DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
FROM THE VAULT: FARAH FAWCETT'S U/5 APPEARANCE ON "DAYS"...EPISODE # 1230...SEPTEMBER 18, 1970 In just her second year of acting, in September 1970, Farrah Fawcett appeared in one scene of "Days of Our Lives" as Blonde U/5 with Ed Mallory (Bill) and Bill Hayes (Doug). Her character does get a full name in the dialogue: Diana Washburn. The character reminds Bill of Laura. As sometimes would happen on the master telecast report, the person writing it would seem to just sound out the name, so that is why she is incorrectly spelled on the report as Fara Fosset.

Thanks! If you can check back to the first Soap Weekly chart from 10/16/89, that would be great. Bill was still the story consultant with Days into Spring 1978, so he was still on the Days payroll until then.

I'll get to those eventually. I'm working on the daytime specials for 1982-1991 now. The demos are easier to post since it's just a quick post of an image. The lists you want require more time to compile, so those will get done eventually.

I didn't convert those yet (I did for DAYS, AMC and BB), the rest are still in the "confusing" format I originally posted them in. But the full lists for 1979-1989 are in this thread, just not as "clean" as the lists now are for DAYS, AMC and BB.

Thanks for the compliments! It's been a fun journey!! I am wrapping up the 1992 books in the next few days, so I should have time this week to help out with any specific 1980's requests this week. If there's a certain week from the 1980's or early 1990's that you would like the demos of a show posted, please let me know.

I was provided the 5/20/91 and 5/27/91 ratings from another soap magazine, which match exactly what Soap Opera Weekly has, so even though we are missing those two books, that gives more confirmation to the numbers being correct.

UPDATE TO WEEK OF 10/19/87: I just received the two scans of ratings today from the fan who had them from soap magazines. The 12/14/87 ratings match exactly what VR posted in 2019. However, there is one difference in the Daytime TV ratings listed for 10/19/87. VR posted OLTL got a 7.4, but Daytime TV has OLTL at 7.5, so I am updating the OLTL rating to 7.5 for that week. As we discussed previously, VR's ratings may have been preliminary, which account for the slight differences, while the incoming information from Daytime TV would be a more final list of ratings. This also explains why the newspaper article that I found (which mentions a tie lower in the chart), does not mention that OLTL and YR are tied at 7.4, since OLTL was 7.5 and YR was 7.4. This new chart is posted in place of the old one:

The soap opera writers' discussion
I don't usually know any writing changes until they happen in the credits. I only knew the Cullitons were retiring because of your chat with them. So, with her name gone, I would assume she's gone. So they must have a new hire or two just before the strike started.

I only have back to 1978, but the Prime Time Network Serials book has this for Beacon Hill, so this will have to suffice for now. We'll be getting the 1975 Nielsen books eventually, so we can see if these verify:
