  1. Nothing malicious, but I suspect the sampling has changed in the new data/panel model that went into effect this season. It could be a more accurate measure than last year, but it doesn't seem like an apples to apples comparison. There's 4 occurrences out 86 of viewership downs year to year during an 8 week span. And 2 of those (versus BTG's first 2 weeks) are exceptional circumstances. I doubt the economy is a big factor, especially since those 55+ are the least affected. Household numbers went down every season during the great recession of 2007-2009. Even during the first weeks of Covid there were shows with YOY loses.
  2. Literally every daytime show up in viewers YOY every week for 2 months is pretty suspect. The only exceptions are 1 week each for TPIR & LMAD, and BTG compared to its first 2 highly sampled weeks.
  3. Given how much the show is trying to erase our memories of Luna implying RJ was a lousy lay, this isn't out of the question.
  4. Daphne telling Ivy to go for RJ was hilarious. She'd probably stop parroting her catchphrase once she got laid.
  5. LMAO, how inconsiderate of Disney to clarify Zhao's schedule before the biggest networking weekend of the year! And the nerve of Disney to put SMG's name out there when she wants to quietly promote what can be her first hit movie in 20+ years. Monsters! Seriously though, I don't think throwing that Hulu executive under the bus while making the Searchlight head look powerless will endear her in the industry.
  6. Good for Bill, Eric deserved to humiliated at the press conference for flaking on Katie and letting Ridge & Brooke clean up his mess rather than manning up and discussing it his sister-in-law himself. I can't say I'm disappointed with Eric going back FC this soon, I don't think there is much to gain in dragging this portion of the story out. It's not like Eric has explosive chemistry with Bill or Katie and we're missing out on tons of great Eric/Katie or Eric/Bill scenes. The meat of this story is Brooke & Katie's feud. Both KKL & Tom have really brought it in their last few confrontations. The writing has been better too. Even though I'm siding with Katie at the moment, I feel like today and last week Brooke had a more believable and sympathetic POV versus a few weeks ago. I agree that Hope & Liam's scenes last week were weak. They should have been Steffy/Liam scenes. It's strange that Steffy is more concerned with staffing FC's most junior positions, but barely has anything to say about the Eric drama. On another note, Crew Morrow has really improved in the last year or so. He was great during his confrontation scenes today. Centering the Gen-Z story on him is smart.
  7. I'm pretty sure JFP wanted to bring Lorna to OLTL as well. Robin Christopher joined the show as her AMC character shortly after Dano started. AW for Soapnet is the only explanation that makes any sense for this rumor. By the time AW ended, it was already in a demo tie with Port Charles, despite the latter show having lower clearances. PC even beat AW's last week in the demos. My theory is that ABC really just wanted Felicia & Lorna to go to OLTL, along with not wanting Tom Eplin join ATWT as his Jake character so they could be the main beneficiary of AW going off the air. I have no inside information on this at all, but my guess is that ABC proposed leasing the rights for the characters & then tried to sweeten the deal with a limited order for an AW continuation on Soapnet. In the end, P&G probably thought that they'd be better off trying to shore up ATWT.
  8. Thank you, I appreciate the explanation. I'm glad she was able to get some fun scenes before she left.
  9. Finn at the 10 minute mark of every episode this year Imgflip
  10. I agree with most of what was said about PC. @Soaplovers was right on the money that it was two disjointed shows slapped together: Lucy/Kevin/Scott and Debbie Morgan babysitting a bunch of newbies. A solution for melding the show together better could have been if DM's character was involved with Scott at the start of the show. I bailed pretty quickly, did she ever get to interact much with the boomers before she bolted? Morgan & Herring might have been good foils for each other. The writing was bad, but the directing was even worse. Everything was so low energy, even Karen stripping to #1 Crush to distract a gunman in the pilot. If ABC went this route, they might as well have gone all-in and made it an ABC super-spinoff, using characters from AMC & OLTL too. That said, it was a success in the ratings. It immediately improved the timeslot when the rest of ABC was falling. Shortly after its first year it started to regularly beat AW in the demos, despite lower clearance. As for hypothetical HWs to start the show, Shonda Rhimes is probably the pick, however unrealistic.
  11. Nice week for BTG. Notable that compared to its premier week (when it had its best demos) it had a better retention in W18-49 than Y&R did for the same week. Just 2% off Y&R's W25-54 YOY retention numbers too. As it stands so far this season, BTG is holding onto 71% of Bold's W25-54 demos & 68% of its W18-49 demos. It was at 83% for both in 2024/25.
  12. Man, this is one long-ass nap Eric is taking. Dylan & Will have good chemistry. It's been ages since there's been a decent under-25 pairing on this show. Maybe not since Liam was introduced 15+ years ago.
  13. What is it about playing Luke or Laura's secret bastard that makes an actor want to change their stage name?
  14. I liked Hope standing up to Steffy. However, the irony was lost on Hope that by supporting Deacon & Taylor, Steffy would be inserted into the one compartment of her life (her relationship with her Dad) that is Steffy-free. The actor playing Deke is fine, but I doubt he was promised anything other than steady work and a cheque when he signed on.
  15. Thanks for confirming! I guess we'll see what happens when (if???) Eric finally wakes up from his nap. I could be wrong but I suspect the Brooke/Katie feud will continue for a bit, regardless if Eric goes back. Not that I'd ever bet money on this show not dropping a story quickly.
  16. "Dylan Shaw (Sydney Bullock) confides in Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone) about Will." LMAO, way to bury the lede. Dylan turning out to be the stripper who cheated on Ivy's sister Jessica would be quite the twist!
  17. Good for Bold and John McCook, who was the focus that week. I don't recall ever seeing the show beating the full hour of Price Is Right in W18-49, let alone being #1 in all of daytime.
  18. A few months ago another poster suggested that Jane could have been cast as Beth instead after Bell secured Flannery. I thought it was a fascinating what-if and would have changed the whole trajectory of the show. Even if she didn't stay beyond her first contract...would there still have been a Sally Spectra a few years later? Did anyone else get the vibe that Storm played Bill like he had more of an interest in Thorne than just as a suitable husband for his daughter? His involvement with Margo seemed more like an arrangement. His flirtations were with women like Stephanie & Donna he probably knew he couldn't form a relationship with. And he owned Stud Magazine!
  19. The Stone storyline gets too much blame for the ratings going down. IMO, the problem was that it overlapped with Monica's story. IIRC, Stone getting his diagnosis happened around the same time as Emily's mom dying. Both stories were well written & acted but running them at the same time was just too much.
  20. I believe he contractually had to write for SB as he was in first position with that show and joined GH after the show was pitched but before it was picked up. In a way, Guza hindered the show before he started as its HW by reviving GH which was shaky from Labine's year. In many markets, both shows aired in the same timeslot. I think you're right about Tomlin's production and the writing being at odds. In the oral history, Pratt mentioned that there was fighting between Tomlin & Guza. Despite some bad acting, IMO Sunset Beach had the best first episode of any new soap I've seen. Guza was smart to focus the first half on Meg coming to town, then introducing some more characters before circling back to her. That said, the wheels came off very quickly before getting better. Or at least more entertaining.
  21. A big problem with Sunset Beach was that its creators seemed to view the show as a burden rather than their baby. Pratt was busy with Melrose Place. Guza (who was the HW at the start) saw the writing on the wall quickly and (smartly) went back to GH in less than 9 months. Didn't he volunteer to walk the plank for its bad ratings? Griffin turned down the chance to become HW. It was too late to save the show, but I enjoyed The City's revamp when they traded Sydney for Tracy. Bringing back Lorraine from Loving and the mob princess were great additions too. Ironically, Passions had the worst ratings debut of all the post-Generations launches by a long shot. But it stayed the course, became the only show to increase its ratings at the 1 year point and was rewarded with the longest run.
  22. Those are good gets! Vivica A. Fox is the only Y&R alumni that I associate more with movies than TV.
  23. It's even the same shot the last RJ had. I think one of the Thomas' had the same one too.
  24. Bill has always been controlling, so I don't see a problem with his micromanaging. It would be nice if that causes organic conflict between him & Katie. If Deke joins Logan, I assume it will be as Eric's apprentice not as a lead designer. Perhaps he'll run Bikini instead? But I suspect Will & Dylan will work there so they can keep running into Electra & RJ.
  25. I agree, the loss of Bold on Thursday most certainly hurt BTG that day. It still would have had an awful week in the demos if Bold had aired that day, but it probably wouldn't have matched (W18-49 - 54%) or set new (W25-54 - below 64%) demo retention lows.
