Agreed..I liked Ben in terms of him being an a**hole, because there are some people on earth like that..but I thought GL did a good job of showing the other side of him or maybe its just that the show stank with the clone and Alan dreaming of cloning Annie (like there are no other blond women who would jump in bed with a rich guy having a midlife crisis...so you create a psycho who betrayed you, and would, have to go to prison anyway cause everyone would think it was the real Annie..oh I am thinking too deap for Rauch/E.B. shallow GL..) I also always thought the actor was sexy..he just seems more intelligent than most soap actors?? I thought that the Ben/Blake thing was interesting as I am not a Bloss fan and never thought they should have lasted that long, and it showed how damaged Blake really was as a person, and would always be (this was before they turned her into Blake the Flake.) As with all GL at this time, it just happened too fast..why would Blake go crazy over this guy that fast...they needed to let it develop that Ross was working a lot, and she was feeling sexless as a Mom of twins..(of course the Dobsons would probably give Ross some "performance problems" as he dealt with his career, his crazed daughter and still not trusting Blake..which would hav made sense.) I did like Beth with Ben, and thought she was at her most interesting then. And as you say, Phillip being p*ssed that his uncle was screwing his ex wife would have been good, but the writers had poor Phillip so mired in Cooperland that they couldn't add that depth.

You're getting sexier and sexier!!!! LOL...I actually remember this promo (my Mom stopped watching ATWT as the got rid of the vets..or as she called them "the old people" but she saw this and was "Well its about TIME!" ...and Eileen's face..discovering "Ole dead WHIT!" Its true..the look on her face is not..."My husband's lying dead in front of me with his head bashed in" but..."Now I'm going to have to pay a fortune to clean this damn carpet"Edited to agree with Khan..it looks like the dog took a big crap...well, Whit was a big turd!! Also agree on the line readings, what the hell would she be afraid of..your THAT big! I had the hots for the actor at that time...I woulda been like "Quit talking and show me what I should be afraid of!!!" I love how the announcer is "There is MURDER in Oakdale and Lisa's back in the thick of it!" and there is only Whit's shoes making the cut..Just sad that it was a bid deal to have Lisa back and look how Gautman treated her

.I don't remember this at all...I remember Marcy chasing after Kurt but not him returning any feelings...(I actually don't remember much about Kurt but him dating Frannie and supposed to be a "troubled rich boy" that Bob disapproved off, until Jay came to town (Oakdale had the cleanest cut bad boys ever...) LOL on the cracks about Whit' rug!!! I loved when Eileen said she came back and stepped over "dead ole Whit!" to start things off...(I heard they didn't get along...) The show was getting pretty good going into Marland...Bob and Kim moving to each other, the real Lisa back and in the middle of a murder with her own family, (I liked this Lisa better then Marland's ) and Nancy and Chris on their way back. Someone needs to post the courtroom scene of the maid admitting she bonked Whit on his ..wig..Eileen is channeling Joan Crawford and dressing like her and the scenes are campy and fun (soon to get the heave ho with Marland on his way.)

LOL..you reminded me of one of the bright spots in McLaibey, the Alex/Hawk comedy duo. As dumb as it is as Bev/Alex would have kicked him to the curb..the two of them are goofy fun (I remember a scene where she has Hawk investigating something and they are at a train station and as Hawk is trying to break in to a locker some homeless guy is making a move on Alex...and Marj's physical comedy brushing him off while trying to keep quiet is hilarious.) Now I know that Amanda had that family I can totally see why she became Toby/Amanda...a bunch of freaks! Agreed, I love the name Logan Stafford..it is one of those great names that Marland kept having the characters repeat over and over again, first and last, like Carrie Todd...constantly.

I agree on this, and why it would have been important to keep the same actors in the role...We actually saw Bill and Chelle (less than the Bill actor) grow up. Now I kind of understand why they wanted to get an new actors for both..it would have been difficult to write more then they "Aw, shucks are those two together cute" storylines for the characters..I am still in therapy after seeing RM in that Bully, topless, foul mouthed and screwing...(not that GL would have shown that.) But they could have kept the actors and characters in slow burn and aging up naturally and not in a hot love story, Chelle's story could have been handed off to another character like Stacey Chambeline to give the actors and characters time..but in the long run (not a hallmark of soaps) it would have worked out..Miner was a really good actress in other shows, and the Bill actor grew up to be kind of sexy (I know, when I saw him on the Locher thing I felt weird thinking Little Bill was cute and not in the "Aw shucks look at that cute kid" way.) I think keeping Miner was important to the audience as we all went through the "Death of Mo" thing with the character and the actress. Writing in Nola coming in and trying to be a replacement for Mo, in her weird Nola way, destined to fail..and being what Ed considered a "bad influence" on Chelle would have provided a bit of story without throwing Chelle into a "twu wuv" storyline and certainly avoiding the next actress panting over everything in pants, which we called "SlutChelle"!

They came to Erickson and told him they had a story, but he told them he was leaving. J. was a wasted character, he was a Chamberlin, his father had money, his grandfather, his aunt, they should have had some alley cat making the moves to trap him and have Nola confronted with..herself (that would have saved her from the horrible Buzz story..what were these writers thinking, the show could write itself if they got out of the way.) The Santos family and the stupid fairy princes were supposed to be short term story. But I think Rauch or someone got sick of trying to write for the real GL and created this crap..(especially the island, it was so 80s OLTL...)

ALL: Spooky soap episodes/SLs for Halloween
Yea, I call bs on it being real...Marlena as the unpossessed, unbrain controlled killer of beloved characters? Alice murdered (I realize Alice being a victim was thrown in when they pulled..whatever it was out of their asses.) And yes, the explanation...made no sense at all!!!

ALL: Spooky soap episodes/SLs for Halloween
The Salem Stalker was, as we all know, dumb and made no sense, but the first "murder" of Abe was well done...everyone was waitiing for him at the church, the bridesmaids were wandering around the courtyard waiting for him, while the bells were ringing ominously. Also the Halloween episode where Maggie was "killed" and the messages that were sent of dancing skeleton with "Death never takes a holiday."

I remember that a soap mag commented this scene that they were obviously burning off people's guarantees by stuffing them in the room, (and really, why would half of these people care and even if its a family member, you don't hang over their bed while they are saying vows.) This was the time to write both Buzz and Jenna out happy...as they were soon going to punish Fiona by firing her and killing off Jenna, and the annoying Selena to try to scream over Deas in their scenes together. From here on it Buzz is just there (and really more tolerable I have to say.)

Yes! People on soaps go into suspended animation when they leave...(we used to make fun of the way on GL Marland would send a character, including Holly, off to Europe, like they are on the moon) Mike Bauer could have married and had kids off camera, having a new set of Bauers to come to town. Hope just, disappeared...what if she had married and had kids also. I do remember that they had hinted that Joan/Alex would have a past with..Ed off camera..I can't imagine Joan having to overcome the sourpuss face, but the thought makes me laugh.

I loved the way Billy called Roger, "Ole Roj" and since he was the first character Nola interacted with on the show, that would be great..(they could have had her breaking into his penthouse and having to hide as he tries to seduce Amanda and Nola makes faces and comments on his style.) We couldn't have nice things as Rauch saw Nola as some bitter hag pining after her husband and living in a Boarding House, the writers had no imagination and really didn't know the characters and ...welll, they were busy thinking of new stupid plots and scenes for Reva..

Ha..I will take older Melrose Place King over Ponytail Keating!!! ( I just remembered isn't there a Will and Grace where Jack goes on a date with King's character, (and of course, Karen THINKS the guys is actually Jack's dad so there is a lot of jokes on "Oh DADDY!") ...They should have begged Mart to come back. It was not like they were going to show Ed as some hot active stud...and he and MG had a good chemistry, he looked like he could be MOL's dad and he had a warm dad vibe that could have filled in the Mo..warm center part.

I know everyone hated the Stalker Storyline, but I think that would have been a great moment to really have Holly define her character and decide that she is NOT going to be the victim anymore (and not a stalker) and after therapy...(off screen of course, sorry Marland) she doffs the suit dresses and walks around more stylish and edgy with her leather coats, (okay I think MG was sexy in her leather) and goes back to that Holly that Pam Long wrote..more ballsy and not worried what people think. I could see that Holly getting with Alan, and Alan vibing on a "bad" girl, only one age appropriate for once. An Alan/Holly/Ed triangle would be interesting, but it would have to be someone other then sourpuss Simon.

Hmmm. Dietrich Lindsey on the DL....played by someone like Perry King (hubahuba) soaps first gay meglamaniac! ("So Dietrich, just WHAT do you propose I do to pay up that blackmail?") What I don't get is with Holly's money, she is fired at the station, lives in Revabend...MG actually lit a fire under RR in that one scene they had (not counting the hilarious scene when Alan calls her to tell her about the clone, and she is drunk and tells him to go f*ck himself and his b.s.) so it would have been nice to see Holly buy her way into the Spaulding factory of evil.

That would have been great....hell, I would have written RR off as Alan and brought Dietrich on, plus, we could have avoided Fletcher and Holly! Good idea...The could have used Nola and Billy in the search for Vanessa instead of Dinah and &&&& (I LOVE this) Nola and Billy know Van better and have the instincts to get to the bottom. Nola, instead of making her the cynical druge not think Van was alive, could have instictively thought so and shared that with Billy. Billy should have been the one to find her and try to bring her back..but also let her decide if and when she wants to do so. Van would get him to lie to Nola, cause of her big mouth, and the two of them could have scenes together talking about their past, etc. And how great would it be if &&&& to see that Billy found her and she trusts him more. Maybe he would go back to turning tricks by the docks! I also wanted a scene where Nola cock blocks Matt and Dinah.. and have a Dinah/Nola argument..."Dinah, with all of my issues with your mother, even at her worst she had more class in her finger then you have in your whole body. Being a slut is all well and good, but chasing after your step father is trailer trash behavior!"

I love the chemistry between Zimmer and Clarke...so I can cut it slack. I loved it best when Billy had her number (while still wanting to f*ck her) but I chalk it up to finding out they had a kid(well Billy finding out) and time passing. Say what you will about Zimmer, she has some great "buddy" chemistry with actors, which is a shame that Rauch turned her into a soccer mom/middle aged temptress so man could not get a hard over. That Christmas was the weird transition period where they were still falling McTavish's outlines and Rauch had yet to exert his...uh..taste on the show. They were bringing people back willynilly for the anniversary and Jordan was one of them (Fiona was supposed to be a few episodes) but it was all so messy and convoluted. They brought Dylan back before the holiday I think so he never had a scene with his dad returned from jail. I thought it would have been interesting instead of the dreaded diner, he got a job at Company and he and Nola started a thing...(how was Brown and Clarke's chemistry...they didn't have many scenes on her first run, besides Billy catching Van's arm when she is acting like she wants to stab her with a hair pin) to get ready for the return of Van...his real love, giving a good run to another Van/Nola conflict and leaving boring Matt to sit it out.
