  1. LOL!..."What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?" Im surprised McTavish would have loved that and you know Maeve and Lisa would have gotten into it!
  2. I love your backstory!!! You KNOW Nadine Feeney (I am making that name up but she reminds me of my friends Irish mom straight out of Ireland who thought it was very American to be "flashy" like Nadine...) was smoking in the girls room and broke bad on those "mean Reardons....I mean they act like they are saints, but are trash..their mom takes in strangers to live with them, cause their dad ran off with, I heard Mary Beth McCarthy..you know, she's a dancer over there at the Pink Fox Lounge..yes,THAT place..can you believe it??" So agree, Nadine was an Irish girl dying her hair and being swept off her feet with the little weird greek guy who parents hated!
  3. The Now Voyager one was partly in response to Bette Davis being a GL fan and particularly a Lisa Brown fan...I think she wrote in..."You got IT!" to Brown. I am glad they dropped the Nola fantasies as only Marland did them well. The one where she is dancing with Buzz...WTF??? An occasional one done correctly, with the mentioned above "The Women," one would be good. I just wanted one of Nola writing her life novel and imagining various people in it (no we dont' need to go into the bad Phillip writes a book storyline.) Simply a scene of her imagining her and Van's younger selves..just to get Van in that big hair, shoulder pads and hat phase again..being a cold b*tch!) Yes, everything went wrong and Nola had to " save the day." Matt's suit was missing, Van's dress blew out of Bill's car, Nola had to trick Alex into agreeing to let them use the Spaulding conservatory, (actually a dumb but funny scene when she got Hawk to drop a lawsuit on Alex by tripping him and he dumped something on her expensive clothes so she was going to sue him in return..Bev Alex would have froze Hawk by sight but MarjAlex and Hawk where funny) Bad part, it led to Jay Hammer trying to be funny as he shared a room with Roger and had the shits.) It was kind of weird as Nola was against Van and Matt (yes Nola) so they should have had a scene where she finally gives in. I never liked Nadine but they ruined her by stranding her on 5th Street and mooning over Buzz. Someone mentioned it but it is weird that the Reardons and the Coopers didn't know each other at all. You would think people on 5th street would know the BH and 7th street people would stop in at the Meals on Wheels. Nadine and Mo were supposed to be close in age.
  4. You mean he didnt want to have scenes where his romantic rival was an angel??? ; ) That was the original idea, that the Angel would be looking out for Lucy and then Hearst decided to leave, right?
  5. That would have been smart for Amanda to hire Blake at Spaulding again to drive a wedge between her and Ross. All I remember Blake doing at that time was hanging out at Company and the diner. I also think that if they had given Hearst a storyline instead of mooning over Lucy he might have stayed. Giving his ambition back and making him more like Alan would a wedge between he and the Lucy just like what happened between he and his parents.
  6. Agreed, he would make a perfect Alan Spaudling at this age. Its too bad he was wasted on Lucy Cooper and they couldnt give him shades of of grey in his character at that time.
  7. Yes, but I don't think they ever really interacted. There is a scene at Company where Nola is trying to get Alex to let Van use the Spaudling green house for the wedding, and Elenit and Nadine tallk something about if anyone can talk their way into something its Nola, (like they some who interacted but we never saw it). Missed op as Nola and Nadine could have been a soap opera AbFab, scheming and getting into trouble.
  8. I disagree to a point. I think Bridget could have grown into the role..she was young but she was taking care of a kid and really two businesses, and she had a warmth and toughness for the role. I think Bridget always wanted what Mo provided and what her grandmother had done, a stable family life amid turmoil. Nola had her years out in the world, and she didnt really want to leave Springfield originally. I would have her be angry at Quint for the years that she had to live in tents away from the safety net of her family. They could have written it that they were on a dig in a remote hell hole when Mo died and Nola didn't find out until they came back to civilization. So it's really Nola that had an affair out of anger, and Quint being Quint would tell Henry and Van that he was the one who did it to save Nola embarrassment. She would be a writer and she finally gets a book deal (I would make it a meta tell all "Boardinghouse Blues" on SF as Nola of course the heroine...Morgan would be the bad girl, her prince's sister woudl be a royal bitch as Van was then and a certain woman had the habit of screwing everyman in one family and jumps in fountains.) and comes to SF to promote it. She actually like having a home base and family around her, so she stays and becomes a Mrs. Madrigal (well, without the surprise) to the young people coming in and out. I think Bridgets practical and harder edge outlook would contrast with Nola's still starry eyed outlook of telling people to run for their dreams. Of course, I would have gone with your idea of bringing in Lana Reardon and having her be one of Alan's millionth lost loves. I like the version of her being a hippy, protestor free love kind of gal (the free love part itself would curl Bea's rosary beads) and she could be the earth mother of Springfield.
  9. His face is totally pulled back..really dumb as he is not that old and he is a good looking guy who would have matured well. But once a soap opera twunk, its hard to give up so always one I guess but..but he looks weird. Speaking of work, Irizzary never seems to age and if he had work, it's damn good.
  10. Especially since they could havce done a storyline where Matt wanted to have a kid, but Van didn't (does any woman on a soap every not have baby fever no matter their age) and then Ross wants to have another kid and Blake doesn't. Matt knocks her up and Ross is thrilled that he gets a to raise a kid himself so that adds to Blake lying, etc.
  11. Never understood that either..the BH was a place to introduce new younger characters to the show and audience and Irish Mom Bea would have been perfect (though during the Holly/Ed thing I wanted Mo to move out and take over the BH and tell purse lipped Ed to stuff it.) I do wish they had brought Meta back earlier (someone mentioned brining in MS right after Search ended) and she could have taken over the BH as a favor to Mo while her Mom was apparently endlessly baby sitting Tony and Annabelles kid. I am a fan of Svengoolie and he just did an interview with "horror icons" Joe Dante and Barbara Crampton and she looks GREAT. And yes, Kyle makes more sense then Alan to prop Reva...but the role did not hinge on Malloy (who I never found interesting since the early days of his Edge run) they could have recast him and at that time, Kimmer really did have chemistry with a lot of guys.
  12. I know that actors have egos but really, you can't expect to be the "winner" all the time, your an actor, play it. The actor was a very complicated person, and I always felt he just made Kyle seem..unpleasant, he was always going to loose no matter what.
  13. I was surprised that GL was in cancel territory when Laibson came on board. I do know that it was under SERIOUS consideration in the Summer of 96 when the ratings dropped below AW. Rauch was brought in to save it but the real reason GL limped on is that the Bell soap never saw the light of day. I do like that the writers asked why TPTB let JFP run havoc over GL. But also why McLaiby kept the focus on Buzz and the Coopers for so long leading into the terrible "Save 5th Street" storyline with Deas waving his arms and yelling day in and day out. Why not just get writers in to make GL..GL again instead of going for a costly new production which will be a shot in the dark. GL was a brand name..so fix it. One wise things that JFP did was to refuse to bring back Reva on a permanent basis. But Kim got her fans in a frenzy and I can see why McLaiby would bring her back and have Brent/Marion...as one soap columnist said, "To bang the drum loudly."
  14. That was unfortunately never played during Rauch, who cast her as a soccer mom louder Kim Hughes. This was done to make Annie EVIL, but those kids should have been more attached to Annie, and wondering why they can't see her and why everyone gets weird when Reva and Annie are together. I never liked that sacchraney sweet Marah as she was all MommieAnnie one day and then screeching when Annie approached her. Now if she was a manipulative little witch playing both sides I could get into it. As they got older I thought both kids should be annoyed and embarrassed by Reva and always go to their dad. Kim actually COULD play subtex and the at should have been her enduring sadness that she could not connect to those twoas she would like(which is being the center of attention at all times.)
  15. LOL..okay the only Cooper I liked in the last 20 years was Aubrey Dollar's Marina..after that they made the character a sweet little Mary Sue but the whole family became a Mary Sue. But yea, I did not like Lucy and her quacking voice! Frank was boring but he was a familiar boring! Except when they tried and Frankie D tried his hardest to make Frank a tough smart authority figure cope. Frank was a big dumb sweet guy who should have been tending the diner.
  16. Ha...Lucy and **** were perfect for each other, as they are both the dullest part of their families! Alex is off camera so Van is back at Spaulding while all this is going on and Matt and Lucy whine about their successful driven spouses. Oh, and Ross is working at Spaulding too so Van and Ross....plus, too nutty fan bases (LAM did have one) being incensed would make me so happy! Siblings fighting for what they think is best would be interesting without anyone being the "big bad" AM is pushing for technology and Phillip wants to absorb Lewis or something. AM is ALWAYS going to feel like the lesser to Phillip, and Phillip may resent that AM has a lot of Alan's traits... We have to agree to disagree about Amanda..I found KM dull as dishwater and loved Poser..I know the Madame backstory was all wrong, and she was too young, but with good writing it could overcome that.
  17. I agree, and you have the whole, raised a Spaulding, and one who was not but is a bio one ..AM came back as a teenager, so I would think Hope raised him more Bauers tryish..and he rose to the challenge of being in the Spaulding Thunderdome..loving each other but alway, was trying to dominate, with Amanda taking AM's side (mostly, but not if they interfered with her one self interest) and Alex taking Phillips. Besides Amanda and Alex (and I would tone down the animosity there) everyone loves one another but...they are Spauldings. This interfamily warefare would split AM and Lucy just like it did AM's parents..but for a twist it would be Lucy who would find "solace" with someone else first. Yes there was so rootability in Alan.
  18. That's funny as that is a line from BevAlex, she wanted Phillip, non bio but raised a Spaulding to run the company with Lujack, bio but not raised one. I think a silbing fight over the company would be great with Hearst really being able to hold his own with Phillip. Throw in Amanda as the wild card and it woudl be a refreshing spin..(though Amanda might use Roger, and screw him once in a while, she would not be manipulated by him.)
  19. That would have been great! Van steps in and takes over from an obviously deranged Alan, a depowered Alex, (that drug dealer storyline...our Alex???) and "dead" Phillip. Spaulding would already be in chaos with Alex's arrest, the drugs, and Phillips death, that Van could come in and snatch it our from under them.."It may be named Spaulding, but my father created this company as well, so I am taking it back.") When Kreizman wasnt jacking off over TP/Jonathon he was doing it to BE/Harley..so he made her pres, and the show became a farce.
  20. Oh would the Mattessa's FREAK out! I think with Alex gone it would have been time for Van to step into the Spaulding matriarch role..especailly since she and Amanda were never friends. I get that they need Alan/Annie together so someone could fund her schemes and get her ass out of the psych ward. But I would have had Alan start to get really sick of the psycho Albatros around his neck (its fun to screw over Jeva, but not when it effects his bottom line) and if Van was working at Spaulding, Alan would love her business side and her steadiness and fitness in society (all of Alan's society friends woudl have dropped him if he was dragging Annie to events) and Annie would then see her meal ticket slipping away. I would love crazy Annie to threaten ice queen Vanessa "Dear, I am NOT Reva, so you can take your historonics elsewhere, I have a meeting with a client, you can show yourself out."
  21. I really liked Reva when she was working at the hospital, and then at the Journal and she was buddies with Fletch (the only time I found him tolerable) and interacting with people outside the Lewis family and it wasnt just about her great love..though of course we had Kyle mooning over her. She just was more well rounded and seemed to tone it down with others (which reminds me of a scene she had with PS when he came back..Zimmer is trying her usual tricks but Simon doesn't rise to her usual overacting and she brings it back to down to meet him and its quite good.) A facet of the Annie story could have been Reva trying to find her place again..in her family, with her kids (they wrote them WAY too normal) and I would have the kids leaning towards Annie. And I would do a story (which Kim would not tolerate) of Reva dealing with being an aging woman...you really can blame Kimmer for her on camera OTT and her fanning her fans fire..soaps don't treat anyone over 40 well and while Kim was very attractive still she was not sex on a stick Reva from 1984. When Maeve returned after Van's death, I had wanted an Alan (with a new actor) Van pairing. Knocking ***t out of the ring, Alan is turned on by this elegant woman who does not take his crap and is more then a match when she wants to be ruthless (I would have tossed sighing in love Van out the window when she returned.) They were considering older actresses, but I think they felt that there were so many on the canvas that age already they went with younger which did not work. I love Poser as well and wish she had been brought back as Victoria's daughter, though realize having a white woman play a mixed race character might not go over well...(was Victoria's husband white as well?)
  22. Agreed...they reunited them, had the Annie drama, it ends and they leave town, happy (or as happy as those two could be.) The natural story progression for those two. But no...the Zimmer fans needed more of her, to the detriment of the show. I do wonder if Reva would be viable if they killed Josh off, and for good. She was at her most tolerable when RN left the show.
  23. Yes...its not as if she was his stepmom for long..they shipped him off someplace, and a one nights stand makes Holly guilty, but Ben keeps pursuing her (my rugby mates would see me watching GL and were all hot for MG/Holly, so she could get it from younger guys.) and then Holly, actually getting into it and finding her sexuality and loving it (better then Liv/Holly..sorry, with all respect to MG, I can't see Holly as a lesbian.) I'd love to see Blake shocked and appalled at her Mom's sexual hijinks for once and Holly to tell her to get over it.
  24. Poor Ann Hamilton, an example of JFP taking out on the character (by hiring a bad recast) because she was pissed at the actor. Rozel as Eleni was not as bad as the actress was beautiful and gave "nice" off but was bland and Eleni was underwritten and only Melina gave the characters a zip.. Englund and Simms had great sibling chem...they really did seem like older sister/young brother. A dyanamic totally laost after she left. Those Boardinghouse room sets were never consistent and never looked like they belonged in the same house (though not as bad as Nola/Stalker period when they had her living in room with a galley kitchenette.) That terrace room was left over from the Kobe period..it was the room Beth lived in after she left home to get away from Bradley. I lo love when they are consistent with sets.
  25. I love what soaps think of being a "cad" is dating a lot (I will ignore the "take Marah's virginity thing as that was just...nasty on the writers part") but other characters who do the same are seen as romantic alpha males(nasty Jeffery who was a male Petri dish..I always wanted GL to be the first soap to explore a STD break out with Jeffery at the center,,,but it would have those weird Cole hausfrau fans screaming "Giving me chlamydia Jeffery") If I looked like Ben/Boomer, I woulda screwed my way through that whole town (leaving each person happier then when I met them) Not that it was past Conwest but Boomer/Garret together would have been hot and Holly needed some younger man time to get out of her "Im sorry I was a stalker" phase.
