  1. Oh sure, the mighty Dupree are going to rally around Martin and at the end of his press conference they're going to chant Murderers Together. Family Forever. Duprees Strong!
  2. I thought there would be another element that would cause ripples or have other ramifications. I think if they were going the route they did, it would have been better to reveal part of the dream to the audience right away. The part where Martin is beating someone with a lug wrench. It would make us have some sort of doubt about what Martin had done and why, because it comes across as really aggressive. It also would have worked to raise suspicion of Martin, because his behavior has been quite impulsive and abrupt. Finally, we learn that he was just defending himself. I always assumed there was an element of racism since Kenny showed up and would say certain remarks. I will also have to disagree with some of yall and say BC was not that great. He had moments where he was fine and moments where he was not good. Smitty was already in anguish about being lied to and dismissed consistently by Martin. The audience knowing the secret wouldn't change this. The press conference also seems dumb in retrospect, because it led to Martin going home to tell Smitty first like he should. There would have been deeper ramifications had Martin still decided to hold the press conference and reveal everything. He would have to be held accountable in some way, there might even be a trial, Smitty would be further hurt that everyone had to find out before he did. But instead, Martin is now involved in a further murder (although I am still skeptical about Kenny being dead).
  3. That's fair, but then why not play it as the serious story it is instead of making it some big secret to the audience involving most of the men in town including Joey Armstrong. Armstrong's involvement just seems dumb at this point. You have two police officers and Bill why get your hands even dirtier with a mobster? I feel like the reveal was pointless, because to me at least, that is exactly what I was imagining at this point anyway. There was no surprise. As soon as they revealed Martin with a lug wrench I had assumed that he killed the brother and disfigured Kenny. I also knew it would be self defense because Martin is too central of a character. I feel this went on too long for little payoff...but let's see what happens.
  4. Those character interactions wouldn't have been prevented if the secret was revealed to the audience through Martin's dream. Maybe we would have understood why Martin doesn't want to tell his family or maybe even empathize with his course of action a little more. We could have seen Martin struggle with his decision to hold the press conference. However, keeping the secret hidden from the audience this long, has taken the life out of certain scenes. The scene with Kenny and Smitty was so brief and revealed nothing. It could have been so juicy had we known the secret and we saw Kenny taunting Smitty about it. Both men having a real face off. The men gathered at Bill's office as many have mentioned before was pointless. All that to have Martin have a breakdown so nothing else would be shown just to keep the secret under wraps. Now we have had multiple scenes with Smitty and Jacob and Vernon and Bill that don't go anywhere and regurgitate mostly the same thing all for the sake of this secret not being out to the viewer. Ted who knows his son's secret is MIA and being played by Leslie. This would have been a great time to build that father/son relationship we really haven't seen from Martin and Ted. I mean Vernon is pretty much the paternal role in Martin's life. My understanding in the beginning and based on conversations that Martin had was that he wasn't fully aware of his dream or what happened that night. Otherwise, why would he go talk to his mother and say he's been having weird dreams and not sure what they're about. When Nicole told him to seek help, he knew not to because Vernon had just told him he couldn't talk to anyone about it. He had conversations with Vernon that implied he didn't know what happened. When he first confronted Kenny, he wasn't sure what the whole "What color is your money?" thing was about. I think it would have been interesting around now...maybe a week or two ago, Martin would have at least had the realization of what this dream was all about. The secret wouldn't need to come out to everyone, but it would have kept some momentum going. Right now, we are in this weird limbo of reveal and nothing really moving for the sake of keeping the secret still secret. It was a little ridiculous for all these men to get Kenny where they wanted him to then botch the plan and have Kenny parade all over town like he didn't have a hit on him. It's fine that Randy didn't go through with it...but is Joey a criminal or is he cosplaying as one? You mean to tell me Big Bad Joey has never had someone offed and that Randy, his right hand, has never had to do something this questionable? There is where sometimes I feel the creators are too close to their characters. Maybe someone didn't want to make Randy an intentional murderer, but at least make Kenny's escape something more believable. I know there aren't many sets, but this could have been done in a more interesting way.
  5. Not telling his family first so they aren't completely blindsided by the shock this will cause, no crisis management team, and not seeking legal advice (thankfully Bill offered), Martin is just a full on mess. Mostly due to Vernon who has forced him to keep this a secret for so long and clearly Martin isn't coping well, but to not secure your family, your career, and yourself before holding this press conference is just dumb. I guess we know why Ty and Samantha seem to have no sense either. I'm glad you pointed that out about June's stay. Since when are busy and expensive hospitals just holding onto patients as acts of charity? I am still holding onto hope that there is something more to this secret otheriwse yikes. I am fine with stories and reveals taking their time, but the way the played this story, it should have been revealed to the audience already or it needed to play out differently. This circling the airport and never landing is tedious.
  6. When I found out Joey was involved, I assumed that it may have been something to do with sex work. One of Joey's escorts gone bad and Joey himself wanted to keep it under wraps. If not, it seems messy getting Joey involved when he doesn't need to be. I enjoyed it and I'm not the biggest Vanessa fan. Considering that Ted knows Martin's secret, it is such a missed opportunity to not have him supporting his son through this. We heard about Bill and Ted having these excellent adventures as the outsiders of the Duprees in their marriage - what have been amazing to have them team up and show us this dynamic while supporting Martin. Would give both Bill and Ted some humanity and layers.
  7. Considering it was self defense it might be viewed differently under the law. Now hiding it and paying people off might not be looked at so kindly. However, there are people in politics who have done much worse and they have no issues.
  8. But hadn't he mentioned to Vernon not fully knowing what his dream was about?
  9. I am going to be honest, but respectfully, this whole secret seems to be building up to be a let down. I will take some blame for it, because when it was stated that a showrunner said no one has been able to guess the secret so far on social media, I made it out to be something more complex and layered. I assumed early on that the secret was an accident or self-defense that led to someone's death. I think most of us figured that out. While we don't know Kenny's motive yet - racism and social status seem to be triggers. Unless Kenny's motive is some big shocker or there is another element we don't know - than I think we pretty much know all the major details of this secret. Now that Kenny is potentially dead, what else can we possible learn about this secret from that end? Also, does Joey have any stake on this secret coming out or not? Vernon said that they can get Joey out of this plan if necessary. So does he care or not? So Bill was hired as the fixer after Martin acted in self defense. The cops were paid off by someone to keep this quiet. But why would Joey have paid Malone? So we will have a press conference for Martin to tell us what we already know. I really hope this is more layered than this. Otherwise, this is lame. Also, why cut the Kenny and Smitty interaction short. I was hoping that Kenny might have spilled something more to Smitty that would have added another layer to this secret, but then he told his kids he doesn't know anything. I am hoping I am very wrong, but this would be dumb if this build up and all these men involved gave us this.
  10. And when did Martin regain full recollection of the secret that he is able to hold a press conference about it. And yes to whoever said the press conference at Orphey's was a weird move.
  11. Wouldn't Naomi have Hayley's number in her phone? If she were to put that number in than Hayley's name would come up.
  12. My goodness massive 🙄 I will have to comment on this and how dumb it all feels in a sec. But I had to laugh when Samantha said if he's not here where would he (Martin) go...girl, maybe his wealthy grandparents or parents homes with more than enough rooms.
  13. You don't think this was all about protecting his behind?
  14. I was just going to comment that Vanessa and Dani make better friends than Dani and Pam. And I'm curious how Pam would play against Nicole, because I am sure it would read better than whatever Pam and Dani are giving now.
