Soaps have so many opportunities to cast nonwhite actors in different roles, and they don’t take them. For example, Ashland and Tara on Y&R could have been nonwhite, even with the twist of Kyle being Tara’s baby daddy. (I realize shows need to be careful with “negative” portrayals.)

Exactly!!! Tara could've been of South Asian descent. But then again this show doesn't do right by black or POC in the last decade. Anyone remember Ravi? Juliet?

    Thank you!

And again, I feel these episodes are too Jenny heavy. I am loving them but goodness. TPTB were adamant with shoving her down our throats. At least they were smart to latch her to the Bergmans in order for us to somewhat care.

    You're Welcome!!!

One of the episodes I left off of was when Jenny got knocked out by Ringo(?) I was like they were trying to make her the show's new heroine?

I love seeing Stu still being part of the community but having his own stories since we know in a decade characters his age would get little to no screen time albeit few exceptions. I was quite delighted to see him interacting with Liza. The only time I remember Stu interacting with his granddaughter from the past episodes I saw was the live episode.

And it is great seeing Cynthia Gibb's Suzy and Lisa Peluso's Wendy interacting as stepsisters and best friends. I didn't know Suzy was involved with Warren so early. This makes me miss friendships on soaps especially with two young females starting out in life in adulthood.

@amybrickwallace @NothinButAttitude @Forever8 Guys have you been enjoy the episodes? I've been enjoying them. Rusty's well orchestrated manipulations. To destroy Liza & Travis marriage were pretty good. Had no idea that Jo was falling for Rusty. Also of note Wendy isn't the vixen she was later.

I'm going in order with episodes (2 Episodes in)

Is it just me or were telegraphing Stu had a thing for Jenny? Especially, with those scenes with Stu and the little girl (who was she?{ talking about age-differences.

These set of episodes do have a P&G feeling towards them.

More generally, I think most of the Y&R head writers of the past 10 years struggle with letting go more than any particular character. You have people like Chloe, Kevin, Chelsea, Lauren and Michael (among others) who remain on the show but the writers either don’t use them or don’t have anything compelling to write for them. Still, they remain. The best thing SSM did was writing out Kevin, Chloe and Chelsea because there simply wasn’t a story for them. Now they’re back and they’re still useless.

B&B also has the problem of letting go. Their contract and recurring cast the past five years has been one of the strongest of any soap, but the vast majority it seems like Brad isn’t inspired to write for them. It’s odd because he could easily still keep Hope/Steffy/Liam on the front burner nonstop, but they can’t seem to tell more than one story at once so everybody else languishes and is lucky to get a C tier short term story in the background.

It's sad but I wouldn't be upset if Kevin gets a job in Silicon Valley, and he, Chloe, and the kids move to California. SSM had the right idea to write them out. I mean what is the point of bringing them back if you're not going to use them consistently?

On Another World, it was well established that Mac Cory owned a large international publishing company, but when Steve Frame was introduced in the clip below at the 53 minute mark, it was briefly stated that he worked in construction.  What caught Rachel's attention and impressed her was that he was the owner of Bay City Bengals, a minor league football team.  It seems that this plot was quickly dropped by subsequent writers, but it would have been interesting to focus on the football team, rather than Frame  Construction.  Has any soap ever featured a football team in a storyline?

I believe Asa Buchanan on One Life To Live owned a football team. I think he even dated one of the team's cheerleaders too.

There's tons of potential there. I think we're probably close to having that teen scene. I don't trust Griffith though. Why is this man still employed? CBS has to want these soaps dead.

I'm still surprised that man is still there. It's April tomorrow and I thought he would be gone by February. SMH!!!

Oh good lord I thought I had blocked that out along with that picture of EW Malcolm and his sandwich platter 🤣🤣🤣

Will be interesting to see if see gets any type of story for sure. The stuff involving Reed, Charlie and Maddie was embarrassing. Whatever happened to Shauna anyways, she get shipped back into foster care? Was there ever an explanation of how she left?

I think Shauna went to live with her Aunt if I'm not mistaken?

I would go have and bring on Johnny, Connor, Lucy as teens too. And perhaps another teenage girl unrelated to the canvas to form a teen scene. However, probably due to obvious lack of budget and COVID it probably won't happen. Maybe, Kyle, Jack, Summer and CO. can rebrand Glo By Jabot 20 years later bringing them together.

Johnny can be the "Golden Boy" of both the Newman and Abbott families causing a rivalry with Connor who is the black sheep. Perhaps, Chelsea decides to finally bond with Johnny the son she gave up which can cause drama between she, Billy, and Victoria. Johnny and Connor can also rival over for Lucy's affections.

Chelsea decides to tell Johnny the truth about her being his natural mother but Victoria threatens her not to do so. Connor overhears them two arguing and decides to rub salt in the wound at his brother/cousin revealing it at Johnny's Sweet 16 Birthday Party i.e. Phillip on Guiding Light finding out about him being a Marler.

So much potential with having a teen scene again. I just hope the writers don't screw it up like regimes have been doing for years now.

Wouldn't this whole Vinny situation be the perfect opportunity for Brooke Logan to remember her career in laboratory science?  At the very least she should know how to interpret a validate a test result!

I was hoping she would be involved in this story too. But alas all she does is complain about Thomas to Ridge and encourage her daughter to take back her emotional abuser.
