  1. Nothing's wrong with it, its a fine name. It's not one of those overly used names like Kaitlyn, Madison, Beth or Emma.
  2. I don't think it was short term, they just recast Michelle and moved her away from Jesse Blue. Also, the HWs previously wrote for PAS (danny) on Loving. Also, between the mob and d the Island people, Raunch was clearly molding the show in his own image.
  3. I for one loved that GL kept pumping on-screen babies/new legacy characters. It's just a shame they never SORAS'd Peter Reardon, Jason and Kevin Marler, Jude Bauer, RJ (Roger-Joshua) Jessup, Zach Spaulding or Rocky Cooper. They did SORAS James Spaulding, Clarissa Marler and Maureen Reardon II near the end. IIRC, several actresses on GL and ATWT had pregnancies during that decade and while GL would usually write them in while ATWT would more likely come up with ridiculous "outs" like the infamous aging spa. I'm looking forward to you getting to the 60th Anniversary festivities towards the end of January '97!
  4. There was a story reason,it was to bring Luke back to Noah, but TPTB should've changed course when Luke/Reid hit it off with viewers. Goutman was just stubborn, he was the same way when AW ended and said something to the effect that the show was about the here and now and not the past. The shame is ATWT had nine months lead time to do fan service and GL did much more in the third of that time.
  5. Remember the Butterball Turkey Hotline plugs around Thanksgiving?
  6. The Roger scenes at this time are pretty sad now in hindsight as his speech starts slurring at that time as his (not-yet-diagnosed) ALS progresses.
  7. The only good thing about.the clone storyline was Joie Lenz as teen clone Reva (Cleva). I thought RN turned in some good scenes as he was reliving his teen years again seeing reva as a teen again. In hindsight it was totally grooming and came off as gross. I was not a fan of B&E as headwriters.
  8. For years there was speculation or rumors that he was going to be revealed to be alive or that someone else killed him. A way to get Michelle and Drew off the hook.
  9. Holly's final big story was the Sebastian mess in late 2004. Vanessa and Matt were promoted to regulars near the end and were heavily recurring prior to that starting around 2007/2008.
  10. BC played Jeffrey O'Neill, her last husband- the ninth. Yes, April Fools Day 2009 is a date that will live in infamy for GL fans but I feel we all kinda expected it at that point. The soap press reported that GA's return as Phillip was basically the show's final chance at getting the ratings up. A Hail Mary if you will. It didn't extend the show's life but it was fantastic to see Phillip back in SF where he belonged.
  11. Speaking of slaps, there's the infamous Ed slapping daughter Michelle during the Maryanne Carruthers mess in 2003.
  12. I remember it was reported at the time that the character of Noah was originally planned for Harley but plans changed. Beth should've shared her experience as well.
  13. I think I'm leaning towards Team Xander. Phillip screwed him over, tried to cheat him out of his birthright, was he just supposed to roll over and take it? He trusted him and Sarah. Ridiculous!
  14. Lynda Hirsch on Pittsburgh 2Day, 1987 Discussing the end of Capitol, Guiding Light and the writing turmoil is talked about near the end. 6:00: "Alan Spaulding was supposed to have a daughter return, they got rid of that."
  15. Dina was Jack, Ashley and Tracy's mom on Y&R. Joanna was Lauren Fenmore's mother, played by Susan Seaworth-Hayes.
  16. In a 1997 SOD article, Ehlers mentions that she was asked to return several times, but was surprised she wasn't asked to return for her "mother's" funeral. This was when she returned for the 60th Anniversary event. They were a really popular pairing for a few years ago. As an older viewer, it seemed strange seeing Beth as the odd one out, but 1998 Beth was a totally different character. She was written as a manipulative, vixen.
  17. DS was at GL at the wrong time. The writers would go crazy with May-December type romances later on.
  18. Speaking of danfling, let's debate/discuss serial vs. soap opera. Anyone agree that soap operas are a NYC thing and the rest are serials? The NYC serials always had a unique feel to them. The acting was different, the look and feel was less slick. Plus you had all of the theater people on the East Coast shows bringing a generally higher quality of acting. Soaps are serials but not all serials are soaps. Especially since most all non-procedural dramas are serialized these days, would we call all of them soap operas?
  19. I never liked him either, even as Adrian on Y&R.
  20. Remember the random date Josh had with Lucy? That was an interesting Chem test.
  21. Absolutely not. Josh briefly had a budding relationship with AuPair Harley. He couldn't move on from Reva, left town in '91 after "seeing" Reva in a WSPR travel video of Italy. IIRC, Him and the kids along with Hawk and sarah relocated to Italy and off the show.
  22. They should bring on Jack too, especially since RJ was a bust.
  23. KKL always had better chemistry with JW and DD, but they insist on Ridge/Brooke endgame regardless.
  24. Names can always be changed. 😆 Remember when Michelle's original name was Berta, named after grandma Bert. Danny Santos was named Denny during his first few weeks. Zack Spaulding was originally named after Alan, this was after Alan had a heart attack. Nola's daughter Anastasia was originally named Kelly when se was trying to pass her off as Kelly Nelson's daughter.
  25. I never saw a side-by-side comparison, as I've only seen pics of JFP a couple of times. I wonder if there is an actual resemblance between the two or everyone just hated JFP so much that they WANTED to see a connection. I know how brash soap fans can be against people and decisions they disagree with.
