Ratings From the 90's
The rest of 1995 is now in! The November 1995 non-soaps chart above has been updated with that data. I see in October 1995 that CBS had a YR preemption but also a primetime special a few weeks later, so they aired 2 episodes in one day (one in the Price slot from 11AM-12PM), so that they would stay on target with the storylines. The same thing happened to Days a year earlier in 1994, but NBC edited two daytime episodes into one episode to keep the storylines on track. So, with YR, CBS went a different way and fans got to see both of the episodes in their entirety. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: A LOOK AT ITS 1970'S RATINGS: Although not a daytime show, SNL has not had much coverage of its ratings data, so for SNL fans, here's a highlight look at the 1976-1979 years. Note: The last commercial break and final act of SNL are usually not rated, so that's why the end times differ for each episode.

UPDATE # 2 (posted above): TPIR 2 is # 1 only briefly though, since I just started typing up the August 1980 chart, and ABC put Love Boat up against Price Is Right hour, and Love Boat is now # 1.

I haven't posted them all yet, I was just saying it generally. I'll be finishing up the 1970's and 1990's in the next few days. February 1980 is the first chart that happens. Now you have me interested in checking the exact week, so I'll check the 11/79-1/80 weeks as well and see when that happens! UPDATE: Price Is Right 2 took over the # 1 spot the week of 2/4/80-2/8/80, which is when GL moved to 3-4PM, pushing One Day at a Time from 330-4PM to 4-430PM. The last week One Day at a Time aired at 330PM, 1/28/80-2/1/80, it got a 8.9/26 (98 percent clearance, 190 affiliates). The next week at 4PM, it got a 3.8/11 (62 percent clearance, 122 affiliates). So the cutting of One Day a Time affiliates from 190 to 122 is what finally got Price Is Right 2 into the # 1 spot. UPDATE # 2: It is only briefly though, since I just started typing up the August 1980 chart, and ABC put Love Boat up against Price Is Right hour, and Love Boat is now # 1.

FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM FEBRUARY 1978 & MAY 1978: That's a fun stat. So, you mean it was on continuously on CBS in either the daytime, weekend or primetime slots from the 1950's to 1977? Quite a run!

I have checked the 20 dates missing from the 1977 fast weekly weeks in newspaper archives and found these scheduled preemptions. These notes have been added to these weeks: FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 4/18/77-4/22/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were several scheduled preemptions this week. On CBS, "Magazine" preempted "Double Dare" and "The Price Is Right 1" on 4/21/77 from 10-11AM. A President Carter News Conference on 4/22/77 was scheduled to preempt "Double Dare" on CBS and "Sanford and Son" on NBC from 10-1030AM. All other daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 6/20/77-6/24/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were no scheduled preemptions and all daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 8/22/77-8/26/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were several scheduled preemptions: On 8/23/77, a President Carter News Conference from 230-3PM was scheduled to preempt "Guiding Light" on CBS, "The Doctors" on NBC and the first 30 minutes of "One Life to Live" on ABC. All other daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 12/19/77-12/23/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were no scheduled preemptions and all daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). From my research, I only have CBS daytime airing Lucy-related shows during these time frames: I Love Lucy 1/5/59-9/23/66 The Lucy Show 9/9/68-9/1/72 Here's Lucy 5/2/77-11/4/77 So, no Lucy-related shows on CBS daytime from 9/26/66-9/6/68 and 9/4/72-4/29/77.

I've known of that resource for many years, but I think they mainly started posting the primetime Nielsen rankings at some point in the 1980's, around the same time USA Today started its weekly charts. Not much focus on daytime that I know of.
