When Victor returned to Salem, he decided to cut his ties with Maggie. Victor and Maggie had fallen in love and he didn't want her in danger due to his dangerous lifestyle and now the threat the MCF represents. Victor used Nicole, who also wanted his help with adopting the baby and getting a job at Titan, to break his ties with Maggie. He created a setup where Maggie found him and Nicole in bed together only they hadn't done anything. Maggie ran off and Julie blamed Victor, even though she gave Victor the advice to cut ties with Maggie as well. Maggie has dipped back into her alcoholism on and off since Mickey's death and she went on another binge. She lashed out and set Chez Rouge on fire in a fit of rage. She quickly realized what she had done but fell and hit her head. The fire got worse, Julie was first on the scene and Doug entered to help but was hit by a beam. Hope, Roman, Steve, and many others were dragged into danger to try to save Maggie and Doug. Both were saved but Doug is in a coma and Maggie remembers what she did but not very clearly so she isn't quite sure of everything. The MCF was sick of Marlena and worried she would blow his or her scheme so he or she set her up by having her come to the fire scene and she was caught. Everyone beleives Marlena set the fire based on her condition and actions of late so Julie and Victor, who are trying to proect Maggie, chose to use that to help cover for Maggie. Julie is also worried because she is the one that convinced Victor to return to Salem. She went behind Doug's back and left Salem to see Victor to do this and Doug doesn't know. Doug would be furious as he and Julie were arguing back and forth about Maggie and Victor's relationship and Doug is not a big fan of Victor's. Hope that helps. Interviewer (I): Hello Francis. It's so good to have you here. Frances Reid (FR): Hello, dear. I am happy to be here. I: I know you can't stay long so let's get right to it. This week, Salem Lives is going to have a tribute to the late Lanna Saunders, who passed away recently. They decided to also write off the character of Marie as well despite Marie Cheathem being the role's originator. Do you agree with this decision and how do you feel about this tribute? FR: Well, let me say that Lanna was wonderful. She was a gifted actress and we all loved her so. It's hitting all of us that worked with her hard. I think what we are doing is wonderful. It's been dealt with properly and I think they felt that having the character of Marie pass as well was a good way to go to have a fitting tribute. I don't think it means any disrespect to Marie Cheathem. We all love her too and my understanding was they talked to her and there was no problem with this. I just think it's a lovely tribute and it's almost like an emotional journey. The fans will get emotional and feel they are right there with us. It's very fitting and moving. I: You have been seeing alot of time in the limelight lately. How long has it been since you have worked this much and how do you feel about getting so much play recently? FR: Great!!! I have never turned down working when asked. When the new writers came on last year, they told me they wanted to use me as much as they could and they have. They have me in the thick of things with my family and friends and it's great because it's not just me being there for an appearance. I am active, giving advice, and getting some good material. That is really true lately with Marie's death. That is the the most powerful stuff I have had to play in years. I: You have been playing Alice Horton for over 42 years and have been acting for much longer. How do you keep going at this pace, especially with your increased workload, and how long do you plan to do this? FR: I will do this for as long as I can. I love doing what I do. Always have. I dont want to slow down at all. They can have me work everyday. I will be there. I: Thanks so much for talking with us. I know you have to finish filming some more scenes so we appreciate it. -At the Spectator office, Greta return and joins Frankie, Jack, and Billie. They are all pleased that Victor is gathering the surveillance videos they think can break this case open. Jack hopes they are right about this and that this is the big lead they need to finally catch this MCF and break the lid off this story. Meanwhile, Alan meets James in an isolated area of the Salem Park and tells him everything is set. James is pleased and asks him again if he is sure he knows what his part is. Alan says he does. He just hopes they don't get in trouble with the boss. James says he doesn't care. They would be asked to take care of this problem anyway and he has a personal issue with Jack and Billie. They practically led his family to their death and they are still not stopping in their quest to end their plot. The boss would want them stopped and James admits he will feel a great deal of satisfaction and retribution if he is the one to do it, which he intends to be. -At Salem Place, Kate is walking around trying to get her mind off her troubles. She still can't beleive Lucas, Will, and now Philip are shutting her out of their lives. She admits she only has herself to blame. Her meddling and behavior led to this. She doesn't know how she is going to get through this. Meanwhilee, on the other side of Salem Place, Lucas asks Carrie again what is going on. Carrie says she already told him and Sami that nothing is wrong. She just wants to be left alone right now. Her child just died a few weeks ago and she has alot to deal with. Lucas understands but admits that it seems like more is wrong. Carrie begs Lucas to just leave her alone and to tell Sami to back off too. She appreciates their concern but she doesn't need their help nor does she want to talk right now. Lucas understands and apologizes. He reminds her that despite all the lies and all the pain they have all endured and caused, he still cares about her and always will. He is just concerned, as is Sami. Carrie thanks him. They embrace. Lucas tells her to give Sami and him a call if she needs anything. Carrie nods as Lucas leaves. Carrie then sits down and breaks down in tears, knowing she has to tell the truth and get this off her mind but wonders how she is going to do it. Over by teh dry cleaners, Austin asks Sami if she has a problem with him proposing. Sami realizes Austin thinks it's something romantic and Sami says it's nothing like that. She will always care about him but she doesn't want him back. Her future is with Lucas and they are happy. Austin asks her why she seems not on board with his decision to propose. Sami reluctantly admits that she just doesn't think it's a good idea to propose. Austin then asks her why as Lucas comes up from behind and says: Lucas: Because Carrie is upset about something and is definitely hiding something. Meanwhile, near the Salem Place cinemas, Nicole tells Eric she doesn't wish to speak with him right now. Eric smiles at Evan and comments on how Nicole seems likev a natural mother to the baby. Nicole says that he has a name...it's Evan. Evan Michael. She doesn't have a last name yet since it depends on what happens with them. Eric nods. She admits she wanted him to name it but decided to do it herself after last night. Eric apologizes but tells Nicole they have alot of issues to work through. He professes his love to her and adds that he doesn't want to give up. He thinks they have something worth fighting for. He admits maybe they rushed into this marriage due to his illness but thinks they can still make it. He apologizes for being so harsh on her in regards to Victor and the baby thing. Nicole is still silent. He says that he simply wanted the truth and felt there was more to the story. He knows she loves that baby but he just didn't want to adopt him like this and rob others out of a chance. Nicole asks Eric about her chance. She feels this is right and has felt like that since they found the baby. She can't explain it but knows she did the right thing here. Eric takes a deep breath and says that maybe they should drop it. He just wants them to talk and find a way to work things out. He asks her if she is willing to do that and give their marriage a chance to work. Nicole remains silent. Eric asks her if she wants a divorce. Nicole replies that she honestly doesn't know. Eric is shocked and asks if she is even willing to give their marriage a chance. Nicole tells Eric she needs to think it over but that she has to go. Eric tells her to call him. Nicole doesn't answer and just walks off as a depressed Eric looks on, wondering if his marriage is over. As Nicole walks through Salem Place, she realizes she is tired and needs to sit. She goes over to a bench and finds a crying Carrie there. Nicole asks Carrie if she is alright. Carrie says she is fine. She just has alot on her mind. Nicole understands as Carrie has been through hell. Carrie sees Evan, which turns her face from one of sadness to one of joy and happiness at the sight of the child. She asks if that is the baby her and Eric found. Nicole smiles and says it is and that he is officially adopted now. His name is Evan. Carrie is happy for Nicole and Eric. Nicole realizes Carrie has no idea about her and Eric but remains silent. Carrie looks at the baby and comments on his beautiful eyes. Nicole thanks her. Carrie asks if she can hold him. Nicole is reluctant at first based on Carrie's emotional state since her baby recently died but,eventually, agrees. Nicole says she could really use a cup of coffee anyway so she asks Carrie if she could hold her while she gets one. Carrie says she would love to and Nicole puts the Evan in her arms and says she will be back Nicole leaves. Carrie is left with Evan and can't help but feel a connection to him. She smiles at him and they both seem to be in their own little world. Meanwhile, on the other side of Salem Place, Kate's cell rings. She answers it and answers "Hello" repeatedly with no reply. Finally, she hears breathing on the other end and asks whoever it is to say something. The scene shifts to who is on the other end of the phone and it is revealed to be...THE MCF!!! MCF (via voice changer): Hello, Ms. Roberts. Kate: Who is this? What is going on? What do you want? MCF: Calm down. Don't ask questions. Just listen. There is something you will be quite interested in over on the park bench by Ballistix. It's something that will drastically affect two of your children and could change your family forever. Kate: What are you talking about? Is this some sort of secret I don't know about? What is the meaning of this? MCF: I told you no questions!! It is a secret. One you hold the key to learning if you just listen to me and go where I told you to go. Now good day, Ms. Roberts. Kate: Wait! (hears the line go dead) Hello! Hello! (looks at phone) Who was that? My caller ID doesn't have a name...the voice was almost mechanic...like this person was using a voice changer of some kind. I wonder why they wanted me too...well, I guess there is only one way to find out. -Back at the Spectator, Frankie hangs up one of the desk phones and says that Nico just called. They will have all the surveillance tapes gathered and brought over by tomarrow night. Jack, Billie, and Greta are pleased and all of them hope that this will lead to this investigation being over sooner, rather then later. Meanwhile, James is talking on his cell to someone and hangs up. He then turns to Alan and says: James: It's all set. The trap has been laid. Deveraux and Reed are going to get what is coming to them. Tomarrow night we strike. Alan: Why tomarrow and not tonight? James: Because it would be too obvious. They were just at the bar with me last night. I want them to let their guards down and not expect it. Plus, there is a Horton family funeral tomarrow. That family is like royalty in Salem. It will work as a nice distraction and as a effective means to make sure there aren't as many people around to get us caught. All eyes will be on that and I am sure Deveraux will be there. Once he leaves there and once we get him and Reed where we want them, we make our move. They won't know what hit them. -Back at Salem Place, Sami and Austin ask Lucas what he is talking about. He says he just ran into Carrie and she is very upset. He thinks it may be about more then just her baby dying. He still thinks she is hiding something. Sami asks Lucas if she is worse then when they talked to her before. Lucas says it was...she is a wreck. Austin asks them both why they didn't tell him this right away. Sami says that seeing the ring he bought caught her off guard. Lucas asks about the ring and Sami fills him in on Austin's plan to propose. Sami thinks it's a bad idea given how Carrie is feeling. Lucas agrees. Eric then arrives and asks what is going on. Sami fills him in and asks if he is ok. He explains that he just talked to Nicole and thinks don't look good for them. Lucas says he can relate. He knows Nicole all too well. He is just sorry that she is hurting Eric again. It seems she is still the same Nicole and that she hasn't changed at all. Eric nods and says he is beginning to think that same thing. Back over on the bench near Ballistix, Carrie is holding the baby. Kate arrives and sees Carrie holding little Evan and sees nothing else around. She wonders why whoever called her would want her to see Carrie holding a baby unless whatever she really was meant to see is gone. She decides to move in closer. Carrie: Oh, sweet Evan. I had a son just like you. He was beautiful too and had the most gorgeous blue eyes...just like you Kate walks up and can now hear what Carrie is saying. Kate: Wow...this is the happiest I have seen Carrie in weeks. It's almost like she is...glowing. Carrie: You know, my son had a cute little nose like yours too from what I can remember. God...I can't even remember him. My own son...it's all my fault though. I made the choice. I thought I was doing everyone a favor but I wasn't. I didn't want Lucas and Austin to fight. I didn't want families destroyed because of the paternity issue...I just thought my baby would have a better life. I was wrong. I should've never given him up...I should've never let Alan take the baby away like I directed him. Now I will never find my son and never get to hold him like this and...(Carrie breaks down in tears) Kate: Oh my God...Carrie's baby isn't dead? I knew something more was...Alan. I knew he did something. He had some sort of stake in all this somehow... Carrie: Sweet, Evan...I feel so connected to you. I don't know why. Holding you like this...I feel like I did when I held my own son. That is a feeling you never forget. Looking at you and those sparkling eyes... Carrie then has a flashback to the night she gave birth and the moment when she held her son and then gave him to Alan to take away. The scene then shifts back to present time as Carrie looks at baby Evan and then begins to tremble. She then looks deep into Evan's eyes and says: Carrie (tears in her eyes): It can't be! It's not possible. Your the baby Eric and Nicole found...on the same night as mine went missing. The cabin I was in was only 30-40 miles away from Green Mountain Lodge...but Alan was taking the baby to the hospital. He wouldn't just drop it off at the lodge...but you look...I feel so connected. I feel so close to you and looking into your eyes and remembering that night I held my baby...Oh my God!!! You are...your my son. Your my little boy!! (crying) You have to be! I can feel it!! Kate (listening): That's it. Whoever called me...this must be the secret. But how did Nicole...wait, Henderson!! My talk with Henderson yesterday. He said Nicole has been around Victor alot lately and harassing him for something. She must have something to do with this. Nicole then returns to Carrie and Evan and asks Carrie if everything is alright. She sees that Carrie is crying and asks if something is wrong with her or Evan. Carrie: Nothing is wrong. Everything is right...for the first time in a long time. Nicole: I don't follow. Carrie: Everything is right because this baby you and Eric found...this baby...is my son. You and Eric adopted my son, Nicole. A stunned Nicole stands silent as a curious Kate watches as the screen fades out on a jubilant Carrie's face. On the Next Salem Lives... Alice to Hope: It's going to be one of the hardest days of my life. Your children aren't supposed to leave this world before you. Julie to Maggie: You didn't set that fire, Maggie. That is what you are going to tell the police. Eric (watching Nicole): What are you hiding? -At Cal and Katherine's cabin, Katherine comes downstairs. She is upset about sleeping too late and then comes across Cal asleep in the couch. She goes near him and he then wakes up, feeling her presence in the room. He asks if she is feeling better. Katherine says she was never sick. She was just upset. Cal asks her what she wants from him. Katherine: I need to know. I need you to open up to me!!! Cal: About what? Katherine: What your feeling? I know you had some sort of nightmare or breakthrough last night but you didn't tell me. I am still your doctor, Cal. I should've never let this go. I should have never stood by and went along with your desire to leave your past behind. I brought you out here to get away from the outside world and everything that was familiar to you from your life as Roman Brady. That doesn't mean I want you to leave all those you grew to care about behind. Your past is important, Cal. Just giving up...you will always wonder. You will always have that feeling of having so many blanks where they should be memories. Cal, I know you have grown to care about me but I am just not sure how much of that has happened as a means for you to try to forget the past and move on from it. I can't help feeling that I am your escape and your distraction from remembering. I know you are scared about what you may find out but...I am here. You have to get answers...deep down you want to get answers. He then takes his coat and walks out of the cabin as tears stream down Katherine's face. -At Salem Place, Eric is having coffee at Java Cafe when Greta approaches him. They embrace and he asks how she is doing. She says she is fine but asks how he is. Eric asks how she knows. Greta says she went over to the Horton's to express her condolences concerning Marie and Lucas was there. He heard it from Sami. Greta apologizes for what he is going through. Eric fills her in on what happened and greta agrees with Eric that it does seem weird how Victor would help Nicole without something in return, especially based on their past. Eric says he feels like she is leaving alot out and he feels like he can't trust her. He also feels like she thinks it was a mistake to marry him or that maybe they rushed it due to his illness. It just seems like Nicole hasn't changed one bit and is still the same selfish, manipulative she grew to be when married to Lucas and Victor. Greta says she isn't sure what is going on but one thing she knows is that Nicole loves Eric. She saw that when Nicole learned Eric was dying. Greta reminds Eric that Nicole gave up her lofe and job in LA for him. Eric mentions how Nicole seemed bitter about that. Greta says that may be true but she knows Nicole loves him. Greta tells Eric he can't give up on her but Eric says he isn't sure what he can and should do. Greta: Go to her. You love her and Nicole isn't stupid. There is no way she would pass a guy like you up. Eric thanks Greta and says he doesn't deserve a friend like her, especially after putting her through what he did when he was ill last Fall. Greta reminds Eric that he is special to her and she will always care about him. She would do anything for him. Eric dittos that sentiment and they both embrace as he thanks her for listening and for her advice. -On the other side of Salem Place, Austin and Nicole have just left the jewerly store. Austin takes out the ring he bought for Carrie and asks Nicole if she is sure that Carrie will like this. Nicole says she loves it but it won't matter with Carrie. Carrie isn't like her in that Carrie will appreciate anything Austin gives her. Nicole admits she has expensive tastes so her standards are higher but it won't matter for Carrie. Austin thanks her for her help. Nicole says they are friends and that is friends do. Nicole admits she doesn't have many friends so she is thankful for Austin being in her life. Austin says he is glad to have her as a friend too and says he hopes she knows she can always come to him about anything. He will never judge. Nicole is suspcious and asks what that means. Austin says it means what it is. Nicole says it seems like he is hinting at something. She tells Austin to just come out and say it. Austin admits that he feels she is holding something back from their discussion earlier. He insists he only wants to help and he feels like she is involved in something that could really mess things up for her. Nicole gets upset and says: Nicole: I thought I was here to help and here you are interrogating me. Some friend you are. Austin: Nicole, come on. You can trust me to not say anything. I just feel like if you tell me everything I can help you more... Nicole: Oh yeah. Right. Honorable, sanctamonious Austin. So, if I tell you I did something illegal, your not going to tell anyone? Right? Austin: Did you? Nicole: Answer my question first. Austin: Eh...it depends what it is. Nicole: I knew it. You would never bend the rules or stay silent about someone that did. Austin: So, you did do something... Nicole: You know what...this conversation is over. Austin: Nicole...come on... Nicole's diaper bag then falls on the ground after slipping off her arm and she goes to pick it up. Austin helps her but Nicole says she doesn't need it. Austin insists. Nicole realizes all the formula she had spilled out and that Evan is due for a feeding soon. Austin says there is a convenience store around the corner that has stuff like that. He can stay with the baby. Nicole is reluctant but realizes she needs to go since Austin isn't familiar with what Evan needs. Austin says to consider it an apology for his interrogating her. Nicole agrees and says she will be back soon. Meanwhile, Austin holds Evan and feels a connection to him. He looks into Evan's eyes and says that those beautiful eyes remind him of Carrie's eyes. -Sami is walking out of Ballistix at Salem Place when she bumps right into Carrie. Carrie apologizes and Sami says it's fine. Sami notices Carrie is upset and asks if she is ok. Carrie says she is fine. She is just looking for Austin and the office said he was at Salem Place. Sami tells Carrie she knows something is wrong with her and says it's best to get things like that out. She knows all to well. She thinks that maybe she can help. Carrie doesn't think so. Lucas then walks up and greets Sami with a kiss. Sami asks how everyone is at the Horton's and Lucas says it's tough but they are being as strong as ever, especially gran. Carrie feels bad that she hasn't called them yet but says that she will. She gives Lucas her condolences. Lucas thanks her and asks if everything is ok. Sami tells Lucas she just needs time with Carrie. Lucas agrees but Carrie says it's not necessary. She tells Sami thank you for caring but that she has to go. Carrie then leaves in a hurry as Sami watches her, wondering what is going on. -Back at Katherine's cabin, a frustrated Katherine wonders what it's going to take to get Cal to open up to her. His future and their future together may depend on it as she isn't even sure how much he loves her or is just using her as a distraction or escape. She just wishes he would let her in and would consider not turning his back on his past and learning more about the life he can't remember. Meanwhile, Cal is roaming around in the woods and is remembering all of what Katherine told him before he left. He admits that he now sees what he has to do, especially if he wants to be with Katherine and have a happy future with her. Cal: I need to do this...I want to. I have to. I love Katherine and it's time I show her how much. I need to prove to her that I'm not using her or that she is not my escape or anything like that. She needs to know without a doubt. She has never been found love in her life and it's time she really feels that kind of love in all its greatness. I think I know just what I have to do. -Back at Salem Place, Nicole returns and takes Evan from Austin. She asks how he was. Austin says he was an angel. He also apologizes to Nicole again. Nicole says not to worry about and thanks him for watching Evan while she went to the store. Austin tells Nicole he doesn't want to lose her as a friend and should've never questioned her again like that. Nicole says it's fine. She doesn't want to lose him either because it's not like she has ab abundance of people that like her or are friends with her. She apologizes herself for flying off the handle and thinks they should drop it. Austin agrees and says he must go. He thanks Nicole for her help. Nicole thanks him too. They embrace as he then leaves. As he leaves, Austin wonders to himself what Nicole isn't saying. -At the Java Cafe, Sami and Lucas are kissing and enjoying each other. Sami can't get Carrie off her mind and says she knows something is wrong. Lucas reminds her it's none of their business. Sami agrees and says he is right. Sami then remembers that she forgot to pick up her dress from the dry cleaners for the funeral. Lucas says he will go with her but Sami insists he hold their table as she only has to go around the corner and will be right back. Sami races around the corner and opens the door to the dry cleaners and nearly hits Austin, who is examining the ring he bought for Carrie, in the head when he isn't paying attention coming around the corner. Sami apologizes but Austin says it's his fault. He wasn't paying attention. Sami notices the open ring box on the ground and picks it up. She studies the ring and realizes Austin bought it for Carrie. Sami asks if Austin is going to propose to Carrie. Austin nods and tells her not to tell Carrie. It's going to be a surprise. Austin notices an upset look on Sami's face and asks if she has a problem with him proposing to Carrie. -Back on the other side of Salem Place, Nicole is sitting on a bench with Evan and is feeding him his formula. Eric approaches her and says hello as Nicole gives him a cold look. Eric tells Nicole they need to talk. -Back at the Java Cafe, Lucas gets up to get a newspaper to read while he waits. Meanwhile, Carrie is nearby and is frustrated she can't find Austin. She reiterates that it's time she tells him and everyone else the truth. Lucas comes up from behind and asks Carrie what she is talking about. Carrie is caught off guard. Lucas asks her what she is hiding and why she is so upset. Carrie remains silent as the screen fades out. On the Next Salem Lives... Jack to Billie (with Frankie and Greta): Hopefully, this will our big break. James to Alan: It's all set. The trap has been laid. Deveraux and Reed are going to get what is coming to them. Eric to Nicole: Do you want a divorce? Sami to Austin: I just don't think it's a good idea to propose. VENDETTA CLIP #4 At The Spectator offices, Jack is with Billie and Frankie and they are discussing Victor agreeing to help them. Jack: I am glad Victor is going to help get us those surveillance videos. I feel like they may lead to breaking this thing open. Billie: I do too. I mean, this cloaked person isn't superhuman. He or she has to hvae been caught on one of these cameras around town. Frankie: Hopefully, he or she has because I am pretty much out of ideas after this one. I mean, there is always Marlena but who knows what she could give us. Billie: Yeah but she is not allowed visitors and I get the feeling she may not even be capable of giving us anything worthwhile at this juncture. Jack: Well, if this current idea we have fails, then she may be our only choice. The scene then shifts to Marlena's padded cell in the psych ward of University Hospital. Marlena: I wonder how things are on the outside. My cloaked friend's grand plan is most likely underway. They have no idea what they are dealing with. First, their lives will be toyed with and destroyed and then they will be wiped out. Each and every one of them that have been targeted. I have to get out of here. I must...I will not let my plans go unfinished. I just her to be desperate enough...just like Steven was. The MCF then walks over to a door on the other side of the office and opens it, revealing a surveillance center full of surveillance monitors. The MCF sits down and accesses one of them. We then see that the MCF is monitoring what happened between Kate and Philip and then is observing Kate and Henderson's conversation about Nicole and Victor. The MCF seems fixated on this. MCF: Interesting...Philip's need for power could be of service to me as his father is becoming a thorn in my side yet again. Nothing new there...gold old Vic has always been like that. Seems the lovely Ms. Roberts was quite intrigued by Nicole and Victor's issues, just as I thought. She is perfect...she will further my plans quite well. Lucas and Philip turning their backs on her will only help me to use the beautiful Kate to my advantage. The MCF then looks at another monitor of Salem Place and watches Nicole with Austin and also sees Sami and Carrie walking around. MCF: Ah...the gorgeous Nicole Walker-Brady. Desperate to hold on to what is hers and always looking to end up on top. All you need is a little scare and you will be eating out of my hand. (flips cameras and looks at Carrie on the screen) Carrie, Carrie, Carrie...we can't have you telling the truth yet. I am not through with you all yet. Looks like I will have to act sooner then I anticipated. The MCF gets up and turns the monitors off, closing the door to conceal the surveilance center. The MCF then turns the lights off in the office and closes the door behind him or her as the screen fades into...

-It's a new day in Salem as Roman, Kim, Shane, and Caroline are all with Kayla at her suite. Kayla is confused and frustrated as there is no sign of Steve. He didn't even leave a note. Caroline promises that they will find him. Roman advises Kayla to just stay clam. The will get to the bottom of this. Kayla asks Roman how she is supposed to stay clam when her husband goes missing. Roman takes Kayla in his arms. Roman: Come on, sis. It's going to be fine. Have I ever lied to you? Kayla gives Roman a sarcastic look as Roman looks down in shame. Roman: Never going to let that go, are you? Kayla: Not right away. Look, you and Kim and even Shane have to understand...it's not going to be easy to forgive and forget. We may never do that. If we do, it's going to have to be in time. You all told told some pretty big lies and now you all have to pay the piper. Roman, that lie about the ISA operation you and Bo were involved in and then you and Kim keeping Bo's molestation a secret...and Shane....covering for Carrie and letting her be exposed to Alan like that for months all alone...it's just going to take some time for all of us to swallow all this and understand this. Kim: I just hope you both know that we are sorry. Shane: We know we all were wrong in our respective cases but we just want it understood that we had our reasons and feel genuine remorse for our actions. Caroline: I think we all know that, Shane. Lucas apologizes for being late but says that he and Sami stopped to see Maggie on the way over. He is pleased she is doing better. Alice is happy to see him. Lucas vows to be here for Alice and the family during this difficult time. He then shares with her the news that Will and himself now have "Horton" as their last name. Alice and Julie are stunned but Lucas explains he felt he should honor his Horton heritage and take his father's name and also felt Will should follow suit. He just thinks it felt right. Alice says it's fine, as long as it is what he and Will wanted. Lucas says it is. Meanwhile, Sami's cell rings and she excuses herself. It's Eric, who tells Sami he needs to talk with her. Sami says she will be right over and goes to inform Lucas she has to go. Sami tells Lucas he can stay and she can take a taxi but Julie offers to bring Lucas home later so Sami can take Lucas's car. She thanks Julie and embraces both her and Alice, apologizing for their loss. She bids them goodbye and leaves. -Nicole is at Salem Park, playing with the baby. She finally decided on a name for him...Evan Michael. She was going to wait for Eric to decide with her but it appears that he may not be around anymore. Austin walks up and asks Nicole what that means. Nicole admits it's funny how they always seem to bump into each other when she is depressed or has some sort of problem, just like they did when she knew Eric was hiding something from her a few months ago. Austin asks what is going on and Nicole fills him in on their argument the night before. Austin asks what it was all about and Nicole explains how she went to Victor for help and he gave her Lucas's old Titan job and helped pull some strings to adopt the baby Eric and her found. Austin asks Nicole why Victor would help her, especially since he hates her. He asks Nicole what she had to do for Victor. -At the Salem Inn, Carrie is asleep on the couch and is tossing and turning. We then see that she is having a nightmare where her baby returns to her 18 years later all grown up and blaming her for giving him up, whatever her reasons were. Carrie then jumps up and says she can't take this anymore. -Back at Kayla's suite, Kayla asks Caroline if she feels that she is being too hard on Roman, Kim, and Shane. Caroline thinks it's only natural as she feels the same way about all the lies but also admits that she has told her fari share of lies too with her affair with Victor and so on. Kayla says she thinks time heals all wounds but it wasn't one lie. They all lied and Roman was involved in two big ones. Caroline thinks that after some time, things will get better. They are all under alot of stress right now with all the bad things happening so, once things settle and people aren't so on edge, cooler heads will prevail and they will work things out. Their family is strong and it can handle this, just like it has handled so much else. Kim is overhearing all this as Shane comforts her, reassuring her it will all work out for all of them. She just needs to have patience and Kim hopes he is right. She knows Roman and her made a mistake and it ate away at her for years. It still does and she feels horrible. She just hopes to make it up to everyone and that they can forgive her. Roman comes up behind her. Roman: They will. Don't worry, Kim. It will be fine. Roman embraces Kim as he looks at Kayla and Caroline, both of who make eye contact with him, and the hurt and pain over all the deceit is evident in both woman's eyes. Roman notices and a look of guilt and regret crosses his face. -At the Horton House, Alice and Lucas enjoy some of her famous doughnuts with Julie. They are now talking about Will and both Alice and Julie reassure him that Will will tell him and Sami what is wrong with him when he is ready. Lucas hopes so. He feels something could be really wrong and is worried about what may happen soon if Will doesn't get help due to his silence, if he needs help of course. Alice tells Lucas to just hope and pray that it all works out. They have loved ones up above looking out for them and they will all make sure that their loved ones are protected and that things work out in the end. Lucas thanks Alice for her words of comfort and laughs, saying he should be comforting her. Julie laughs and says: Julie: That is what grandma does. Always worried about others before herself, despite her mourning too. Grandma, you are truly the most amazing, strong, special woman and person I know. She gives us all hope...hope for better days to come. Alice: Oh, stop. You will make me blush. We are all special in our own way. I have to be strong and hopeful...for all of you. This family needs to stick together and be there for each other...through it all. Good and bad. We always need to have faith, hope,...and love. Those are what keeps us going. Lucas: Amen to that!! Where would be be without you, Gran. Julie: I ask that everyday and I hope we never find out. Lucas and Julie both embrace Alice, as she puts her arms around them lovingly. -At Eric and Nicole's suite, Eric has just explains what happened the previous night with Nicole to Sami. Eric explains that it's over for him and Nicole. Sami reminds Eric that Nicole is not her favorite person and that she doesn't really like her and him together but thinks that Eric can't give up like this. Nicole and him have to talk and see what is going on. She admits it seems like there is more to it like how did she get Victor to help after their hellish marriage and why she is so hellbent and having this one baby. Sami knows Eric loves Nicole, much to her chagrin, and that is why he needs to go to her and they need to talk and figure out everything. The blanks need to be filled in and then they can decide if they have anything left to fight for. Eric thanks her for her advice and for her unbiased approach. He knows she isn't a big Nicole fan. Sami smiles and says he knows she would do anything for him. They embrace as he says that he hopes he can get answers so that all this can be settled...one way or another. He needs to know if there is more to this and...if Nicole and himself are finished or not...this time for good. -Back at the park, Nicole tells Austin that her and Victor just decided no let the past go. He has enough issues on his plate to worry about. Austin thinks there is more to it and Nicole gets upset, saying Austin is just like Eric. Not trusting her. Nicole tells Austin that her and Eric are through and she doesn't even care so maybe that fact means that she made a mistake marrying him. She always wondered if they rushed it and if his illness at the time forced them into making a decision they shouldn't have made. Austin thinks that is possible but thinks her best bet is too talk to Eric and try to work things out. He knows that Eric loves her and she loves him. He saw that much when Eric was ill and he thinks what they have is worth fighting for. He warns her not to give up that easily. Nicole thanks Austin for the talk and says she has to get going. Austin says he does too. He is planning something very special for Carrie. Nicole says it sounds nice. Austin admits he has been thinking about this since they found Carrie. She has been through so much with the baby and all that he feels she needs this. They both do and that is why he made this big decision. Nicole asks Austin if he is going to propose to Carrie. Austin nods and says he is off to buy the ring now and says he could actually use a woman's point of view. Nicole smiles and asks Austin if he is hinting at something. Austin smiles and is silent. Nicole agrees and says he has done so much for her so it's only fair. He thanks her and she thanks him back, for everything. They then walk towards Salem Place. Meanwhile, back at the Salem Inn, Carrie says she can't hesistate. She needs to go through with it this time. She has come close before since coming back to Salem but this time...she has to do it. It's time....she can't let this eat her alive. It's time she tells Austin and everyone the truth...that her baby is alive and that she gave him up. -Steve is packing his belongings in a hurry at his and Kayla's suite. He is hoping to be done and gone before Kayla returns. Soon after, he has finished packing and is about to leave the bedroom when he hears Kayla walk in and asks where he is. -At their cabin near Green Mountain, Cal and Katherine are asleep. Cal begins to have a dream about Katherine and him getting married. She is walking down the aisle and he is smiling. A dark shadow then overcomes Katherine and the chapel. Cal looks around confused. Katherine disappears and Cal asks where she went. The sound of gunshots and screaming men can be heard in the background. The scene then shifts to a battlefield with soldiers running around, avoiding gunfire and explosions. Cal then jumps up, awake and sweating. The jolt of his waking up gets Katherine up and asks asks what is wrong. -At the Kiriakis Mansion, Kate demands Philip tell her what he is up to. Philip: I will just use the power I have. I am a Kiriakis. I am the heir. Kate: You don't have the power you father had when he died. What little power and influence you have is not enough. Not even your war hero reputation is enough. Philip, you screwed up. I don't think you have any choice right now but to agree to Belle's demands. Philip: No! I am not agreeing to that bitch's offer. Whose side are you on, anyway? Why are you encouraging me to give up like this? Kate: Philip...Belle doesn't love you. She is offering you visitation and maybe, with time, things will get better and she will grant you more. I know you think the four of us shouldn't be involved and that this is dangerous but we are working on this under the radar and... Victor: I should remind me of Jack and Billie's involvement with the two McCluer children. That hardly makes them an unknown in all this. Greta: Yes, I know. But they aren't the obvious people to be working on this. This cloaked figure and his or her lackeys are going to have their eyes on the SPD, ISA, and you and Stefano. You all are in the limelight. I will not allow my Alexandra or my Theodore to get swallowed up by the mystique and influence of the Dimera's. I will not lose them. I lost so much time and so much of life because of the Dimera's. Katherine: Yes, you do. I shouldn't have let you keep ignoring it or trying to push it away. I should've keep pushing but we have been getting so close and...Cal, I don't want you to give up trying to remember or learn about your past. I don't want you to act like there is no hidden past from you. You are using us...what is between us as a means of escaping your past and that can't happen. I won't let it. If you want to be with me because you want to and because you love me, fine. But if this relationship...if this thing going on between us is more an escape for you or a distraction rather then about love and you having actual feelings for me then...I don't want to be with you. Cal is silent and looks at Katherine before putting a shirt and pants on and walking out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him as a frustrated Katherine lays back down and puts her hands over her eyes angrily. -Back at the Kiriakis Mansion, Philip orders Henderson again to get Kate out of there. They are both appalled. Philip tells Henderson to do it or he will see to it that he loses his job or faces a demotion. Henderson reluctantly obliges and takes Kate to the door. Henderson (whispering): I am so sorry, Ms. Roberts. I didn't... Kate: It's ok, Henderson. I don't know who he is anymore. Henderson: Neither do I. I thought he couldn't be any worse then he was while Mr. Kiriakis was presumed dead but he is. With Mr. Kiriakis being gone so much, the young Mr. Kiriakis takes advantage and throws his weight around at his behest. Kate: I see. He is truly becoming his father...only he is on pace to be worse. I will have to talk to Victor. Henderson: Well, I am not sure when you will be able to. Mr. Kiriakis is quite busy. Kate: yes, I figured. He is helping with the clocked person case and is probably helping Maggie. Henderson: Yes and Mrs. Brady calling all the time doesn't help...opps. I shouldn't have mentioned that. Me and my... Kate: Mrs. Brady...Caroline? Henderson: No. I meant to say Ms. Walker since she recently married...ugh. Did it again. Kate: It's ok, Henderson. You had a tendency to slip at times. She realizes she has now lost both Lucas and Philip and blames herself. With tears streaming down her face, she wonders what she is going to do now. -Back at Salem Place, Victor is looking into Greta's eyes and then looks down and then back up. He reluctantly agrees to pull some strings and arrange for them to see the tapes on one condition...they must report all their findings to him. Greta and Frankie agree and thank Victor. Victor tells them to not let him regret this and to share that sentiment with Jack and Billie. He wishes them both a good evening and tells them he will be in touch. Greta and Frankie thank Victor again. After Victor leaves, Frankie asks Greta what she did. Greta doesn't understand. Frankie says that Victor didn't seem to be caving but when she and Victor looked at each other straight in the eyes, something changed. It almost convinced him to help them. It's like they had a connection. Greta shrugs her shoulders and says she has no idea but it worked and that is all that matters. Frankie says he will go get the car and leaves. While alone, Greta says: Greta: We do have a connection, Frankie. Victor is my father. Somehow he felt it, just like when he agreed to help Eric a few months ago. Just like I did. The connection worked to our advantage though. Oh how I wish I could tell him...tell everyone but...I can't. I just can't. (a tear streams down her face) -Back at Steve and Kayla's suite, Steve hides in a closet as Kayla searches the suite for him. She comes close to finding him as she is about to look in the closet but is interupted by a noise from outside. She goes to check it out and finds out it was nothing but a dinner cart falling over in the hallway. While Kayla is outside the suite, Steve sneaks into the main room and hides in a closet in there. Kayla comes back insider and goes back to search the bedroom. As she does, Steve emerges and quietly opens the door and leaves the suite, quietly closing the door behind him. Kayla hears something and returns to the main room, asking Steve if he is there and then asks herself where is he. Meanwhile, Steve walks away from the suite and then turns back, saying: Steve: I'm sorry, Kayla. I have to do this for all of us. For our family. For you. I have no choice. I'm sorry. Steve then turns away from the suite and walks down the hall as the screen fades out. On the Next Salem Lives... VENDETTA CLIP #3 The MCF returns to his or her secret hideaway in the abandoned warehouse office and sits down at the desk. MCF: Now that I have Steven on board...it's time to seek out more aid for my plans. The MCF looks at the picture shrine he or she created and begins to laugh. MCF: All I need is to wait until desperation sets in and then...I make my move. The scene then shifts to Tony and Anna, who are still imprisoned in their cell in an undisclosed location. Anna: We're never going to get out of here. It's been months since we were imprisoned. Tony: Yes but not together. It's only been about a month since you were brought to this cell. I was only here for a little while prior to your arrival. I was in another cell elsewhere. Actually, it was more like a turret you would find in an old European castle. I was then blindfolded and brought here. Anna: After they nabbed me, I was put in some sort of basement. It seemed like the basement to a church or something. It wasn't far from where I was in Milan though because they blindfolded me and we arrived in 5 minutes, maybe less. I was there for awhile and then they blindfolded me and brought me here. Whereever here is...it is certainly far away from where I was held first because it felt like I was blindfolded for days. Tony: Yeah...same here. Wait...do you hear that? Tony and Anna race to the cell door and catch a glimpse of a man. His face is covered with a black shroud and he is clearly wearing a expensice designer suit. Tony: Excuse me. Hey!! Speak to me, man!! Good God you can at least turn around and face us!!! We are locked in here...we can't do anything. I just want some answers. I just want to know where we are and why you're... Mystery Man: Mr. Dimera! If you are going to start being difficult, then disciplinary action will be taken. You will not interfere in this operation...too much work and effort has been put in. So...shut your trap and just make nice here with the lovely Ms. Fredericks here and there will be no trouble. Tony: That voice...it's muffled. The mystery man takes out a cell phone and dials it. Mystery Man: It's me. I think the Count knows who I am...he recognized by voice. MCF (from his or her office hideaway): I thought we agreed you wouldn't speak. Mystery Man: I tried not to...I needed to shut the Count up. I attempted to make my voice different and... MCF: No matter...they are imprisoned. They can't stop us...no one can. Everything is right on schedule. Soon, the grand event we have been planning...the grand event we have been waiting for will commence. We will have our revenge...just as long as you handle everything properly from your end. Mystery Man: I am. Everything is going smoothly. I just want your word...I don't want you to double-cross me. MCF: If you don't stab me in the back, I will treat you with the same courtesy. That was our deal. Mystery Man: Fine. Just as long as you keep to your word. MCF: I will, just as long as you. I will call soon to update you on things from my end. Mystery Man: Very well. Ciao. The Mystery Man hangs up, as does the MCF who begins to laugh after hanging up. MCF: Stupid fool. They're all fools. Promises mean nothing...apparently no one buys into the idea that you never trust anyone. (looks at the cell phone he or she just spoke on) As soon as I am done with you, I will toss you to the side like the useless garbage you are. Just like I did Marlena. Belle is about to call back to Henderson but Philip's menacing look convinces her otherwise. Henderson leaves and then the heated discussion between the three commences: Belle: You know I didn't say anything to Henderson because I want to negotiate terms with you first. If you refuse my demands, then I will spread the word like wildfire. Philip Kiriakis...wifebeater!! It will be a PR nightmate for your family and you. You will be finished and Victor won't be happy. He will strip you of so much of the little power you do have. You will lose your honorable reputation as a war hero...you will lose alot Philip. You have already lost alot. You can prevent all that by... Philip: By what? I mean, what is this, a peace treaty. This is ludicrous. Kate: No, it's not. You are not in a position to make demands right now. You may not take her out of Salem or the country. This deal is non-negotiable and, the way I see it, it's better then nothing. You will still see your child, Philip. Philip: Yeah but...it's my daughter. I shouldn't have to be supervised or... Belle: Non-negotiable. Have your lawyers draw up the papers and have them signed in in 24 hours or...I go to the police and media and tell them you hit me. And Kate, that is where you come in. Should your son not agree to my offer...you will either side with me against Philip or never see your granddaughter again. You will act as my witness or, like I said, never see Claire again. Kate: Belle, that's not... Belle: Fair? Don't talk to me about fair. No more will I be a doormat to you, Philip, or anyone else. I am going to do what it takes to protect my daughter. Belle then walks out of the mansion, leaving a stunned Philip and Kate behind. -Jack, Billie, Frankie, and Greta are hard at work doing research on the MCF case and James McCluer at The Spectator. They are trying to come up with a new plan of action. Finally, Frankie suggests somehow talking to Marlena as she was working with James and the MCF. Greta reminds him that Marlena is not seeing any visitors. Jack says that never stopped them before. Billie thinks that going to Marlena is not a good idea right now. She then mentions how the MCF is hard to catch and track. She wonders if any of the surviellance cameras in public places all over Salem have captured any images of the MCF. Jack says that is a good idea but asks how they will get there hands on all those old tapes. None of them have the authority or the power to obtain those materials. Greta says she knows someone who can help. Meanwhile, outside The Spectator, James watches Jack and Billie and vows to make them pay. He says he will just have to deal with them on his own before they cause more problems but will need a little help. He places a phone call via cell phone to someone and tells them to meet him at the Olive Rd. warehouse district ASAP. James hangs up and says: James: Your time is almost up. -On the pier, Steve asks the MCF what the meaning of all this is. MCF (via voice changer): I can give you what you most desire. Steve: What is that? MCF: Your past. The truth. I can give you your memories back. I can give you your life back. Steve: How? MCF: Because I know all about your past and your condition, Steven. Steve: It was you!! Your the one who broke into the motel room in Chicago. I remember now...you stuck a syringe in my leg and that is when I forgot everything I had rememebered. MCF: Very good. Yes, Steven. That is right. Steve: Why? How? MCF: I have my sources. That is how I know all. To prove that my offer is legit, I will tell you all about your little memory lapses of late. You see, the syringe I injected you with contains a drug...one that targets the area of the brain that controls memory. It compresses it...so much so that any sort of traumatic and high level activity, such as remembering important memories of the past like you were, would be all but erased because of the drug and it's affects. It causes no permanent damage unless an extreme dose is given, in which case your memory is completely eradicated. At the scene of the Chez Rouge fire, I switched the EMT's syringe with one containing this drug. I knew you had a breakthrough during the injury you sustained in the fire so I took action. Steve: Why do you want to stop the progress I make? MCF: Because I needed you in the position you are in so you would agree to my offer and help me. I should also tell you, Steven, that the syringes symbolize the torture you endured after Lawrence faked your death and sold you into Dimera captivity. Mr. Dimera's men...they injected you with many drugs and used various means of torture and brainwashing. Syringes were used so often that the mere sight of one, given the vulnerable state of your mind during that time in your past, reminds you of those horrifying memories and images. That causes your convlusions and violent reactions to memories, along with the drug. Steve: How do you know so much? About my past? My faked death? How... MCF: That is my business. I have told you enough. Here is the deal. I need you to go to Europe for me. Lexie Carver and her Dimera task force are going there on some business that is a threat to me so I need you to follow them and report what happens with them to me. That is it. No questions asked. If you don't do this, I will make sure your memory is completely wiped out. Your family and friends will suffer and you will continue to live a life of empitiness. You have a daughter and wife. If you love them, you will agree to my terms. Do you understand? Steve: Look, I don't want to hurt anyone. If you plan on sending me too kill Lexie... MCF: No one is going to die. Just go pack your things. (Hands Steve pile of cash and an envelope) That should cover everything. In that envelope, you will find plane tickets and everything else you will need to complete this mission. Just go and follow her and her men. Don;t be seen. Call the phone number in the envelope and keep all of this quiet. Do all that and all will be well and your reward will be great. Understood? Steve contemplates the MCF's offer and realizes he has no choice. He needs to agree for his family's sake and for his. -Back at the Kiriakis Mansion, Philip lashes out at Kate. Philip: What am I going to do? Kate: Don't look at me. You screwed up. I know I am not the best mother but I would think if you learned one thing from me it was to never hit a woman. God knows...based on my life experience, I did my best to instill that in you. Philip: I lost my cool. It was a mistake. Kate: Yes, a mistake that may cost you your daughter and maybe more. Philip: Maybe not. Not if I have my way. Kate: What are you up to? A confused Kate looks at Philip, wondering what he is thinking. -Back at Eric and Nicole's suite, Nicole comes out of her room, carrying the baby who is all dressed to go out. Nicole has a suitcase packed. Eric asks her where she is going. Nicole is silent. Eric: Is that how it's going to be? You wanted this, didn't you? That is why you didn't put my name on the adoption papers? You wanted to destroy us and make it look like I quit. Nicole: Whatever, Eric. I don't care what you think or say. You already made up your own mind. I am taking my baby and getting the hell out of here. Eric: Always about you. There is just one thing I want you to remember. Meanwhile, outside the suite, Nicole holds the baby near the elevator and says: Nicole: We don't need him. We don't need anyone. I still have everything I wanted. Well, not everything but I have you, a great job...it will be fine. We will be fine. I will see to it. -Back at The Spectator, Greta mentions that Victor may be able to help them. Frankie, Billie, and Jack doubt it but Greta says that she can go over and ask him. He and Stefano are helping Roman and the SPD on this MCF thing afterall. Jack says it's worth a try and that Greta is best to do it since Victor never really liked him. Frankie offers to go with Greta and she agrees. Jack and Billie wish them luck. Meanwhile, in the Olive Rd. warehouse district, James meets with the person he phoned...IT'S ALAN!! Alan asks what is going on. James sarcastically mentions how Alan hasn't done anything lately. Alan insists he is lying low for awhile, with good reason. James reminds him he is always on call and says he needs his help. Alan asks with what. James: Two pests need exterminating. Now, take what I gave you and go. This meeting must end before we are spotted. Remember, not a word to anyone. Steve: Yeah. Got it. Steve leaves as the MCF watches him leave and begins to laugh, saying: MCF: Good. With good old Mr Johnson on board, the plan can progress. Right on schedule. The MCF laughs as the screen fades out. On the Next Salem Lives... Kayla to Steve (who is hiding in a closet): Where are you? Philip to Kate: You are either with me or against me and, by the looks of it, it looks like I no longer have a mother. Greta (with Frankie) to Victor: Will you help us? Please... Be there for a Salem Lives event!! Last week, it was announced in the Salem Lives Insider that a tribute to the late Lanna Saunders would take place on the April 5 and April 6 episodes. It was also mentioned that Salem Lives has decided to write off the character of Marie Horton permanently. Fans already saw this plan begin to be realized last week when Alice (Francis Reid) recieved word of Marie's death and news quickly spread to loved ones in Salem. Next week, fans will be treated to two special episodes dedicated to the character of Marie Horton and, more specifically, Lanna Saunders who was considered by many to be the definitive Marie Horton. Fans may note that just last summer the character of Marie was portrayed by Marie Cheathem, the role's originator, but EP/HW Tim Lowery says he feels this decision is the right one. "I feel doing this way is a tribute to Lanna and Marie understands that," says Lowery. "Marie originated the role but Lanna had such a big impact on all of us. She will be sorely missed and fans of all ages will be treated to a fitting and very emotional tribute next week. I can promise that. My co-EP/HW Patrick L. Ewing was the brainchild behind this and I know he is going to throw himself into this, like he does in all his writing for Salem Lives. It's just going to be a great tribute." Below is a list of the actors and actresses who will be returning for this special occasion. "We are thankful they could all make it back on such short notice," adds Lowery. "Jaime, Kale, Lisa, Alli, and Jed only left us in December so that wasn't hard but the others we really haven't seen since last August during the funerals then. I am grateful they are all here. It wouldn't be the same without them." The actor is great and it just opens another story door for the future, kind of like last summer when we brought these funeral guests on and hinted at possible future stories. It keeps some options open." Berris will appear ONLY in the April 5 and 6 episodes. In other big casting news, look for a BIG surprise on May 1 as that day will mark the one year anniversary of Salem Lives. "We have someone big coming on that day," admits Lowery. "We are going to keep it a surprise until this person appears. It's a big name actor and one that will shock everyone. It will really shake things up and it's a great way to celebrate Salem Lives' one year anniversary. Between VENDETTA and this person coming aboard, it really shows what we have been about since day one: solid story and entertaining fans. The fans will love it so look out on May 1 for that."

INSIDER SPOTLIGHT: DRAKE HOGESTYN STOPS IN TO TELL US ABOUT HIS TRANSITION FROM JOHN TO ROMAN, HIS HEAVY WORKLOAD, AND ON WHAT SALEM'S BELOVED HERO WILL DEAL WITH NEXT. Interviewer (I): Hi Drake. Long time, no talk. Drake Hogestyn (DH): Hey. It has been awhile. Great to be here. I: First off, tell us how last year went for you. How did you feel when the new regime took over and told you that you would be playing Roman again? DH: I wasn't stunned. I knew Tim (Lowery, EP/HW) and his co-HW Patrick (L. Ewing, Co-EP/HW) wanted to do it. They told me on the first day they felt it should've never been changed and that they wanted me to return to being Roman. I love the way it was handled. They took care of every detail and made it make sense. The way it happened during the island story, which I loved, was fantastic. It was a whirlwind couple of months. Actually, from the time the new regime took over until the end of the year was a whirlwind. So much happened and it was one big thing after another, at least for my character. I: Was it hard transitioning into playing Roman again? DH: Not really. At first, it was but you pick it back up after awhile. I played Roman for a long time, not as much as John but still. Alot of the elements I put into John are elements I put into Roman when I played him. The difficulty is to make sure you don't play them similar and that you make sure the audience can make the distinction. If they feel Roman is too similar to John, then I'm not doing my job. I need to pay special attention to that but I think it has gone well. I: Since going back to being Roman, he has been through alot. You had Marlena's (Deidre Hall) "death," the Dimera/Kiriakis war, reuniting with Sami (Alison Sweeney) finally, Marlena's return, the big reveal about concealing Bo's (Peter Reckell) molestation with Kim (Patsy Pease), and now you have an emotional story with Marlena where she is dealing with MPD. You are everywhere! DH: Tell me about it. You also left out my involvement in the MCF story and in my daughters' stories. It's fun but it's exhausting. I have some time off coming up but then it's right back to the grinder after that. I don't mind working but it does get confusing since I am in so many stories but I like how Roman has become so pivotal again. I like the flaws being exposed in him like his lie to his loved ones about the ISA mission and his sin of omission concerning Bo being molested. It gives me more to play and no one wants to play a character that is perfect because no one is meant to be perfect. I am enjoying myself being back in Roman's shoes. There has been lots of action, drama, suspense...it's been a blast. Sydney was great...everything is fun to me right now. I: I know you have to go but can you give us some hints on what is coming up? DH: Not many. There are still some issues in Roman's past that need to be dealt with. The MCF story is heating up. Roman has to deal with some issues with his children and he has a big fight on his hands with Marlena and her condition. His being in an unholy alliance with Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) and Victor (John Aniston) will lead to something no doubt. I can't go into much as this VENDETTA thing is so huge none of us want to blow it so I will just shutup now before I blab (laughs). I: Well, thanks for joining us. -At the Kiriakis Mansion, Philip is reading the paper in the living room when Nico drags a kicking and screaming Belle into the house. Philip tells Nico it's about time. Nico reminds Philip he works for his father and only did this because his father approved. Philip sarcastically says he knows and that he understands his level of power. Nico coldly looks at him and leaves. Philip: Long time, no see Izzy. Belle: Shutup. I should have you arrested... Philip: For what? Wanting to see my wife. I have been more then reasonable, Belle. I haven't seen or talked to you since the night... Belle: Your father returned from the dead and stripped you of all your power. Philip turns away. Belle: Aww...poor baby. Still whining, aren't we? Philip: Shutup. Just because I don't have all that power, doesn't mean I can't use what I already have. My father...my father wants you and Claire here just as much as me so it will happen. Whether you want it to or not. Belle: I don't care who I have to face. You, Victor...whoever. I will fight with all I have to make sure you never get your hands on Claire. You can have me but you can never have her. Philip: Strong words but you can't beat the Kiriakis name and power. I may not be the head of the empire anymore but I can still use all it's resources and I can go to my father. You don't stand a chance. Not a chance. Phillip and Belle coldly stare down each other. -On the pier, Kate continues to break down in tears over her and Lucas's latest altercation and his and Will changing their last names to Horton. She begins to contemplate all the mistakes she has made and all the meddling and tells herself she did this. She just never stopped to realize her actions were doing more harm then good and now she may have lost Lucas and Will. -At Eric and Nicole's suite, Eric arrives home and sees Nicole holding the baby they found at Green Mountain. He asks her what is going on. She tells him he is theirs now. She asks him what names he has picked out. Eric looks at her and asks her what the hell she did. -Steve and Kayla return to their suite. Kayla can see Steve is upset about his therapy session and she tells him it's ok. He will continue to make progress and eventually they will get the results they want. She tells him they will get their life back. Steve smiles at her. Kayla suggests she go and bring them some food from the restaurant downstairs. They can then have a nice meal and relax. Steve insists she doesn't have to do that but Kayla says she wants to and tells him to sit and relax. She leaves. Steve decides to take a shower while he waits. As he gets up from the couch, he sees a envelope slipped under the door of the suite. He goes over and picks it up. He opens the door to see who left it but no one is outside the room. He goes back in the suite and studies the envelope, which has his name on it. -At the McCluer home, Greta tells Frankie that he still hasn't answered her questions. Frankie says he isn't sure how to answer that question. He admits he likes her alot and thinks she is beautiful but he isn't sure how deep that goes. He also admits there is an attraction but any guy would be stupid not to be attracted to her. She is so kind and giving and has such a vibrant personality that it would be hard for any guy to resist her. Greta laughs and says that guys have. Her track record in love is horrible. Frankie reminds her that his is too. He just isn't sure of what is between them yet. All he knows is she is a good friend to him and with everything they have going on right now, it may be best that it stays that way and they can just see where things go. Greta smiles and agrees that may be best. If something is meant to happen between them, it will come naturally and with time. She says she is glad they had this talk and Frankie agrees. They then go back to searching the house. -At the Bullseye bar, Billie tries to pull away from Jack as her blouse is caught on his jacket. Meanwhile, James is on his way back from the bathroom and notices everyone in the bar fixated on the dance floor. He sees Billie trying to pull away from Jack and misinterprets it as Jack attacking her. He races over, pulls Jack off Billie, and punches him. Jack hits the ground and James tells him to stay the hell away from this women. Bllie panics and explains that she was dancing with him when her blouse got stuck on his jacket. He is the guy she came with. The bartender comes over to calm things down and explains that they did come in together, calling themselves Dena Higley and Tom Langan. James asks why she was flirting with him then. Billie explains that it's her nature. Jack mentions that she has a wandering eye and isn't exactly a one man woman. James looks at both of them and admits he can't help but get the feeling something strange is going on here. The bartenders says he isn't the only one. He tells Jack and Billie that a number of regulars at the bar are very suspicious of them and don't like them being here at all. Jack says he is sorry to hear that and maybe they should just leave. The bartender says it's up to them. They seemed nice enough earlier but if they are going to keep causing a stir then it may be best. Jack and Billie collect their belongings and leave. James tells the bartender something was not right with those two. He felt like he knew the girl earlier and now he feels like he has seen the guy somewhere too. He just can't think of where. Meanwhile, outside, Jack and Billie can't beleive how close that was. Billie reminds Jack she said this was a bad idea. They knew this place was very exclusive and practically the whole bar was suspicious of them. She only hopes James wasn't. -Back at Kayla's suite, Steve opens the envelope and reads over the note it contains. He appears both confused and stunned by what it says. He then says that he hates to this but he has to go figure out what this is about. He can't find any paper to write a note to tell Kayla he went out so he just leaves, hoping to be back soon or before Kayla gets back. -Back at the Kiriakis Mansion, Belle and Philip continue their argument. Meanwhile, Kate appears outside, saying that Lucas and Will may be on the outs with her but she still has her other children at the moment. She hasn't seen Philip in awhile and needs to see how he is holding up with Belle being so difficult with him and with Victor returning. Back inside, Belle defiantly tells Philip she will do whatever she must to make sure he never has Claire. Belle: You will never have Claire. Never. Do you understand? Philip: Belle...I have had enough. Enough of these back and forths. Enough of me being patient. It's time to get the ball rolling so here's the deal. You have 24 hours to have you and Claire moved in to this house. If you don't, then I seek full custody of Claire and take her away from you and your family for could. That's it. No comprise. Now...do you understand that? Belle: Go...to...hell!! Philip grabs Belle and tells her this is his final warning. She either does as he says or loses Claire. Belle admits she isn't afraid of him. He is nothing. Victor has all the power and she doubts he is going to have the time right now to devote to helping him. Victor needs all his focus and resources to bust the MCF from what she hears. He doesn't have the time for a minor matter such as this. Philip violently begins to shake Belle and grabs her even tighter. She tells him to stop as he is hurting her. He grows more and more enraged. Philip: With or without my father, I will find a way. I will use all the resources I can. All the power I can. Claire is mine. I will have her. I will have everything I want. Everything!! Belle: Let go of me!!! Stop it!!! Philip: Do you understand?! Belle! Do you hear me?! Claire is mine! Mine!! Belle: Never!! You will never have her!! Philip then tells her to shutup and smacks her across the face, sending her to the floor just as Kate walks in. Philip: Bitch! Philip then sees Kate is there as Belle begins to pick herself up. Kate: Oh my...Philip. What the hell is going on here? Belle (holding her face): Yeah, Philip. Why don't you tell your mother how you just brutally hit your wife. A stunned Kate looks at an enraged Philip as Belle, who gets up off the floor, coldly stares at him. -Back at Eric and Nicole's suite, he asks her again what she did. Nicole says it was nothing. She just had some strings pulled. Eric asks by who. It had to be someone with major connections and power. He then sees a "Titan Industries Employee Folder" and asks why she she it. Nicole says she starts working at Titan again tomarrow. She is taking the position vacated by Lucas. Eric then realizes who Nicole went to for help. He asks her if she went to Victor. She is silent. He then raises his voice and tells her to answer him. Nicole gets upset as he is scaring the baby. She puts him down in the bedroom and returns to Eric. She admits she went to Victor and asked for a job and for his help. Eric reminds her that he was going to do everything he could. He is a Brady and that is a good name that people indentify with respect and honor around here. Nicole: That may be but it's not the Kiriakis name, Eric. We were never going to have him if I left it to you. Eric: Then, we would just have to accept it wasn't meant to be. There will be other babies but we can't control fate like this. Nicole: I wanted this baby!!! This is the child we were meant to have. This is the life we wanted. We have the baby we found...the baby we wanted. You have the job you want and now I have the job I wanted. Eric: Just couldn't let me have anything, huh? I knew you were upset I was working and you weren't. You just couldn't accept me being more successful then you and... Nicole: You? More successful then me? I gave up beingh CEO of Highstyle for you. I was always more successful then you and your stupid photography gig. Eric: That's always been it, isn't it? You never wanted to give all that up. When we first got back to Salem, all you kept asking was when we were leaving and going back to your life in LA. It's always about you and the one time you have to give up something for me...you have to be all bitter about it. You tried to hide it but I saw it, Nicole. Nicole: I don't care if you did and don't get all sanctimonious with me. Eric: It's all about you. Same old Nicole. Haven't changed one bit. You want what you want and will do whatever it takes. You always have to be better...always have to be on top. Better job, more money...you even have to have the baby you want even if it may not be the one you are meant to have. You know what? Victor and you hated each other since after your marriage ended. How did you get him to help you? What did you do? Nicole: Nothing. I asked for his help an we decided to call a truce. Eric: There you go again. Same old Nicole. Your lying. Victor has gone all godfather on everyone so I highly doubt he would just do a favor without getting something in... Nicole: Just shutup!!! Nicole blows by Eric to the other side of the room, blowing some papers off the table. Eric sees that they are the adoption papers and something catches his eye. He begins to read them over. Nicole sees him doing this and says that now is not the time to go over those. Eric: Aren't I suppose to sign these? Afterall, I am going to be the baby's fath...wait...why are you listed as the only parent and guardian. What the hell is going on, Nicole? Nicole remains silent, contemplating what to say. -At the McCluer home, Frankie and Greta are just about done when Jack and Billie show up. They fill Frankie and Greta in on what happened. Greta asks if James was suspicious. Billie hopes not but Jack is confident that he wasn't. Unfortunately, Jack says, it looks like it's back to the drawing board now as far as what they do next. Billie admits that at least they know now James is doing what he is doing for his family and never would've killed him, just as they suspected. Frankie wonders what they can do now. Jack admits he isn't sure. All four are unaware that James is right outside, watching them. He witnesses Jack and Billie pull their disguises off. James: How dare those two step foot in my house. They are the reason why my family is dead. They encouraged my kids...got my family further involved in all this. I knew they looked familiar at the bar. Damnit...I have to do something. Those two need to be stopped. I don't need the boss for this. This is all on me. I am going to make those two pay for what they have done to my family. All the pain they caused me...for that, Deveraux and Reed will pay. -Kayla arrives back at her suite and wonders where Steve is. Meanwhile, Steve arrives at the pier and appears to be looking for something or someone through the fog. He then hears someone walking behind him and turns around to see who it is. Steve: What the hell? The camara shifts from Steve and pans around to reveal...THE MCF!!! MCF (via voice changer): Hello, Steven. Long time, no see. I haven't seen you since the motel in Chicago a few days ago.. Steve: You? What are you... MCF: Nevermind that. I wrote that note to you and called you hear because I have an offer for you. One I am sure you won't refuse. Steve looks at the MCF, confused and wondering what the MCF is about to spring on him as the screen fades out. On the Next Salem Lives... Belle to Kate (with Philip): You either side with me against Philip or never see your granddaughter again. Eric to Nicole: You think that little of me? Why did we even get married in the first place? James (watching Jack and Billie): Your time is almost up. MCF to Steve: I can give you what you most desire.

In their apartment, both Sami and Lucas discuss Will over lunch. Sami tells Lucas that Will doesn’t fight or argue with them now, even when they are punishing him, and that’s not like him at all. Lucas tells her that they should just go ahead and give him his space. Maybe they are smothering him. When he is ready, he’ll let them know. Sami agrees. She says they tried everything else and it’s not working so they might as well give him time. When Will does come out of his room, Lucas stands and asks him if he still doesn’t mind changing his last name to Horton. Will doesn’t wait, telling him he really doesn’t care one way or the other. Kate is an evil bitch anyway and it makes him sick to his stomach every time he even says her last name so why not change it? All she knows is how to hurt people and be selfish. If that is her deal, whatever, Will says. He then sits and starts eating his lunch as Sami and Lucas look at each other. After a few moments of silence, Lucas grabs his jacket and says he’s on his way over to City Hall to get the name change underway. He kisses Sami and wishes Will a good day, to which Will just shakes his hand slightly and continues eating his lunch. They look at each other again as Lucas takes off and Sami turns to watch Will finish his lunch in silence. He then stops and wipes his mouth, wanting to ask his mother a question. Sami sits down next to him and takes his hand. He just wanted to know what made her move on from what happened to her. She pauses and says that after the trial and what she perceived as betrayal from Carrie, she was so filled with hate and rage that anger is what made her move on. She never really dealt with the trauma of what happened but blamed others for it, which was so wrong. She tells him that if she would have dealt with it, she wouldn’t have wasted all those years hating herself and her family and hiding her pain. Will then says he hopes he doesn’t handle it like that. Then he catches what he just said and looks at Sami, who is staring at him. She then places her hand on his wrist and asks him if there is something he needs to tell her. Will looks away, trying to think of someway to cover up what he doesn’t want her to know. He says there is nothing he has to say and that he just remembered he has something to finish before he forgets. A worried Sami watches as he goes back to his room. -Meanwhile, on the Salem Pier, Lucas bumps into Kate, who is sitting at the dock making business calls. She ends one of her calls when she sees him and stops him, apologizing for the fight. Lucas says she should. He also says that she won’t get the same from him. The respect a child should have for their mother left a long time ago when she did her umpteenth dirty rotten trick to expose Sami and hurt him and Will. Kate says that she only wants to see what type of woman Sami is. All Lucas sees is that Kate will hurt anyone, even her family, to prove how right she is. That is sick, he tells her. Kate says that she loves her children and will do anything for them. Lucas says all she cares about is being perfect. And with her past, she should really give that a rest. Kate is silent. Lucas walks over to her and tells her that he will always respect her for giving birth to him and raising him but, that if she can’t grow up and stop acting like a two-year-old where Sami is concerned, then she doesn’t need to come around them anymore. He reaffirms that he and Will are changing their last names, which Kate accepts if that is what they want. Kate then says that if she had a dollar for every time he said he was going to push her out of his life to which Lucas responds that he can show her better than he can tell her and walks off, as Kate looks on. Kate then sits back down, taking out her handkerchief and wiping tears away from eyes, as she looks out into the river in front of her, thinking of her mistakes. -At Steve's therapy session, he walks in with Kayla by his side. Barbara is there and greets them both, to which Steve says that he hopes this isn’t another episode of Check The Psycho. He lays down on the couch as Kayla asks the doctor how things will be set up Barbara tells her that she knows they can’t discuss that but tells her to have faith. Kayla shakes her head in agreement and walks over to Steve, kissing him on the cheek before she leaves. As she walks out, they get down to business as Barbara puts Steve under hypnosis. Once he is under, Steve once again remembers his torture at the hands of mysterious strangers, who he can’t make out. The strangers are surrounding him, getting ready to inject him with syringes.... He starts to get violent the deeper he goes into he memories, which causes Barbara to quickly bring him back out. Once he has come out of hypnosis, he asks if he hurt her, to which she replies no. She is sensing that he is trying to go deeper but that he keeps stopping himself because subconsciously, he is scared of what he may find out. She tells him not to worry and that they are now starting to make some real progress. Steve is glad and sits up on the couch, thanking her for all her help. But, he says, he doesn’t know what is going to happen when he finally does remember everything.......and that is what scares him the most. -At the bar, Jack tells Billie that she must go and talk to James. She is reluctant at first but, after Jack tells her how important this is, she agrees, and starts walking very sexy down to where he is sitting. She tells him her name is Dena. He thinks she looks familiar but he doesn't catch on to her true identity. She can see that he is clearly drunk but that he is also despondent at the death of his family. Billie’s heart goes out to him but she also realizes that he may hold the key to what has been happening in Salem for all these months....and what may have happened to his family as well. James sees her and says if she wants a one night stand, he has neither the stamina nor the patience. She flirts with him, saying that she can make it worth his wile. He says that only one lady did that and now she’s dead.....thanks to him. So are his beautiful children. They never had a chance to live, he says, and now they’ll never graduate from college, have families, or grow old with the people they fell in love with. And it’s all his fault, he says, as he sips on his whisky, fighting back tears. James then gets up and walks to the bathroom, without even saying a word to Billie. She walks back over to Jack, who tells her that they must be convincing in a setting like that. That’s why the bartender is asking so many questions. After they notice people staring at them, Jack insists that they dance to prove that they belong. Billie silently agrees and they go to the dance floor and start slowly dancing to the music. Both of them then start looking lovingly into each other’s eyes. They can’t deny the sexual tension between each of them and can’t seem to take their gaze off of the other. Everyone seems to have vanished as Jack and Billie are locked in the moment. Just as they both move in to kiss the other, Jack realizes that his jacket is caught on Billie’s blouse and now they are trying to pry themselves apart from each other as everyone wonders what two nutcases just walked into their bar. -Nicole is at her and Eric's suite. While sitting at her desk, she gets a phone call from Nico, telling her that everything has been arranged. She starts at Titan tomorrow and CPS will be over to work out the adoption with anytime now as well. Nico tells her that Victor has CPS agents on his payroll. After she thanks Nico and hangs up, she excuses herself and goes out into the hallway, where she meets with the CPS agent. When the agent asks her where her husband is, Nicole tells her that she is adopting the baby alone and, if anyone has a problem with that, take it up with Victor Kiriakis. She then signs the papers and walks back into the suite, telling the CPS agent to handle the rest, leaving the CPS agent confused and very worried. Back in the suite, Nicole pours some Brandi and makes a toast, to making HER dream come true and to finally having the life she always dreamed of as the screen then fades out on her flashing a devilish smile. On the Next Salem Lives... Eric to Nicole: What the hell did you do? Frankie to Greta: I'm not sure how to answer that questions. James to Jack (with Billie): Something strange is going on here. Belle to Philip: You will never have Claire. Never. Kate: Oh my... Steve (turns around on the pier): What the hell?

I am thinking Maggie or Belle. Marlena is too easy but her daughter could be continuing the "Marlooney" tradition. Plus, Mimi and Rex died and they are from Belle's crowd. Could be Maggie too but Maggie trying to hurt Alice...I don't know. Could be Steve too. He is Abby's uncle and the Fury seemed affected by Abby's pleas and teared up so someone close to her could be it. I can't wait to see how you do the reveal King. I am very excited.

-In the psych ward at University Hospital, Marlena sits in her straightjacket, staring blankly at the four walls that surround her. Marlena: Lovely. Just lovely. They may have put me away but little do they know that they can't stop the horror that has been set in motion. They have no idea...no idea what's upon them now. Marlena then struggles with her straightjacket. Marlena: Damnit. I will get out of here. I will get my revenge and make them all pay!! The scene then shifts to the MCF's hideaway in the office of an abandoned warehouse. The MCF admires the picture shrine that he or she put together. The camera pans over all the pictures again as we see pictures of Roman, Sami, Lucas, Will, Carrie, Austin, Eric, Nicole, Steve, Kayla, Bo, Victor, Caroline, Maggie, Marlena, Shane, Kimberly, Hope, Belle, Philip, Abe, Lexie, Stefano, Tony, Anna, Jack, Billie, Max, Abby, Cassie, Chelsea, Cal, Doug, and Julie. We then see in the center of all the pictures the word... REVENGE. The MCF laughs. MCF: Everything is in motion now. It's so funny how little I have to do to get everyone where I want them. All the secrets and lies some of you are keeping...fools. All of you. You have practically given me the opportunity for revenge on a silver platter. The MCF then looks at the picture of Marlena. MCF: Sorry, doc. You were too much of a loose cannon. Your condition was far to volitile. I had other plans for you but I couldn't risk you ruining my plans so you had to go. I should've known though. You and your loved ones have been thorns in my side before. No matter...I still have James and Alan to assist me...but I could use some more help. Hmm...(looks at the pictures) I was going to go to some of you yet but it looks like I will have to. It's time I come face to face with some of you Salemites...starting with.... The MCF takes a picture off the wall and admires it. MCF (looking at the picture): You...yes. You will be the one whose services I seek out first. I know what you are capable of...I know firsthand. Now I just need to get you alone...and I know exactly how to bait you. The MCF then laughs as he or she sits down at the desk, takes out a piece of paper, and begins to write. MCF (looking at what he or she is writing): A piece of cake...
