Steve Blackwood (Bart) isn't a fan of Farah Fath.

I had the exact opposite thing when I met Dee randomly. She had just finished a long signing of her Marlena doll in NYC. I was arriving for a later signing of a group of actors, so I hadn't expected to see her. She came out a side door of 30 Rock as I was arriving for the other signing. As soon as I saw her, I ran over and asked if she would sign my "Days" book (which I had with me for the other signing). The NBC security with her was trying to push her into the waiting car, but she brushed them off and said she would gladly sign my book. Then a mother and young son walked by and asked for a photo with her, and she gladly obliged, all the while as the security was annoyed that she wouldn't get in the car. So, my one fan experience was very nice with Dee. So, I can say for certainty, that for myself, that woman and her son, she did not snap at anyone of us for speaking to her. And this wasn't even at a fan event, this was just on the street where she could have just simply walked into her car as the security was telling her to do so.

In Feb. during its transition to one hour episodes, it was head to head with AMC from 1-2pm. In June, it shifted to an earlier start time of 12:30, putting it up against the low-rating Doctors at the time and Ryan's Hope which was performing reasonably but not at the height of the rest of the ABC lineup. This half hour lead might have been an advantage to YR.

I would be curious to see what the half hour ratings for YR would be at this time.

Quarterly hour averages for these two weeks:

    2/23/81-2/27/81:  1-2PM
    AMC...8.1, 8.8, 9.2, 9.2
    YR...7.6, 8.0, 8.3, 8.7
    DAYS...5.5, 5.7, 6.1, 6.1

    6/8/81-6/12/81...1230-130PM
    RYAN/AMC...6.9, 7.1...8.9, 9.6
    YR...7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.5
    DOC/DAYS...3.7, 3.6...5.5, 5.7

Wow, thanks for typing that all out. It's crazy how detailed that is to the minute.

That is Nielsens one purpose! To accurately rate everything on TV. And to do that, they need an accurate record of the exact times everything aired.

Tomorrow, Janet Spellman-Drucker begins her stint as just the fourth woman in 58 years to be an Executive Producer on "Days of Our Lives."

Betty Corday, the widow of "Days of Our Lives" co-creator Ted Corday, took over as Executive Producer of the show when her husband passed away in July 1966. Betty helped keep her husband's name in the credits, always being billed as Mrs. Ted Corday, until her death in November 1987.

Shelley Curtis was Supervising Executive Producer at "Days" from March 1989 to December 1989, during Al Rabin's brief departure from the show. She remained with "Days" as a Supervising Producer and director until 1991 She was most recently a director at "The Bold and the Beautiful" in 2020.

Lisa De Cazotte was Co-Executive Producer at "Days" from January 2012 to July 2015. She had been the long-time Executive Producer of "Passions" and, after leaving "Days" was a Supervising Producer at "The Young and the Restless." She passed away in December 2019.

Janet Spellman-Drucker joined "Days" in 1984 as a production associate and was named Co-Executive Producer on August 4, 2023.

Hey @JAS0N47, can you pull up the ratings for the week of July 6, 1987? Curious on the ratings of Bargain Hunters and other games being affected by the Iran-Contra hearings. Thanks.

In any previous Game Show lists, I never listed the preemption data, but I did for this one:

One thing I wonder about is when the Nielsen report says X number of minutes aired, how does that work with time zones. @JAS0N47 has told us that sometimes the shows reserved a few minutes for political ads, and intentionally produced a shorter show, so that makes sense. But for a news interruption like this, I wonder if sometimes it's possible the shows did air in full in some time zones?

According to this article the shooting happened at 5:19 PM in St. Peter's Square https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2021-05/may-13th-1981-remembering-that-fateful-day.html which is 11:19 AM US Eastern time and 8:19 AM Pacific time. So that happened early enough that I guess it broke into Y&R and then the rest of the shows on CBS got preempted cause they stayed on the story all day. Same for ABC breaking into AMC and preempting the rest. So then the 20 minutes that aired of Y&R were East coast and the West Coast, I presume, had no show?

But then how come NBC aired partial episodes of all their shows? Did they dip in and out of coverage all day?

That information probably isn't available in Jason's report, so I'm just musing really. I guess it comes from the desire that since Sony isn't going to ever open up their vaults, that somewhere, the show aired in full and some fan recorded it. ;)

I don't include all that extra info, but EVERYTHING is all in the reports! One option is that the later time zones possibly aired local/syndicated programming in place of the soaps. It looks like, for instance, that CBS aired special reports only during the commercial breaks of Search for Tomorrow from 12:30-1PM Eastern.

This is why I'm not too fond of the mainstream press sometimes. Don't do any real research, make mistakes (Albert wasn't the executive producer, and Sony isn't the producer of DAYS), and write short enough articles that include just enough bits and pieces that help pass as if they are covering a story...not to mention only covering it when it's all over.

They were once the gold standard of the industry, since they started over 100 years ago, covering every aspect of show business. I remember in doing research of old issues, they would even have a lot of reports about Days actors joining the show in the 60s and 70s. Guest actors would even take out full or half-page ads to announce they were going to guest on Days. But, like most newspapers/magazines, the quality has gone quite down in recent years.

*WGA-West* listed any/all of their writers who have gone fi-core - if you look closely at their page it says "WGAW" at the top of the ficore list on the current website.
*WGA-East* supposedly doesn't normally reveal their writers who go fi-core. According to what Variety said in 2008, the only reason we know who from East went fi-core in 2007-2008 is that they were outed in a letter.
That is my understanding - I detailed what I mean about that at this post on the strike thread:
    https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/62620-2023-writers-actors-strike-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1865104

But I don't want to derail this "Alarr finally fired" discussion! Celebrating that he's gone!

I always thought that was the full list. I think Jeanne Ford lives in Maryland, so I always thought she would be WGAE, like the Cullitons. Yet Ford is listed on the fi-core list of the WGAW list. That's why my assumption has always been it's the full list of the entire WGA fi-core. Unless I am totally wrong, I just thought WGAE were for writers who lived in the eastern half of the US, and WGAW was for writers who lived in the western half of the US.

  9. VARIETY'S REPORT:

Albert Alarr Out at ‘Days of Our Lives’; Janet Drucker Elevated to Co-Executive Producer

    By William Earl

Albert Alarr is out as executive producer of NBC’s long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives” after a 20-year tenure as a director and producer for the show. His exit follows a misconduct investigation by “Days” producer Sony Pictures Television.

Janet Drucker, a veteran producer who has been with “Days” since 1984, has taken on his duties for leading the production of the daytime serial.

While Sonia has produced her own original series, "Tainted Dreams," she's mostly been a director. It's possible Ken Corday wanted to save money by giving Janet one title and not both. Allegedly, Alarr was making about $2 million a year in his dual role. I'm sure Janet is a LOT cheaper.

Do you think they will be stuck continuing paying him money per his contract?

I have to remember that days is Like 8 months ahead, wonder when Janet's material would air?

It's a fresh start to the new year (2024). The show just happens to also be wrapping up Ron's material as head writer, so around the same time as Janet takes over on Monday, they will also be starting the scab scripts, which should start airing just before or after Christmas Day.

  11. THANK YOU, "DAYS" FANS!

    3a6ab5b60ac1e4e30bdb3e8c6f50b4576fc3e80f

Thank you to everyone who took a moment and made phone calls and emails this week. Thank you for showing your love and support for the cast & crew of "Days of Our Lives." Thank you to Corday Productions, NBC and Peacock for listening to the "Days" family and making a positive change. Monday begins a new chapter of "Days of Our Lives" and I look forward to what lies ahead for the show as we inch closer to its 60th anniversary!

Correct. But we don't know how quick the list is updated, plus GH writers aren't listed and we know they have fi-core writers or "scabs"

I figured they updated the list as quickly as possible, to make sure all WGA writers know who is going to scab. I assume the two "Days" writers who are already fi-core will still be writing during the strike, but the show won't list any names. I expect the script writers to start disappearing from the credits around mid-late November, and then the breakdown writers will start disappearing in early-mid December. And then Ron & Ryan's names will be removed around Christmas Day.

Do we know if she's on strike? There's no guarantee that she's automatically out of a job, too, since technically she didn't do anything wrong, although I can't imagine her staying knowing that her husband was accused of the things he was accused of, regardless of whether the people speaking out were anonymous or not.

WGA has listed any writers who went fi-core. She was not one of them. I wasn't suggesting she was out of a job. They couldn't fire her for his actions, and can't fire her during the WGA strike. I just meant that currently, they are down to 0 "Days" paychecks. So, for the 20 years of abuse he put the cast and crew through, it's a nice thought to end the week.

  13. Thanks, it's been such a sad week posting about Days like this. So, I am so glad it is all over. It was such a pleasure typing up the Janet press release just now. I hadn't announced it, but if you hadn't noticed, I had stopped doing any publicity posts about Days since the cast petition was announced. I would have continued my suspension of any Days publicity (weekly guest stars, episode stats, casting news, etc...) until Alarr was fired.

  14. JANET SPELLMAN-DRUCKER NAMED CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF "DAYS OF OUR LIVES"...

    d92f4f7e03f58fac714fff09632c3198f136f608

Janet Spellman-Drucker, whose first job at "Days of Our Lives" in March 1984 was to answer the phone, is now the new Co-Executive Producer! Spellman-Drucker has steadily risen in the ranks at "Days" over the last 39 years. She first joined "Days" in March 1984 as a production associate. The next year, in 1985, she started splitting her roles, as both a Production Associate and Associate Director. She was promoted to an Assistant to the Producers in August 1988. Spellman-Drucker was named an Associate Producer in December 1989. She was promoted to Coordinating Producer in October 1993. She then became the show's Senior Coordinating Producer from November 1997 until August 2015, when she was named Producer. Spellman-Drucker was again promoted, this time to Senior Producer, in September 2020, the role she held until being named Co-Executive Producer tonight. She directed her first episode of "Days" on June 27, 2022, and has since directed a total of 15 episodes, her most recent directed-episode airing on July 24 Spellman-Drucker was born September 3, 1960. She becomes just the fourth woman in the history of "Days of Our Lives" to be an Executive Producer, joining Betty Corday (1966-1987), Shelley Curtis (1989) and Lisa De Cazotte (2012-2015). In a 2015 interview, she stated that "Days became such a wonderful place, it became my family...I've grown up here." Congratulations, Janet!

  15. IT IS NOW FRIDAY EVENING...THERE HAS BEEN NO WORD OF ALBERT ALARR'S TERMINATION...NOW THE QUESTION BECOMES: WILL ANY CAST SHOW UP TO WORK NEXT WEEK, OR WILL "DAYS" BE FORCED TO SHUT DOWN PRODUCTION FOR ANOTHER WEEK?

Thank you to all the "Days" fans this week for making phone calls and taking time to email Corday Productions and Peacock executives. It is so nice that this show has such a wonderful group of fans who care about the cast & crew! Hopefully, your voices, as well as that of the cast petition, will be heard and we can get back to talking about the show we all love!
