  1. Whoa, the guy on the right is a babe.
  2. Not to harp on a negative theme, but I never see men like this at my BEACH, either.
  3. I never seen men like this in MY gym. Sigh.
  4. Reva, the slut of Springfield...in the fountain. Other views:
  5. Mental illness is rampant is America. Trump proves that.
  6. Like a crop loves locusts. Right.
  7. The beginning of The End for the show.
  8. That ass is solid muscle.
  9. Daily exercise is beneficial.
  10. And TGL was still recognizable as...TGL! (But this TV movie was pretty bad.)
  11. I loved AW during this era. I personally think that Agnes Nixon's very best writing was on The Guiding Light and Another World. The best aspect of the show during the Alice/Steven/Rachel storyline is that it was naturalistic. Heightened and romanticized, sure, but everything worked so well because you could believe what you were seeing. The writers did not use cheap, idiotic gimmicks like devil possession, clones, time travel, mad scientists freezing the world, or whatever. The drama arose from the interpersonal-relationship conflict among complex, driven, human characters.
  12. I remember when Steve was introduced, ushering in the Alice/Steven/Rachel triangle, possibly the best story in the history of daytime TV. It remained engrossing for a staggering seven years, through three different headwriters. George Reinholt, Jacqueline Courtney, and Robin Strasser had tangible chemistry on-screen, and this saga kept viewers on the edge of our seats throughout. Rachel was SUCH a bitch! I still have not forgiven her for sending Alice the baby bunting, LOL.
  13. Dear God in heaven! Marc Singer could tame me anytime!
  14. After Kathy Glass sued the show for her dyed-blonde hair falling out, I knew she would not be around for long. Fans of vintage soaps are lucky that so many episodes are available on youtube, but it is true that a lot of material still exists in the hands of private collectors, who hesitate about sharing it. I used to video-trade all the time, and used rare episodes in my own collection to barter for hard-to-find episodes in other collectors' libraries, but I kept getting ripped off, and the frustration made me stop trading altogether.
  15. Oh, Photobucket. I have heard of it, just never used it. Thanks.
  16. I'm sure I must already know, but what is "PB"?
  17. I do believe that writing intricate mysteries would not have been Lemay's forte, but the tempermental, prissy reaction to the very suggestion was childish. He could have just admitted that such stories were not his strong suit, and offered Marland the chance to create one, if the suits insisted. Less work for Lemay! It's true that he twisted established characters' personalities to better fit what he could write (Alice, Mary Matthews, Steven), but I could usually justify it in my mind, based on what the characters were experiencing in their lives. It was a shame to lose Diane Ballard (and even the smarmy-but-interesting Joe Bradley), but that murder mystery was quite well handled on TGL.
  18. And the fact of the matter is, murder mysteries are not necessarily low-brow or worthless. Henry Slesar gave us many years of brilliant entertainment, dishing out murder on TEON. And I would take a Mart Hulswit over a Maurice Bernard or Steve Burton any day.
  19. Right. The Republican Trump supporters of today would fight tooth and nail against any of thoise measures.
  20. I have often thought that we here at SON should open a special section devoted to links to vintage soaps, wherever they may be on the internet (youtube, vimeo, etc). For example, we could have a folder for ATWT, and put all the 1950s eps in one thread, all the 1960s eps in another, etc. If we could organize them by air-dates too, that would make viewing past material a lot easier. Of course, this would take a long time and a lot of work top compile.
  21. Hey, we senior types need hot lovin', too! I take comfort in the fact that if Mills can get a babe like this, so can I! And thank the good Lord that I have done pretty well with some of my exes.
  22. Yes, we are fortunate to have many excellent serialized dramas on primetime TV, but nothing with the soapy goodness of KL in its glory years! I miss Val, Karen, etc.
  23. Yes, he has retired and deleted some of his "adult" social-media accounts. His twitter page is still available, but he posted a few months ago that he would no longer be updating it because of his retirement. He's been travelling the world and enjoying himself.
  24. Yes, that was his stage name when he was doing adult film work. He has since retired and left the country.
  25. The incompetence at ALL the networks throughout the 1990s made it astonishing that any soaps survived the decade. I doubt Passions would have been a success either way, but the supernatural elements ultimately hurt its chances. It was just never well written, and the available audience had so many better choices.
