One positive thing I will point out. Since I know there’s a lot of negative and it can be hard to see any positives. It does feel like JG is branching out to add more than one/two storylines to the show at once again which I do appreciate. Too bad all the storylines are absolute garbage.. but that’s one good thing I will say for now 😆 It’s not that I don’t like the occasional umbrella storyline here and there but they have to atleast make sense. This writer does not do umbrella storylines well. Also, something still needs to be done about the way the cast is being featured. So many characters only getting 5-6 episodes a month when they’re supposed to be in a major storyline is not acceptable!

Yeah that’s pretty dark but a lot of those storylines were very soapy and like someone else mentioned, the stakes were high. She also had Sharon drug an officer and escape from prison and dye her hair dark to disguise her appearance. Phyllis was dragging bodies out of her penthouse with the help of Kevin. Very outlandish but still pretty entertaining nevertheless.. The show was still investing in couples and writing romance stories like Billy and Victoria even though I was NOT a fan of them, I know they had a fan base. Was Cane and Lily also a MAB creation? I know for certain she wrote Lilys cancer storyline and that one I did actually enjoy too.

Not even close. The show was better. It really was starting to decline a lot by that time but atleast there were stories and a budget. The stories sucked, sure.. but atleast we got to see the action unfold. We just have to take characters words for it when they say something happened off screen while they sit and drink coffee and chat. BORING.

Oh wow. Mark Grossman and Courtney Hope in scenes together? When’s the last time that happened? I know these two dated IRL but I wonder how serious it actually got between them and how awkward doing these scenes were to do

..and Faith should be a major character driving story right about now. She’s in her early 20s by now I’d assume, she’s a Newman. There’s plenty they could and SHOULD be doing with her! Instead they’re writing stories for Victor and Nikki that would be more suitable for the younger set. Why would we care that Nikki might leave Victor for the millionth time.

Yeah but aren’t we supposed to forget that? Hes portrayed by a new actor who absolutely is not a blonde what so ever and you’d think the kids would resemble who they are now. It’s not really a big deal just something I picked up in and found odd

Are we serious with this Christmas episode? So little characters are even featured. Where’s Nick, Sharon, Adam, Chelsea, Noah, Christian, Faith etc? I can appreciate that they featured the other Newman kids (Johnny and Katie) but also, why does Johnny have blonde hair and light features when both parents have thick, dark hair? Anyways. I would have liked to see more Newmans for the Christmas episodes AND the Abbotts. We only get Jack and Diane for Christmas? Where was Kyle, Ashley, Traci? My god the lack of effort is astonishing

Since JG is clearly not gonna stop with the stupid storylines he might as well go full camp and bring back a character like Gloria. I despised her but with all this back from the dead crap he might as well go all the way and give us some comedic relief at least. Y&R was historically always a more serious show with realistic plots but those days are over so might as well mix in some fun silly sh*t to keep us entertained.

Thank god Sharon got her hair done and what appears to be better makeup. Sometimes the hair and makeup people just don’t do these women justice.. especially older women. Nikki is threatening to leave Victor again for going after Jack and the Abbotts 😂 we’ve seen this film about 10 times now. Anything Claire/Kyle related.. SKIP Sally being this fierce business woman is just not working for me. Maybe it’s because I took a break from the show and didn’t know Sally’s back story from B&B but she absolutely does nothing for me. She is filler, and boring just like Claire.

nuCane and Lily do in fact have chemistry and I enjoyed their playful scenes together at Crimson Lights. Still wish this actor came in as a new love interest for Lily, but since we couldn’t have that I’d at least want the writers to keep him in Lily's orbit and away from Phyllis. Find something else for Phyllis to do please.. being in a triangle with Lane is NOT it.

I’m liking new Noah too. I just get the Ick with him and Sienna. It’s not just because of the age difference (I mean it is that too), but also I just can’t help but feel like Sienna is a fking loser for wanting to be with Noah romantically.. and I don’t wanna feel that way about her because I like this actress a lot. It’s just, really girl? You’re willing to sacrifice your life to this young man who probably, still in many ways still a little boy and this is the man you feel secure with? I don’t know. I just don’t feel like it’s realistic. Unless they showcase Sienna as a woman who is going through a serious midlife crisis then I might believe it. Right now.. nope.

The Sienna & Noah romance could give Nikki and Sharon a reason to bond over their mutual disgust with their relationship. I guess I am slightly curious to see how this all plays out now that the L.A crap is coming to an end .

I love that BTG has such a large cast. I wonder if that’s because they don’t have to worry about paying them outrageous amounts of money since they have no vets on the show?

I tuned in to the last couple episodes because I saw Victor would have scenes with Shick in L.A and was surprised at how long the scenes were. I’ve suspected for awhile that EB would no longer want his character sharing many scenes with Sharon because of the whole ranch burning thing and marrying Tucker years ago. I have so missed their father/daughter in law relationship and have wanted that fixed for a long time.

Yeah I mean Passions was definitely a cult classic & was my introduction to the soap world as a young millennial but re-watching this show as a grown adult, I realize just how much of it was hot garbage. There were good things about it but there’s a reason why most of Passions audience were so young. The S/L’s were stupid and there was hardly ever any payoff to any of them. If you compare any other soap to Passions around this time, it’s obvious JER was not giving us intelligent soap writing whatsoever. It was lazy… and I don’t have a problem with campy. It was just poorly done. The amount of episodes that went on of Luis and Sheridan getting so close to telling Antonio the “truth” about their love, just for something super dumb to stop it is ridiculous. Or all the times Theresa would almost tell Ethan he’s little Ethan’s father but Pilar or someone else would stop it. Beyond frustrating! It actually got progressively worst over time. They probably had the best years right in the beginning because the budget was atleast there.

Also, why are we acting like “complaining about lack of sets” isn’t 100% valid? Most characters don’t even have a home anymore. If you’re satisfied with mediocrity just say that, but the rest of us don’t have to pretend to like it

This is how every comment by this poster is. I’m employed though, so I can’t relate to seething over other strangers comments on a soap opera message board all day.

Those numbers would be understandable for CG if she was just a supporting character who is not being given much to do. Maybe if she were just helping Sharon around the coffee house and having the occasional one on one conversation with her.. but she’s supposed to be at the centre of a major storyline, and it’s only dragging on because it’s hardly being show cased at all. Is this being done because they don’t wanna pay their actors what they’re worth and only guaranteeing them a few episodes here and there? I’m sorry but that’s not acceptable for soap opera storytelling..

I still dip in and out of this forum but I’d be lying if I’m not coming on here daily to check for the “JG is out at Y&R!” Article which has not come yet.. 😭. That will be a great day.

Billy Millers ‘Billy Abbott’ just captured the essence of Billy so perfectly for me.. and I don’t even necessarily think he was the best actor, he was just the best at playing Billy. I have lost so much interest in the character since he was recast after BM.

I might actually tune in to see Ashley and the Abbotts celebrate Thanksgiving. Everything else sounds like 💩.

Right. As if it’d be anything other than “small and intimate”. I wonder when was the last time a wedding was actually held at a church or wedding venue? Was it Nick & Sharon’s wedding in 2018?
