Amazing.- Neighbours: Discussion Thread
According to a report via Digital Spy, because of the current model, there will be no holiday break.- Y&R: ATWT alum joins
All I can think of is Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries 2 yelling "Shut up!" haha.- ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
This is where I wholeheartedly disagree ⏤ I found the change riveting, needed and made The Young and the Restless much-watch, especially after it had been dragging its feet for such a while. It shook up the canvas, and it was a shakeup American daytime needed.- ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
Due to the high definition, but, I feel like at least during his tenure, we got some of the richness that had been stripped from previous regimes. I know Cooper was furious when Marge was killed off, and she infamously said: "Well, I actually, if I had actually had the liberty, I would have killed off the writers." Would not surprise me, because she is not a Bell in any sense of the name. My guess? It was more-so to do with removing Bell and those associated with him to allow more control, from the higher-ups, rather than the creatives and hiring Lynn Marie Latham allowed them to do that at the end of the day. 2006 interview with Kay Alden:- Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
Realistically, they don't. But there's a middle ground somewhere within there. But, at the same time, the creatives need to have the capacity to plan an A to Z storyline within swerving or changing things as time goes on. Nothing is planned out, and that is the problem.- ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
Rauch really should have been sole executive.- Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
Let's be real: if this had been more paced-out, people would b*tch and moan it was "dragging on" and taking "too long" to wrap up.- ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
I just remember the disdain Jeanne Cooper had for the writing under Arena's tenure. Arena, I do believe, had some good intentions but she really just... was not made for the role(s) she played.- B&B November 2023 Discussion Thread
Honestly? What should have happened is when Ronn Moss left in 2012, that should have opened the door to begin paving the way for the next generation of Forrester / Logan, ie: Hope, Rick, Steffy, Thomas et al. to begin taking the reigns and becoming the new creative driving force in the fashion house ⏤ almost returning to the series' beginnings. And then, with Jacqueline MacInnes Wood's 2013 and 2015 return (with 2014 visits), that also could have opened doors for the next generation to drive force in business-focused stories. Instead, it was toyed and then Ridge returned, and the same s**t was spat out. Hell, even Thorne's return could have provided something worth while. But no... it did not happen.- ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
And I think that's because everyone was either brought in to "fix" what other felt needed to be fixed, or they felt the need to immediately jump in and become William J. Bell, and it all backfired... for the most part. Some did better than others, but the true damage was done by Maria Arena, whose control of the show really just.... felt real wrong. Edward J. Scott departure was announced in December 2001, when David Shaughnessy was named as his successor. I enjoyed Shaughnessy's vision of The Young and the Restless a lot, honestly. But, even in announcing Scott's exit, press reported he and Kay Alden were frequently "at odds" over the show's direction, so it appears either he chose to exit at the end of his contract, or it was chosen not to be renewed for him, in favour of Alden remaining. Even Christopher Douglas' exit as Sean was credited to the odds between Alden & Scott, and not necessarily with him as a talent. 2001 was interesting, casting-wise. The biggest? Melody Thomas Scott reportedly cleaned out her dressing room before it was announced she was in fact not leaving... a sense of tension and alliance with her husband, who was around that time speculated to have been mulling a departure for film production? Possibly.... who knows.- YR Promo for this week

Imagine a day where ratings drop = automatic change! The horror! The nerve!- ALL: What about Bill Bell's writing made his stories and shows the top standard?
Well, Kay Alden wrote as sole head writer following Bell's exit in 1998, up until 2000, when John F. Smith & Jerry Birn and later Trent Jones came in.- Y&R: ATWT alum joins
Once again, Josh Griffith's inability to maintain consistency and continuity is appalling. William J. Bell must surely be rolling in his grave.- Y&R: ATWT alum joins
They've definitely become more click-baiting in recent months... and it's working, because it's making me click on articles. 🤣- Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
- ALL: Legacy children who were undervalued or underdeveloped
Guiding Light: Marah Lewis really should have been played more in the mid-2000's, but her existance was definitely backgrounded, due to the arrival of Tom Pelphrey's Jonathan. Kimberly J. Brown's return in 2006 really should have been the start of Marah's permanent return to Springfield, and really becoming the product of her parents; instead, the story was still for Jonathan. And I do believe in 2009, with the voided casting of Martha Madison, that Marah really would have been a character worth having on the canvas. Even Shayne Lewis was undervalued, despite the brilliance of Jeff Branson.- Neighbours: Discussion Thread
There is a supposed holiday break being unofficially spoken about, but I've yet to read anything about it.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
