  1. Goodness. Citi Open must be clutching pearls. No one of note is left in the women's draw. I would say Madison Keys but she always loses. And no one is showing up to see a match for whoever beat coco. Barely heard of her. sorry, but true. Good tuneup for the Open. They're all going to suck. LOL.
  2. Horrible match. Just awful. The girl she lost to is basically - not very good. Put the ball in play. Between Madison and Sloane I don't even know what to do. Coco is on next - I'm hoping that she plays well. DC has turned out for her - I want her to win. Storms are in the area too - I hope they get this match off. Crazy - she plays Center Court at Wimbledon and is on grandstand at this tournament to open.
  3. I should have said leadups to the US Open. I was just looking at prize money and I have to say - I'm a Citicard holder and I'm going to contact someone at citi. I know there is unequal pay in everything but this is ridiculous. I wanted to know what the pay is for each round. The Men get like $350,000 to win. I know the women's tournament was a different tier for many years here in DC. Well it's now an International event but the winner only gets $50,000 or $47,000 or so. What the hell? Cut that men's money a bit and give a little more to the women. Even the Men's Doubles winners get more than the single women's winner! I need to tell my DC tennis playing friends - I wonder if they even know? I know there is always a difference unfortunately but this is crazy. I knew there would be a disparity but I had NO idea how much.
  4. Maybe someone knows - I really don't - but they play at night in DC. I don't know if other tournaments leading up to the Open do. But when I say it's hot - it's HOT in the main court/stadium. It's brutal. Do other tournaments play at night? When I went, I had a box of seats but I went in the champagne tent. Whatever they call it.
  5. I'm in Northern VA and the Citi Open is this week in DC. I've gone in some years but it's usually brutally hot. I wish I could get time to go this week - it's a nice little tournament and the players walk around the grounds or come watch matches standing right beside you for the outer courts. They have a nice lineup this year for both men's and women's...and Coco G. made it through qualifiers yesterday.
  6. I'm DC. It's pathetic. The entire family has no conscience. When you attack Veterans, Gold Star Families, and then try to have a big 4th of July Celebration...and tell people to "Buy American" and he knows how to "Deal with Chinahhh". And he got most of his building materials from China and Ivanka had all of that God-awful clothing line MADE IN CHINA. People know. I hope she can deal (not really - I hope the whole family suffers) with her Dad - but none of them can go back to New York. They're a laughing-stock. Ivanka and hubby were Democrats until they could hitch their wagon to Daddy Orange. Ivanka thinks she's going to be President. This entire administration is a reality show and media-fest, and White Supremacist rally. Ineptitude. When you trot out Kelly Ann Conway as one of your first speakers, what on EARTH would you think. SHE is VACANT. Can't think on her feet - welcome to the podium, Beavis. I work for a multi-national corporation, and everyone knows we are a joke at this point. It's sad. And what does he do? Goes after someone who tells the damned truth. It's Republican/Conservative normal. They need conflict to beat the Bibles and Wave the Flags and start the "Support the Troops" campaign. And "You can't change Presidents in time of War" garbage they always spew. It's coming.
  7. It wasn’t Chris - it was Mary Jo. What Serena does need to end is the crazy yelling and dramatic stumbling around. She does it when she’s rolling over people and she does it when she’s losing badly. She acts. It’s bad. Just play tennis. The yelling and the stupid stumbling around look ridiculous.
  8. She just needs to play more tournaments. Even being great on grass she didn't play a warm up tournament and that's not unusual for her but when you get older, things change. She's trying to play herself into mental shape during the tournament. It's an amazing accomplishment to make a GS final but I think it hits her in the moment. One thing that has always driven me crazy about her and I've never heard anyone say it because she generally moves well when she's in top form, returns well, etc. But she doesn't bend her knees - she bends at the waist and stands there basically, bent slightly at the waist on returns. And there were several times even during this match where she left Halep an opening, and she just stood up and stood there, even just instead of making a guess to one side or the other, she just gave up on points. But the lack of bending her knees on returns, getting down low, and even on alot of her groundstrokes, not alot of knee bend. And I've never heard anyone say it. With lack of match play, if her serve lets her down like it did today, anyone can be a danger. Her serve was basically on all tournament. I think Mary Jo said it best - Serena is still the best player on tour regardless of her ranking - but she doesn't have a Plan B. I noticed Simona said in her interview - her team and her had a plan and Tom Rinaldi said, "what was it?" And she said we're not going to tell you. I thought that was funny.
  9. I think equipment in Tennis has stabilized - I think the composite materials that came along in the 80's - changed a little more but people like Sampras still used one of the first Wilson pro-staffs all the way through his career, and Roger's is basically still mostly the same. I can't imagine someone inventing some other material that will replace rackets as we see them today, just due to the size of the court - there can't be a lot more power in the size of the court. My friends formed a wooden racket league and they love it. It's kind of sad because it would be boring to watch on TV given everything has to be bigger, better, faster, etc...but it sure does take a lot more skill to use a wooden racket. I think about baseball and how they allow aluminum composite bats up through college - but if you play pro, they have to use wooden bats because you shouldn't need the technology if you're good enough. They have to adjust backward. I wish there was a way to bring something like that back to Tennis.
  10. Chrissy threw some shade yesterday about Margaret and I cracked up - said something like, well it's not really a comparison even if Serena were not to break her record - since most of her Majors were the Australian when the field was only 32 or 40 total women and most all of the players were Australian - even good players from other nations didn't go to the Australian back then. And her 2nd most Slam was the US Open, then Wimbledon. She was best on grass and 3 of the 4 slams were on grass then and people forget that. Imagine how many Serena and Venus would have if 3 of the 4 Slams were on grass. So I looked back on Wiki and she's right...there were years after Billie Jean won the Australian and then didn't even go. Everyone is Australian in the 60s and even up through the early 70s.
  11. Well I had a feeling the first women's semi would be a snoozer and I'm betting both will be.
  12. What is this brand that some players are wearing that looks like the Grindr app logo?
  13. I'm DC. Can't wait to see our Dicktater running tanks through the streets, flyovers, other military shows of strength. On a day when it should be about the Country, he'll make it about himself with a political rally. Like his new Best Bud Rocketman Dicktater who does the same thing from North Korea who has members of his own family murdered. They talk about a woman winning President and breaking the glass ceiling, meanwhile we have a man busting through the concrete subterranean basement to see how low he can go. Disgusting. And speaking from the Lincoln Memorial! When he can then have some pictures taken looking out on the mall and have it photoshopped so that he can say more people were there than when Martin Luther King spoke! Watch, it's coming.
  14. LOL. I've always liked Liam more...except when Chris was in Thor, then it would be a toss up.
  15. I think khachanov is so hot. He looks like Liam Hemsworth to me.
  16. It could be that she will never be great on clay or grass. I could see clay coming along because she has the game for it - but grass maybe never. It's happened before - Monica Seles, Tracy Austin...good on everything pretty much but grass.
  17. What's interesting is that they were talking about all of her current projects (she's on like 3 shows or 2 shows and a movie or something), all of her current projects, and she mentioned all 3 - whatever they were, and she was on Guiding Light. But didn't mention she's been on B&B several times this year hahahahahaha. Good.
  18. I was watching Live with Kelly and Ryan the other day and Robin Givens was on - and she mentioned being on Guiding Light. Rare these days that someone who came from Soaps mentions it, but those that do - usually on Kelly because she claims it proudly (from AMC). I remember Robin briefly but does anyone remember the character and storyline?
  19. Unfortunately. We've had Presidents that I really disliked but I at least would listen to them speak. I dislike this one so much that the second I see his face on a news report or if it's State of the Union - I change the channel. I can't even stand to see him or hear him. I have no desire to even hear one word of anything he has to say because I truly do believe he's delusional and he has onset of Dementia. It's in his family and he's not young by any stretch. Didn't his Father pass of complications from it? I think it's already here for him.
  20. He is a despicable human being with not a single good/redeeming quality. And he knows it and that people hate him and that's what really digs at him. His whole life is a joke and he will go down as the most hated President ever. That'll be another record for him to hold. Everything with him has to be the most, the biggest, the best, etc. even though it's not - but he will get the most hated President ever title. His supporters can cheer all they want but they have turned the world's opinions of us so far negative it will take years to recover. Maybe it's because I work for a European/German company and maybe others do not - but people in other countries think he's nuts and that we are all stupid for having elected him. And what really burns me up with him is his sudden China and trade being unfair when that's where he sourced most of the materials for his construction and Ivanka's clothing line was made there. I know because I looked at the tags. So they're all for getting their things done with China to make their money but don't want others to.
  21. No one ever mentions it, but Jean Carol - when she took on the role of Nadine, won the Soap Opera Digest award for best/favorite newcomer. This was a huge deal given that everyone knew that NBC and ABC's fan clubs for DAYS and GH would send the magazines to members and buy many many copies and mail in the votes. If CBS did, it certainly was not for ATWT or GL. So for her to win an SOD award which was nothing more than a popularity contest, it said alot. The CBS/GL people could not have done it on their own...alot of other people voted for her. She did get a raw deal - I said in other places...Ellen Parker being let go (Maureen), was not the only nail in the coffin. They made the mistake of letting really popular actresses go...Jean Carol/Nadine, but I also think Jenna/Fiona Hutchinson. Her relationship with Henry was really nice.
  22. Well she did say she was going to shove that ball down her [!@#$%^&*] throat. It kind of did happen. It’s out there. Then there kind of was the drunk doubles match with Venus where she stumbled around a lot and couldn’t stand up. Explained away by some unknown disease. She was drunk from the night before because she played within a few days later. Serena has always been a mess.
  23. Ugh, maybe I was wrong. This Open has been a shi* show.
  24. I think the acting is over, he's cleaned it up - I think he's going to sail through now.
