  1. I particularly liked the DirecTV year because JER was free from broadcast censors and could do whatever he wanted. 1999-2002 was definitely the best followed by 2004 and 2006-08 in my humble opinion. Gosh I loved Endora and how she naturally evolved to fill the void left by Timmy.
  2. You’re right. As an Alamain, John came from an even higher class than Marlena.
  3. Kyle is an anchorman in Nevada now (which is a win for me too because I don’t want him back on Days)
  4. There’s nothing indeterminate about how long John raised the kids. It was five years. We saw the kids onscreen. We could see how old they were. None of them were SORASed.
  5. If John McCook is really exiting, they should try to bring back the original Felicia.
  6. Patch and Kayla’s relationship began with him literally stalking her. So much of the 80s is problematic viewed through a contemporary lens. She was traumatized and still trying to process the death of her murdered twin who only died because the killer thought Sam was Marlena. Roman had no right to lay hands on her. It’s not undetermined. He raised them onscreen from 1986-1991.
  7. It’s easy enough to fix the rewrites. I think my post is in this thread where I explained what could be done. It wouldn’t even need to be a story, just a few lines of dialogue. Swap out Sheila’s dialogue about Finn and replace it with dialogue addressing Pheila/the twins/Sarah. Bada bing, bada boom, fixed! Has Steffy ever mentioned that Sheila’s daughter Diana is her aunt? In fact, was there ever any definitive proof that Diana was Massimo’s daughter or even Sheila’s daughter?
  8. I’m trying to find the slap, no luck so far. Nobody is threatened by Wayne or even the character of Roman. There are a lot of new Roman fans (and some old ones) who don’t understand the history. Roman didn’t raise any of his kids for example. John raised them. So Eric should call John “Dad” as well as Roman.
  9. Fair enough. I’d still argue Gen X was not the target audience for Passions although Xennials seemed to enjoy it too. Passions was the only soap opera I would hear other kids (who I didn’t know) talking about at school.
  10. It was absolutely satire and absurdity. James E. Reilly was an excellent writer. He knew how to entertain the target demo: teens like me. Passions was never meant for the kind of folks who like that old-school Bell/Nixon/Marland style of writing. That’s for Boomers and whatever generation that came before them.
  11. I’m referring to his initial scene where he shows up to her office as a patient then pretends to be the Strangler and brings out a scarf to choke her. It’s very disturbing and it’s so bizarre that they became a couple after any of that.
  12. That’s a good point. Of the three, Kimberlin is at least a good actor.
  13. I’m sorry, I don’t have them. The clips were posted on twitter.
  14. Melchior is hardcore MAGA…Brad would be insane to bring her back.
  15. You might want to watch her original run as Anjelica.
  16. Judith is definitely my style of soap actress unlike the nauseating Rogers or Seaforth-Hayes.
  17. My issue with Days in its current form is the cast. The only characters I like are Marlena, John, and Bonnie. Alas, Bonnie has been written dreadfully out of character since her return in 2020 (which is weird because she was written properly in 2017 and 2018). I am grateful, however, that they took action and got rid of actors I absolutely couldn’t stand (Madison and Banus). Hopefully 2024 will bring more cast cuts and better returns (Eileeeeennn!). As for the writing, I feel fired guy is 95% responsible for bad writing so I am very excited to see what an unshackled Ron can do with Janet. I enjoyed his first three years.
  18. Huge Therethan fan here! Gwench was always the evil one and Theresa and Ethan were always portrayed as the true love couple. If Passions aired today, Zoomers would have a total conniption over things like Julian and Valerie having sex and Vincent giving birth to his own father’s baby. They’re so reactionary and angry. As a Millennial I loved everything about Passions and embraced the absurdity and the satire. The more transgressive it got, the more I liked it.
  19. Well I guess you will only see me now in the classic Days thread, lol
  20. Disagree with all of this. Sheila is my favourite character.
  21. Thank you. I didn’t think it was true.
  22. I’m pretty sure Jan left Evan to die in the lake and then took off with the baby.
  23. Is it true that Sheraton Kalouria and James E. Reilly were romantically involved?
