  1. CBS and BET have simulcasted the Image Awards so considering that connection I'm wondering if the debut episode will be shown on BET in primetime after it airs on CBS Daytime in order to create more interest. With CBS and BET under the same parent company there is room for cross promotion.
  2. It will be exciting to see what these three actresses bring to the screen with these characters. The producers definitely are on the right track with casting and the rest of the cast should be on point. I have a feeling that Tunie and Mosley are really going to light up the screen together.
  3. This description really stood out. Possible DL character that could cause problems for the gay married couple?
  4. It's giving B&B vibes in that the profession of the main characters and/or family is a backdrop for the personal relationships and drama. These characters seem too rounded out for this to be just a political soap. What is impressive about this is that it appears to go back to traditional soap operas where the characters were actually developed from the first episode.
  5. It's not so much the political leanings that are a story but the machinations. The big drama in politics is usually within the ranks of the same party anyway.
  6. Politics is a driving force these days and almost everyone has been forced to pay attention to it so that was probably an easy inspiration. On the other hand politics is extremely soapy with all the backstabbing, conniving and ambition. Plus behind the scenes there is a lot more sex and adultery than you'd ever imagine (I've been behind the scenes in local politics for awhile and received some subtle overtures from a very conservative married man).
  7. Having veteran players is a must for success.
  8. Victoria Rowell is still mostly known for Y&R and it goes without saying that daytime actors/actresses don't work as often as they would like. Among daytime audiences she would be a good get and will more than likely be under consideration to be called. It was last year that the clip of Dru telling off her mother circulated on Instagram and had people who had never even seen Y&R riveted so she does have some pull to draw an audience. That aside I believe there are a lot of good casting possibilities simply because a lot of good Black actors/actresses don't work enough and a steady gig would draw them in.
  9. Being there at day one for a soap is a rare opportunity now so I think Debbi Morgan would take it. Granted she has experienced that via "The City", but this would be a new character with a strong leading presence. And it's possible that this show could utilize guest stints like never before for actors and actresses who didn't want to be permanent.
  10. Georgia gives some good tax credits for filming so budget wise it was an obvious choice and production may have cut a deal to use Tyler Perry Studios which is huge. Vivica Fox a strong businessperson and if she can get a regular gig as opposed to doing just Lifetime movies she will take it. And from a legacy standpoint it's a golden opportunity.
  11. The debate will be fun. Harris might have to go all Herb Callison or Nora Buchanan on Trump's ass.
  12. If it was a month out from the debut with no promotion then production would have dropped the ball, but we are still months away. There is a lot invested in this so it's highly unlikely it won't be promoted adequately.
  13. When I dream about soaps it is always like that, at random and in detail.
  14. I had a random dream a dream that Lisa Bonet, Kadeem Hardison and Chrystale Wilson were in this. Lisa and Kadeem were playing a typical soap couple and Chrystale was breaking up a fight between two women over a man. And new information will probably start trickling out during the fall when the new TV season starts. That's the time to start building interest.
  15. Exactly. You need to be a little bit closer to the premiere to start promoting. They could have done that but it lacks a hype factor without casting. Usually such a promo like that works when you can grab viewers with a name drop.
  16. It's hard to promote a show without a trailer or a promo featuring the cast. It so early and without a cast yet there was no one to be the face for the show.
  17. I thought about the Central Park 5 as well. He tried to railroad them and years later he is the one who got fairly convicted by a jury.
  18. Catalytic converter theft is a big problem but this is the first time I've ever heard of anyone being killed an incident over one. And anyone politicizing this is trash.
  19. Checked out a few opening scenes for soaps (not many too many to choose from since so most soaps are old and mostly lost). Several of them started outside which was probably to set the atmosphere for the locale. Loving started out with an introduction from Dorothy Lyman who was of course a big soap star then. It has been so long since a soap opera debuted that it's hard to say what the opening scene will look like.
  20. The matriarch being more of a grey character would be compelling. Not all good and not all bad is often not utilized as a character option (save when a villain has a rare moment of decency). Subtle vibes of favoritism between children would give great depth to stories.
  21. P&G and CBS were more conservative with soaps, but it's been almost 15 years since P&G did anything plus LGBTQ+ characters/storylines are somewhat in vogue overall so there is a good chance of some representation.
  22. Somebody needs to be doing Onlyfans (or the show equivalent of) to deliberately make their family upset. There has to be that one character that rebels just to do it.
  23. Final Draft is too expensive to crash like that. At over $200 it should work better. I had the full version years ago and I understand why professionals use it because it's great for editing and you can select which elements you want read out loud so you don't have to listen to stage directions read if all you need to hear is dialogue. I've been using Fade In for my scripts and it's pretty good.
  24. Makes sense. She doesn't have any daytime experience on her IMDB so she probably is trying to learn the terrain. Even producers should know how different daytime is than primetime and movies.
