  1. The actor tells the story that Weston told him, "Well, if you ever want to come back, we will bring you back," and he was like..."I'm a dead serial killer,"...Weston, "Oh we will work around that..." At least Hurst or someone in the last week had the heart to have Bill say to Fletcher "I really miss Ben" with Fletcher, "So do I!"
  2. Lol..I love to see what the KimmerFraus would say to these posts! Is Kimmer's return another thing to blame on JFP..if she hadn't made the show the Buzz Cooper Dumpster Fire and dropped the ratings would they have forced her to bring on Kimmer (even short term as a ghost...) which then brought back to KimmerFraus back to GL which led McLaibey to give Reva an unfortunate pulse.
  3. Ugh...Rauchie could care less about the Readons (yet dull as dirt FauxEleni gets screen time...cause Im sure he thought she was HOT...) and wanted them off the screen..Nola just stuck around to ride out Brown's contract and because viewers got wind of him wanting to get rid of the family. At least keep Bridget around until Van comes back. And lord...Van not wanting to claim her family, her wealth and her power all because the dull pretty boy is banging her psycho daughter (or so she thinks...blah...) Again, why is Phillip wasting his time sniffing after Harley, his ex sister her law that he never showed an attraction to, then claiming his stake in Spaulding now that Alex is gone? So, stupid...again Rauch's edit that tis "all about passion" but it makes all the adults look like teenagers. Annie outshone Reva during the entire time, as weirdly they wrote her..she did have an inner (psycho) life and purpose...(to live life at the fullest and make her enemies jealous...) but Reva during this time has no inner life. What does she want?? Josh, not even her kids or her family or her old life...jsut Josh. So she spend the rest of Annie time reacting to Annie as she walks around in beige pantsuits and does nothing (at least she was a photographer before) and acts like she is a down rent Vicki from OLTL.
  4. They should have made him David...I never liked Marcus but since Dinah was the Reva for McLaibey they had to write support for her. (and who believed Marcus would put up with Dinah...) The David falling for Bridget thing was just a scene or two, I remember Bridget bringing out garbage (I love when soap characters do real things) and they talk and David says, "I love you," and Bridget offhandeling says, "Oh David I love you two," totally friend zoning him. The network wouldn't let Bridget and David happen with Monti, but it would have been great to work out with a good actor as Bridget would be a rebel and then they could explore some racial dynamics (like maybe Van isn't a complete saint and her old bias comes in when she has a bad reaction to the two of them, something she doesn't even like about herself.) Marcus got worse when they had him chase after teenage Dahlia!
  5. Yea, it was some dumbass thing like Simon...I just remember Alex being knocked out in the jungle and the Encontra whatever killing a snake with a rock and nursing her. Then Alex escaping central casting's South American General on a bike!
  6. That's what I meant, before Zaz started showing symptoms there was a storyline planned...Rauch even said Roger/Holly were GL's signature couple (no doubt sending Kimmer into a fit..) Someone dropped that Ellen Parker would be involved (Mo alive in the Caribbean?) Anyway, who knows. I get why they wanted to get away from Spaulding Enterprises as it was so shittily written....but dumb move just the same...a solid writer could have had Springfields factor of evil as a great backdrop...and I would have merged Lewis so all the infighting could take place on one set.
  7. Someone had suggested that Cassie's dad be Bill Bauer...traveling salesman and well know cad! I think the Encantradoro or whatever did appear when Alex and Johnnie were in San Rios and she was kidnapped by a cliche South American general?
  8. That's the kind of stuff GL did so well that no one else was doing...I love Billy about to tell Marah about Josh's porn stash! Imagine Marland writing that!
  9. Rauchie thought there were two many Spaulding's (as they wrote them interchangeably) and he thought Amanda could take the place of the (older) Alex. There were big plans for Holly/Roger/Amanda and something about the black Spauldings but Zaz being fired and the hullabaloo over that stopped that when they couldn't write for his replacement (they found out that the actor helped make the part) so Amanda got thrown out too (they fired her the day she found out she was pregnant.) McLaibey had a hard on for Moniz...even JFP allowed Bridget to stand her ground with Dinah, but as soon as McLaibey....they treated her like a drab second ran. The triangle with Hart was made up with her to be the spoiler and to look pathetic next to Dinah, and they regressed her character in doing so.
  10. Ha...yes, there is Spaulding in (or should be) in turmoil (Alex gone, Amanda now Alan's sister with a will leaving part of Spaulding to her, Alan more interested in getting Josh's left overs then he is grabbing his company back) and Phillip is...having coffee at the diner, sniffing after his brother's ex wife and listing to Buzzard bellow. I mean, I know the year before was bad, but this crap is just a bit of a step up and it still sucks, how could GL get more improved?
  11. Exactley...they had no clue what to do with Blake so they just made her a ditzy..which she never was...remember when Labine wanted to make her a mail order preacher? Nola just disappeared...they came out with a statement to the mags that Brown was now on recurring, and they looked forward to "many visits from Nola," in the future..but nothing happened (Brown coached the younger actors so with GL, she had her hands full.) Dumb, as she was perfect to be on recurring and managing Company and getting into everyone's business and acting like a greek chorus on what was going on, but you know..we have to focus on Reva and Cassie..so lets make a dumb island! Matt sold Company to Buzzard (I always wanted Nola to come back and buy it back and kick the Coopers back to 5th street....) Especially since he was sitting at the table with the woman who blackmailed his daughter and switched her paternity tests! If he wasn't thinking of ways to get back he would be thinking of ways to use Annie to bring Alan down..especially since she had him carrying her purse all the time...(I hate RR's Alan, his "Now Amanda" is so damn wimpy...) I gotta say, the women in this scene gave it their all and looked great. I do like Amanda's snakiness and think Alex needed a rest at this time after Marj and bad writing...but even Poser's Amanda is obscured..she would also be thinking of ways to use both Annie and Beth to manurer the Spaulding men out. Because it was stupid...Harley was the only one on contract at that time...and to have them investigate a crime they would need them to have writers who could make a coherent storyline. They relegated her to the Coopers and that damn diner, both of which Nadine wanted to get away from. She always had to moon over Buzz, the midget looser who left her and her kids, so there was not much to do with her. I always though Nadine should run after Ed, wanting to be a doc's wife...Nola, Bridet and Van would be aghast and maybe she could wake up sourpuss Peter Simon.
  12. Because in Holly's eyes Harley was not a good mom..(I am sure giving Susan up for adoption...though she probably would have encouraged her to do so when trashtastic Daisy came back..) Roger fails to exist from this point on until Sebastian...per MADD. I did hate how Blake post 93/94 entire life revolves around Ross..she does not seem to work, she is having out at the diner of all places constantly, and then she has the kids and spends her time horning on Ben for...reasons???/
  13. Hart thought it was the stalker outside and ran out, knocking the door into Dinah. But here is the thing with the dumbed down GL...the door opened OUT instead of in (it wasn't the screen door, it was the door to the house!)
  14. Oh, my a Nadine fan exists!!! I thought Nadine was knock off Nola..but so was Harley at first. Though I did love her as a greedy social climber with a B-Hollywood past. One of my fave scenes was Frank talking about how he didn't have a traditional mom or upbringing, as she would "Let us stay up late watching Johnny Carson eating out of a bucket of chicken!" That line itself would only be written by a GL writer at that time (I cant imagine anyone in Marland's ATWT saying that) and exemplified Nadine and the Cooper family which made them unique, before they tried to turn them into the Super Dooper Coopers the selfrighteous center of SF. I hated that they put poor Deenie chasing after Buzz and living at the diner all the time...now that I think about it, the same thing happend to Nola, stuck in the Boardinhouse and then chasing Buzz. Both of them deserved better. Ferrel wanted to go, which is one of the dumbest things she could do, what other acting job could she get? Long talked her into staying longer after her contract ran out so she could write her out..but THIS is how you do it..being dragged out to go to a nuthouse to never be heard from again...(they did mention Roxie as a possible stalker during that time..)
  15. Nah, I liked that Bridget was taking over the family business, and they did have the boardinghouse be the refuge of "misfits" as Roger called them once. THAT is where Nola comes in, taking care of and cultivating the misfits of bland SF encourage them to be themselves (as now she has cash and can tell the world to go to hell..) And yes, in fanmind, boring heroine Dinah met Nola and Quint in Morocco and Nola introduced her to...the boys and the, refreshments, encouraging her to be herself and rebel against society Van...hence she turned into MonizDinah. I would have Dinah favor Nola and of course, Nola backing D against Van..just ot bug her. Yes! The original goodbye scenes of 85 have Nola relunctantly leaving, and Quint really pressuring her to go. Henry says he will send her his typewriter (God knows many a mash note and letters attached to hush money was typed out on that from Henry to the waiters, bartenders and pool boys at the Lakeland CC.) and Nola says, "Yes, maybe I will write a series of Nola Adventures." So I would have her do it, imaging herself as the flamboyant heroine of each, and she becomes successful. Maybe her latest is a prequel, "Boardinghouse Blues" where the plucky heroine goes up against the town snob who doesnt want her to marry into the family. Van sees Bridget reading it (no one knows it Nola) and says, "I didnt know you read trash like that...its like it was written by a moron!"
  16. I think that we the audience, knew it was Roger, so I was fine with them keeping the mask on for Alex, they just didn't need the weird accent. Amanda had history, they just never really used it, besides having Alex throw out a "They should have kept you locked in that attic," which was funny, but too mean spirited for Alex. Cassie didn't work other then to rebuild Reva's family, and by that time she had enough airtime. I always wished they made Cassie dislike Reva from the start and be the one person in town to tell her to go to hell. I love Nola and the Reardons so I think she was needed, especially with Van marrying her nephew and sharing Peter with Bridget,(and who couldn't love the small bit of sniping between Van and Nola, Van had become St. Van at that time so it was nice to have someone ring her beads) but not in the way they used her...which was, "Oh look, we have Nola back!" The show needed to get away from the Coopers and 5th Street and it needed some levity at that time...Nola should have been the ATWT Lisa, connecting everyone and going from place to place providing exposition as she noses into everyone's business. They also could have used her to intro a new Chelle recast, and have her spend the summer with Nola and coming back and being more rebellious (not the cheerleader boy crazy character they brought back.) She could have clashed with Ed over Chelle, etc. Again, they didn't do any of that as they brought back a dour Nola who hung out at the Boardinghouse bitter about her husband cheating on her. At very least brought her back for a few months to give Van a pain in the ass and call Ed out for his cheating..I don't understand why soaps don't bring back old characters for short arcs like that.
  17. Agreed on you putting Kinkead in with the greats. I never understood why we needed a recast Alex as we had SF's original ice queen already there.
  18. I think Pilon is head and shoulders above Raines..I don't get that people on Facebook GL pages seem to love Raines, but I think if they put a hot turd on their TVs some people would love that hot turd, not that I think Raines is a turd...I think Pilon looked like he could have been the father of the guy playing AM at that time, and he had a least an air of gothic mystery to him, Raines had NO mystery to him..he practically had thought bubbles over his head with "Creating EVIL plan" Off topic on Xanadu..it didn't help the ONJ can only play herself, which could have worked if she only had a leading man who could have sang and dance, and acted.
  19. I'm not talking about that..we have parties all the time and the neighbors (unfortunatley sometimes) drop by unannounced like were a sitcom..I tell my partner "WTF is the Bob and Kim's house or are we the Bauer kitchen" which he looks at me in confusion. I am saying that the last thing you want to do when throwing a big party is take a break from your guests to go up and screw, which is what Rick and Abby did for a 4th. It was supposed to be cute, but all I could think was..."They do know the dishes are piling up..."
  20. It thought that was the BBQ..2001 when Harley and Frank and the first responders came and Buzz made a speach. I thought that was a great one and for once, the Coopers and Buzz did not bug me.
  21. Ha..Long wrote some interesting ones in the early part of her stint, but she was good at community events. I liked the 95 one where Annie came drunk (and again, oddly no one noticed her even though she had to be all over the papers just before this) and flirted with Phillip (which is where that should have gone) and annoyed Reva by scaring those annoying brats she helped raise. I also do like the last one that had a bittersweet tone to it, and actually looked like a party in someone's yard. There was one of the "Ed-less years" where Rick and Abby took time out of the party to screw...obviously no writer ever threw a big family party as that is the LAST thing on your mind when you have 50 people in your house.
  22. Great history, thanks! This works in with the earlier posted scene of the dull Bauer BBQ where Ed says, "I grew up on it" and the last one where Rick says, "Grandma started this." I wish they would have done an Oktoberfest with an odd to their German heritage.
  23. The original Tad Channing was hot if I remember..I never knew why they put Larry Pine in as you could see the first one getting away with manipulating women...Iva looked even more of a sad sack then usual. But Marland (besides his farm boys) never really cast for looks or charima...(anyone who would replace Greg Marx with Scott Holmes does not care about that..)
  24. God I LOVE XANADU..(I guess I can keep my gay card!) Where else can the lead actress be in dance numbers and she just stands there and sways and smiles while everyone else works their ass off, but she wins the audience over just by being..pretty and nice!
  25. I don't know why JFP didn't do that..but she wanted Mo..DEAD..DEAD. Easy enough after their fight, Ed begs her to stay the night at the cabin, he wakes up and hears her care going..he goes after her..she slides off, but the old reliable hitchhiker who dies in a flaming wreck. Also, Mo would have to be in a coma to make that work, she would never let her daughter or the rest of her family (no matter what other writers tried to do..the Reardons of Marland and Long were tight...) believe she was dead.
