  1. Ruth and Amy-sisters who didn't stay in touch.
  2. Of course! JLB couldn't offer much competition in that area...
  3. The first Larry,Paul Tully.Unlike AMC,the original cast stayed intact, apart from Larry and Meredith.
  4. Good to see Brenda and the girls!
  5. I think that is Kenneth Harvey as Doug Martin.
  6. James Douglas as Eliot. After AW he went to ATWT .I wonder if he was approached at anytime to recreate Steven on RTTPP?
  7. Armand Assante as Dr Mike Powers with David O'Brien
  8. Late 60's on set.Ann Williams and Mary Stuart do look like sisters.
  9. From SOD re Julie and Sharon Sharon Duval and Julie Williams go on a shopping spree and return to Sharon's house with all their goodies. Julie had admired a beautiful cameo necklace but didn't purchase it because of the exorbitant price. Sharon did. While the two women are sharing a cup of coffee and a pleasant conversation, Sharon gives Julie the necklace. Needless to say, Julie is stunned at Sharon's show of generosity. When Julie makes noises about leaving, Sharon pleads with her to stay. They have sherry in Sharon's bedroom and Julie admires the decor. To everything Julie admires, Sharon answers by saying "take it, it's yours." Julie laughs off her continued generosity until Sharon offers Julie the house! But even then, she is not aware of what Sharon is telling her. Again she makes noises about leaving. She sits at Sharon's dressing table and Sharon blurts out her true feelings. She tells JUlie that although Karl is leaving Salem, she, Sharon will stay. She will stay forever to be with Julie. She loves Julie. Julie, caught unawares by Sharon's admission, recoils in horror and runs from Sharon's house. Sharon, feeling the rejection and digust Julie is feelings, does the only thing she feels she can do... cut her wrists.
  10. In the Slesar article,it is stated that Slesar returned when the headwriter passed away.Lou Scofield was the writer at the time, but he didn't die until 72.Was it just an factual error,or are they referring to another writer? Did Scofield leave Edge to create WTHI? Also, regarding Edge writers, does anyone know why Irving Vendig left the show he created and wrote for almost a decade? He went on to create NBC's answer to Edge,Hidden Faces.
  11. Great pics, I have never seen Tina as Patti or Dino in that time frame. It was weird to get him back as Len and recast Patti, then give them nothing.Tina looks a good fit for Patti. Val Dufour always reminds me of a vampire.
  12. Ruth certainly moved up in the world, marrying a doctor and all. In that pic she looks like Beatrice Arthur in Maude!!
  13. That's producer Joe Stuart with Judith and Phil
  14. It's often forgotten that before she was Ruth Martin, she was Ruth Brent and had a husband ,Ted.
  15. Bill Bell was official headwriter on Days until May 75. After that he was listed as story consultant and Pat Falken Smith became headwriter, Even when Ann Marcus became headwriter Bell was still listed as consultant until April 78. How that all worked in practice is another story.
  16. Interesting story on the writing process circa 81
  17. Cheryl Tiegs guest starred in the midst of the Erica/Silver story
  18. In 1977,Julie became involved with the Duvalls ,Karl and Sharon (Sally Stark and Alejandro Rey) that led to the short lived lesbian story where Sharon professed her love for Julie. The whole thing was quickly dropped.
  19. Julian Funt and David Lesan preceded the Ferro's.Funt and Lesan had replaced Agnes Nixon.Agnes left in late 65/early 66 when she took over AW.Did she write both shows concurrently for a while? GL went through a ton of writers in the mid to late 60's.I wonder why there was such instability? It also expanded to 30 min and moved timeslots for the first time after 16 years, which may have affected the ratings.
  20. Re Velekka/Lyla. Was it Velekka who stated in an interview that there was a clash with Don Hastings and he wanted his wife Leslie for the part?
  21. This was early in the Dobson's run, where they were wrapping up old stories Doug/Marcia,Ian and Dee and moving into their own-burning down the bookstore, intro of Nick, return of Joyce etc Do we know who played Claudia and Raymond? Just did some checking and found that Tom Everett and Mary McDonnell played Raymond and Claudia Colfax. Both have long resumes and are still working today.
  22. Yes,Lois was on Edge before Somerset.Somewhere the wires got crossed.I agree re Timmy.Just have him away at school or camp then recast. It's not like that had never been done before. With such a high turnover of characters,i wonder why they didn't make better use of history and bring back former characters or their children eg Judy Marceau,Cookie Pollack etc They did that with Jody and Kelly.
  23. SOD synopsis from Sept 80.The Dobsons were now in full swing.
