Several of my FB friends believed Joe Biden was a "bad candidate" for that very reason. (One in particular - who, by the way, is not at all sorry to see Biden go - also cited his administration's border policies, which my friend (and former classmate) called "cruel"). I, myself, reasoned that that was one area where Biden was perhaps too "old school" to understand the complexities of the situation. What might have been true about Israel and Palestine in the '60's, '70's, '80's and even '90's isn't necessarily what's still true today. Nevertheless, I didn't believe that was enough to keep the man from serving another term as our president. Plus, for those younger voters, it's just a change from having to choose between two, old, white guys, which, I will admit, was always going to be tough to get them to do, especially if they're old enough to remember Barack Obama. Now, it's Trump and Trump alone who is looked upon as the Old White Guy in the race; and that, coupled with J.D. Vance proving already to be a mistake as his running mate, means his campaign team's job just got a whole lot harder. That's why I think it's crucial for Harris' VP pick to be a relatively safe choice: white, male, Christian (although, not necessarily evangelical) and heterosexual.

That, too. Either way, many women and young girls who are in sex trafficking are not in it because they enjoy having sex; and our society's insistence on branding them as harlots and jezebels who deserve whatever retribution comes their way is just plain wrong. If I were on Team Trump, I would be thinking very carefully about our options regarding JD Vance. He's giving me Sarah Palin vibes, and we know how that went down, lol.

Yeah, I think I read something in reference to that last night. Apparently, SF law enforcement officials were upset with Kamala Harris for years, because she, as D.A., would turn loose sex workers they had caught in undercover stings? Ultimately, I believe most who go into that side of the sex industry do so due to pressure or out of necessity, and not necessarily because they genuinely want to make a living off their bodies, so to speak*. So, I can't say I understand law enforcement officials' frustration there, lol. (And just where do I get such a notion, you ask? Two words: Karen. Wolek.)

When I watched the footage, I said, "There's something a little too 'Taxi Driver' about this." (IYKYK) I don't understand why we must tear down women (and WOC, in particular) who use sex as a form of currency. Like, women shouldn't be allowed to exploit their assets in order to get ahead? If anything, the fact that, time and time again, women are reduced to using their so-called "feminine wiles" in order to advance themselves in business and other worlds that are dominated by white men should be an indictment against the system itself, not against the women who often have no other choice. This makes me feel very nostalgic for KNOTS LANDING again for some reason.

SLR can be a bit much to take in at times. Nevertheless, I'm glad she put that particular issue (of the number of African-American men whom Kamala Harris prosecuted and incarcerated in California) into some perspective. As an African-American male, I'm always frustrated whenever members from within my community choose to disparage other members simply for doing their jobs. Does Kamala Harris have an axe to grind against Black men? So far, I haven't seen any concrete evidence that says she does. Until I do, however, I have to presume that the fault lies not with her but with the law itself. Meanwhile, I wonder how all those "undecided" voters out there feel now that Joe Biden has dropped out of the race? Has his decision made any difference with them as far as choosing whom to vote for? Or (as I suspect) do they remain "undecided"? (Frankly, I think the majority of those voters are also the kind who have trouble deciding what to order at McDonald's). Well, here's one: Even worse: PepsiCo now has a major PR problem on its' hands thanks to his "Diet Mountain Dew" remarks, lol.

Amen and hallelujah to all this!! Dear God. Struggling hack comics who work the midwestern circuit don't bomb as badly as that assclown does. JDV exists for one reason only: to give all hillbillies an even worse name.

Frankly...? I think we did. Just as I think we would have had no issue with re-electing him in 2020, had COVID not happened. More like "Halston, Gucci, Fiorucci," lol! I'm not saying. But you can guess which one if you think about it, lol. Same here! And please, Black Agnes, let them be gay AND of color AND still pissed that Brian Frons had the audacity to cancel AMC and OLTL on the same day for a bunch of damn cooking shows!

That goes along with the argument I've been making on X (with one of the stars of TV's "Becker," of all people, lol) regarding why I don't believe we are ready for a gay VP. Theoretically, any potential running mate's faith (or sexual preference, or ethnicity, or gender affiliation, or...I could go on) shouldn't be an issue as to whether they could help Kamala Harris win the election or preside over the country. All that should matter are their record and overall competency for the job. However, there simply is no denying the fact that Donald Trump has emboldened a lot of folks to disparage and attack anyone who is not white, Christian, heterosexual or genetically male. Even if you believe that someone like Josh Shapiro or Pete Buttigieg would be an ideal VP pick for Harris - and believe me, I think either would be fantastic! - you still have to know that supporting them comes with enormous risks, as well as the possibility now of losing out in the end to our most base fears and prejudices. And if you don't think the fact that Josh Shapiro is Jewish, or that Pete Buttigieg is gay, wouldn't, at the very least, present more obstacles to Harris' campaign, then you simply don't see the America that I see or have seen since at least the Obama administration. The fact is, we gave Barack Obama the chance, because we still felt the need back then to keep up the pretense of being an open-minded and forward-thinking nation. Again, though, thanks to Trump, we no longer feel that need. Now, we are content with presenting ourselves as exactly who and what we are.

I agree. Or you could've given it to me! Just sayin'! But seriously. Don't feel that all the money and time you've donated over the years has been for nothing. I believe it has made a difference, even if it's a difference you can't see right off the bat. At the end of the day, the rich donors who control all the political parties in this country are like any Goliath. We just haven't found the right slingshot to slay them with yet.

But who is to say that this election is winnable for ANY Democrat, let alone one with a reputation and record as stellar as Joe Biden's? The fact is, due to the GOP's ability to control the media, this election was never going to be easy for the Democrats. But Biden, IMO, stood the best chance of beating Donald Trump in November, because his record - as president, and as VP - spoke for itself. More and more, it just seems to me that we are where we are because of rich donors from within the Democratic Party who had hoped to swap out Biden AND Harris for an all-white, all-male ticket. But, as I've been saying, that's a conversation for another day. She needed to, if she had any hope at all of salvaging her rep after her full court press on Joe Biden. I mean, it's one thing to say Grampa Joe's too old and feeble to be president anymore, but then to refrain from endorsing his black, female running mate? That might make her look racist, sexist AND ageist.

If we are to believe the polls - and that's a big "if" from me! - then I would agree that a change needed to be made. Polls or no polls, however, I just don't like the way Democratic leaders have forced this transition. There were better ways to convince Joe Biden to step aside than yelling, "Go to bed, old man!" But, what else should we have expected from a country that never values its' senior citizens?

I don't know what else to say, @marceline, except I'm heartbroken that you feel this way. I wish I had just the words to encourage you (and anyone else who might feel the same as you) to get back in the fight, because this fight needs people like you, who are passionate and well-informed and who don't give up no matter how tough the going gets. But I understand how you feel. I, too, am disgusted with the Democratic Party's treatment of Joe Biden. As I told a friend on Facebook: Biden didn't jump, he was pushed. After all that he has done to correct the path that our country has taken, the leaders within his party owed him their loyalty. Instead, they've sat him down in a wheelchair and rolled him off to Shady Pines. The past several days and weeks have taught me two lessons: 1) as long as the Democratic Party keeps allowing the GOP and the MSM to control the narrative, every election will be an uphill battle; and 2) perhaps more importantly, for all that progressives get wrong, there's also one thing they get very right: the Democratic Party does not belong to its' voter base, but to a bunch of white, male billionaires who believe they know what's best for everyone. In that sense, the Democratic Party is no different from the GOP. Like I said, I wish I knew what to say to make you change your mind, @marceline. Hell, I'm not even sure I don't want to join you, lol. If the press hasn't begun tearing down Kamala Harris' reputation and character yet, they will in due time - and no, it will not be pretty either. As a matter of fact, I'd venture to say that when they DO draw their knives for her, it will expose the true, racist and misogynistic underbelly of this country like never before and make their treatment of Barack and Michelle Obama look like Tiddlywinks by comparison. But I also know that if a second Trump administration potentially could be even HALF as awful as his first was...? Sigh. I gotta stay in this fight and punch for Kamala, even though the Democratic Party deserves nothing less now than your utmost contempt and mine. It might be all for nothing in the end, but like the song says...
