"Boring and uninteresting" says it all. And let me complain -- again -- about the soaps making "journalism" a big deal. Chad and Everett working for The Spectator feels like some 1980 flashback. It's so dated that it's embarrassing. When I see this kind of thing, all I can think of is that it's time to kill off all the soaps. No one's even trying.

-- Anyone else disgusted with plotting that has Jack ask Lauren to replace Nikki at Newman while she's a drunk? WTH??? In what world would this take place? Newman is supposed to be this enormous Fortune 500 corporation, yet there's no one to replace Nikki Newman??? And why is the CEO of JABOT coming up with this? This show is now centered on business stories -- uniformly terrible business stories -- and this is more proof that Josh Griffith can't do any of it right. -- Speaking of which.... Abby needs a new manager at Society because she's on Devon's Board of Directors? Again, HUH??? And she asks Tessa, who has NO business/restaurant experience -- to take over for her? Jesus.

I'm not enjoying DAYS at all. I think it's low energy, dated, and boring, and there's not a single storyline I care to see played out. The villains are pathetic and ridiculous. Things were bad with Ron's writIng, but this is no better. By the time he returns with his so-called exciting stories, the audience might be smaller than ever.

So Eric gets a terminal illness. Has some kind of transplant/operation for who knows what. In recovery, although we don't know from what. Dr. Finn goes to the Forresters to tell Eric his "markers" look better than expected, and that it's all due to Eric's "determination." Even better, the entire medical community is impressed by Eric! You cannot make this stuff up.

Over the weekend, I left some negative comments on Antonio J Sabato's Instagram. So many people were falling all over him it was absurd, so I answered back. In one post, I said I had no idea what his "truth" is...that he kept saying he'd tell us but never did. Well, apparently Sabato is thin-skinned. He slid into my DMs. Not making that up. All he said was "I’ll tell you the truth 💪 " I guess I'm in danger.

-- Like others here, I really enjoy Rena Sofer as Lois but hate the way she's currently written. The scenes with Olivia are painful to watch -- there's just way too much Brooklyn on the screen, and the audio make me reach for the Tylenol. -- If Lois is still attached to the recording industry, I expect it to be as current as the writing for the Crimson story. The world knows that print magazines are DONE, and that even the surviving ones know they have to have digital success to survive. Does anyone at Crimson know that?

-- Cannot believe the number of posts here about NuJagger. You'd think the guy had taken over GH and swallowed up every storyline. Jeez. Of course I remember Jagger from 1992, and I was struck by the appearance of the blond. If the replacement was for someone we'd just seen on our screens in the past year or so, I'd dringe. But 30 years??? I get that people are talking about it, but I don't know that calling it "whitewashing" is fair. Besides, I wonder if they hired a blond because they're going to tie him to another character we already know -- Dex, perhaps. One of the problems with the character Dex is that he has no family connection to others. Wouldn't Jagger showing up as his father accomplish that? I'm just spitballing here. I know nothing and haven't heard any spoilers. I just think there has to be a reason they cast Adam Harrington in the role. It's either because of some tie in PC or because he's considered a good actor. -- Regarding Joshua Benard's stint as Adam. Yes, it seemed to end abruptly. I checked the timeline, and he was on the show for 13 weeks. Yes, they contracted him for one soap cycle and that was it. As so often happens, soap writers mess up the pacing and timing. It felt like after week 12, Chris and Dan said "Damn, we have one week to end this." Then we got the lame father reveal and the exit. Awful stuff.

Right. I think she's engaged. I checked Sabato's Instagram -- and it's as hilarious as you'd expect. His "devoted fans" slather on the praise that only a grand narcissist can appreciate, so Antonio should love it. They all miss him, they're horrified he wasn't asked back, they hate Frank, GH is terrible, they're all buying his book.... It is HYSTERICAL.

-- Those Antonio Sabato Jr videos are....special. The guy is a lying MAGA narcissist. He lied about making GH #1. He lied about not having any bad blood with GH for 30 years, when he just tweeted that Frank V should be fired. He lied about having all these projects he's working on -- Wikipedia says he works for a construction company. He lied about giving his "truth" in those videos. If anyone can figure out what he meant by that, let me know. Worst of all, Sabato is DELUSIONAL about what he meant to the show. I'm fine with the recast. The character's been gone for 30 years. THIRTY. The recast is a solid actor with a real resume, so I'm giving him a chance. I think a recast Jagger is much easier to get used to than a recast Molly. -- I agree with Errol about recasting Brenda -- it won't work with anyone but Vanessa Marcil. Anyone can b technically recast, and sometimes great actors are recast and it works (see Edward Quartermaine, for ex.) However, there's just something different about VM/Brenda, and I don't think I can explain it. I just feel it. I do wonder what she's been doing to make a living. Her IMDB and Wikipedia show nothing since 2019 -- that's 5 years. Makes me feel as if she decided to leave acting and that it's not about playing Brenda again. Her husband is a Deputy Sheriff in CA, so it's not like they're rolling in money.

DAYS: February 2024 Discussion Thread
To me, When Deidre refers to John & Marlena as the next Tom & Alice, I think she means that they're the anchor couple on DAYS, not that they're like T&A. A couple like Tom & Alice is a throwback to decades-past, and I don't think today's soaps have much room for them, let alone use. Years ago, DAYS could have turned Doug & Julie into a Tom & Alice-like couple, but decided not to.

This is a perfect description of what Josh Griffith has done to the females on Y&R. You have nailed what he's done -- and done horribly wrong -- with every character. It's the same formula for all of them: I love_____________, but I hate the writing for ______________. I love Ashley, but I hate the writing for Ashley. I love Audra, but I hate the writing for Audra. I love Sharon, but I hate hte writing for Sharon. I love Nikki, but I hate the writing for Nikki. I love Phyllis, but I hate the writing for Phyllis. I love Heather, but I hate the writing for Heather. You get the point. Josh Griffith is a TERRIBLE head writer.

ALL: Epic Soap Opera Fails
The final scene with Rachel and Carl (played with the Bette Midler track) was absolutely brilliant, but I will never -- ever -- understand writing that includes a gorilla in a series finale. I'm still dumbstruck, 25 years later.
