Y&R: January 2026 Discussion Thread
Adam and Chelsea should leave, Nick and Sharon should run Crimson Lights and that's it, they have had enough drama for ten soaps and Victoria could become someone's mother-in-law from hell. It is time for Victor and Nikki to become the Edward and Lila of the show. And why does everybody have to be so rich on this show?

Y&R: January 2026 Discussion Thread
I haven't watched in years (I always try, but I get bored before the intro), but for some reason I gave Friday's episode a chance. I saw extras. The show looks good and the outdoor scenes reminded me of the Mal Young era. I realized that I ended up watching the entire episode, because the usual suspects were not around. (Not a Newman fan) Y&R could so easily be fixed, it is a crime what they are doing. And why is this Audra girl not one of the show's stars?

Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
I loved Andrew Robinson as Frank. He had amazing chemistry with the Ryans and his Frank was a nice guy. DHK was the hunky Frank, whom I also liked a lot. He also had great chemistry with everybody. GP was the hottest Frank for me and the last one was ok, but everytime I saw him I felt that I was watching the last days of an 80s primetime soap. He had that look.

I could not see Robin Mattson as a Bauer. By that time she was playing a different kind of characters and I would hate to see poor Hope turn into a nutjob. Although this would make a good excuse for never showing up for her son. In the 80s perhaps Marcia McCabe or Arianne Munker, who was wasted in the Valere story. I could see Patsy Pease or Kim Johnston Ulrich play Hope in the 90s.

Thank you so much for your answer. So I guess LOL was a small-town soap, right? How was Labine with that? I always think of her as a city soap writer. Do you remember any of her stories?

Can someone give us info on the way Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer turned this show around? I am fascinated by their work and would like to get some details about it. Any similarities with their other soaps?

I adored Claire Labine's work on RYAN'S HOPE, as well as everything I have seen from her GENERAL HOSPITAL. I would expect her to thrive on GL, what really went wrong? (Except Paul Rauch). Can you remember of some of the things she did and worked for the show? Any similarities-parallels with her RH?

I'd say the first five minutes. I have tried watching the first episode MANY times.

BTG: December 2025 Discussion Thread
First of all i don't care for actor names in a soap opening. The music theme is giving me nothing. The character images remind me of something in the late 90s-early 90s. I was expecting the first soap to premiere in 25 years to give us something new (or something really old-school), but I understand why TPTB might have been a little hesitant to try unfamiliar things. Something like the 80s ambulance opening, or images of the city like Capitol and Ryan's Hope would have worked for me.

Thank you so much! The truth is that I am intrigued by Hayley's story (who would have thought). I really don't want to watch Anita's story though. I am watching clips from time to time. What I don't understand is how Vanessa and the white nurse girl fit into the show as main characters. I don't like that the show is a lot like B&B and the 90s primetime soaps in some ways. Too many big stories within a year. I hate the opening. I like the fresh vibe and the new faces, some characters feel that they have been around forever and that's a good thing. But as I have said before, I wanted this show to be more soapy and old-school in some ways. It is mostly a directing thing.
