  1. Can someone explain to me who the owner of Towers Club was? Was the building supposed to be a hotel? I read somewhere that Roger built it for Blake and was called Blakeview at first? Was Company always around? Even during the Cooper Diner years?
  2. Judith McConnell is stunning as always.
  3. I was shocked with Blaze's overacting. Girl, if you can't produce some tears, stop doing these things with your face. The Gio actor was not previously informed about the fall scene, right?
  4. Because she trusts these people, yes, it makes sense.
  5. Amy and Austin weren't even the show's first couple, that's an interesting choice. Perhaps because of the magazine world? Austin was a photographer, right? I always thought that Mac and Rachel were wedding guests in the reboot premiere. I wish I could watch L&F/FRFP online.
  6. Episode 1000 and... - Johnny is playing with family money because he wants to be as rich as Delia. Boring. - Maeve can't stand Siobahn. - Edmund just died and the Ryans could not have cared less. - Frank has been bought by Rae. I cannot understand whether I should view Rae as a Lucinda Walsh or an Erica Kane type. DHK is good as Frank, but the character is a mess. BTW he had the Luke perm before Luke Spencer. - John Blazo's Pat has really grown on me. No chemistry with Faith, but neither did Malcom Groome with any of the Faiths. I will really miss him when he leaves. - A fourth Mary, who now works for Thatcher Ross (played by Patrick Horgan). I like the actress, but no real chemistry with Jack. - Siobahn is my favorite character. The scenes with Jack were great. TPTB were crazy to let her go. - Delia has been recast. She is no longer the villain. just a ditzy blonde from "Victor-Victoria". I blame the writing. Ilene Kristen was such a unique presence, the show is emptier without her. - Jillian is crying, I am not watching her scenes. How could they kill a baby? Horrible story. - A very soapy story with a blind Tom, a clueless Faith and a young nurse who is trouble. Ryan's Hope is officially another soap opera. A very good one,I wouldn't dream of leaving the show. I am still watching, I love the bar, HG is a magnificent actress, her Maeve is amazing, I adore Roger and Johnny is always a lot fun, no other soap has a Kevin, but... It is no longer a 10. It is an 8. Ok, 8 1/2 . I still care.
  7. Linden Ashby's Curtis was a completely different character. I think the show should have played with Curtis and Ava against Jack and Stacey for years. The relationship with Lotty made him way too nice. Burke Moses was just there and Stan Albers was just a kid. I haven't seen any of the other actors. I loved the 1983 episode. The Donovans was all Marland. The Bristows were Agnes. The young crowd was Douglas and Agnes combined. I guess Jack Forbes is Phillip Spaulding all grown up. Perhaps Rick would become his Curtis. We know he had a Lily in Beth. I find it very interesting that Marland left GL and wrote the love story of an adopted heir and an abused young girl, while the same things were happening in Springfield.
  8. I am trying to figure out who the new HW could be. Someone who wants these returns, who needs them for his work?
  9. We could see parts of Cabot and Isabelle in Roger and Ann. The Forbes family was what really mattered in early Loving. Then came Shana, Gwyneth, Trisha and Clay. If the show had a more interesting Merril, Shana would not even be needed for a while.
  10. Early Loving had a lot of potential. So many early changes were a big mistake. Cabot, Isabelle, Father Jim, (perhaps Mike and Noreen?) were not needed from the start.
  11. A "forever" couple. Ridge and Taylor would do at this point. The show (and the Forrester family) needs some stability and structure. Steffy could be the family bιtch, perhaps I would keep RJ around as well. Steffy could be fun in a bickering marriage with Liam. They are married for business reasons. Brooke will never be a new Stephanie. Make her the underdog, kick her out of Forrester, have Ridge leave her for Taylor, have her lose everything and seek revenge and be the antagonist. In charge of a fashion house like Sally Spectra? Perhaps. A niece who is trouble. A fun trans assistant. A gay designer. A young Latina who idolizes Brooke. I would pair Thomas and Hope in order to cause drama between the two worlds. A younger husband for Brooke. A designer. She wants to make him the next Ridge Forrester. He could have an affair with Steffy. A young black couple moves to LA. He is a photographer, she is a model who dreams of becoming a fashion designer. They are our eye to this world. They are not rich, they want to make it big and they might have to choose sides. Structure. Diversity. Drama. LA vibe.
  12. It is creepy isn't it? Somehow I like it though. I want to know what is wrong with these people.
  13. On the other hand... when someone like GH Liz is single, viewers demand that she gets a love interest. The truth is that some people stay single out of choice and I would like to see that on a soap. I am bored with couples acting like lovesick teens and I believe that some of the most interesting soap stories were not love stories.
  14. The City's first year was shown in Greece, as were 1983-88 Loving episodes. I doubt anyone made a connection between the two shows. What I liked about the City was the Melrose/CPW vibe and of course Morgan Fairchild. I was not that crazy about the production style, always prefered the classic soap type. I had read the conclusion of Loving and I was shocked with the Alden deaths. Prior to the internet I used to buy Star Magazine in order to read the soap section lol. The only character I knew was Alex and I never really cared for him. I knew Angie from All My Children and was happy to see her. The stories bored me. Another example of daytime trying to do primetime. Lets hope that The Gates is a classic soap.
  15. I hadn't seen this promo before. This is the first time I got to see the first Holly.
  16. Thank you for the synopsis, it helps me understand things better. And it makes me run to your synopsis thread and read the stories of that era.
  17. I liked the Karen actress a lot. Is she the same actress who played Estelle on AMC? Kathleen Dezina, Matthew Crowles's wife? Who is the girl next to Janet? The 1975 cast in the second photo.
  18. Thank you so much, I am obsessed with 70s soaps. Anthony Herrera, I had no idea he was on Search.
  19. That's why I said cheap parody Contessa. Who says that a parody has to be smart and/or successful? I enjoyed the first JER run. But even back then I could understand that it was not soap at its best. It had great soapy elements but it was still a crazy show. The madness could not have lasted forever and guess what, soaps are supposed to. Ron must realize that Desperate Housewives was a hit twenty years ago and that Passions was never a hit. Soaps are not supposed to be like a sitcom. Or a joke. Once he understands it, he could be the great Ron of early OLTL and GH again.
  20. People act as though Days was Douglas Marland's ATWT before Ron and he ruined it. The truth is that it is a bad, shallow show, it has been that way since... forever? At least since JER, not that it was much better in the supercouples era. RC wrote the soap they hired him to write, he didn't ruin anything beautiful lol. DOOL's real problem are the horrible production values. It is almost shot as a cheap parody. He was good for quite a while on OLTL and GH, his instincts of how to fix these shows were good. The fact that Mo didn't like his ideas for GH makes me feel sympathetic to him. I wish we see him on Y&R. Perhaps for a year or two. Yes I know, Nikki might be a stripper again, but nothing is worse than a boring soap opera. Josh Griffith will never be fired so that someone like Nancy Curlee takes over. The truth is that he seemed to respect each show's (crazier parts of its) legacy when he showed up. Sounds better than business talk and mental illness after mental illness.
  21. The early years felt like a play or a BBC series. By 1978 this vibe is lost, the switch from Robert Costello to Ellen Barrett might have something to do with this.
  22. Perhaps she would have helped Frank with his political career, playing Rae's part in the story? Ending up with a daughter?
  23. Episode 817 All these 1978 recasts at the same time are shocking. Frank, Mary (twice!), Pat, Faith, even the boring Nancy Feldman girl. Hot Frank is ok for the generic triangle with Rae and Jillian, but I still miss nice Frank (Andrew Robinson). The second Mary was fine, I could even see the actress as Siobahn. The third Mary is embarassing to say the least. The show's heroine became an annoying woman who yells all the time and treats Jack as her wife. New Pat is cute and sweet, but he acts so shy and awkward. Thank God he doesn't share scenes with Delia. I don't hate him, but as most of the new faces on the show, he seems to lack the personality of the former actor. Same with Faith#4, but at least her version connects to Faith#1. Several nice people are gone. Clem, Bucky, Alicia and Angel. The hospital is no longer that important to the show and I am not sure I like where Rae is taking Ryan's Hope. I still love the Ryans as a unit, adore kitchen and bar scenes, love Maeve and Johnny and Siobahn is a breath of fresh air. Jillian seemed so sophisticated when the show started. Now all she does cry and yell. Seneca seems the only mature person in the Edmund mess. Roger and Delia are wasted on cutesy scenes. The stories (and the scenes) become soapier, the show is no longer gritty, it no longer feels like a play. But it is good, entertaining soap with some very charismatic actors. I know THE DOCTORS got a bar called Medicine Man which was run by the blue-collar Dancy family. Can you remember any other soaps that copied Ryan Bar? Oh and of course SEARCH brought Louise Shaffer, Michael Corbett and Peter Haskell when Ellen Barrett was EP, right? Did the Irish McLearys show up at the same time?
