BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
Today's episode was pretty lousy -- definitely the worst in a while. -- Ashley is awful beyond words. I hope Derek dumps her basic ass. Scratches on the fridge? First of all, can someone in production put te refrigerator hinges on the right side??? The door doesn't even open into the kitchen area. Second, if you're going to make a BIG FCKING DEAL out of a scratch, then show the damn scratch. They didn't, and it was stupid. Also, the lack of product placement WHEN DEREK WAS CLEANING made no sense. Is he too dumb to use P&G products? -- Ashley's treatment of Derek is despicable. If a guy treated a woman this way, this board would be screaming abuse. She acted like a spoiled brat, and I have NEVER gotten the idea that she loves Derek. -- And then Ashley -- the new super nurse -- calls off work because she had a meltdown over a scratch and a leftover??? And goes to a bar??? Jesus. What terrible writing. -- For me, Ben Gavin (Derek) was MUCH better today than Jen Jacob (Ashley). -- Also bad...Cady McClain. I don't know what she's doing, but she needs to stop it. She's terrible in this role, and BTG should get rid of that character. She doesn't work. -- Vanessa has been turned into a complete slut. Messing with Diego? OK. But now they're writing her like she can't keep her legs closed. And then she talks with Doug, acts like they've figured things out, then walks away without asking Doug WHAT he's hididng from her. -- Dani and Andre look good in bed, but let's move on, OK? Just seeing those two have hot sex isn't enough. I don't think Dani's reason for not going public with him make any sense, either. More bad writing. -- Today we got a discussion of Tomas' tattoos. You mean Kat has never seen the guy's arms before? Huh? More bad writing. -- Also, I still can't believe Alex Alegria (Tomas) has been acting for well over a decade. Jesus. -- Why would Ted give Eva a photo of herself for her birthday? WTF was that? -- Dana and Jacob were decent. Those were the only scenes that made sense. Last week was great, but we're off to a really slow start this week.

Booty pop is the only reason to watch the show these days.

I agree with you on all of it. After what we got from RC for YEARS, seeing real soap is beyond refreshing. I like "romantic leads" who cannot be ignored. Kate is definitely revived as a character, and a lot of the credit goes to Philip. JPL has been really good since his return, and I hope they keep him around.

Someone apparently told Brad Bell that "playing all the beats" meant repeating the same dialogue every day.

DAYS: May 2025 Discussion Thread
-- I continue to enjoy DAYS post-Carlivati. These women have done a great job in refocusing the show. -- It sounds nuts not to agree with "rapists and murderers shouldn't be romantic leads." But then you get characters like Xander and EJ, and you have to put an asterisk after that quote. I enjoy both characters far too much to want them off the show or thrown in jail. They're romantic leads, but you can't tell me they haven't faced consequences. -- I think the Xander beatdown of Phillip was well-directed -- and in character. Some people here believe Xander went too far. Well, that's who Xander is, and we've seen that many times over these past years. He thought he had family, and then realized it was all a lie, so he resorted back to his animal roots. -- The Stephanie Racy Book storyline is soooooo bad. I had to laugh that she couldn't find her manuscript in that 2x4 apartment.

GH: May 2025 Discussion Thread
-- I'm not unhappy that Nina and Carly had a bad fight including slapping and tackling and falling down. But geez, all that insane SCREAMING was over the top. It was three minutes of shrieking, and I thought it was all too much. -- And ANOTHER day of Dante ripping Gio and Gio again discussing his sins and failures. Make it end already. -- In the previews, Gio is walking the Nurses Ball red carpet with Joss. Uh...why??? I don't know why Joss is there at all. Doesn't she have some secret agent stuff to do? -- Chase is at the end of the previews, yelling into the phone "You want me to do WHAT???" My guess is that's another fakeout that there's something important going on, and that Chase got a call to perform at the Nurses Ball. This show....

I guess I should appreciate Clifton's devotion to his craft, but this comes off as so pretentious. Nothing about Liam's story (or B&B, for that matter) is high art.

Just compared the open on Friday's episode with the first week episodes. I think the difference is that the bass line is much more apparent -- stronger and harder.

I have nothing to add. Everything you said is on point, and I don't know whether to laugh hysterically at it or throw things at the television. I do know it's terrible soap opera.

Jon Lindstrom proved with Ryan Chamberlain on GH that he can play menacing and evil. He's not doing it here, and I think it's a combination of writing and performance. To be fair, Longoria has modeled and has represented major companies like L'Oreal, but she was never a runway model. I don't have any problem with seeing Dani as a runway model. I think it's more than possible, and I don't understand anyone criticizing her look. I actually have a bigger problem with the whole "Anita is an EGOT" thing. I think it goes way too far. Give her a Grammy. Say she was nominated for a Tony, or even won. But an EGOT winner? No. The fact that you're using DAYS to defend a BTG set is telling, since we all know DAYS is poverty level soapdom. I expect so much more and better from Gates. I can't help it, but I'm LOL at the people defending that backroom bingo hall casino and making excuses for it. It's hilariously bad.

BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
That set looks like the backroom at a fire hall. No way would a casino design a special rollers room to look like that. I don't get it. If they really want this casino/mob boss story to work, they have to try harder. That set is atrocious and a joke, and they can't have it patronized by someone like Eva. They also needed to create a Joey who is feared. Who has he ruined? Bankrupted? Killed? Is his only hope for money laundering a doctor who gambles too much? Where's the news that Lindstrom is wrapping up his run? I wouldn't call that set not oft-used, either. We've seen a lot of it, which is why we're complaining about it.

BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
Vanessa was flirty with Smitty, and it was weird. Smitty didn't think anything about it was cute or fun. The sex talk between Cody and Vanessa at Orphey Gene's? Also weird af. We needed either a longer scene or another scene to make any of that work. Vanessa is coming off like a nymphomaniac. Forced for plot convenience, just as it was when we saw Eva (HUH???) in that casino backroom. Sorry, none of this casino stuff works. I thought the same thing -- I enjoyed all the different character groupings, but the dialogue was not natural and didn't flow. Yep, kinda weird. I don't get it. Of course, I also don't get the discussion of not having Doug as the surgeon. Is he the only doctor anyone trusts? Then we have June's entire heart procedure talked about, performed, and over within 20 minutes of screen time. -- Cady McClain gives us a different variation of that accent every time she appears. The dialogue between Pamela and Dani is too cute by half. -- BTG, please stop mentioning Martin's run for the presidency. -- I hope we're not going to see Ted soften towards Dana and be taken in by her line of bull. She just blew up his life, and I don't want to see him sympathize with her in any way.

B&B: May 2025 Discussion Thread
-- That sock on Liam's head is ridiculous. Someone should have thought about how that would look day after day after day. -- We got an entire week of LIAM IS DYING, and it's been as bad as it sounds. -- This martyr act from Liam is too much. All of a sudden the guy has the answers to all relationship problems. -- Speaking of relationships, no one moves from one to the next like Carter...madly in love one minute, moving on the next. Not that I care. I don't care if Hope catches him with Daphne, and I don't care who he ends up with the week after that. I just don't care. -- Today we got Steffy repeating "Liam doesn't deserve this." We've heard the "doesn't deserve this" line all week. I mean, who in the hell "deserves" a brain tumor? This is beyond suckage writing.

I am really struggling with all this Dante Doesn't Like Gio stuff. Would Gio be engaged in this many conversations about how angry Dante is with him? It's overboard and forced beyond belief. I get it. The writers want to create friction between Gio and Dante before the paternity reveal. I just think it should be much more natural and organic. GH has had MANY MONTHS to create this drama, and instead woke up and said "We gotta go at this hard, because we're out of time."

BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
Boy, do I agree with this. These writers HAVE to know what they're doing when they add those "We're the Duprees" lines....at least I pray to God they do. If they don't, they're clueless. This family is -- like most families -- deeply flawed and going through it. There's something tone deaf about the "We're the Duprees" pronouncements all over the place.

Keith D Robinson is 49. Maurice Johnson is 46.

BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
-- "The role of Ted Richardson is now being played by...." I love that throwback to soaps from yesteryear. I know we don't want BTG to be our grandmother's soap, but sometimes Grandma's soaps had it right. -- I was FULLY prepared to dislike Keith D. Robinson as Ted, and I even went through things in my mind that I could say because I was fine with Maurice Johnson and felt bad for him. However, Robinson was awfully good, especially for Day 1. He's a different Ted, but he's a good actor -- natural and real. People saying Gates "should have gone older" are head-scratchers since Robinson is older than Johnson. -- I expected Bill to be tougher than he was with Dana, THE worst mother of the year on soaps. -- Kat went toe-to-toe in those scenes with Dana. We're all in love with Ambyr/Eva, but Colby/Kat is also killing it. -- Derek and Ashley? I'm turning on Ashley, who can't even pretend to like Derek, let alone love him. Her annoyance with him is overboard, and I'm also annoyed with the show portraying Derek as a Neanderthal -- to the point of putting "Neanderthal" in his dialogue. Every single thing he does annoys Ashley, which makes me wonder what she ever saw in him. I want him away from her. -- Seeing Derek and Ashley in that bed was hilarious. It looks like a single, not something for two grown adults. -- Ashley and Andre are still a no for me -- a big no. I see no reason why he'd be infatuated with her. None. At least Andre got a smile from her, which she didn't have for Derek, even when he wanted them to get a bigger place. Derek, please dodge the bullet.

I'm always down for more Gio, and he did look good today. But let's not pass on the chance to appreciate Chase in those jeans. I mean, come on. That was some nice booty poppin' right there. Maddening. I'd dislike hearing any character being this ridiculous and overbearing, but I really hate it when it's a character I love, as I do Dante.

Add me to the list of people who like Tanisha Harper as Jordan I never understood any of the criticism of her, to be honest. She's gorgeous and she's solid in her role. Sounds like a soap staple to me.

Y&R: May 2025 Discussion Thread
-- We're getting really bad soap. I honestly couldn't care less about any of it, and I wish the ratings would freefall so we'd get a change in writers. -- Does anyone believe Victor would spend his evenings walking around the GCAC and looking for people to talk to? Without Nikki on his arm? -- I'm again left to looking at sets (the few we get each day). Am I right that they moved the bar in at the GCAC to place it more diagonally to the dining room? -- The last time we saw Crimson Lights the room looked smaller to me, so I Googled images of CL, and yeah, it's smaller. Along the back wall where the booths are, there once was wall area behind the booth on the right. That wall area is now gone. -- When Phyllis hijacked Billy's phone to get Dumas' number, I gagged when she went to the park in the middle of the night to break into it. Who does that? -- I feel sorry for these actors. This is all such garbage that I have no words.

-- Great scenes with Andre and Nicole. -- I hope Dani loses Andre because she wants to keep him hidden. He deserves better, and I have no idea why she's acting that way. -- The hair stuff with Eva at the end was fun, but does she carry hair pieces and extensions with her, too? -- Samantha looks 30 lately. I can't unsee it now that I know. -- I am glad we already see Eva and Samantha getting along. I didn't want weeks of Samantha shading her. -- Clifton Davis was pretending he can't sing, and that didn't work. It looked like we were watching someone pretending he can't hit a note. -- They need to step up this Anita storyline. Watching her and Vernon praise each other every day is getting tiresome. -- Hayley clearing Bill's desk to have sex was cringe. He enjoyed it, but it won't be long before he realizes he married a little girl instead of a woman.

-- I'm on record as enjoying the new writers at DAYS, but add me to the list of those who have big problems with the hospital purchase being tied to the miracle drug. I'll accept a lot under the "It's A Soap" banner, but I hate it when it goes ludicrous. -- Recast Rachel isn't bad, but she isn't Rachel. She doesn't make me hate her and think she's obnoxious when she walks into a room, so she doesn't work.

-- Kai spends more time in the hospital than anyone I know. I've never seen a patient held back from being discharged like this guy. -- All this concern over Lulu's adoption story is wild. Just what in the hell in that story will upset people? Am I missing something?

I hated this story from the first time I heard the word "president," and I've complained about it ever since. They went too big with the office -- should have been governor or the Senate. Nothing about Martin says "presidential." Uh....OK.

True, and I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what Eva was doing in that random casino room. That made no sense to me.
