Y&R: October 2025 Discussion Thread
Does anyone know why TPTB are sending all these characters to LA at the same time? And introducing new contract characters while they are there? It is all going to be centered around one storyline set in LA? Or are they all there at the same time by coincidence?? Plus, I'm assuming the new contract characters (at least one or two) will end up moving to Genoa City. So there will need to be some explanation for that. I'd love to hear any speculation.

BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
Well, I don't think she's been referred to in the scripts as a "female impersonator", but an Anita Williams impersonator. But I understand what you mean. But in Vegas, most (if not all) Elvis impersonators are cis men. So who knows??

BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
Yes, that could be okay. As long as the confusion is brief -- like one scene. But are you sure Jackie is a drag queen? Of course it is implied that she might be. But it wasn't mentioned during the wedding, and I don't believe Anita or Vernon have made any reference to her being a drag queen. If Jackie is not a drag queen, but a cis woman, then all bets are off!

BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
Does anyone think the recent interactions between Anita and Jackie Tyree, and now the invitation to Thanksgiving dinner, might be foreshadowing something like a doppelgänger kidnapping? Vaguely similar to Kathryn and Marge years ago on Y&R? I'm sorta hoping they don't go that direction with the impersonator. But we all know, whenever a major soap opera character has a "look-alike", it ultimately results in the doppelgänger (or twin) briefly replacing the original (or at least attempting to). Personally, I don't hate that type of storyline, but I think it is a little too early in the infancy of BTG to resort to that trope. Two or three years from now, I might be ready for it. Any else have an opinion about this?

Today's episode was very engaging and character-driven (and I love character-driven stuff on any soap). It's nice to see the writers step away from the non-stop major plots, slow things the-heck-down, and give the audience a few episodes to take a breath and enjoy interactions between the characters. Great to see BTG maturing in this direction.

Seems we are being sent on another out of town caper. Last time, we went to a villa in France with more than half the cast for three months. And now, we're headed to Los Angeles with a smaller, yet significant number of cast members. Any speculation (not verified spoilers) regarding what we are in for in LA??

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I was never a fan of the Dobson's work on ATWT, but I had been crazy about GL while they were in charge in Springfield. Their work on GL was very character driven, while still providing strong plots -- the perfect combination, really. On ATWT, I thought the Dobsons' storylines were acceptable, but I have never understood why they chose to "rip out the core" (to use your words) at ATWT, when on Guiding Light they had used the established "core" in such wonderful ways. For example, why did they get rid of (or minimize -- whatever term is best) Chris and Nancy, when they did not do the same with Bert Bauer, Steve Jackson, Sarah McIntyre, etc. on Guiding Light? There are ways to update and modernize a soap opera without tossing aside profoundly important legacy characters. I enjoyed the way the Dobsons wrote for the second and third generations of ATWT's legacy -- plenty of storylines for Bob, Lisa, Kim, John, Ellen, David, and Tom, Dee, etc. But when Chris and Nancy all but disappeared, many long-term fans just could not see anything positive in that. So anything else the Dobsons did was almost muted by the alienation of so many long-term viewers.

And poor Pat took to drinking, because she mistakenly believed John was screwing her best friend Lenore. Then Bernice was murdered on Pat and John's patio (the body was found by Mary Matthews), and poor Pat was too drunk that afternoon to remember whether or not she had killed Bernice. Pat was a suspect in the murder, but did not go to trial. In the end, a young lawyer from John Randolph's firm, Mark Vendable, admitted to killing Bernice in a fit of rage -- because he had also been screwing Bernice. And didn't Walter Curtain also have an affair with Bernice? Lord that Bernice...

In the early days of DOOL, did Tom Horton see patients in his home? I recall reading somewhere that he had a medical practice (office and examining room) located on the first-floor of the Horton house. If that is true, how long did that last, before they moved all the medical stuff to the hospital?

Interesting. Thanks for the additional information. I began watching AW daily a month or two after Walter's death. Previous to that, I only saw occasionally parts of episodes. So I was aware Lenore had been on trial and that Walter had been the killer. But I didn't know many details at all. I did see a couple of scenes with Walter removing the scarf from the wall safe and talking to himself. And I remember seeing at least one scene of the trial. Wasn't Lenore pregnant during the trial? I'm not sure if my memory is correct about that. And wasn't Wayne Addison also having an affair with Bernice Robinson? That guy must have been virile and vigorous. LOL.

I don't know the reason Lenore was acquitted. It may have been that she was simply found not guilty by the jury. I don't think a jury is required to give a reason for a not guilty verdict. Or it may have been related to lack of evidence, because the scarf Lenore left behind at the murder scene was taken by Walter and locked in a safe. Had the police (rather than Walter) found Lenore's scarf at the scene, that would have supplied proof that she had indeed visited Wayne on the night of the murder. I'm not sure if her visit was disclosed to the jury or not, but I'm sure the prosecution did not have the scarf. So that may have contributed to her being acquitted.

Another World Discussion Thread
In old soap opera lore, there is a tradition that no soap opera secret ever stays secret for very long. But the history of Another World gives us one of the few exceptions to that rule: Walter Curtain murdered Wayne Addison, but only Walter Curtain and the viewing audience knew the truth. Then many months later, Walter admitted to his wife Lenore, that he had been the killer. That same night, Walter died in an auto accident So the secret of Wayne Addison's murder was known by only two characters on the show (Walter and eventually, Lenore), plus the audience. And although Lenore remained on the show for several years after the murder, she never shared Walter's secret with anyone.

Thank you for responding! And I LOVE that photo! Did all five of them have storylines during that period? Or were some just visiting briefly? I remember all five of the original siblings. But do not remember them being on-screen together.

Is it true that all five of the original Horton off-spring were on the show at the same time around 1971? If so, I would enjoy watching those episodes.

BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
Alex Cheeks (Donnell) is clearly an amazing actor. This kid is going places. BTG needs to use him, while they have him -- as ATWT did with Julianna Moore. Make Donnell the male romantic lead in a young love storyline. He is so talented. I betcha' he's one contract, and OUT. On to primetime or beyond. MVJ, please do not back-burner Donnell.

Understood. Scotty Banning doesn't carry the Horton name, but I believe Rick Hearst is pushing 60. And David, if he were still living would be pushing 75. And Mike Horton is approximately the same age as David. So in terms of the future -- the Horton name in Salem appears to be screwed. That's what we get, when a soap opera focuses on on the female members of the core family for forty-years. Still lots of Horton relatives, but nobody actually named Horton.

DAYS: October 2025 Discussion Thread
So now Jeremy Horton is back. Finally we have a male carrying the Horton name on the show again. But he's in his early 40s with no wife, and apparently no children. Big mistake. Why not bring Jeremy back with a wife and four kids? This show pays a lot of lip-service to the Horton family, but TPTB seem unwilling to take any actions that might actually grow the family with characters who can carry the Horton name into the next generation and even beyond. If the Horton name is going to survive on DOOL, TPTB need to start focusing on at least a few of the male members of the family.

I think this is Josh Griffith's idea of a way to break-up two long-term married gay women, and then have one of the women turn to a man for emotional and sexual satisfaction Josh will use the idea that "women are sexually fluid" to justify it. Bullshit.

ALL: "Soapy" Podcast hosted by Rebecca Budig & Greg Rikaart
Does anyone else find it strange that Greg and Rebecca usually begin each new episode as if it is just a continuation of the previous episode? I realize they may be shooting these episodes back-to-back, but I've never seen/heard a podcast or a talk show begin episodes in that manner. It's strange and off-putting in my opinion.

I'm wondering if the bad wigs are supposed to be a result of Amy's cancer treatment. Although losing her hair has never been mentioned in the scripts, maybe the purpose of the bad wigs is to indicate that she has indeed lost her hair. To be honest -- Amy's wigs have been so bad (since day one), there almost has to be a reason for them.

This head writer is so strange. Why bring back a classic character and then isolate her from the few characters in town who might remember her? No other writer would do that. Nutty.

What's going on with the board?
No, I'm always typing when it expands, so my mouse isn't being used when expansion occurs. It seems to happed because I'm typing. Typing seems to be what triggers it. It's very frustrating.

What's going on with the board?
Thank you. That is what I see also, when I begin typing a post. But that's when the small video ad expands to cover the entire screen. Then it does it over and over again as long as I keep typing. I sent you a couple of screen pics (above), showing the ad(s) filling the screen. So the problem is the video filling the screen. When it is small and in the corner, it's not a problem.
