  1. This is the first episode of 1997: #2452 which aired Janaury 2, 1997. Pardon me for interupting with a VERY important question 😉 Episode #1778 feautures a HUGE kitchen set for Sally's condo which I think was never seen before and afterwards. I think meals were usually eaten in Sally's living room. Or can anybody remember any other occurence of Sally's kitchen?
  2. I'm not up to date but saw the ending on Instagram. What a fabulous piece of twisted soap opera goodness. Awesome - nice that they included Pam and Charlie
  3. Just my two cents: England is still very much a class system. It's not so much your skin color but your status and upbringing which might get you ahead or confront you with hardships to break up barriers. In case of Meghan Markle: did I get it right that she wanted to be hugged by Kate who did not respond as the prime source of her feeling racism within the royal family? um okay, I get that as the new girl entering in an intimidating family she wanted to fit right in and searched for an alliance with the other daughter-in-law. But could be it as simple as that you sometimes do not get along as human beings. And a wannabe star actress trying to headline her own version of the Princess Diary is not necessarily the most unbiased source. For me it still looks more like very standard personal issues. Which should have stayed personal, IMO. It's Harry and Meghan version of how they felt but there so many parts that sound a little "strange". For instance: they are accusing the royals of playing a game with the British press. Yet, for this Netflix project "the Sussexes" heavily rely on one interview to tell their version of the truth. An interview with the late Diana which was REVEALED to have been fake by the BBC!??? Okay...
  4. I wanted to share my two cents on the 1994 episodes graciously uploaded to the Vault. I have reached # 1772 which originally aired in April 1994 on CBS. It seems I was not yet a regular viewer beck then because most of the episodes feel fresh to me. I have read extensive recaps over the years, therefore it is fascinating no less to actually see some of these developments as they unfolded on the screen. As many of you mentioned, it’s not all holding up that well. In my last episode: Ridge was expressing his happiness over Stephanie getting closer to Eric. This felt super shady considering that Stephanie is NOT solo but in a relationship with Ridge’s father-in-law. Jack is also such a void by now and reduced to Taylor’s sounding board; as a matter of fact, I think it was never mentioned what Jack’s new job was after he left the accounting job at Spectra. And Taylor? Spring 1994 is absurd for this character. I always pictured her and James making love as a cringeworthy scene arising out of life and death moment. That’s what was told on screen, but the fake “snow make-up” which made Taylor and James look like the cast of some 70s vampire movie did not transport a life and death crisis onto the screen. And boy, the last couple of weeks Taylor has had the same conversation over and over: she wants to clear her conscience while Jack and James advise her against it (which is questionable for both characters) and Stephanie and Brooke immediately know that James and Taylor slept with each other. They not just realize that a secret is kept, they know exactly what this secret is!? But back to Taylor: the genius solution of a renowned psychologist invited as speaker to a world wide conference is to write her husband a LETTER in which she confesses. Boy – this sure made a lot of sense. NOT Macy and Anthony make a decent storyline. The scenes with little CJ who is banking on him to become his new daddy were sweet. As @Videnbas pointed out, Thorne’s absence in Paris in all of this is just preposterous, though. While watchable, 1994 truly feels like a Spelling primetime soap. We get twists and turns – but not all of them make sense.
  5. In my memory it was a rather tacky looking set (supposed to be a remodeled Indigo Jazz club, once owned by Neil???) in which Judith Chapman was prancing around as Gloria, sometimes funny but quite often not so much. I think it was during that time that Tad Shackleford was feautured quite promimently as her "loverman" Jeff.
  6. The first B&B episode is #1724 which is already in the Vault. The other is there, too. BoldRestless provided the airdates for the Y&R episodes it seems. EDIT: just watched the climax of one of the Y&R episodes: Cole walking out on his "father" Victor. Powerful stuff - Y&R used to be soooo good.
  7. We should not forget that the mid 90s were in Melrose Place craze. DAYS also excelled in the extreme stuff. I think this was the influence of the times for Brad Bell to got for HUGE shockers and some more OOC plots.
  8. The man on the right seems to be Ian Buchanan‘s partner/husband. There are quite a lot of pics of them together on Instagram. The woman far left - no idea, but in the overall picture: she probably JoanNa Johnson‘s partner/girlfriend
  9. Woohoo -thanks for sharing! BTW, I hope that someone of you guys is still tech-savvy enough to save this vid from YouTube and put in the Vault.
  10. In that case I get why you could relate to her. For me Dylan and Jessica were the standard teen pairing on soaps which equals to fast forward material... 😉 One of the few exception were the original Amber years and the Glo by Jabot kids on Y&R. I can't think of any other teen set I ever liked. And with Jessica I have ZERO hopes that I will find her more interesting than in the first run. It's amazing that Dylan Neal made a serious career after this role: he was super handsome and had charisma but he could not elevate the material back then and for me Dylan and Jessica were just okay as a couple. And the many scenes with Stephanie and Eric were so cringe-worthy - and it got even more ridiculous when John Forrester was never shown and Maggie (who showed up 11 months later) was well Maggie.
  11. What time period of B&B was aired in 1999? Did they continue with 1988 or did they choose more current stuff?
  12. Thanks for sharing. Judging by the clips this is from Fall 1994 How very cool. I had read remarks that B&B aired in Brazil but never knew about the time frame. They aired it late at night at 10.30 pm? Interesting I guess the Telenovela industry is just too big and there is no other major market which would pay for the portuguese dubbing. However, I can't think of a mjor spanish market for B&B either despite that it is simulcast in Spanish in the US since 2001. It just never clicked with Latin audiences I guess. As we all know, it's very popular in many French and English speaking foreign markets, though
  13. I'm curious as to how I feel about it this time around. Back then, I could get Eric's reasoning while I detested Stephanie who pushed him to the vasectomy. The marriage to Sheila was already in grave danger who - of course - deserved all my sympathy.
  14. True care to share your general feelings about spring/summer 1994?
  15. Ivana is really supposed to be that young? I always pictured her as 25 years+ back then
  16. Really!? Now this is splendid. The can’t beat picture quality of Videoland without the subtitles. It’s like we have never seen this show before… compare it your old VHS tapes of B&B in the 90s!? It’s like night and day. Thank you to whoever you are!!!!
  17. I think some of you remarked on it before, but it was just soooo jarring: after enjoying the treat that was the year 1993 on B&B, January 1994 was just rough. There were so many filler episodes (around Ridge&Taylor and Brooke & whatever) and some very random storyline developments. Macy/Anthony/Karen/Connor was like Melrose Place without the cursing, high stakes and short skirts of Heather Locklear. Some of the stuff was okayish and funny like Anthony’s master plan with the see-through-swim suits but Karen and the AIDS test, plus the general direction of all 4 characters did not ring with me at all. It felt all super random – and boring. To my pleasant surprise, February 1994 brought yet another rather sudden shift with some characters but I’m okay with all developments. Thorne now discovers that he wants Macy back (finally!), Macy tells Sally that she does not want Anthony (spoiler – it’s all fake news, she is smitten with him after all!) which prompts La Spectra to see her lead designer in an all new light. Anthony truly is charming around Sally who immediately falls for him HARD due to her own loneliness, track-record and him getting along with CJ is sold by Darlene Conley. There were some amazing scenes with Schae Harrison who was always so underrated when Darla tried to prevent the inevitable mother-daughter-bickering over Anthony. Seeing the Spectras all front and center in a sweeps month will not happen that much afterwards in B&B history, so it is pretty noteworthy as well. Brooke & James dating is yet another Melrose Place-type story twist which came out of nowhere. When I started watching the show many moons ago, these two were engaged, so that’s maybe why I still say that they have great chemistry. Even if the setting with Brooke&James is so very wrong (the clock is already ticking on their epxiry date as a couple because of Brooke's destiny with Wiiiiiiiiidge) and James the adult virgin will eventually bed nearly ALL women in LA during the next 4 years of his tenure. LOL At around episode # 1740 I’m back to having fun with the B&B nostalgia train and try to catch at least one episode a day. What are you watching right now?
  18. Wow - thanks a lot. I've always wondered about it (assuming that Freiwald took a "stage name" to protect his writing career by going for a saop...) - and here is the background admitted by himself.
  19. Didn't the pilot/episode #1 have location scenes with Brad Elliott in the truck? Do you happen to know more of this? Wasn't Linda Schreiber the daughter of Eric Freiwald? But who was Robert Schaefer and why did they go for this fake credit?
  20. Hmmm, we shall see that means in the ratings report. I'm torn though whether people actually tune in for a specific event on a daytime show. If its plus 500.000 viewers sure, but the ups and downs of the ratings are soo random, these days at least.
  21. I’ll give Griffith credit for bringing back Danny and Daniel. It’s definitely smarter than Kevin, Chloe und Chelsea stinking up the joint. And I HATED Danny back in the day…
  22. The good old days when story’s dragged on forever but had such a fabulous climax. „Steffy“ dying by a shark and then Taylor being held captive by Morgan. It lasted 3-4 months but it just flew by
  23. Surprisingly, a more recent came to my mind upon reading the topics title: Michael/Lauren/Carmine on Y&R in 2013 (?) was probably Josh Griffiths only ever really well thought out storyline. The ending sucked but the beginning and middle were just REAL. Apart from that B&B as the mothership of love triangles probably owns this thread. One of the good affairs were already mentioned: Brooke & Deacon
  24. Exactly. I think B&B going to YouTube probably was a labor of love by the likes of producer turned die-Hard B&B fans like Casey Kaspryz. I assume the buzz/ad revenue generated was much more than they anticipated, so that they now go for the full library going public
  25. It’s a start. Considering that it’s been 15 years (!!!) that TEB crossed over to B&B while much of the cast from both shows was involved in irrelevant crossovers in the last two decades, it is a splendid move I never saw coming. Seems like (at least my Impression due to her instagram posts) TEB is no longer living in LA fulltime and therefore needs to be courted to take any regular acting gigs - but maybe we are lucky to get more of Lauren on B&B
