I loved Sally’s run on Days. She wrote Eileen’s epic exit storyline The Killing Pool. She also wrote the killing of Franco Kelly which generated story for years after she had left. I started watching Y&R again for her in 2016. After the first three months I could start to see behind the scenes interference in her stories and peace out by May 2017. A shame because those first three months felt like the real Y&R again. I am so curious about the Saturday morning spinoffs that were in the works at NBC: one focusing on Days’ Last Blast Crew and the other focusing on Tabitha teaching home ec at Harmony High or something along those lines. A primetime miniseries adaptation of Hidden Passions was also apparently in the works at one point.

Noah Reed from Days. He was born offscreen in December 2012 but has still never appeared despite Carrie and Austin returning a couple of times since then. This one irritates me because Carrie and Austin are my favorite Days couple. We waited twenty years for them to finally have a kid only for him to be born and raised offscreen.

Eileen is my favorite Days actress of all time so I’m beyond ready for the terrible recast to exit for good. Mary Beth Evans always looks like she doesn’t want to be there. She’s always frowning. That’s why some of us mock Kayla’s “Sweetness” nickname by calling her “Sourpuss”. I’d get rid of them and bring back Shane and Kim instead.

I’m not a Patch and Kayla fan so it especially irks me. I much prefer John and Marlena’s dynamic with Bo and Hope as well as Jack and Jennifer. Does anyone know if Eileen will be coming back in 2024 (ideally as Susan and Kristen)? Her appearances as Thomas last spring were the highlight of the year for me.

Fired guy hated Marlena and John and literally said it’s “not fair” that they have so many family connections. Well, that’s what happens when your leading lady has been in 5000+ episodes! So yeah, he was why John and Marlena rarely get family scenes. For example, fired guy is responsible for Johnny being in the Dimera bubble and not interacting much with his grandmother. Fired guy was also a Patch fan which is why Patch and Kayla are so often paired with John and Marlena (to try to make his faves relevant).

I quit watching GH in 2020. Does Genie have a good story? She was my only reason for watching and it becomes too difficult to watch a soap for only one character (I also love Felicia but she wasn’t on contract then).

It might have all been filmed in one day but it counts as individual episodes, thus burning through their guarantees. Notice Lauren came off contract immediately after appearing almost every day for a month. Info comes from an administrator at another soap board I frequent (the one with the crown).

According to Errol in this thread, Sheri was (maybe still is?) at Days as storyline consultant. I don’t think Days has had anyone in that role since James E. Reilly in 1998.

Hopefully Jamey’s return means nepo hire Henry Newman (and ideally his mom) is gone. For me, Days’ biggest writing problem are the script writers who simply do not know or understand these characters and their history. In addition, Fran is a terrible script editor who can’t even keep the day-to-day continuity straight. Show her the door. Fire all the scriptwriters and breakdown writers and replace them with previous Days writers. Marlena was shown nearly daily last month because the fired guy was burning through Dee’s guarantees. Same with Lauren.

It hurts me to see Eileen on this show. She is so much better on Days as Susan and Kristen. I hope she can do both in 2024. I’m here for the Danny and Cricket reunion. They are my favorite Y&R couple of all time. I’ve been waiting nearly 30 years for this! With Cole back, hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Nina. I’ve always loved how she stole not one but two of Vicki’s husbands! 😅

If Eric dies, I hope it turns out his divorce from Sheila was never finalized and she ends up in control of everything. It would give her the upper hand against Steffy and would hopefully lead to the long-awaited showdown with Lauren (I’ve been waiting 18 years for it).

The lack of story for John and Marlena is frustrating. They should be front and centre. Hopefully the scabs (who are all former Days writers apparently) will give them good material.
