I loved Irene Dailey but Aunt Liz was the epitome of a supporting character. She didn't belong in the Best Actress category. That neither Wyndham nor McKinsey ever got an Emmy pretty much invalidates the entire concept of the awards, IMO. I assumed Vicky just stopped submitting herself some time in the early '80s.

ALL: Most Memorable, Iconic Lines from Soaps
"I give you ... LIFE!" -- Mac's last toast on AW. "That Ordway creature" -- AW's Iris referring to the object of her son Dennis' affections, Molly Ordway

Ratings from the 80's
The drop was well deserved, unfortunately. Just a horrible time for the show.

Sheri Anderson has gone fi-core. Could she be Ron's replacement during the strike? And will she do a better job? https://deadline.com/2023/06/soaps-actors-working-sag-aftra-strike-scripts-written-1235418533/

I've long since given up on decent storytelling and am at the point that I only watch the show for actors I enjoy. Leann Hunley is one of them.

GH: Jackie Zeman passed away
I dipped into GH during the Luke & Laura heyday and I was never a fan of them but I did almost instantly fall in love with two characters: Denise Alexander's Leslie and Jackie Zeman's Bobbie. I never watched the show regularly but I was happy to see either one of them on the rare instances I did. In the last decade, I'd tune in if I knew either of them would be in a particular episode. Unfortunately, that turned out to be exceedingly rare. I can't even believe she was 70 years old, let alone that she's now gone. I'm grateful for all the entertainment and enjoyment she provided over the years.

I think the things we've seen on screen in the last few years give credence to the idea that someone wouldn't approve a decent Bo-Hope story. It's pretty clear that "someone" has no sense of a good story or what the DAYS audience wants to see.

Yes, this really is mystifying me. I never thought the move to Peacock would spur a reinvention of the soap genre, but I looked forward to a little tinkering around the edges, at least. But it's the same old tired tropes, done in the same tired old ways.

It's been a long time since we've seen Julie's Place, hasn't it?

I believe it's called "Small Bar" which is also appropriate.

I'd stopped watching by this time. I had no idea Alan Feinstein (of Alexander: the Other Side of Dawn fame) appeared on SB!

I loved Joey, but was bored to tears by Kit and her entire family. Russ and Tracy were also snoozeville. William Gray Espy was such a sluggish actor, he lowered the drama quotient just by appearing in a scene. I agree that Blaine, Cecile and Pat were the main draws during this really dull AW phase. I fault the writing and the directing.

I think Emily O'Brien is very capable and her Gwen was a breath of fresh air when she first came on. The writing has done her no favors since, however. I loved Gwen Davies, too.

I'm assuming Chad explained where his kids were when he spent the night with Stephanie, and I just missed it?

I think I only came in after they married ... but I always loved their fights more than their romantic stuff, and they really had to be married to have the knock-down-drag-outs they had, so I'm okay with Lemay's decision (in retrospect). I thought both Jason and Anna Holbrook-Sharlene were antagonistic with Rachel right from the start, precisely because she had killed their sister. Maybe Jason knew and had to tell Sharlene? Regardless, I loved Lemay's return for scenes like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipAuH8OA3qo&t=7s

Oh no. I loved her in 24 and Bosch, and an assortment of other roles. I had no idea she was ill.

It was mostly CGI, wasn't it? I wonder if they'll be doing more of that.

Couples That Dominated and then Disappeared
AW: Sally and Catlin. I was watching only sporadically when they were prominent, and every time I tuned in it was all about them. By the time I was watching regularly again, Mary Page Keller was gone, the character of Sally was dead, and Thomas Ian Griffith was in a story with Sharon Gabet.
