I've always seen Carly as someone who'd have many, many paramours in life -- like ATWT's Lisa or AMC's Erica -- and maybe a child -- like a daughter who'd make life hell for Carly the way she made life hell for Bobbie -- but never, ever as one-half of ANY supercouples. Like I've said before, she's just too complicated to work that way.

Exactly. But there was also a racial component that I, for one, found hard to ignore. Janet was vilified, because, "how DARE a BLACK woman show her nipple on live TV like that!?". If that had happened to Madonna, white, conservative America would have just laughed and shrugged and said, "Well, that's our Madge!".

In a way, her post-"Velvet Rope"/post-Super Bowl appearance musical output has regressed to the kind of music she was releasing before she hooked up with JIMMY JAM! and Terry Lewis: lightweight, highly disposable tracks that you forget about ten minutes after you've stopped playing them. She just doesn't have the side gigs now as Penny Baby or Willis' gf to ensure that her fan base will keep buying the music. Look, we all know it ain't easy for a woman trying to make it in pop music. It's a long, hard push to the top; and IF you get there, you have only so long before you gotta make way for the new girls. When that happens, some leave gracefully; others...don't. To me, Damita Jo's just another one who's had to suffer that unfair trajectory. Even if the Super Bowl fiasco had never happened, and the media and such didn't turn her into the villain in that tragedy, I feel like her career was bound to turn downward -- not because she didn't have the talent (because, she does!), but because, that's just the way the industry works. I just feel like what happened at the Super Bowl only hastened the inevitable.

I don't think they de-SORAS'ed Mike so much as they have kept him in "chronological suspension" since Wesley Eure. OTOH, Laura HAD aged between Rosemary Forsyth and Jaime Lyn Bauer, but she did so very, very slowly, lol.

If anything, I'd want Lorraine Broderick to handle Abby's (inevitable) return. She proved at the end of AMC's network run that she could do zombie resurrections like no other. Exactly, lol. Frankly, I wish Abby's death WOULD stick. Regardless of her status as a "legacy heroine" -- which is a term I hate, by the way! -- she's yet one more character who had potential but who was ruined by the kind of atrocious, logic-defying storytelling that has visited just about everyone on the show and that no character can truly come back from. In fact, DAYS could kill off everyone at this point, and I wouldn't care. This show is just absolute trash. Aww, sookie-sookie now! A bisexual? On a daytime soap opera? In the U.S.? Surely, you jest!

Two years? Please. As soon as Ken Corday returns from the golf pro shop, he'll be on the phone w/ Ron and Sony, wondering if they could fix it in the next batch of scripts.

I think I would have preferred THAT to THE COLBYS, lol. For one thing, a hotel setting (with maybe a mix of on-going and self-contained stories) would have had a much different vibe to it than yet another saga about an affluent, dysfunctional family. Fallon's hotel-based spinoff would have been allowed to cultivate an identity of its' own rather than be forced to live in the shadows of DYNASTY. For another, you still could have had guest appearances from the DYNASTY cast -- John Forsythe, Linda Evans, Jack Coleman, perhaps even Dame Joan herself! -- but in ways that would have made more sense than they did on THE COLBYS. (After all, the Carringtons and Colbys were all jet-setters, wheeling and dealing on a seemingly global scale. You could have easily had one or several pop-in occasionally and stay at a suite in Fallon's hotel while they were in town on business). Whenever anyone from the mother show cameoed on the spin-off, it just felt...redundant. However, if I had been Richard or Esther Shapiro, I would have transitioned Claudia Blaisdel to the spin-off as well. The Shapiros clearly loved writing for Pamela Bellwood, but Claudia just never fit in with the rest of the characters on DYNASTY, especially after Matthew and Lindsay were written out/killed off after the first season. I would have had Claudia work alongside Fallon, helping to get the new hotel up and running. And yes, I would have written an episode where Claudia runs into Matthew, who's not dead after all, but who doesn't remember anything from his past, including their marriage. Ah, the David Jacobs approach, lol. I think so, too. The Lechowicks might have had a commitment from CBS, and spinning off some characters -- specifically, the Hispanic/Latino characters, at a time when the network was making another one of its' diversity pushes -- onto a new series was probably seen as the best way to fulfill that commitment. In retrospect, I don't believe either side was fully engaged with HM. It just felt like a burn-off more than anything else. But, if it HAD been more successful, I see CBS doing something revolutionary (at that time) and making HM an annual summer show with appropriate, season-long arcs.

If I were doing a "Hotel" reboot, I'd probably go in that direction. Yep. I hated when CBS cancelled "Second Chances," too. It wasn't a perfect show, but it had its' moments.

I think I've figured out John's REAL identity: he's Sir Launcelot. If DAYS were (still) a show that had any depth at all, it would use that quality to say something very profound about men like John. Namely, they enjoy "rescuing" their women, but once they're no longer in danger, they grow restless. Unfortunately, DAYS hasn't been that kind of show for a very long while.

Well, I do remember a few stories they threw to Dave and Megan, played by real-life couple Heidi Bohay and Michael Spound. Dave and Megan -- a bellboy and a front-desk clerk, respectively -- were happily married, but that's never any fun to watch, so the writers would try to introduce some conflict into their union. Unfortunately, that wasn't any fun to watch either, lol.

Agree. Never mind it was Justin Timberlake who made the fateful (and fatal) blunder. He's a man, and he's white, so he gets a pass. But the WOC who had to face the humiliation of having her breast exposed on live TV without her permission? As Emily Dickinson would say, she's straightaway dangerous, and handled with a chain (and worse). Let's be honest: who, among the remaining Jackson siblings, is LaToya really that close with? Tell me, does Rebbie put in an appearance? I've had "Centipede" on my mind so much lately, lol.
