A seemingly injured Kyrgios is handing this set to Zverev. I wonder if he’ll simply retire from this match.

The show does feel extra laugh-tracky, like a show within a show. EDIT: That was actually better than I thought it would be. Everyone settled back into the rhythms of the old show so quickly. And the political stuff was handled relatively organically. Those first two episodes were great. They really captured what was fantastic about the show at its peak. And Sara Gilbert was the MVP.

Berdych played a shocking tiebreaker and lost in three. Tiafoe is currently on court with his next match against Kevin Anderson. This Shapovalov kid is good for 18. But then he goes and serves disastrously in his final game.- The Tennis Thread
What don’t you like about Tiafoe? Just curious. He seems to have more potential than his American next-gen peers.- The Tennis Thread
Tiafoe takes out Berdych.- The Tennis Thread
Love seeing Sloane methodically exposing Kerber’s weaknesses.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread
I guess. I can just imagine Sara Gilbert thinking to herself, “Damn, this is how you guys are running things over here?”- The Tennis Thread
Glad that Venus is getting a day off after these long three-setters. I wonder if Tiafoe can keep things up. He seemed to have Berdych’s number last night. I think this is the most interesting tournament in terms of matchups in a while, on both sides. Lots of new blood with a few veterans mixed in.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread
What a weird, awkward interview with Roseanne, John, and Sara on The View. Lots of dead silences and missed cues from Whoopi and team. Just very unprofessional.- The Tennis Thread
So interesting. Berdych was outhitting Tiafoe to start, especially with the wind as a factor, but Frances adapted pretty quickly.- The Tennis Thread
Oh snaaaaaap! Oh and Venus beat Konta’s ass. And Jo gave a nasty handshake as usual. I’ll be happy to see her plummet down the rankings.- The Tennis Thread
Venus is creaming Konta in the second set. I don’t want to jinx it given that Venus surrendered a 5-0 lead yesterday, but it’s looking good atm. EDIT: Venus won the 2nd.- The Tennis Thread
Oy. What happened with Venus? She had a set point, I leave for a minute, and Konta comes back to win it? I just want someone to beat that annoying woman.- The Tennis Thread
Steve called Justin a liar, and it wasn’t a “haha” moment. It felt edgy and uncomfortable. So weird. Viewers pointed out the tension and Justin responded: Verdasco has been whiny for a long while. It’s not a good look.- Netflix: One Day at a Time

Speaking of which, Justin Gimelstob and Steve Weissman seemed to be sniping at each other during the Kokkinakis/Verdasco match. Was that just very dry light-hearted banter or is there some animosity there? There are times when Tracy Austin appears clearly annoyed with Steve. Haha Nick deleted this tweet before Verdasco won:- The Tennis Thread
Total collapse from Schwartzman. Oh well.- The Tennis Thread
A lot of dumb unforced errors.- The Tennis Thread
For such a crafty player, Schwartzman is playing so stupidly against Raonic, whose serve is totally off. When you have three break points against a servebot, you have to seize your opportunities. And stop it with the dropshots.- The Tennis Thread
Chardy just beat him. Sheesh.- The Tennis Thread
Venus gutted out a three-set win because she’s a far superior player to Bertens, but I can’t help but think she’ll pay for that long match down the line. She plays Konta (who’s had cakewalk matches thus far) tomorrow. The men’s matches tomorrow look semi-interesting: Kyrgios/Fognini (oh the potential drama) Johnson/PCB Kokkinakis/Verdasco Zverev/Ferrer Khachanov/Anderson Coric/Sock Chung/Sousa Berdych/Tiafoe Querrey/Shapovalov- The Tennis Thread
Yikes, what happened with Venus? She was up 5-0 in the first set, and then Kiki Bertens won seven games on the trot to win it?- The Tennis Thread
Looks like Konta might be back in form, with relatively easy wins over two Belgians so far in Miami. She was in danger of falling severely in the rankings because of her title last year and all of the points she’d need to defend.- Y&R: Old Articles
