OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.

Yeah, financially, Luna is in better shape than Deacon and Sheila. -- Scott Clifton must have decided to chew the scenery in every scene of this "Liam is Dying" storyline. Yikes.

-- My Laugh of the Day goes to Carly calling the Metro Court a "five-star hotel." -- It's crazy, but what Drew did to Wiley makes Drew come off worse than if he actually murdered someone. -- Cynthia Wattros really needs to lay off the Botox. Because her face doesn't move, she's doing WAY too much with her eyes. -- Josh Kelly is looking so good with the new haircut. -- Rory Gibson continues to impress as nuMichael. Just another reminder that Josh Griffith doesn't know how to write for talent. -- This Lucky goodbye is sad -- in all the wrong ways. It could not be more pathetic. There's no doubt in my mind that Valentini told the writers they had 3 days to write him out and to make it ugly. No one will miss JJ.

I appreciate your POV and ideas here. I don't, however, trust Josh Griffith to make this anything like a good story. My guess is that much of it will be off-camera and that we'll have to be happy with Mariah retelling the nightmare in bits and pieces. Meanwhile, Tessa will still be strumming her damn guitar with Daniel. Ugh. I know I'm negative about this show. I am hate watching with every fiber of my being, and there's nothing about it that's working for me. I never recall Y&R being worse.

I get your point, but I also know that if the roles were reversed -- if a man were screwing around on a woman this way -- everyone would be all "Off with his head!" When I say Vanessa needs therapy, I'm actually being kind, because I could begin and end with the fact that she's a cheating slut.

I know it's "just Reddit," but I've seen posts by people who sound very inside that Ed Scott did not leave of his own accord. Those same people say that JFP has been back at Y&R for MONTHS and that she's functioning as line producer -- meaning she has a lot of say over budget, scheduling, etc. I don't know why Ed Scott would return to Y&R for under 6 months, so that leads me to believe something happened behind the scenes. Phelps being there would also explain the sets problem getting WORSE over the past few months.

GROSS. Michael Swan was hot back in his ATWT days. Now he's 76 and WAY past his hot years.

I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.

I've already stated that I don't like Doug being written as this meek and submissive. It was so lame watching him leave her like that. Vanessa can divorce him, but she then needs to get her thot ass into therapy. She's not only having sex with every guy she runs into, but is now having sex with a skeevy perv on a poker table. I'm going to give the BTG some credit here. For months, many on this board were delighting in the Vanessa/Joey flirting and what they saw as chemistry. I think we're now seeing what the writers always intended -- that Joey is a disgusting POS wannabe mobster.

I know we're all supposed to see that BTG is progressive when it comes to queer characters, but it's telling that they won't commit to showcasing gay or bi males who are single and looking. That relationship couldn't be any more traditional. Will we ever get a bedroom scene with Smitty and Martin? I have my doubts.

Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward. -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive. -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey. -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.

I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.

The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.

That's what I'd like to know. JFP is 74 and Ed Scott is 80, so I guess Y&R is going young. Seriously, why bring back someone who loved being in charge and making decisions when she won't be doing either of those?

If you're not going with a family legacy name, you gotta do better than that. -- When Frank is done with a character, he makes sure that character is painted in the worst possible way and the shade is thrown in the script. Natalia is being treated like a punchline to a bad joke....not that I mind. -- So Cody talked about Britt today. Gee, I wonder what's going on.

Kelly & Mark are outstanding together, and they deserve this success. No one else comes close.

I remember Phyllis' place when she was with Billy -- there was a lot of (fake) concrete on that set, and I remember her living in a place that had a lot of red and white.

The restaurant and coffee shop hopping is what bothers me, too. I absolutely hate it. Yes, the new sets are great. The Newman ranch, the Abbott mansion, Billy's house -- they're all classy and great. I appreciated The Crimson Lights update a few years ago, and the remodel of Sharon's tack house where Victoria lives is nicely done. However, because of limitations on what's permanently standing and what needs to be assembled when used, the sets problem is still a mess. We get Jack's office and that hallway into his office for a couple days, and that's it. That means any Jabot business talk is conducted at a bar, restaurant or coffee shop. It's nuts that Devon's office is no longer used. Lily? She sits down at either Society or the GCAC every damn day. Billy's starting this new, dynamic company -- no office. Phyllis? No home, no work space. She runs from restaurant to coffee shop. And no, throwing in that Chancellor Park set as a meeting place for EVERYONE who goes to the park isn't enough. When you have SO many characters discussing business (also a huge problem) it's a huge error to have only one business locale up at a time. Comparing Y&R to DAYS does not work. We all know DAYS has no budget. We know that Y&R has been #1 for DECADES and SHOULD have a budget. We deserve better. Is the GH budget that much bigger than Y&R's? Because they manage an enormous cast and a buttload of sets just fine. GH doesn't look like a show that's penny-pinching. And then when Y&R spends money on a new set, it becomes a storyline, which is a joke. We hear about it for weeks on end. When has this ever happened on a soap? When should this ever happen? Compounding all this sets mess? The writing on Y&R is ABYSMAL. It has never been worse. I have never been so bored with this show in my entire life. B&B is trash, but Y&R is worse -- it's boring trash.

No question that DAYS has the lowest budget of all the soaps. The only way to overcome that is with good writing, which we are getting on DAYS as of late. More movement? I have to agree. DAYS just feels like it has more energy and actual physical movement among the characters. Scene after scene on Y&R is with two characters sitting at a restaurant table or on a couch having a conversation. It's static -- and it's lazy.

-- I agree that they've taken Leslie's camp as far as they can take it. That works only if there's also a real character there, and we're not seeing that. Every scene with her is game-playing. -- Laura couldn't call IT to have that Notes program straightened out? I get it -- we need to see that Eva is desperately needed, even though she was hired with nothing on her resume that told us she was a tech wiz. But the only person Laura could think of to call was Eva??? -- I would feel more sympathetic to Eva if she didn't continue to cover for her mother, essentially playing both sides. Again, I get it -- we need to see a daughter traumatized by a lifetime of control by her nutjob mother. Still, there's nothing about Leslie that Eva should side with at this point. -- I had to LOL when Anita said she has to call her agent to call off the reunion concert. Huh??? You mean a concert was planned and scheduled even though we haven't heard these three sing a single damn note together? -- Are we supposed to be taking Anita's side in this Anita vs Sharon battle? Because I'm not there. One day Anita is sad, despondent, and regretful, and the next she's firing back at Sharon and Tracy that "You two are as much to blame as I am." -- I agree that we need to see the help hired by the wealthy on this show. It's a missed opportunity. -- I continue to like Keith D Robinson as Ted. I think he has more chemistry with Daphnee Duplaix than Maurice Johnson did.

BY FAR the weakest episode of the past week+. -- Even a change in writers cannot make Leo work as a character. Dialing back on his personality isn't enough -- he's still insufferable. Every scene he was in reminded me of why I grew to hate Carlivati. -- Chad couldn't make a longer obituary on John a go with a single phone call? So stupid. -- Jack and Jennifer should have called in their regrets the way Hallmark Sami did. I got nothing from them today and felt nothing. -- Jack slobbering the praise on Leo for his work at the paper was pathetic.
