  1. Yeah, it used to be a lot more rigid. Especially when actors used to age more visibly. With all the advances in plastic surgery and skin care and general overall healthcare you have actors who don't fit the "elder" roles they're in. And a lot more veteran actors are sticking around, these casts are stacked with actors who have been around for 30-40 years. And I don't think that was the case in the 80s and 90s. The (waining) audience has shown that you can't just stop writing for them to write for their kids. At least in the ways soaps used in the 90s and early 2000s, where anyone over 40, especially women, got shafted and shunted off into the background graveyard.
  2. Lord. It's hokey and stupid but this virus story is very watchable. And I love how it's effecting the whole canvas. Also the score is SO GOOD, it's almost like they put thought into having the music match the actions in the scene! No lukewarm drippy music playing in the last 10 seconds of every episode.
  3. WAS Valentin scary when he first arrived? Did they try to make him threatening and realized Stuart couldn't pull it off so he's this sad elfin boy constantly on the verge of tears?
  4. I didn't realize she was part of Days revolving door of talent. They probably will kill her off, get 3 months of story and then she'll return as her twin brother Gabriel with Gabi coming back from the dead 2 weeks later.
  5. She gets it and Tracy gets it. Most everyone else plays everything so damn earnestly, it's exhausting. Whereas Tracy is like: Donnell is quietly plotting how to turn Curtis and Laura's Greenland Adventure (that's what he calls it in his journal) into a romance.
  6. No one ever returns to this show for an exciting in-story reason.
  7. So dumb. This is very cool. General Hospital, the last soap produced like an actual television program.
  8. I think Donnell is actively sabotaging the pairing by only showing disdain or indifference to Portia. I see Brook Kerr working overtime and him giving NOTHING. Another portion is the writing, where is the longing this newly married couple should have for each other? They’ve been married for nearly 3 months and have barely interacted. Portia needs a new love interest, Curtis needs to just leave. I will give the show props for showing how Trina’s disappearance is affected Portia. They’ve spent several episodes dealing with how difficult this is for her which I found surprising. Valentin looks like a magical woodland creature. Like an elf that revolted against Santa. Today’s show was a perfect example of the show stretching out what could have been ONE scene into five and breaking it apart to fill the episode. It took 40 minutes into the episode for Robert to convince Liz to not check on Anna. It was exhaustive, repetitive dialogue was honestly a waste of time and a waste of both actors talents. You’re telling me former spy Robert Scorpio couldn’t come with a good lie on the spot? Bffr. Sonny is an arms dealer and Michael is only mad about it now because of Nina. This is stupid writing. Sonny would have to personally murder Carly or one of his kids before Michael would go to these lengths to hurt him. I ain’t buying it! And I hate both of them!
  9. Brook Lynn’s presence in most of those episodes was extremely supporting. I can only think of 2 where she did anything of substance. Funny how that can work toward your episode count. Speaking of, Sonny hasn’t done anything significant all year yet there he is at number one. They said Maurice is going to EARN that paycheck.
  10. That’s great to hear. This is my first introduction to Holly and I like her. Her remorse for deceiving her friends seems genuine and was for a good reason. Not to mention Emma Samms looks like she’s been frozen in time since 1992 and not in a bad way. Diane said it the other day, in regards to Holly’s lack of burn scars, who is her plastic surgeon? She looks phenomenal.
  11. She’s still so young, only 32. Get out while still in your prime and able to play younger.
  12. Will he, like Lil Nas x and Jimmie Walker, also be working at a restaurant?
  13. This HUGE Greenland set...where the hell does GH find the money? You have Days using awful greenscreen for a pivotal reunion and GH is splurging on an enormous snow covered set.
  14. That was so bizarre. And to give marble mouth Kelly Monoca a large chunk of dialogue is baffling. Speaking of Kristina, I meant to mention that her ass in that dress was the highlight of the episode*. And I am very very gay. *sorry Tracy, you're an extremely close second.
  15. The babies who play Ace (can someone give this boy a real name) and Amelia are adorable. I'd make Aiden have heavy hints of Luke in him, he'd be similar to a young Lucky just without Luke's influence. He's rash and a quick thinker always trying to pull one over on someone. I don't care if he's gay or bi or anything in-between but he will exasperate Liz on daily basis. Jake? Idk I don't have time for that zombie child. He'd be there I guess, somberly looking at Jason's leather jacket. I wouldn't kill Avery or Donna but they would stay LITTLE for a long åss time. I'm with @carolineg in that I don't want Ava to lose another child. Because I love Maura and I don't think Ava as a character could survive Avery dying. The only story you could get from that is Ava losing her fücking mind and terrorizing the town before eventually being put down. What's crazy about GH's current crop of is that they've mostly been allowed to age in real time. Back in the day shows were ANTSY for an appropriate time to age-up a kid. Like I'm pretty sure Days was frothing at the mouth to age up Belle as soon as she was born. Which is how we got 16 year old Belle 6 years after she was born. On GH now you wouldn't even have to try, they have so many kids on the cusp of maturity. Jake is 16 years old IN REAL TIME. No, literally he turns 16 in a week. When the show had less baby rabies he would have already been established as a much bigger supporting player to set him up for a teen romance. Re: Lily's kids on Y&R, don't even get me started. They could be college graduates by, when is Lily supposed to have had them? At 10? They botched that so bad that they shouldn't bring them back until Christel Khalil is 50. That way you can play them as the amorphous age soaps love: of 22-39.
  16. Tracy was the saving grace of that fücking slog of an episode. If I have to hear another person tell Michael and/or Willow how amazing and brave they are I'm going to kms.
  17. We thought Nelle was Carly's retribution for the hell she caused when she came to town but NOPE it was Hurricane Willow all along.
  18. See what you can do is make the cult backstory part of her impetus to lie. Perhaps she's missing the attention being a cult victim brought her. Maybe when she found out she was pregnant she became jealous jealous of the baby and concocted the whole thing so Michael would continue to dote on her. Maybe she considered Munchausen by Proxy with Wiley but wasn't quite that far gone. I'm begging for this story to become interesting. Lmao, you're so right, Luke just barely gave a shît about Carly much less her kid. Wow. You just don't want me to shine.
  19. As I told @Vee post-OnlyFans, I would immediately become Team f*cking Willow. That would the twist of a lifetime and it would cause so much fallout. And it would be infinitely more interesting than Nina having Carly arrested at the wedding (I assume that's what's going to happen? Idk I don't care). It's a shame that we've seen doctors we know and I assume trust treat her. Reveal she's blackmailing Terry! The TJ and Willow affair was real! Now that the seed has been planted I can't let go of the idea. Did anyone else think "Oh fück off" when Bobbie told Willow that Luke would have liked her. In what world? Willow is the type of goody two-shoes nothing of a character Luke would have forgotten about two seconds after meeting them.
  20. Willow has been on the brink of death for 6 straight months. It's really stupid that they ramped up her cancer that much and have had weekly "she might only have days!" chats. Your audience should not be shouting this ⬇️ to the cancer patient, the young mother of two children under 5. The problem is the only difference between on death's door Willow and Willow today is some eyeliner. She's looked like a Hollywood starlet dying of consumption in a movie from the 50s. Maybe that's what they were going for! Who knows!
  21. It's all a McGuffin. Just like babies on soaps until they're pre-teens. It's different when they discuss actual products but I'm not even sure what ELQ does. I have a question, where are the Quartermaines from? I know Alan was first to arrive and as the show likes to remind us he bought the mansion for Monica so it's not their ancestral home. Where was their home base before moving to Port Charles? Reading about Mary Mae a few weeks back it read like they had to jump through a few hoops to explain why Edward would have a history with someone in town long before he arrived.
  22. I think the only soap to do business stories well is Y&R (in the past). I've never gotten the sense that ELQ was that important outside of being something to bicker over.
  23. This notification gave me a heartache, "Did I say something disparaging about sickly malcontent Eric Braeden?!" I mean, I have, when he was much younger and not ill. I hope he has a swift recovery.
  24. Fire Cameron Mathison. He's just playing himself at this point. Drew and Curtis, the duo no one asked for. DT couldn't look less invested in this material and CM always sounds like he's talking to someone who is learning English as a second language. Friday's scenes between Spencer and Trina really ramped up their chemistry, the actors look more comfortable being affectionate with each other. The freedom both characters have to just be a couple is nice and they get to kiss a lot, my fears of modern day segregation have subsided. Laura in her parka on her way to Greenland to save her grandkids is exactly what I want to see. Laura as THE tentpole character is so affirming to me. Replace Maxie (I agree she needs an extended break but if we're only doing 5...) with Finn and I'm all for it.
