GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread
I understand your point about firing AS ans KS. Still, contracts expire, and GH doesn't have to renew them. If they can dump SB and IR (for admittedly worse violations), they can get rid of actors who no longer represent the character. Besides, I always thought a show could release an actor after any 13-week period even though the actor was tied to the show for the contract length.

Same here. It's why I rolled my eyes at the casting of Eva LaRue. It's like they add characters without giving any thought to how much airtime they can give them. It's just insanity at this point. I don't know if Steve Burton has been hitting the Krispy Kremes, but I think Chad Duell has. I think Michael's been on a donut binge.

It's still ridiculous, Paul, especially since we see nothing that Sally does or works on. There's not one business story on this show that works. Also not working? Casting child actors who look like they're stoned. Dominic and Harrison could not look more uninvolved and bored and disinterested than they do. The other child actors are no better, because they never seem to forget they're "ACTING."

Nope. Many posters have commented that Storms is making her own decisions on wardrobe and styling. That's cool, Donna. Others disagree with me -- and that's OK. I think her hair is "too much," but I don't think everyone or anyone has to agree with me,. Of course it's OK to disagree. I never said it wasn't. I responded as I did because I was called shallow and judgmental.

I won't deny my hair comments are judgmental and even shallow. And??? Others on this board have been judgmental about wardrobe, hair, styling, and more. Kirsten Storms' styling gets shredded on the regular. We're allowed to share opinions here. And men? I can offer my opinions on them, too, if you'd like. I didn't in my previous post because I wanted to avoid making my post too long LOL

If that's all Laura Wright's hair, then she needs to get someone to thin it LOL The volume is crazy. I never suggested Jane Elliot dye her hair. It's not the color that doesn't work, it's the style. You do understand these are my opinions, right? I'm not "telling" any actress what to do, I'm not ordering them to get a cut and style. It's pretty clear than anyone -- woman or man -- can have any hairstyle they wish. Doesn't mean I can't offer my opinion on them. If these actors were on primetime or in a film, they would be TOLD what to do with their hair. They would not have control over their hair or their wardrobe. Daytime has a load of problems, and this is one of them.

Does the occasional older actress look good with long hair? Yes. Still, as a rule, long hair doesn't work on an older actress, and that's why we call it a rule. I'm not suggesting that Genie Francis should go short, but she'd look better with a shoulder cut. So would Lynn Herring. It seems like GH lets actors call their own shots, from hair to wardrobe. How else to explain that constant Grandma bun on Jane Elliot? I can see her wearing that once in a while, but all the time? It's aging. While I'm at it, I'll add that Laura Wright should ditch at least half the extensions in her head.

You do understand that Trina and Kristina exist in different worlds, right? That their storylines don't touch? You have this weird dislike of Tabyana Ali. -- I think AS and JS play Brook Lynn and Chase like a couple who's been married for 35 years. They still love each other, but the horny days have been gone since forever. They're good friends and a peck on the cheek is more than enough. Well, it SUCKS. Josh Swickard did NOT act like this when Chase was with Willow, so I'm putting this on Amanda Setton. It is absolutely insane that GH (Frank?) is "honoring" her wishes regarding boundaries. Where else in entertainment would this be tolerated? Daytime is not porn, it is not nudity. Her boundaries are just ridiculous, and it's pathetic that GH lets her call the shots. Setton is no Meryl Streep, and they could easily cast the role with someone who was willing to play a real married partner.

And look, I love Eric Braeden as much as anyone. He's a daytime legend and icon. But he can no longer remember his lines. He spends most of his screen time looking down at the notes on the desk or table in front of him. It's so distracting, and there's almost no eye contact with the other actors. I don't know what the answer is. Giving him fewer lines might make the problem more obvious, and EB is not likely to quit until he's carried out of there.

I don't think we really know what it means. Maybe they'll reach an agreement before a trial -- giving Arianne compensation + a new contract. Maybe Sony will play hardball. If execs care about the show, they'll bring back Zucker -- one of DAYS' best actors in history. But do they care? I'm not sure they do.
