Life 0f William J. Bell. Sourcebooks, Inc. This directly disputes what we saw happen! Later she & Bill got together, married & had a daughter Jennifer Rose. Yes, she married her rapist.- ALL: Lack of Body Diversity on Soaps
Such a good topic. Like you, on GL I loved Ashlee in general & on her own & then when they did that pairing they were so good together. Of course, I had previously also really liked Coop, on his own & as a person. I'm aware of Marcie & know of her pairing with Micheal. Also same of Nancy & Craig. I think they really did a serious mishandling of things to use Craig as they did in that story. They should have used another couple.- B&B: February 2024 Discussion Thread
Right & I went on to say that of course there could be need for discussion about other situational aspects. Did you see where I said that? To you I'm just going to say that I tried but I think you are just intent on being right instead of actually being people talking to each other. Again, you immediately turn to criminality. Surely you've noticed that's not what other people are focused on. But, to you it is the be all & end all of this discussion. To others it is about rape & victims & people's feelings & that is what is essential, not criminality. There is no way that those people would describe those circumstances, revealing a he said/she said that he would be charged. No one would take that case. The issue of criminality couldn't be more moot! Like I sometimes say, "That dog just won't hunt." This is not a rape case where the victim would have justice from the courts. Not at all. That doesn't mean she wasn't raped, So, here is where I leave it with you. You can consider yourself one of Bradley's accomplices. You play right into his kind of exploitational crap.- GH: Classic Thread
