  1. I was just going to say that. We have seen it a few times now. I'm assuming it's a separate detached living space like a pool house/guesthouse out back. From what has been mentioned vaguely, that kitchen door that people love walking into Dani's house from is located in her backyard...which I guess isn't all that weird since I know many people due to garages or other scenarios don't necessarily enter from the front door. I actually assumed Andre walked to the backyard as he usually does and noticed the guesthouse light was on and walked in expecting Dani to be there. The Ashley and Derek story is so stupid it is nearly insulting. These two adults are so juvenile in their relationship that the scenes are actually painful to watch. It makes me dislike Andre more and more each time. Also, I am confused about Martin's secret. I assumed that Martin knew what it was and that he was keeping it secret because it was so awful it could ruin him and his family. Now suddenly it seems that he doesn't actually know what his dream is about but he is keeping it a secret because his grandparents are telling him it is in his own best interest. The second scenario created a bunch of holes for me. If Martin was having weird dreams why wouldn't he confide in Smitty, his partner who he sees everyday? How did this bypass his partner and parents (although the parents part is more believable because we hardly see Martin interact with them) to get to his grandparents quick enough for them to scare him into keeping quiet, especially since he doesn't even know what he's dreaming about. Honestly, the character is the worst. The writing is doing her no favors. Andre loves blowing smoke up her cheeks that she is the greatest thing ever, but then she's spiraling like a manic 14-year-old that her boyfriend is going to break up with her because of something so minor when her and her grown ass man don't even communicate to one another. Yet, they parade their issues to everyone with ears. I'm like Andre that's the woman you want? Then go ahead, baby. Take her and go photograph in the Maldives and go far, far away.
  2. It's too much! Madison has potential as a character. I enjoy what the actress has shown so far in her limited scenes. But I must say that Madison playing off Chelsea and especially the way she was acting was giving a grown adult talking to a teenager.
  3. Yes...I was like what the hell is she doing. Finding every moment to talk to her too while she's at work. It was just super desperate.
  4. While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob. As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
  5. I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
  6. I remembered this as well, so I was surprised that Tomas didn't seem to know what Eva was talking about. I would be happy for them to go their separate ways and get help for their own addictions.
  7. The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea. As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap. Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama. Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.
  8. I hate to say it, but same. I gave the recast a chance, but I don't love the change his acting style has brought to the character. I agree that Maurice needed to develop his craft, especially with the delivery of the more emotional stuff, but he didn't need to be recast. NuTed feels like a punk and too soft.
  9. Personally, I'm not feeling a Kat/Jacob pairing. To start, Jacob doesn't need to be with another goody 2 shoes, his character can do dull all by himself. While Kat does have a bit more sass than her cousin Naomi, she is still very polished and play by the rules. Now, Eva and Jacob, I can get on board with. Only another reason for Kat to hate Eva. Eva can also bring out another side of Jacob. Second reason I'm not feeling it is that the Bill and Ted already cheated on their wives...do we need Kat stealing her cousin's man too. While great drama, I don't want anymore Duprees in some cheating scandal or dating family members...at least not yet.
  10. New episode on Memorial Day. I wonder if it will happen again on the 4th of July. Maybe there's a Canadian national holiday coming up soon where they will preempt BTG so that it lines up with the US again. I don't know if Canadian TV is similar to the US in that regard. I need the Articulettes to align sonically with Labelle, just because I need this group to have their own group hit a la Lady Marmalade and I need Anita to be up there giving us some New Attitude. Not that I think we will actually get some music, but I would live for this.
  11. Hold on...Hayley is supposed to be only 3 years older than Chelsea??? This show stay messing with me and these ages.
  12. I agree with a lot of what has been mentioned before me. I think BTG desperately needs another family. Character ages still throw me. There have been several times where I still think Martin is Vernon and Anita's child and then a character says something and I'm like oh right. It doesn't help that he hardly socializes with his parents or Kat. I do not care about the secondary characters... Ashley, Derek, Vanessa, Doug, Pamela, Joey, Jan, Mona, the gym dude can all go and I wouldn't care. The exception being Shanice. There is a decent hospital set and police station set but most characters have other jobs. They could have easily had characters interact at work and make it seem organic. Instead they had Derek showing up at someone's work let alone a police officer to talk about his quarrel with Ashley. Also, falling into the trap of having stories that soaps no longer have the budget for. That fashion show was tragic and so was the award gala. The potential trial between Naomi and Bill being dropped was probably due to lack of a courtroom set. However, how soapy would it have been if Bill had a heart attack at the trial and Naomi feeling guilty. It would have also been a way to easily redeem the character of Bill to Naomi but also Dani and Chelsea who would face what losing him would ultimately mean.
  13. However, let me say this and I don't think it applies in the case of MM and BC. Straight actors shouldn't accept a role if they are unwilling to play intimate scenes that are often required in daytime. Imagine a gay actor accepting a straight role and saying they won't do any intimate scenes or have very limited intimacy with an opposite sex co-star. It wouldn't happen though, because the stigma works one way. I think the limited intimacy has more to do with trepidation of how soap viewers will take it. The average soap viewer is older and more conservative and soaps aren't exactly drawing in younger eyes, so storylines have tended to lean more safe in the 21st Century especially in terms of sex and sexuality with a few exceptions. On that note, I have finally caught up this week. I am loving the Anita stuff that is brewing and I'm glad TT is finally getting some meaty story to work on and not just be a mouthpiece to move others' stories along or play narrator. NuTed is not sitting well with me. I am having a hard time understanding the casting change, because the new actor isn't exactly hitting it out of the park and he makes the other characters play and feel different with how he plays opposite them. I'm going to give it time, but there was something more endearing about Ted #1 inspite of some of his acting shortcomings. I am obsessed with Wig. Our girl is really crazy and I'm not sure they're going to be able to keep her on for long without turning her into a caricature or making the show a big joke, but for now mammaaaa (*Eva's voice*) is providing the dramatics. I've said this before, but I'm super impressed by how far the actress playing Naomi has come. I wonder what she's been doing, because she's gotten so comfortable and the acting has vastly improved. I have a feeling that Bill is going to say something about Martin being zesty and Chelsea is going to be there to overhear. I thought it was interesting that she didn't feel comfortable telling her father and the convo between Dani and Chels hinted that maybe he might be a little more old school in thinking.
  14. I have some catching up to do, so I'll come back with more later, but I am watching yesterday's episode... Andre/Derek/Ashely have not sat well with me since day 1, and I can't believe I'm going to say this...but if two had to go, I would pick Ashley and Andre. I cringed at Andre blowing smoke up Ashley's ass and making it seem like she couldn't possibly have done anything wrong to drive Derek away and that if he was in Derek's place, he would never walk out on Ashley because Ashley is just so flawless 🤢 Like whhhhaatttt? The girl is sitting there with a mountain of tissues crying over a basic argument that she could easily pick up the phone and end. Sean Freeman's acting choices bother me a bit...they have from the beginning which makes me dislike the character even more. I don't get Andre's obsession with an overgrown "Miss Perfect" like Ashley. Ashley reminds me of the good girl that grew up super sheltered and tried to do well at everything and wanted everything to be a certain way. She's bland. Mama is as spicy as warm milk yet Andre is all over that. Then he's always exhaling that last word and scrunching up his nose and pouting his lips in his Mr. Rogers sweaters and it just makes me mad.
  15. Ashley's whole reaction has been embarrassing. To the point, I don't understand how Andre isn't completely put off by this behavior. But then again, Andre was out here breaking down with Ashley about this whole situation. *Screams into a pillow* It's so embarrassing! Derek gives off dumb jock vibes. He seems so unaware and confused by everything. Like how at your big age don't you think scrubbing something like stainless steel with a scouring pad is a bad idea? And why would you think to ask a married buddy to sleep on his couch. Both this characters are insufferable. Andre right up there with them, but I think that's more a me thing.
  16. Ashley and Derek have to be some of the lamest 30-somethings around. How does Derek, a grown man, think it's reasonable to crash on his married friend's couch? You're too old for this. Ashley claims to be Type A, but she's missing work for a minor fight? Also, the acting has been rough the past two days...and Andre out here with the flaring nostrils having a whole emotional moment because Jen is out here being dramatic. Andre you're crying like you're the one fighting with Derek. I like this man less and less. These three stay PMO. I'm excited for this Articulette reunion. This girls better be carrying some bones about Anita and Vernon. Not Tomas being mad at Kat because she's on track to figure out who ran down Laura. Tomas straight threw Kat under the bus too. He's playing both sides and wants the cake and to eat it too. Not to say, Kat hasn't been relentless about Eva, but she wasn't wrong to be suspicious and now with Leslie's manipulative lies why wouldn't Kat be suspicious.
  17. Definitely. It's not bad at all, but yesterday was just an anomaly considering we haven't had an episode that bad before.
  18. Yes, to all of it. You really brought up many of the points I thought of during the episode and forgot in my own post. The photo should have been Eva and Ted together. The calling off work was really stupid for a fight over some scratches that didn't even end in some ultimatum fight. If anything that's when you do go go work to get your mind off of it. It was just really stupid. And great point about the cleaning products and lack of product placement. Huge missed opportunity. Cady needs to let that accent go. It's cringe. Overall, it was a bad episode and I haven't felt this strongly about an episode yet.
  19. This episode was not it! Derek really cleaned a stainless steel fridge with a scouring pad? Is this grown ass man an idiot? You can't tell me he wouldnt realize this is a bad idea considering he just talked about taking good care of his car. I'm sure he'd know not to take a scouring pad to the exterior of his car and why. Ashley's annoyance was fine, but she took it to an extreme that was unnecessary and made her even more annoying and intolerable. Derek even went out of his way to offer to replace it and then made the effort to buff out the scratches. She really is unlikable...also, where did yall say you've seen her before and that she was good...because today's performance was giving mid. "I'm a boy scout...I follow every lead..." Excuse me, Jacob. Why couldn't he just say he's thorough. It was an odd thing to say. Even figuratively, I wouldn't think of using that term in this instance. Diego, a model? I'm sorry, but let's be reasonable here. Another weird moment was Tomas guilting Kat for choosing to put her half-sister in jail over dinner with him. We can all agree that Kat was gunning for Eva since day one and doing too much, but the girl actually thinks and has incriminating audio that Eva may have tried to kill someone and boy is being a pick me. I can't. There was another really strange moment early on that I completely just blanked on. I think this has been my least favorite episode since the premiere. The good: Pamela and Dani showing off their friendship was cute. As much as I hate that casino, their moments together were nice.
  20. It's quite confusing what she's doing with her character. I'm not from the DMV, but what is that accent? Is she pulling a Dorit? Also, why are Dani and Pamela acting like they're broke. They don't have any money aside to start up a business? With their background in the modeling world, why would they even need a physical studio? They have connections (and Dani wasn't afraid to mention it when she was tasked to replace Chelsea in the fashion show when Chels pulled out). They can literally use Dani's small catwalk in her house to test potential models. They can easily scout online using social media. It's 2025! Dani is supposedly a recognized model from her day, then have her act like it. I know some people are saying it's a stretch, but in the 90s there were plenty of models that graced covers and runways with the likes of Naomi and Christie that were never as big, but they still rubbed elbows had successful careers. Dani could easily fall into that category. Also, it's not like a lot of the big name 80s and 90s models didn't go on to live very typical lives after their moment faded...why couldn't Dani be that.
  21. Yes! I'm not at your point of not rooting for the Duprees, but they really need to tone down the self-righteousness. Some of the things coming out of these ladies' mouths is out of pocket considering all the skeletons in their own family's closet.
  22. Finally caught up. I was really torn by Friday's episode. Naomi and Jacob were way too invested on who performed this surgery on June being she's someone they barely know. Also, this is a hospital in the DMV, a densely populated area with well-staffed hospitals. There's only one qualified doctor in all of the DMV? Oh no, not that doctor! Only Dr. McBride will do? It was strange. Can we stop making the Casino a meeting point. First, Eva and Mona crossing paths and now Dani/Pamela/Doug/Joey. These folks don't seem like they just hit up the casino on a random Tuesday. Especially, one that is supposed to be some shady, seedy backroom. They need to end this casino stuff and repurpose that set. Ted and Dana read sooooo differently this episode. Why was Ted out here inviting this woman that just blew up his life, clearly is unhinged, and took 50k to a birthday dinner???? Did I miss something? His reaction towards Dana also did not seem angry or in disgust like the previous Ted. It didn't feel right. Whatever Bill was doing with his eyes when at OG's with Smitty. The Good: Anita getting some story is great. Love to have her doing more. Leslie is wild. She really just had Eva to hold onto Ted-ddy. Calling her daughter a whole souvenir and not giving 2 about her birthday. Although, I'm wondering if Eva's real birthday is actually earlier and that's why Dana/Lesile is so nonchalant about this date. She gave Eva a cupcake some time back and I'm wondering if that's to tie to this idea that Kat and Eva are twins. Smitty is growing on me. He's got something to do. I didn't love some bigger things in this episode, but there were some small things that really were so nice to see. Loved seeing Dani calling Doug over to join them. It really gave off this feeling that they know each other well and it was a bit playful like you would do with a friend. Similarly, I liked how Kat and Naomi and Jacob played off each other. "I was actually asking my hubsand." It gave off authentic family banter vibes.
  23. I didn't get to finish the episode last night. It's been a week and I was not able to keep my eyes open. I will say that I understand everyone's comments on the new Ted. I think more so than anything is the shock. Where else in modern TV do you get an actor to replace another from one day to the next without a break or some storyline to explain it. However, it's such a soap staple that I can't help but love it when I heard "The role of...is now being played by..." I think the actor is good. I felt like Kat felt different playing against him. I wonder if it was nerves or just maybe this actor bringing something difgerent out of Colby. I do think Maurice's acting range showed itself to be weak when he got these more emotionally charged scenes to play. I actually clocked him as one of the weaker actors from Day 1, but he definitely wasn't the worst and I didn't think he needed to be replaced. However, I'm open to new Ted. Maybe Maurice can come back as Andre's daddy back from the "dead." Ashley is really becoming unlikable with her attitude towards living with Derek. Although, she should have shut him down the minute he imposed the idea on her. Also, if I'm living with someone and I have a guest coming over soon which I forgot to mention to that person than they are more than welcome to stay. Especially, if that person is someone we both know. They'll just be made aware that next time I'm going to need them to leave for a few while when I have time with a friend. It was so rude the way she approached it, which makes it even more confusing as to why all the characters around her put her on a pedestal and Andre is obsessed. I honestly don't see any chemistry between Andre and Ashley. Andre gets on my nerves. I'm sorry yall, but I can't with that man. He always gotta let out a huff in that last syllable when he's saying something emotional. It's like okay now Big Bad Wolf. Also, what is the appeal of Ashley? She's boring. The character is bland. I do feel for the Ashley and Derek actors because what are they even doing there...taking up space.
  24. I haven't watched today's episode yet, but maybe that was the point. Maybe they're trying to move Ted in a more unlikable/villain direction and it wouldn't work with the previous actor. Or maybe it's just that transition phase which will take some getting used to.
  25. I think the three comments pretty much summarize my thoughts. The green is not pleasant. I think I know where they were going with it, but it doesn't translate on screen. The bar at Uptown is actually pretty good. It's my favorite part. I totally get it having an East Coast vibe. I used to frequent a place like it and while I wouldn't necessarily call it pretty...it was a bit Kitsch but it had a vibe. This place is lacking the vibe. I know it's not easy to hire extras, but even having a karaoke night in the background or live music would change the whole feel. Vernon and Anita having breakfast there was a great idea. Another place besides the country club where they could talk. However, why were they using country club china at an establishment like Uptown. It just seems a bit confused. I don't understand what it's supposed to be.
