But I've always seen Bea being believable in all the clips that I've seen. She always seemed consistent with me. She called Nola on her sh-t, could be a bit flustered at times, but always came off as lovable and down to earth. Again, from what I've seen, Long didn't seem to invest in Quint and Nola that much. I do think that she tried with Jim, Tony, Annabelle, and Hillary but she got all rid of them in due time with Bea.

I do agree (with that I've seen) that Nola's last good story was AJ's birth. Everything else went down the tube afterwards. Sucks b/c I Quint and Nola still had much life to them as characters. Seeing as Nola was a busybody and nosy, what they should've done was put her over at the Springfield Journal as a journalist with Fletcher. That's what they should've done. It would've made sense anyways as Nola left the show telling Bea & Henry that she was gonna write a novel during her time abroad with Quint. Quint could've easily taken a job at Springfield U and followed in the footsteps of his idol, Mr. Renfield.

Really? From what I've seen of Long at GL, the Reardons were the last thing on her mind. I feel like her time at GL focused heavily on the Shaynes, Lewises, and Beth/Phillip/Lujack. I agree that Tony & Vanessa got story, but Nola got tossed sh-t. Jonathan the wiz kid, Nolarobeics, etc. All those stories were not that great.

Was he related to Lisa's son, Scott? When James was brought back under Sheffer and brought back in the mid 90s, I am surprised that they never played the grooming bit of James anymore. Especially, under Sheffer. They should'v had James groom Allison or Jennifer, which would've made Babs, Hal, or Emily go bananas.

I wonder what this press conference is about. If it is anything to put a halt against Trump taking office, I am ALL for it.- The Politics Thread
Good. But I don't want him on death row for years eating up tax dollars. I hope someone offs his ass before it gets to that point.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Lillian did catch a bit more heat than Ed did though. I just hate that there was no character on the canvas that called him on his sh-t. Not even Roger as you mentioned. Most of them just patted him on the head like 'poor Ed.' I would've been all for Roger calling Ed on his crap, as I always team Roger. It would've been nice to see Roger lord something over Ed's sanctimonious head for once.- Love and Hip Hop Thread
Yandy needs to get off the show. She went from being a fan favorite to being disliked with each passing season. If she were smart, she'd plead with her BFF, Mona, to give a producing job if anything.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I've just always felt that Ed got off easy with Maureen's death. In actuality, Maureen's (like any real family) would've wreaked havoc on Ed & Lillian. Plus, it would've been interesting to see Vanessa involved too as she has ties to Ed and the Reardons. While Vanessa was Maureen's best friend, would she side with Ed out of pity or turn on him? I'd personally have her be pissed with Ed but side with him just cause, thus reigning her beef with Nola. Lisa Brown & Maeve Kinkead in fiery, tense scenes would've been EVERYTHING. It would've been interesting to see how Quint would've factored in the situation too. Maureen's death should've trickled down the canvas and affected the characters for years. Of course, JFP's lame ass skipped that beat. at Misguided Blight! Only characters I'd want were Danny, Cassie, and Reva. No other Shaynes. All the other Santoses are dead.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
at you naming all of Reva's arcs upon her return. I do agree that they were all stupid and over the top. I know KZ has to roll her eyes playing all of this. No! You can't kill them!!! I don't think they needed to be killed. Many of them just needed to be revised or written off IMO. By the end of the show, the Winslows were gone. I do hate that they undid Edmund's death and had this stupid arc where Shayne had a baby with Edmund's deceased long lost daughter, Lara. I always wanted Danny (and Michelle) back with Danny now being some FBI officiant. The Santos mob clan didn't bother like the Corinthos' do on GH. I guess b/c Danny and Tony were more romantic leads than actual mobsters, I took to them. Again, I didn't mind the Shaynes. They just needed to not drive all the stories on the canvas. I used to dream of re-centering the show around the Bauers and Reardons if anything. I wanted Quint & Nola back with J, Stacey, and about 2-3 younger kids for the young adults/teen part of the show. I wanted them back at Thornway Road. Nola would be an author or journalist (as she was nosy as f-ck). Quint would be an archeologist/professor, much like his idol, Professor Renfield at Springfield U. Quint and Nola would be the comedic, stable couple of the show, who'd constantly worry about their flock of kids, who were all screw ups. *sighs* A boy can dream...- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Carly being shown rarely is criminal. I've enjoyed the recast Carly from the start, and loved her friendship with Tracey/Finn. That I miss. I hate those 3 don't rarely have scenes anymore. Most of the stuff does seem filler, which is sad b/c I feel like ED has the strongest cast of the UK soaps. I feel like the writers and producers should be inspired to write nothing but greatness for this cast. I think the two people I hate getting filler stories are Victoria & Adam. Though I hate pregnancy stories on soaps, I do hope that the 2 end up having a baby this year. It is time that the Sugdens be restored as they are running scarce. Seeing as they are in the UK, I wouldn't mind Aaron/Robert having a designer baby as it has been in the press in recent months about this topic. I feel like it is something (if done right) could shake up the village. Especially, with many of the people being uber-religious. It'd be interesting to see their opinions on something that isn't traditional.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
When I started watching GL, there were no Shaynes on the canvas (as I started as a young child about 92-93). I agree with @DRW50 that the Coopers were more like the Dingles than the Shaynes. I felt the Coopers (mainly Harley, Buzz, and later Marina) ate up the show from the '90s to the bitter end. Out of the bunch, I didn't mind Lucy (at times), Frank, or Coop. The other 3 (Harley/Buzz/Marina) annoyed me to no end. Only time I liked Harley was when she was with Phillip. Once she got paired with Gus, I grew tired of her ass. I didn't mind Reva. Yes, she was overkill but I just felt she was a character that needed direction in the later years. I've said this before, but Reva needed a damn career! That was her problem. I grew tired of her constantly having stories of her and Josh going backwards and forwards. It grew tedious and restricting to both characters. Reva hardly ever interacted with anyone outside her clan, but she was so beloved by everyone, which boggled me. The last decade sucked for Reva as she was isolated if anything. Reva was her most appealing when she was interacting with people she normally didn't interact with. I never minded Cassie and I always enjoyed her during Laura Wright's stint minus the time she was sniffing around Danny. One thing Cassie did better than Reva in the show's last few years was not be isolated. She was well threaded throughout the canvas. Looking back at older episodes, I can see why older fans would loathe Reva as she totally sucked airtime from the Bauers and Reardons, who were beloved. The Shaynes don't bother me though for some odd reason.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
While Kate might've made mistakes her last year, I still found ED enjoyable. I still do, but I hate how so many characters aren't being thrown bones at all. I could've gotten behind a Bob/Harriet pairing.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I feel like this regime doesn't even give a damn about Harriet which is sad. I find her to be one of the many great things Kate Oates got right during her stint at ED.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I agree. I am trying to prep for Ashley's demise as it is nearing, but I don't think I can. It's gonna be such a huge gap when he's gone.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I don't think that I can even accept the save money excuse as it wasn't like GL was suffering that much budget wise. Yeah, JFP was making room for Justin Deas, but she could've at least used that money (before debuting him) to woo back some of the Reardons for a week or 2 stint. I agree that by the time Nola came back in '95, it was moot to play the beat. I got that she was still mad at Ed (and should've been), but they should've played it from the start. All I needed was a few scenes of Tony, Chelsea, Nola, and Jim chewing into Ed, Bea bonding with Michelle, and the Reardons saying goodbye to Maureen (and the audience) as they'd become quite scarce (minus Bridget) until Matt and Nola would return. Killing off Maureen, a tentpole character, and at least not giving her a proper sendoff is sh-tty. But that's Jill. She gave Alan a crappy sendoff. I wasn't impressed with Katherine's sendoff (though it was b/c JC had passed for real) either.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
True. I hope it doesn't ruin ways for us to get episodes here in the US.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Yes. Roxie not being there during Sarah's passing was jarring. If Kristi did retire, they still could've recast with a strong actress. Hell, they recast 90% of all the other roles on the show. Might as well had recast that one too. It would've been interesting to see how Roxie was doing and if she and Johnny were still going strong. But thinking of Sarah's funeral, I've always felt the same way about the Reardons not being shown during Maureen's funeral. It was so odd for them to mention that the Reardons decided to go to the boarding house instead of showing them. I would've loved to have seen some powerhouse scenes with them being divided on the issue of Ed causing Maureen's death. While GL was firing on all cylinders with that story, it could've been so much better to have Jim, Tony, Chelsea, and Nola chewing Ed out while Bea tries to calm matters.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
@DRW50, most articles and synopsis I've seen have it spelled as Roxie. Speaking of Roxie, that's one of the many characters I never got why they didn't bring back. Especially, around the time Cassie came on the scene. It would've been interesting to see Roxie, Reva, Rusty, and Cassie all together for once. But then again, let me stop. The Reva/Cassie overkill was a lot from 95 to the end of the show.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I think I follow all of them. I better start saving the episodes. I wonder how much Britbox is gonna cost a month b/c if it is ridiculous, it will be overlooked by me. - The Politics Thread
