Except that the damage is done. They've hit bottom. And they're broke. They need TV money to dig them out of this mess.

If they haven't been filming Teresa all the while they've been crazy. They should be filming her from now until she goes into jail in November, film Joe crying throughout the year, show him driving off to visit her, that'll be enough footage to keep her presence up for the upcoming season...then she'll be out and they film again, if they plan it properly she won't have to miss any seasons.

I agree. And Rosie and Star get along these days...the reason Whoopi isn't gone is her $10 million contract, which is pay or play, so even if ABC fires her, they have to pay her. So they're playing her and paying her, and she'll have to suck it up until it runs out.

Well, yes, obviously...but there's a big difference between 1 and 9...

The other issue is Joe's deportation...it's interesting that he's going in second since he'll face deportation when he's released. By the time they've served their time Gia will be 18 years old and Joe may face having to leave the United States. His sentence is long enough that Teresa will be able to plan and weigh things out. I do wish them well, but I'm not sorry they've been given jail time. They earned it.

Absolutely. I pity their daughters, who are innocent in all this mess, but especially because their parents didn't think about the repercussions that would befall their girls...the judge was beyond fair to Teresa, 15 months is less than the 21-27 months that she could have received under the guidelines.

The prosecutors were right. There was no choice but to give the sentence that Teresa, frankly, deserved. She'll be in jail by November, and be out, if she behaves, by Christmas 2015. She deserves the jail time. She did it. She admitted to it. And now she has to pay for it. The girls will be fine, they have one parent while the other is in prison. It's up to Joe and Teresa to live up to their plea of guilty and set an example for their girls that this is what happens when you break the law. If they play the victim card and moan "Why me?!" their girls will be corrupted beyond belief.

They plead guilty. They cannot appeal.

15 months I hear for Teresa

But the sentencing guidelines are not an opinion. They're the law. The law that Teresa plead guilty under. The prosecutor and judge don't have total discretion to go against the sentencing guidelines. She was always going to serve time, always, if their lawyer didn't tell them that then they can sue him for negligence. I like Teresa. But she committed crimes and if you aren't prepared to do the time then you aren't prepared to do the crime.

They're not monsters, they're upholding the law based on the sentencing guidelines for the crimes she plead guilty to.

Dynasty Discussion Thread
The thing about Locklear is that nobody, and I really do mean nobody, has a bad word to say about her, be it the TJ Hooker, Dynasty, Melrose Place or Spin City sets...that's how she earned her career. She isn't a pain in the ass, didn't piss people off, showed up for work, knew her lines and has gone home. Despite a limited range, she really is one of the most prolific television actresses ever.

Makes sense. Was her yearly salary ever disclosed?

As well, Apollo Nida's convictions related to fraudulent acts against approximately 50 people, while the Giudice's fraud related to their claims of bankruptcy and overestimating their income to obtain loans. In terms of victims, the Giudice's victims were banks, while Apollo Nida's victims were banks, individuals, companies and the US Treasury (he used US Treasury cheques with the personal information he stole from the individuals, ie: identity theft). The nature of the offences matter in sentencing.

No, Joe and Teresa plead guilty to nine counts. They were originally charged with 42, prosecutors dropped the other 33 charges (which were likely weak or ancillary) after they plead guilty.

Apollo was a previously convicted criminal, Joe Giudice is not, that's why his sentence was more lenient.

Interesting that Whoopi totally acknowledged the fight, gave her position on it and is clearly moving on from it. She'd be good to work with because she's an adult. Rosie has said that she finds being on a team difficult and that she does like to drive her own bus, so her return to The View surprised me...maybe she wanted some visibility, maybe she thought she had changed, maybe she needed the money or wanted to top up the coffers for retirement...I'll be surprised if she stays longer than a season or two.

You bet that's Brad Bell! How fun would that be for Ashley Abbott to pop up on a business trip on B&B with Empress Lisa and Lisa R making cameos!

It doesn't surprise me. Her career has faltered...so she returns and it may get her another Bravo show. LuAnn was on WWHL last night, so hopefully that bodes well for her role on the show, for she was the MVP.

The Broadway gig is short term, Glee is ending this year, HSN makes up numbers all the time (all her clothing is in stock from what I can see right now on their site) and apparel lines only give her a percentage of profits, not the straight net earning, and Fashion Police is, at this time, a rumour. I'm not hating on Nene at all, I like her, but she has to be careful that she doesn't bite the hand that feeds her, especially when she doesn't have a home bought and paid for free and clear and appears to live quite high. She should be investing long term for her future when Housewives is over and she isn't relevant anymore. She's 46, she's over the hill by Hollywood standards, so she needs to be careful.

I don't think Nene can afford to have this season be her swan song, her career has seriously stalled, and once she is off the show she doesn't have a platform anymore and once that visibility goes, so too does what's left of her career. She really needs to ride the wave of the show until it's cancelled, and start seriously saving her money. She hasn't even bought a house yet!

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I had to check to see Barbara Windsor's special cameo...and while, yes, it seemed like she was playing more Babs than Peggy (I really think the hair has something to do with it), I loved seeing her.

I'll be tuning back into Atlanta...that trailer looks GREAT! A good balance between drama and fun. I don't know how anyone can defend Marlo, a woman convicted of aggravated battery, a second degree felony, with parole violations including illegal possession of a firearm and a misdemeanour charge for bank fraud, praising her as some goddess or queen, and at the same time trash Porscha, a total idiot, who was charged for assaulting Kenya....both women are batterers! Both women are scum! The only difference between them is that Marlo was convicted of a felony.
