  1. Yes, other than the octopus stuff, this is typical 1996 Y&R. But so much more competent than what's done now.
  2. Yes, he does! And his chemistry with Tom was always as hot as he is. This is such a great example of the fun Phyllis and you can still see that dark, scary undercurrent. Always nice to see Doris. Such a unique presence. Heather as Victoria was an absolute treasure. One of THE biggest losses this show has ever endured. She should be the lead of Newman by now, her own version of Victor. Instead.... This episode is a reminder of the softer, sweeter Victor and the beautiful relationships he had with his kids.
  3. Such fun. And so many beautiful men. lol
  4. Well, that goes without saying!
  5. +1 Cuomo is on right now, so it's anyone's guess if we'll get the episode live. At least they'll put it up online.
  6. Any Katherine week that doesn't include the 1998 attic catfight and the brilliant episode where she almost starts drinking again in 1999 then throws her drink at the mirror has failed itself.
  7. I know, I'm from Europe lol I just don't like when content is reedited. Play it as it was intended!
  8. Turning on CC does a decent job of helping one follow it! I will never understand why they edited the credits to play at the start of the episode though. Why fiddle with it like that?
  9. Up to episode 18 of Season 13, where apparently Paige is now paralyzed. I had no idea that would happen! Not sure about seeing her like this, though. I guess it depends how they handle it. The switch from Romano to Marcus episodes was so noticeable I didn't even have to look at the credits to confirm. Suddenly, there was much more energy and sense of direction. I didn't hate the first 2/3 of Season 13 but it did become glacially paced and eventually you'd come out of an episode feeling like nothing had happened (even if it had), which clearly was very dangerous. I mean, Jason was "leaving for Sweden" for about 39 episodes. I am intrigued by the very sexy Alex Barth but very confused as well, as they kept zigzagging with how they portray him and I couldn't tell if I was supposed to be turned on by his near-evil treatment of Claudia (but, hey, if anyone deserves it, it's her). I think eventually they settled for opportunist and it works. A real shame they wrote Jason off. Jason and Alex around would be great for the hunky young guy portion of the show. Vanessa Hunt is intriguing too, if a tad annoying. I hope they go somewhere good with this. I LOVE Val writing Greg's biography. Decent drama. Val has been quite well served this season, even if that Lynette story went absolutely nowhere. Sad to see the ranch go but nice that Gary and Val are back on the cul-de-sac. To my surprise, I quite like Pierce now that he's gone full psycho. That scene where Marcia Cross had him fck her in order to give him info on Greg was wonderfully twisted. Interested to see where this goes.
  10. Thanks, Soapsuds. Ugh, about 6 mins missing. I wonder -- is there anyone here who could go into the trouble of editing the missing scenes into this HD version? It'd be the best of both worlds!
  11. Day behind?! It just got worse!
  12. Wow. That feels unnatural!
  13. LMAO. Y&R on at anything other than the half hour feels so weird to me lol
  14. Pre-empted in NJ for Cuomo's press conference. I was going to wait to watch the episode b/c I'm on September 1991, but wanted to catch a glimpse of HD Y&R. A shame for those tuning in. Hopefully someone will upload just like last episode.

Why is this so true??? 😂😂😂
  16. I see what you mean! And you are right - it's what Aback called the 'winning Y&R formula': There's usually a psycho on the show... sometimes two at the same time! It's to the show's immense credit that it doesn't necessarily feel like it was done too much. I think it's something that fitted the show's dark, gothic elements well and also provided a lot of "action" in a decidedly slow-paced show.
  17. OF COURSE you should halt funding to the World Health Organization during a pandemic. This evil man will kill us all.
  18. That's exactly it. It was far more than just a quota! And, yes, her descent into madness took well over a year and was exacerbated by her getting close with Matt Clarke.
  19. Are you saying it's a problem that Tricia became psychotic? Because she was uber boring before that and super interesting after it.... Why was it insulting? She was psychotic and therefore committed psychotic acts. I'd understand if she was portrayed as sane....
  20. I'm still resisting TikTok but this is quite fun. Just how did they do the voices?!
  21. OMG! That was a wonderful treat. Yet another reminder of the power of Y&R's classic music and it's awful, heartbreaking absence from today's shows. God how I wish they'd release all these cues.
  22. Sigh. What a treat to watch the real Y&R back on screen. A few minutes missing, of course, but what can you expect? The most bizarre edit was when they played the credits before the first Jill/Rex scene (which was obviously the lead into the credits) but then combined it with the Jill/Rex scene right after the credits. Like, why? Someone help me understand! That's not just cutting for time, that's re-editing the actual content! I was hoping they wouldn't remove whole scenes once I saw they just cut one of the Brad/Ashley ones short. That might be the way to go: Show all the scenes but trim some of them here and there and therefore nothing gets left out. St. John was so beautiful and sexy. Once Shemar came on the show, he always took second place and we didn't often enjoy that body. Always great to see Rowell. She will always be missed. Episodes like these subtly show Braeden's range as an actor. You just do not see this kind of emotion from him anymore. Funny how so far, CBS has rerun two episodes about Eve Howard. John finding out about Jill's pregnancy is classic soap drama. If this episode is put on YouTube (esp. in good quality) please someone let us know!
  23. Honestly, it would never happen, but I'd be fine if they picked a starting point in the 80s or 90s and just played episodes in order. 20, 30, 40, however many it ended up being. The only way to really experience Y&R and delve into it due to its measured, long-term storytelling.
