UPDATE ON RATINGS... We have 6 more days of posts to take us through May 1992. As I said recently, we just got June 1992-December 1993 in, but I won't be working on those until after the holidays, so we will have a brief pause in the ratings data after December 14 until January. Also, word is we might be getting some of the still-needed weeks in 1990 and 1991 by the end of the month, so those are two different things to look forward to as we head into 2024!! Before even looking at your post (expanding it to show the chart, I figured that meant there was probably a "breakout" portion of an episode, so that seems to usually be when something like that happens. SOW gets the "almost" final numbers, but then the network at a later point says "hey, wait a minute, we want this half hour of an episode not counted towards our weekly ratings." So, that's pretty much what all of the discrepancies you are finding mean. Of course, I expect there to be a few of my "human error" typos as well, where I think it says 5.3 but it actually says 5.8.

If I've seen all of your updates (which I have been keeping a list of to eventually update/re-check for typos), I believe this is just the second week with a conflict over the past year (November 1990-October 1991). So, going pretty good now. That first year in 1990 had a lot of conflicts. I'm glad things have pretty much quieted down now with the discrepancies!!

Here's my Facebook post: FIRST STRIKE SCRIPT AIRED TODAY... The first strike-affected script of "Days" aired today (December 4). All of the dialogue (script) writers were removed from the credits. As Jason47 had reported earlier this year, the script writers would be the first writers to disappear from the credits, since they submit their scripts after the breakdowns are written. The remaining writers are still in the credits as of today. In the 2007-2008 strike, the dialogue writers reappeared for an episode or two after initially disappearing, so it is possible another script or two was finished and submitted before the strike began in May (they are submitted around the same time, but not always exactly in airdate order), so another episode or two might have the dialogue writers listed again later this week.

Thanks for the daily ratings checks and the reminder. I will add that GL preemption in the 1990's list. Isn't it the following day though? Monday 1/21 aired the first 28 minutes (so I guess that episode counted as airing). It's Tuesday 1/22 that aired a portion of the episode from 3-330 and the Wed. 1/23 aired a portion from 339-4. So, I believe the 1/22 episode aired over two days (1/22 and 1/23), making 1/22 the "preempted" day.

That was the episode that wasn't supposed to happen. Never found out why. My only guess is Days thought they were being preempted Thanksgiving Day but were not. They wrote the episode with tons of flashbacks and taped it the Saturday before Thanksgiving, so just 5 days before it aired and gave it a special episode # 5364A, so the episode was obviously unplanned until the last moment!

Thanks for thinking of me Jane! TV Guide was actually the first magazine I started collecting, before I had ever watched Days, in the 1980's. That is my longest-running collection, although a little incomplete, with just 140 issues missing from 1953-Present, so a 70-year collection!
