This is random but i always thought it would be such rich gold if katherine/Vanessa prentiss had crossed paths or where in the same storyline together or against each other and they have something in common they dont like Lorie but Vanessa hate is a bit deeper.

Katherine and Vanessa would've been epic.

Another interaction that would've probably be amazing is Vanessa and Victor. I'm sure Victor would recognize Vanessa as someone not to mess with.

    Aug 92 - Jun 93 (Recurring)

Beth made a few appearances during the remainder of 1992, but was back more prominently from Jan 1993. This was when Brad did the whole 30 day reconciliation trial

    Dec 93 (Recurring)

Beth was more like a guest star

    Feb 94 - Aug 94 (Recurring)

This was very off and on. Traci and Steve were back and forth from New York to Genoa City for Ashley and Blade's wedding, Brad wanting Colleen and Brad's heart attack. This really was the end of Traci under Bill Bell (IMO)

    Feb 95 - Apr 95 (Recurring)

Almost a repeat, comes for a wedding (Jack and Luan's) stays for a heart attack (John's) Again Traci wonders if there is hope for her and Brad, but ends up heading off. At this point Traci really only returns to support other characters stories

    Apr 96 - May 96 (Recurring)

Pretty much a guest star appearance when Dina came back.

I think sometime between 1993 and 1996 Beth Maitland had her daughter. I don't think Beth was pregnant in real life when Traci was pregnant with Colleen.

  3. @BoldRestless Jeanne Cooper's birth date is October 25, 1928 so she was 45 when she started on Y&R in late 1973 and 55 when she had the facelift in early 1984. Compare how Jeanne looked in that age range to current female cast members in that age range, ie. Amelia Heinle (47), Sharon Case (49), Lauralee Bell (52 in December), Michelle Stafford (55), and holy difference.

Same goes for the males. Eric Braeden (born April 3, 1941) was 38 when he started on Y&R in February 1980 and was 48 at the end of the 1980s. Compare how Eric looked in the 1980s to current male cast members in that age range, ie. Jordi Vilasuso (39), Donny Boaz (40 in December), Greg Rikaart (43), Jason Thompson (44 in November), Joshua Morrow (46), and once again holy difference.

1970s/1980s styling I think played a big part in why those in 40s and 50s looked so much older than what we're used to seeing those in their 40s and 50s look like in 2020.

  4. I've finished the 1980s clips and I'm having withdrawals 😂

Is it wrong that I skipped all the Cricket scenes 🤣

From the 1988 clips/full episodes, Nikki's pregnancy with Nicholas must have been the longest pregnancy on daytime. Nikki becomes pregnant in January and learns about it in May. Victor notices Nikki's weight gain in June and finds out about the pregnancy shortly after. Nikki leaves town in November and returns with baby Nicholas in January 1989.

Yes I do believe Y&R started from the first episode in New Zealand, most likely began airing here in 1977 as we were always 4 years behind.

Finished in 2009 with episodes from shortly after Cassie's death.

You were spared 2006 onward which are not classics.

  6. It seems like alot of countries that air Y&R started with 1986 episodes. Besides Canada, Australia, and maybe New Zealand, did any other countries get Y&R episodes from earlier than 1986?

I am really excited about re-watching clips from late 1988 forwards.. I began watching Y&R during this time when the show began broadcasting in Israel. I remember amazing stories:

So Israel started w/ Fall 1988 episodes then? What year was Y&R first broadcast in Israel?

The 1988 clips were January-March. The pivotal moment in that clip set is Victor's devastation over Ashley's marriage to Steven which leads to Victor getting drunk and turning to Nikki, resulting in Nikki becoming pregnant with Nicholas.

The main non-Cricket 1988 stories I remember were Katherine and Rex's marriage, Chance's birth, Ruthless publication, Paul becomes involved with Cassandra, Victor and Nikki divorce, Steven's death, Brad in a cage, Nicholas's birth. Also the second of the big three late 1980s recasts when Eileen Davidson left and was replaced with Brenda Epperson.

Aw, it's like the end of an era, but thank you sooooo much to this person, whoever you are! :D

Whomever that person is, they should be knighted by the Queen.

Well I see the '86 clips are still rolling along.  '86 was a good year for Y&R.  I wonder if we'll get into 1987...  I don't recall '87 being a particularly exciting year.  I just remember that Douglas returns, Matt leaves, Nikki fakes being ill, Rose comes back again, and then there's the whole Nikki & Jack / Victor & Ash story, but I really can't recall what else was going on.

Besides Cricket eating the show, there was Ashley's breakdown after aborting Victor's baby, Nikki's recovery from her illness that she hid from Victor, Katherine and Jill's custody battle over Phillip, Nina becomes pregnant with Chance, Paul and Lauren divorce, Lauren becomes involved with Brad, Jill hires Rex to woo Katherine; I think that covers the main non-Cricket 1987 stories. November 1986 had the EP change from H. Wesley Kenney to Ed Scott and June 1987 was the first of the big three late 1980s recasts when Brenda Dickson was fired and replaced with Jess Walton.

There was also what seems to be a slight cast purge during the second half of 1986 to through 1987, with the departures of Marla Adams, Colleen Casey, Alex Donnelly, Steven Ford, Lauren Koslow, Julianna McCarthy, Phil Morris, Robert Parucha, Jon St. Elwood, James Storm, Stephanie Williams. I wonder how much of it was Bill Bell running out of story for the characters and how much of it was Ed Scott doing some house cleaning.

I don't doubt Brenda had health issues and was possibly railroaded by producers behind the scenes - Brenda embelishes and twists things, but I notice there was always a kernal of truth there as well. I would not have put it past Ed Scott to gaslight Brenda (who knows though)

Ed Scott took over as EP in November 1986 and it wasn't long after that all the reported BTS drama w/ BD began. One has to wonder how much of it was BD and how much of it was ES. Remember the early years of ES as EP (1986-1989) also had Cricket eating the show and the departures of ED and TL. Yes, I know Y&R reached #1 during ES's run but IMO he got all the credit for the groundwork that was laid by H. Wesley Kenney.

  11. Fall 1985 is being uploaded. The feud and quadrangle are entering full strength and everything is going to culminate in the first half of 1986. 1985/1986 Y&R reached #2, it was the peak of the Bill Bell/H. Wesley Kenney years.

Side note, I noticed 1985 is when Brenda Dickson started to get OTT in her acting mannerisms. I know they get worse in 1986 and 1987.

Y&R in the mid 1990’s was as bad and bland as I had ever seen it, and only really came back to life at the end of Bell’s HW stint, when we know Alden was putting things into place for her eventual takeover.  And then she herself had plenty of duds (although nothing like what came after).

Yes, Y&R did start to go down Fall 1994-early 1996 when Nick and Sharon ate the show, then there was the lull from Fall 1996-first half of 1997. Things did pick up in the second half of 1997 through to 1998, which was the last excellent year. While Kay Alden's run started good, we could see signs of tanking from 1999-2005. As we all know, nothing was the same 2006 onward.

And as much as I love Curlee’s/Demorest etc GL, that team did create the Coopers, and even if some/a lot of it was JFP’s fault, the show was wildly unbalanced in their last year as HW team and people like Nick and Lucy were shoved down viewers throats.

I'm pretty sure Pamela Long created the Coopers, as Harley, Frank, and Nadine were already on when I started watching in Spring 1989. JFP brought on Buzz in early 1993 and Lucy in Fall 1993.
