  1. Also, where has Dani worn this dress before? I recognize it, because the first time she had it on I was like why is my girl wearing party streamers. Then when I saw it yesterday, I was a little surprised that they were having Dani who pulls out 4 episodes in a single episode repeat a outfit so soon.
  2. I do think Claybon has improved, but I still don't think he's anywhere near good. It may be his tone, which makes things come across as if he's narrating rather than dialoguing. I didn't even think his scene with Ted was very good although some seemed to disagree. As for Maurice, I can only speak for myself. I mentioned Maurice as one of the weak actors along with the actors that play Chelsea, Naomi, and Martin from day one. That for me hasn't changed. I warmed to Maurice, because I thought he was improving in the good dad/husband stuff he was doing. I still don't want the actor to be replaced, which I have mentioned before as well. However, today confirmed what I said all those weeks ago that he's not the most skilled actors on the cast. He really struggled to get the emotion in those scenes today.
  3. So, I finally watched and I will have to agree with everyone that TMG and Ambyr are stars. This episode reminded me why I thought Maurice Johnson was a poor actor in the beginning. He does well with the light, fun and loving dad/husband stuff but today he brought his scene partners down through his failure to tune into the emotion the scenes needed. I also didn't enjoy Claybon's scenes. He's improved for sure, but yikes it's rough having him play these intense scenes like he's narrating a science documentary. Another thing I will say and I'm not sure whether this is good or bad (yet), is that I didn't know who to emotionally connect with. Many times I didn't feel anything at all or a connection with the character's emotions. I feel like the Duprees are the "good guys" that have villainous ways and the villains actually have a lot of layers to them. I didn't even feel sad for Nicole, but today didn't seem to be about Nicole. I actually didn't know what to feel about anyone. I think the only time I felt strongly was when Ted pretty much dismissed his own daughter (Eva) to go after his wife. Granted he's not completely sure that Eva is his daughter, but the way he pushed her away again in that moment was rough.
  4. Not the community penis. Providing his service pro bono...I can't with his thirsty a**. Any chance that the OG Ted can come back as his brother back from the dead who died in the plane crash. It would give Andre family, too.
  5. I thought I was the only one. They do nothing for me. I enjoy Dani which seems to be an unpopular opinion here, but Andre to me is as unnecessary as Ashley and Derek. Not only should Vanessa, Nicole's bestie, and her husband have been there but where are Naomi and her man?
  6. As much as I have hyped the looks on this show, those dresses did not impress today. Since the premeire, there's only been one look that I can truly say IMO didn't work (and it honestly wasn't even that bad). It was an outfit Dani wore. These flowly wide leg trousers and it was paired with a loose top with a cowl neck. However, I didn't LOVE a single dress on any of the ladies today. Kat's was great only because it suits the character and her personality - so an A for that. It's a good dress. Dana's was also really nice. Everyone else either just was meh, had something unflattering about the fit, or didn't really fit the vibe. Also, this isn't BTG's fault. It's just the state of soap operas today, but that event felt empty. Tables of 3 😁 I mean it was nice that they had some extras on there, but it definitely didn't feel like an event when the family was pretty much ever table there. That was a nice end to the episode and I wonder how this is going to unfold.
  7. The demos for the final especially have been really strong, so definitely generates more ad dollars than a regular soap episode.
  8. It was nice watching live last week, but back to catching up later in the day for me. Derek expecting Ashely to sell something she clearly said was important to her to free up space and make some money was weird - especially when he's bringing that ugly chair into that tiny space. His whole behavior around this move is off putting but also seems so random and out of characters (although it's not like we know much). Anita possibly wanting Dani and Naomi to join her on this tour? What??? How's that make sense. Glad the convo veered towards Anita wanting to fix things with the Articulettes. Would be great to have some characters to interact with Anita and see what mess may have lead to the group's demise. Lord, the actors that play Martin and Chelsea still have a lot of growing to do. They've come a long way, but it's less noticeable when they are paired with a stronger actor. Their scene together was coming across as a Discovering Yourself after school special/Health class video about sexuality. PFLAG definitely had that video series on talking to your kids about sexual identity. It's just so sterile. Eva and Leslie are just pure gold. There were so many great lines and delivery today. It was such a fine watch. Only thing I didn't love was the absurdity of Leslie's interaction with Martin and Vernon...it was a bit much. I wanted a bit more sinister and yes over the top, but it gave crazy instead. Hopefully, they'll tease that Martin dream a little more clearly to have us build speculation and excitement. So, it seems the only ones that know are Vernon, Anita, and Bill.
  9. I felt like there could be something more there, especially the way she speaks about him vs. Eva. Eva says he was a good guy, but not a good father. Leslie has not been so kind.
  10. And Little Orphan Eva 🤣 That was funny. We're seeing little glimpses of Eva trying to talk herself out of her own lies to Leslie, but you can tell Leslie knows the game room well. She's a master manipulator and liar.
  11. The tension between Eva and Dana was good.
  12. Can we get a black bestie on the show. I would love to see that relationship played out, because it's not one we regularly see on a soap. Kat and Chels have each other, but they're technically family. And the rest of the Dupree ladies have a white bestie. Although, now that I think of it Hayley was Naomi's bestie and we all know how she did her. Anyway, I would love a non-family member to be brought in to play bestie to one of the Duprees.
  13. My apologies if I offended you. As a gay man myself, I didn't mean to come across offensive. I meant that Martin is strait-laced and seems to play things very safe in his life bevause of his position. Even his relationship seems to follow very heterosexual conventions. It gives heteronormativity for the sake of keeping up an image for the voters. We know Martin is concerned about how he is perceived.
  14. I think with DAYS, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, they tape scenes based on sets that are currently up. So scenes can be taped really out of sequence, because they have so much material available. This saves on taking down and putting up sets. At least, these is what I've read. I don't know exactly how all that behind the scenes stuff works. I actually thought their scenes was cute today...for the first time. Omg!!!!
  15. Wow, really? Only two weeks in advance. I didn't know that. I wonder if that would work today as it might not be as cost effective.
  16. I see what you're saying. I do remember that and the "noodling" (both Naomi and Anita used the word, which I thought was interesting since I haven't heard that in a long time. Sounded uppity and fitting for their stature.) I just didn't feel like her feeling nostalgic called for a whole karaoke night, but I understand your perspective. Yep. What we are seeing now and any changes wouldn't have anything to do with audience/viewer feedback. I do wonder if they always planned to film this far in advance (which isn't uncommon for soaps) since the original premiere was sometime in January.
  17. I was confused as to why Anita needed some cheering up. I know that Naomi used Dani as a ploy to get Anita to gather the family at Uptown and to get her to come out, but what was the motive? She told Dani that Anita needed to be cheered up, pretty much what she told Anita about Dani. Was this just a way for the show to push this karaoke night to get Anita's singing storyline to the forefront? Felt like an odd way to do it, because I'm not sure if Anita was really feeling all that down. Definitely. I think the episodes we get this summer will already have some changes based on feedback as well as just working out some kinks in the background. Then by fall, I would assume we would have a much smoother show. I may have expected a lot since these were all big names in the soap world trying to get this project off the ground. However, it wouldn't be realistic to expect that there would be a perfect product from the jump. There are many things that need work, but tomorrow marks 2 months since the premiere so it's early days especially in a soap timeline.
  18. Just giving some sass about your "straight" remark. Although, they have Martin playing straight in every way except the fact he goes to bed with a man. His personality, his role in his marriage, how he goes about those relationship dynamics. Dani needs to take her and the gays to a gay bar one night...or in soap world...Uptown has a drag night.
  19. A little random, but it just came to me. Ted has more of a father/son relationship with Andre than with his own son. I mean when I think about it even Nicole has more of a connection with Andre than Martin. Part of it is because storyline has dictated that Andre have more scenes with Ted and Nicole, but it still feels off. They really need to have Martin interact with his parents a little more. During yesterday's episode, I got a little confused when Martin walked into Uptown and greeted Dani as Aunt Dani...I was like sister?...oh wait, right that's his aunt. Doesn't help that the the actors that play Dani and Martin are only like 7 years apart. Also, Martin tends to rely heavily on his grandparents for advice. They also seem more invested in whatever he's hiding. Do we know if Ted and Nicole know what this secret might be?
  20. Seeing you all mention positive outside perspectives and the show performing well, what is it that we know about the shows performance through the network's eyes? One thing I was curious about before the show premiered was how its success would be measured. Obviously with anything money is usually the bottom line and that would mean outperforming its previous time slot holder to start, which as far as I'm aware it is. Also, I doubt many people who didn't watch The Talk live were streaming later on in the day unless there was someone on that day they really wanted to see. So in that respect, BTG has the advantage in that people are more likely to stream it. The big difference between The Talk and BTG is cost of production. I can't imagine BTG is cheap to produce even though they've taken some measures to ensure its a bit more cost effective like shooting in a market that isn't typical for soap opera production. I mostly stream BTG on Paramount+. I show hasn't really been on their Top Shows list and personally I don't think they did much to promote it on the platform. If you watch CBS/CBS Daytime you would know about it, but if you were exclusive to the platform there wasn't much push on there. I actually saw an ad on Peacock, which was interesting.
  21. Thank you. I like this Ted, but let's see what happens.
  22. It's catchy. Not what I was expecting them to have Anita sing - not because of her age on the show, but because they keep talking about this group The Articulettes which sounds reminiscent of 60s era Motown girl groups. However, this sounds a little like Pebbles Girlfriend...def has the NJS vibe.
  23. The actor who plays Ted seems super positive about the show on Twitter and keeps posting really cute things. Do we know why there's going to be a change or what exactly happened?
  24. Very much how I feel. I'm not critical, because I want this project to fail. I'm just expressing what I see as I would with any other soap. I have watched every single day and I am giving BTG its kudos as well. Mayebe some of us went in with expectations and maybe some of those were too high. However I'm not going to Kandi Koat what's not good or keep some delulu vision of the show.
