  1. I'm so bored with this casino storyline. I didn't even care for that cliffhanger and the previews for next week seemed dull. I hope they deliver something big for sweeps. It's also strange how a Dupree always talks up the Dupree thing like Kat at Uptown hinting at a Dupree always coming out on top or getting their way. There needs to be more balance...another family. Everyone on the canvas is either a Dupree or an extension of the family -married into, grandchild, friend of. Aside from Joey, Doug, and Shanice everyone knows a Dupree or has a relationship with one.
  2. 😂 I will say that this week's episode of Nicole and Anita having full discourse over Febreeze and how Kat wouldn't have it any other way was bordering on too much. Much rather they keep it simple, like Nicole spraying some Febreeze and Anita walks in and expresses how nice it smells and they move on.
  3. ATWT was also big on the product placement around that time. I still remember a storyline around 2004 when Dusty had taken Lucy to a hideout which was a warehouse filled with P&G products. It made me laugh and I still think of that from time to time. I don't mind the product placements as long as they're done organically. Don't zoom into a bottle of Dawn at the sink. Wow, I agree with all your points aside from the last two about Ted and the Duprees. I think the Duprees are a bit more nuanced than we may believe. Vernon fought through the Civil Rights movement, he beat the system to make a legacy for himself and his family, so he's not going to easily have that stripped away. While Anita and Vernon may be too quick to fix their kids' problems, they know there are ramifications for those things in their gated community. It's all about the image you can present to the outside not what's really hidden inside.
  4. Gorgeous. So if they're filming episode 100 today, it would mean filming is about 3 months ahead. Episode 100 should air sometime in mid-July if there's no major preemptions.
  5. Three characters I wouldn't care if they were completely off the canvas. They do nothing for me. I don't even care for Dani and Andre much, I rather she be causing mess somewhere else.
  6. This is completely random, but was anyone else perplexed by how much Kat was playing with Samantha's hair when they were backstage talking to Smitty and Martin? It would have been fine if it was quick, but it was so distracting that I couldn't help by fix my eyes on it and all the way thinking girl put her hair down.
  7. Agree with everything you said. That purse was surprising! Not in a good way. It didn't seem youthful or innovative at all. It looked like a handbag Chelsea or Kat's mom took to prom in the 80s. Unfortunately with tight budgets, these big events always take you out of the fantasy. For a charity event, there was no one there. No guests mingling, no staff serving drinks. one dress on display for auction but no other items to bid on in sight. I totally get this is pretty much standard for daytime if not much worse, so I'm not faulting BTG but it just sucks because there's so much potential here. At first I didn't notice the actress playing Samantha was much older than her character, but getting to see more of her today made that more obvious.
  8. As already's been mentioned, one thing I can't fault BTG on since its start is the styling. The fashion is on point and it puts a show like B&B which revolves around the fashion industry to shame (but I've felt this way about Bold for a long time.) Even characters like Eva and Dana which are not wealthy like the Duprees have their own aesthetic that suits them so well.
  9. Can we give Anita a friend or frenemy or rival...like something so that she can interact with others outside of her family. Maybe one of the Articulettes who she had a falling out with can come to town with a secret.
  10. Elevator Girl: Excuse me can I please talk to you for a minute? Ashley: Uh huh sure, you know you look kinda familiar Elevator Girl: Yeah you do to, but I just wanted to know do you know somebody named? You know his name. Ashley: Oh yeah definitely I know his name Elevator Girl: Well I just want to let you that he's mine Ashley: Huh no, no he's mine
  11. I don't know why I laugh everytime someone brings this up. I honestly didn't notice the photos when he gave her the collage, but now when I read comments like this all I think is "let me woo you girl by giving you photos where you look like [!@#$%^&*]." Reminds me of something that would happen in those parody movies. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I'm not really feeling Andre. Sure, physically he's attractive, but everything else for me makes him off putting. Like he's this womanizer type, but somehow drawn to Ashley who is in a relationship and the biggest wet blanket on the cast. If Andre was only into Ashley because it was a game for him to get with someone in a relationship then I would roll with it, but the way they're writing her and the lack of on screen chem between the actors, it just reads really awkward. He also seems a bit dull.
  12. I've noticed those P&G prooduct placements lately. Ashley holding that Tide bottle so you can see that label just right. 😆
  13. There will always be extremes. We have those fans that are so blinded or hopeful that they won't say a thing is wrong until it just gets too awful to ignore and then there are those that wanted this project to flop from the moment they heard of it. Personally, there are a few things that I haven't particularly enjoyed or understood about BTG. It started off okay. I was one of the main critics about the premiere not having a bigger moment or cliffhanger to draw people in. We were just introduced to these characters, and while I understand that most episodes of a soap are slow and building up to a bigger moment, this wasn't just a regular Tuesday episode of your favorite soap. It was a premiere and you wanted to leave people wanting to come back. I would be curious to see the daily numbers for the first week and whether or not eyes tapered off as the week went on or if it held steady. I felt these past two weeks haven't been the best. It's taken me much longer to get to the episodes than the first couple of weeks where I was watching daily. For some positives, I think the actresses that play Naomi and Chelsea have already shown so much improvement from the first week. I actually like the young cast. Kat and Eva are so good in their own way. Not going to go on too much about what a non factor Ashley is, because we've all gone in on that poor girl. I will say that Andre's fascination with her has made me find him even less interesting and imo he can go as well. I am still hopeful for this soap, but I'm not going to pretend that things haven't gone wrong either. I hope something big happens during May Sweeps to finally put this soap into action, because the momentum is just way off.
  14. I mean why not do modeling in her 40s? There's never been a time where modeling has been more inclusive. She doesn't need to do runways in Paris and Milan, but she's gorgeous and can do a lot of commercial work like print ads. I'm not saying that's the direction I want the character to go in, but it's definitely not out of the question. Way more plausible them some of the other stuff they seem to be pushing on us.
  15. Can we end this casino storyline. It's boring, I don't like it, the set is horrible, and I really don't care. I'm not even sure what the point is... was it a way to add Lindstrom ro the canvas? They literally had no one in there while Joey and the bouncer guy chatted and then they had one dealer and an extra playing with the Dr guy. I don't even know their names, it's how little I care.
  16. He's not one of the original Articulettes like his grand, but he sure do love to enunciate.
  17. Today marks a month since BTG premiered. Still wish they started with more of a bang and slow burned until May Sweeps, but I'm excited to see what's to come. Did we ever get any numbers from two weeks ago?
  18. Since we're starting a new week of BTG, I'm curious as to how most of you are consuming the soap. Are you watching live, recording and playing back later, or streaming? Also, are you watching daily or binging? My plan was to watch the premiere live and maybe daily for the first week, but I expected to be binging on the weekends. However, so far I've been streaming daily once I get home from work. I do wish Paramount would drop the episodes earlier in the day.
  19. This! Her family says one thing, but then act in a way that contrasts what they say. They never truly hold her accountable, but instead try to protect her or make excuses. I'm all for families trying to protect their own, but you also need to call your loved ones out on their BS and hold them accountable. Dani coming out during Nicole's interview when she was clearly told to stay away should have made her family livid. Yet, they gave her a pass because she was able to speak so well (which she did). Is this some younger child dynamic playing out. I wonder what Nicole and Dani's relationship was like growing up. I totally feel like Dani should be angry that this man pretty much took such pivotal years of her life and stripped her of her career and dreams. However, a gun at a wedding is already a really, really bad mistake to follow that up with breaking into someone's home...where exactly are they taking this character if not towards some mental breakdown.
  20. I grew up and live in a city that is 65 percent Hispanic and I'm also a bilingual teacher with a degree in ESL and language development. And while I can agree that it isn't completely uncommon that a native Spanish speaker might drop a Spanish word in an English conversation, it's definitely not how it's presented on TV for these characters. It's obvious that it's done for effect and to show that the character is Latino/a, but it reads very inorganic and awkward. This code switching in conversation is definitely more common among bilingual speakers to each other, but to non-Spanish speakers, the language of conversation tends to remain consistent. Again, it's my opinion, but it's reading very awkward and cringe for me....and it's not solely a BTG thing.
  21. Friday's episode was a weird one for me. -Tomas throwing in a random Spanish word here and there is cringe. Why do they write Hispanic characters this way? It's cliche and awkward. Have him speak on the phone with subtitles or interact with another Spanish speaking character if that was so necessary, but the amor, muchísimo, etc when just thrown in there to be thrown in there is giving Ricky Ricardo vibes. -Derek/Ashley/Andre. Wow, this is painful. There is nothing remotely interesting about Ashley. We don't even have the full backstory between Ashley and Andre, but their romance is just not believable. I like whoever said that watching Derek and Ashley scenes feels like watching a different show. -Haley and Bill scenes actually made me uncomfortable. There was just a weird uncomfortability about it to me. I don't know if it was the writing that was bad or Haley's acting that seemed off today or maybe a bit of both.
  22. Haha...I thought of that when writing my comment as well. It's just a lot to think Martin might be in his late 20s, already an established congressman, and believes he has enough pull to secure candidacy. On top of that his mother is already a grandma to two high school aged children even though she looks like she can be their mother. And while all these things can be true and possible, it's just a lot of stretching of the imagination because the ages just don't seem to align well for most of the characters IMO.
  23. Ok, thank you. Maybe that's why I thought he was in his late 20s. Either way, it's still confusing that Martin's ambitions are to run for President right now. He's probably been a congressman for a short time especially if he is only in his late 20s.
  24. How old is Nicole supposed to be? Watching today's episode confused me a bit. So it seems like Martin is gathering funds to potentially run for President which would make him at least 35. I could have sworn he was in his late 20s based on something that was said in an earlier episode, but I may have misunderstood or perhaps I'm just confused. Then, in the award video Nicole mentioned that she and Ted met at an AMA conference, which would mean that both were already in med school at least. So the earliest Nicole could have met Ted was at 22. Then, have a child. Even if this happened right away or by accident, if Martin is 35, that would make Nicole at minimum 57. This is something that has been throwing me off from the beginning with this soap. The "older" cast seem too young to all have the grown children that they do. I know it's a soap and you have to let some things slide, but it would be different if it was one child's age that seemed off, but I feel the age difference between some cast that are parent and child is so jarring. Martin makes more sense as Nicole and Dani's baby brother. I feel like Kat and Chelsea should be Nicole and Dani's eldest children not their youngest and even still I'm not completely sure how old they're supposed to be.
  25. I have to agree. Some of the character ages throw me off. Martin is probably one of the few that I feel should be much older, but then that would have to age Nicole significantly. I believe it was mentioned that Martin was 28, but I feel he would be better suited to be mid 30s. A still young but ambitious character vying for political office. Meanwhile, he's 28 with full grown kids. Doesn't help that he has this old man energy compounded by some stiff acting skills. I'm also not feeling this gay storyline with him wanting to have this heteronormative performative relationship with his partner. I know it's a weird political climate and there are people that are close minded, but his platform wouldn't be for those people anyway. Considering the growing diversity we have seen in Congress with more racial and queer representation, congress members that defy all our expectations of what a congressperson looks like or represents and the fact that his grandfather was a champion for civil rights, it doesn't sit right that Martin wants to play it so safe. It seems antiquated and a storyline that doesn't resonate as well in 2025 albeit still relevant.
