ATWT LEGEND KATHRYN HAYS PASSES AWAY
My goodness. To think a lot of us, me included, thought the show was bad. Jesus this stands up to be far better than any of them left now on their best days.

ATWT LEGEND KATHRYN HAYS PASSES AWAY
Yep. And when soaps were being tossed aside for Game Shows and Talk shows I said, no one will ever say things like, remember when that woman won the car, remember that time XX said XX on The Talk, etc. There might be some nice memories that someone remembers about such shows and things, but not the way you remember characters on a soap. When you travel far from home, move to a new place, of course there is a familiarity with a show like Price is Right or a talk show. But nothing takes you home like the characters on soaps when they were done well. Those people become family in a way to us unlike anything else. Hays was one of those people that you turned on the TV, no matter where you were in your life, and you were 'home' for a few minutes. We're lucky that we got to see soaps when they were good, and it's sad that only we will remember.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Has someone fallen off of or been pushed off of a balcony or outside terrace or similar place recently? To land and have the camera shot show them laying there with a carefully placed shoe next to the body? That always looks nice, maybe they'll do that.

One time I was watching with my Mom and Kim said to Andy “ Listen Pal…” and Mom said uh ohhhhhh. So true. I wonder how much of that was Kathy inserting her own take.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
I almost wanted to tune in to see if I was right. But I posted this yesterday or the day before. When it comes to anything Sheila everything and everyone is dumbed down. I said, it wouldn't surprise me at all if no one suspected Sheila. You know, because there's no reason to, what's she ever done to anyone right? LOLLL. So dumb. If it happened it's totally par for the course. And toss in some cringeworthy disbelief and tears of how Sheila could do such a thing. Someone posted about introducing her other children - I couldn't care less about B&B at this point, and only tuned in to Y&R recently to see Robert Newman. But more characters related to Sheila is the very LAST thing B&B should be doing. The character needs to be put out to pasture for good. There were other families, other villains that you could have introduced by now, and the Stefano Dimiera/James Stenbecking of Sheila is the last thing any show needs. They had a huge opportunity with the Avants - Sascha being a spoiler, a triangle between Caroline/Maya/Rick...all kinds of directions they squandered. Worst being just a little misunderstanding of Maya

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Everything you said. I only saw the shooting scene (well part of it), and I don't get the magic of Sheila. Pretty much never have. There's always an element to her that dumbs all other characters down. It would be par for the course that no one even suspects her. Characters continue to interact with her no matter what she's done. But, my measure of a good villain is Roger Thorpe/Guiding Light. That says it all. He pulled awful stuff, but no matter what, there was something that made a lot of people root for him in some way. At the heart he was likeable for some reason, no matter who the writer. With Sheila, it's a cartoon for me. And I just don't care. I didn't watch yesterday, the shooting thing was enough for me to see it's yet another in a long line of dumbing everyone down, plot holes, etc. This has really been my problem with B&B for years and years, not just Sheila. She just makes it worse. I've said before - it's like no one lives in Los Angeles. All of this took place and no one else happened to hear it or see it - except for Deacon stumbling upon the shooting. What? Just like no one drives on the roads of LA. Car accidents happen and there's no one around, and it's right in the middle of the city. Because LA has no traffic, you know? Things like that. I don't know what happened with the booze and the switching of labels, etc. But for the people commenting on what it's like to be an alcoholic, and 'they' just know, etc. Well, I'm a recovering alcoholic, and you're always recovering when you're an alcoholic. I'm right at my 1 year anniversary of rehab. Last fall I was baking, and just not even thinking, and put some vanilla extract into the batter bowl, dripped some, and LICK off my fingers without thinking. BAM. It really is true. All of the stuff I've seen and thought was ridiculous, that what difference would a taste of booze make? It's true, I can assure you all. It was like a vampire and blood if you know what I mean. I quickly drank a ton of water and went for a walk. I do have cooking wine and of course extracts in the house, but I will never forget that mistake. It's real. What someone else said above - about your brain says "hello again friend". 100% accurate. So I guess in general I'm glad I didn't see the bottle or label switching or whatever - I don't think anyone would get it right. Anyway, Sheila at this point is a hard stop for me. If this was the shocking twist I don't get it. When they introduced Finn (I'd seen him maybe 5 times total because I don't watch regularly - maybe 10 minutes once a month by accident) - but it was clear to me he would be a throw-away character.

Oh I'm sure he'll have amnesia but while in the hospital he'll remember the very nice, angelic nurse who comes to visit him in secrecy and nurses him back to health and is his guardian angel. But urges him not to tell anyone because it's their little secret. Or some similar nonsense.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
They had pretty much been shot when I tuned in. But then the angst of her rolling around on the hotel bed mulling over her shooting while she slips into an afternoon nap didn't make me care or want to see what happens with it. Nor Deacon saving the day with a 911 call. And probably leaving the entire cast wondering who on EARTH could have DONE such a thing???! Surely not SHEILA?!! NO way!!! That kind of thing falls in the whatever category for me. Sheila jumped the shark decades ago. She's like that Stefano guy on Days - never watched but seemed like they become a catch-all plot device. No thanks.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
It's been ages since I tuned in, but I did today. It doesn't interest me. Looks like Sheila shot Finn and Steffy or something. The character hasn't made sense to me in years and years and years - I don't find her crazy antics entertaining, and this is really no different than anything I read about (and barely watched) over the years of Sheila. My only wish would have been to shoot most of the cast rather than 2 characters and just put the show out of its misery. I don't really understand discussion about the redemption of Sheila, or anything like that - because over the years it's been proven she is used as a plot device and there's nothing else there. I don't really care about her motives, what drives her, whatever. She's nuts, has been nuts, always nuts, and no one would trust her unless they are mindless. I'm just not into characters that make the whole show stupid. I had the same issue with Quinn and it led me down the rabbit hole of not watching unless I happen to pass by or I see something 'might' happen just to see that one moment.

I watched from the end of the 1st set onward, and it was. Kecmanovic is better than people think or the impression of him I think. It was a good match. Ever since I first saw him I've been on the Alcaraz bandwagon. He is different in that he already shows he can figure his way out of tough matches. And those drop shots. Never seen a player that really knows when to use them and executes them so well - not just to get a cheap point when you're tired but to set up a point at just the right time.

He goes in the category of Osaka for me now. Kind of always did. But I just don't care. The world is a conspiracy against him in his own world/head. If I had to umpire/chair a match with him in it, I would decline and say - no desire to be around him. He is a child/brat mentally.

I saw a twitter or tiktok from Andy Roddick, was funny. Was never a fan, but he gave a demonstration of how to throw your racquet. Said, don't do it, but if you're going to...do it this way. He just threw it nice and even horizontally down on the court. Then he said, don't do this - and chucked it 20 yards at a tree. Then, with a tennis ball, he said - if you're going to do it - hit it upwards out of the stadium....like this. Not at someone or something like this. In the clip he mentioned getting ahold of your behavior or something but I have to admit the clip was cute.

I tuned in to the Miami tournament to hear Courier gush over Kyrgios. I’m tired of hearing about how great he is and awesome for livin his best life. And I’m reminded when I hear his constant mumbling how much I dislike him. Blah

I didn't see much of Indian Wells, and neither final. But reading about Nadal - honestly it sounds like a pulled rib muscle. I had it once. It sounds like exactly the same thing. There's nothing you do for it but wait it out and don't tweak it. When he says breathing problem, that's exactly what it's like. Mine (believe it or not), I had been working out and afterwards had trouble breathing in. It made me laugh, so...I laughed. "this is ridiculous". "what is going on....hahahahahahaha." Then I couldn't breathe in after the air had gone completely out of my lungs. Then it wasn't funny, and I thought...my God I'm gonna die from not breathing???! (hahahahaha), and it did it again. Finally got my breath, and thought...not working out again. Going to the Doctor. At the Doctor, he said - pulled rib muscle. But it doesn't sound like you did anything working out, maybe only aggravated it. It was likely already there. So get this - he says, has there been anything recently that you did...any kind of straining or quick motion that you would have pulled it? Nope, couldn't think of anything. THEN BAM. It hit me. I said...wait...you know what? I was laying by the pool on my stomach on a lounge chair several days ago, with my feet hanging down on the concrete. A wasp (you know how they come and drink or get wet wings and can't fly)...crawled onto my foot and stung me while I was laying there. I flipped over FAST and mashed it off of me. The Doctor said - and that was it. That's exactly when you pulled your rib muscle...that's exactly the kind of motion I'm talking about. So....it was just a waiting game of several weeks before it went away. I'd bet 100% that's what it is with Rafa.

Venus looked amazing especially. This warmed my heart honestly. Long story but several years ago now, I worked with a girl that won a title that you would know. I was with a local for about 15 years in the system. Scholarship organization. After several years in our state of coming close, people around her encouraged her to come to us. You have to win a local in the system to compete at State and the group had a couple of local pageants in the system that she bounced between for 3 or 4 years. After those several years, her group told her to come to our competition because well...we did have the magic touch. She won our local, and then won State and then won the whole thing, as we always suspected she would. During her year she came into contact with the Williams sisters, and they invited her to a couple of events. Galas if you will. Actually totally galas. The national organization did not approve the appearances, even though she offered not to wear the crown or sash or anything. Contract did not allow it, and ultimately they deemed these were not 'appropriate' appearances because their "brand" was so important. That tells you enough about the 'brains' at the top of this organization. After that year I slowly backed away from involvement, and plus, we won it all. Well, she won it all because that's how our local was. The girls are competing, not us. Other locals in our state could never figure it out. And it was as simple as building them up, teaching them to believe in themselves, and watching them go get it. But after that experience I wasn't interested anymore. Her year was spent doing sponsor visits and doing what she was told. It was terrible. And we sat back, talked on our 'bat phone' with her, got all the dirt from the inside....and were shocked and amazed at the stupidity of how easy it could have been, to truly have a (insert the title right here) truly be 'relevant' and get us back in the media and on websites everywhere. Good for the Williams sisters. ("not appropriate appearances". HA! My God.

My sister put it so well. She's never liked Osaka (neither have I actually), but my sister's words yesterday were so appropriate. She said "My Lord what's wrong with her NOW!!? What does she want NOW?" Very simple, but I think that's what everyone is thinking and that's the attitude she's cultivated among the public. Maybe without even knowing it. I think that's how we all feel, LOL.

I’m sick of hearing about Naomi. Tired of the drama. At this point she’s become the poster child of rich people mental health problems and it’s coming across as attention whore central. As Dolly said - come down off the cross, somebody needs the wood.

Soap Storylines/Moments You Would Have Written Differently
GL - not really a re-write really but the Clone's death was done pretty well in the end. Although it would have been somewhat morbid I would have brought in Audrey Peters (Sarah) to play the Clone in the last few weeks of her life. It would have been like Reva seeing herself die, and her mother die again, and maybe some thought about what it would mean in the end to clone people.

B&B February 2022 Discussion Thread
I passed by and saw Steffy wearing houndstooth today. I like houndstooth (I really do, I'm a guy and wear it). But I wonder if that wardrobe person is still there. They announced about 2 or 3 or 4 years ago (I don't remember) someone new, fashion forward, Italian? Taking over wardrobe and how it was going to be excellent. That's when the downhill started that I DO remember when I was watching and the wardrobe was immediately actually barf worthy. In regard to the reports of massive crying on Brooke's part, I haven't seen it, but weren't they kind of always foisting that on Katie? Has Brooke taken over the role of Katie now for the crying department? I was a GL fan and Kim Zimmer/Reva was the appointed cryer for CBS. This sounds like it may be surpassing that territory. In GL's defense, Zimmer was a good cryer. You believed it for sure.
