  1. Man, this is one long-ass nap Eric is taking. Dylan & Will have good chemistry. It's been ages since there's been a decent under-25 pairing on this show. Maybe not since Liam was introduced 15+ years ago.
  2. What is it about playing Luke or Laura's secret bastard that makes an actor want to change their stage name?
  3. I liked Hope standing up to Steffy. However, the irony was lost on Hope that by supporting Deacon & Taylor, Steffy would be inserted into the one compartment of her life (her relationship with her Dad) that is Steffy-free. The actor playing Deke is fine, but I doubt he was promised anything other than steady work and a cheque when he signed on.
  4. Thanks for confirming! I guess we'll see what happens when (if???) Eric finally wakes up from his nap. I could be wrong but I suspect the Brooke/Katie feud will continue for a bit, regardless if Eric goes back. Not that I'd ever bet money on this show not dropping a story quickly.
  5. "Dylan Shaw (Sydney Bullock) confides in Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone) about Will." LMAO, way to bury the lede. Dylan turning out to be the stripper who cheated on Ivy's sister Jessica would be quite the twist!
  6. Good for Bold and John McCook, who was the focus that week. I don't recall ever seeing the show beating the full hour of Price Is Right in W18-49, let alone being #1 in all of daytime.
  7. A few months ago another poster suggested that Jane could have been cast as Beth instead after Bell secured Flannery. I thought it was a fascinating what-if and would have changed the whole trajectory of the show. Even if she didn't stay beyond her first contract...would there still have been a Sally Spectra a few years later? Did anyone else get the vibe that Storm played Bill like he had more of an interest in Thorne than just as a suitable husband for his daughter? His involvement with Margo seemed more like an arrangement. His flirtations were with women like Stephanie & Donna he probably knew he couldn't form a relationship with. And he owned Stud Magazine!
  8. The Stone storyline gets too much blame for the ratings going down. IMO, the problem was that it overlapped with Monica's story. IIRC, Stone getting his diagnosis happened around the same time as Emily's mom dying. Both stories were well written & acted but running them at the same time was just too much.
  9. I believe he contractually had to write for SB as he was in first position with that show and joined GH after the show was pitched but before it was picked up. In a way, Guza hindered the show before he started as its HW by reviving GH which was shaky from Labine's year. In many markets, both shows aired in the same timeslot. I think you're right about Tomlin's production and the writing being at odds. In the oral history, Pratt mentioned that there was fighting between Tomlin & Guza. Despite some bad acting, IMO Sunset Beach had the best first episode of any new soap I've seen. Guza was smart to focus the first half on Meg coming to town, then introducing some more characters before circling back to her. That said, the wheels came off very quickly before getting better. Or at least more entertaining.
  10. A big problem with Sunset Beach was that its creators seemed to view the show as a burden rather than their baby. Pratt was busy with Melrose Place. Guza (who was the HW at the start) saw the writing on the wall quickly and (smartly) went back to GH in less than 9 months. Didn't he volunteer to walk the plank for its bad ratings? Griffin turned down the chance to become HW. It was too late to save the show, but I enjoyed The City's revamp when they traded Sydney for Tracy. Bringing back Lorraine from Loving and the mob princess were great additions too. Ironically, Passions had the worst ratings debut of all the post-Generations launches by a long shot. But it stayed the course, became the only show to increase its ratings at the 1 year point and was rewarded with the longest run.
  11. Those are good gets! Vivica A. Fox is the only Y&R alumni that I associate more with movies than TV.
  12. It's even the same shot the last RJ had. I think one of the Thomas' had the same one too.
  13. Bill has always been controlling, so I don't see a problem with his micromanaging. It would be nice if that causes organic conflict between him & Katie. If Deke joins Logan, I assume it will be as Eric's apprentice not as a lead designer. Perhaps he'll run Bikini instead? But I suspect Will & Dylan will work there so they can keep running into Electra & RJ.
  14. I agree, the loss of Bold on Thursday most certainly hurt BTG that day. It still would have had an awful week in the demos if Bold had aired that day, but it probably wouldn't have matched (W18-49 - 54%) or set new (W25-54 - below 64%) demo retention lows.
  15. For some reason her friend Steffy, who threw the shower for her, is morphing into Nancy Hughes and strippers would be not appropriate.
  16. She's been a pleasant surprise. This could have easily been an annoying and cloying part, but so far so good. It would be nice if the show keeps her as an unrelated character and doesn't suddenly make her Deacon's daughter. I hope Electra goes that route. The times when she's been nasty have been the most watchable.
  17. Ridge's nonchalant "not ideal" when Steffy told him Taylor was dating a married man was hilarious. Do Liam & Hope live in Brooke's guest house?
  18. Interesting that despite the multi-year viewer highs, only Bold beat one of its August demo highs (W18-49). And likely only because that was a rough ratings month for the show. TPIR averaged about 1 million more viewers in daytime vs its primetime special. I'm drawing a blank when the last time I tuned into broadcast or cable in primetime for something other than sports or big news events. Likely when the Crave app was acting up.
  19. GH has been pretty volatile week to week in the demos for a while now. Save for the MLB playoff week where they counted repeats, is this the first time it fell behind GMA3 in W18-49? Good rebound for B&B in W25-54. Not bad for the rest of the CBS shows either with Y&R up slightly and BTG's loss was minimal despite not airing on Monday when CBS tends to do the best.
  20. Would Miguel on GH qualify? I think he technically lasted over a year but was off-screen for months before he came back for his exit IIRC. I think Marshall Kramer on AW lasted over a year as well, but barely appeared before his exit. AW hired Randy Brooks from Y&R with great fanfare to pair with Felicia, but the show chickened out quickly and moved her into a Misery-knockoff storyline.
  21. Looks like BTG set a record for its best retention performance from B&B in W25-54 at nearly 90%. It also had its best W18-49 retention since August.
  22. In my OP on this topic I specified met. Didn't Dani know Andre since he was young because he was her sister's nephew?
  23. Of my last 3 posts on BTG's ratings, 2 solely pointed out a positive. On the week I noted its record bad demo holds, I did note that the week before it had its best hold since April.
  24. I'm one of the only people who pointed out how historically well did the show in the beginning. More than a smidge of times. I recently pointed out that the show had its best W25-54 hold since April. I don't apologize for talking about its ratings dip. It was real. And I've repeatedly pointed to the repeats being detrimental to its growth. Way more than I've brought up the creative. Go back and look. Where did I predict its swift doom? It'll end eventually like all shows do. Be it in December, or with the rest of the CBS soaps, or somewhere in-between. Nah, I'm giving my thoughts on the performance of the first, and likely the last, network soap launch. It was supposed to be laughable. You are correct, B&B has a horrible track record of Black representation. Diversity in general. "Even B&B did this!" wasn't meant to applaud B&B for the epic saga of Carter & Daphne Rose (epic was sarcastic BTW). It was a factual statement. Even if their execution is half-assed (it is). I'll post as I see fit. No one is forcing you to read my posts if you don't find any value in them.
  25. Thank you for the correcting my typo. I said it deserved to be renewed in April based on its (then) success with women under 50. But continue on with your fan fiction about my posting history. "I'm glad that people on this board are enjoying it. Not every show is for everyone. My opinion is also clearly the minority view as the show has been remarkably stable in viewers under 50. BTG's renewal will surely be announced shortly, and deservedly so based on its performance. Edited April 18, 2025 by bongobong"
