She was considerably harder than Eva. Assuming it's not just her pissed at seeing her husband with his ex-wife. Randy being related to her was obvious, but it all either being a con or her being totally hard underneath was not what I expected.

Whoo! That's a different side. I did think she was way too much of a mewling simp these whole 7+ months. It would be interesting if that turns out to all have been a play.

June having actually seen the hit and run would be wild, and a good twist. I can't believe I am getting on the June train after wanting to kill her with my mind for months due to her 'Tubi Original adaptation of Raisin in the Sun' performances early on, but she is working for me a lot more now. I guess the old Agnes Nixon staples (rich man with kooky poor woman from the streets) still hold true!

It's not an either/or of two boring, largely personality-less males (Nathan and Chase) vs. Alex Alegria, the worst actor on American daytime television. We can do better than all of the above, but especially AA and Nathan. Nathan's never contributed anything worthwhile or colorful to this show AFAIC. He was better off dead.

They have a vocal but IMO pretty small fanbase. There was never much compelling about Nathan (or Chase) but some people love a Prince Charming and are happy with literal plastic. And yeah. Twitter would make you think every pointless character or couple on the show (Jordan, Nina despite my enjoyment of Watros, Michael/Willow, Dex/Joss, Brennan/Carly) has a massive fanbase. But with most of the more recent characters or couples on modern GH, it's usually not much of one. just small handfuls of loud people, I wouldn't even say Sonny and Nina had a big one either. If Guza was here he'd have smoked them without hesitation.

I feel the same. Spixie won me over again in the last year-plus and it's weird yet typical how they've sort of tossed Spinelli aside in this already. Like Mac, he has raised these children for most of their lives. I highly doubt Paevey can play a villain, but there is also just no story in the old Nathan returning from the dead. He never had much of a personality beyond his pecs. It all feels like a weird excursion grown out of their desperate need to find a workable romance and bigger story for Steve (with KT/Britt), which in turn has led this team back to indulging some of their favorite pastimes - the Obrecht clan, FV's clear lust for Paevey, etc. I'm sure CVE is in hog heaven with these characters, but it's already weighing the show down.

Yes, I've seen that picture. I'm still not convinced the other picture is Laughlin unless there's a caption indicating that it is, but it's certainly possible.

Ehrich's 'kidnapping' story screams bullshít tbqh. Apparently he was eagerly huffing nitrous live on social media while posting explicit stuff. It was a major meltdown.

What's weird is you have her fanbase convinced they are doing that with her. And I think there is an element of it onscreen at times, sure, like when she gets the notes in her room from her evil boss or whoever (probably Evil Nathan, who may now have amnesia idk) and then lashes out at others. Britt is clearly putting up some of a front about what she's gotten herself into. But again, a) KT is very weak at playing any of those layers and b) do you really need to do all that just to 'protect people?' Rage about Rocco to his mother for no reason (oh, she's 'protecting Rocco' who she's barely seen in 10+ years?) and shriek nonstop about your free room and board?

All I'm saying is there are pix of Van Devere floating around from OLTL in almost the same outfit with the same hair. And frankly I've seen her in a lot of films. That looks like her, not Sharon Laughlin.

I hate it and I've never gotten over it. I don't think it's right and I think it should be tended to, even if Tony won't appear again. (And you can do it without trashing Tracy's love for Luke too.) But I've laid out my ideas on this too many times, lol.

Because she does now. Jordan's cheaper (even though she can't act and has no personality) and Frank clearly doesn't want to use Genie or Laura's family much. A few years ago we were all marveling at how central Genie/Laura was as mayor - it was like everyone in town ran every decision through Madame Mayor, lol. I was really pleased with that period for her, even if I didn't like most of the show's stories or direction. She was integral. That changed dramatically in the last year-plus. She's barely there, and her kids were shunted to the side almost immediately after being brought back with major stars. Instead it's the Britt, Nathan, Obrecht, BLQ, etc. show.

I thought the first picture was Trish Van Devere as Meredith. In fact I still think it is. I don't know of any surviving pix or footage of Laughlin as Viki.

Rewatching this (and Interiors) tonight.

I remember those comments, and I felt the same way. I thought Laura was written like a helpless fool a lot of the time in that story, and I hated them all conning her with some fake wedding. Her '08 return I was much happier with. But the early scenes in 2006 when Laura came out of the catatonia and Luke realized and they reunited were beautiful. I could never forget that.

I used to nail her every day for this in 2013 lol. I would name her vague looks into the distance differently in each scene. 'Misty nausea,' etc. It's all she's got!

And even in those interviews in '06 with the anniversary, Tony was still fulsome with praise for Genie and LNL. He said often he prided himself on being the keeper of the flame. I do wonder what happened, though I'm not aware of any falling-out with him and Genie in that period (and I do mean 'in that period' lol). It's just malpractice (again) to me that Alexa and Dominic are not the central couple in that age range. It was a popular couple, she is one of the last breakout ABC Daytime stars and he is no chopped liver either.

They do show vulnerability to Britt at times - oh, it's all her insecurities and deep hurt, or the fanwank that she's just projecting a false front with Lulu to protect Rocco from her secret, etc. They started doing that more near the time she first got involved with Jason, though RC did also try to soften her prior (poorly). The problem is the writing just isn't good enough, and KT isn't good enough either. She just mopes and I don't buy it or care when she gets sad and shows she's just trying to 'be strong.' The other side of Britt is not deep or complex enough to overcome how loathsome she can be when she's supposedly 'hurting'. Like I said a couple weeks ago, by the time she reveals what she's covering for re: her resurrection no one will care given how awful she's been to Lulu, Dante, etc.

I don't remember that. I know he was friendly with Tammy because he'd grown up around the life with Bobbie and Ruby, and there were intimations that Luke had lost his virginity, etc. to hookers. It's possible but I only remember that stuff coming out of Tony's increasingly bitter interviews in the mid-late 2000s. I absolutely despised Sarah's Carly many times in the '90s but I couldn't stop watching her. She could be so foul (especially to Robin) but she was consistently mesmerizing and visceral. Eventually that became me just accepting I was a fan of this deeply flawed, often ugly character. They had a lot of courage to put some of that stuff over, and according to Mulcahey she was also very controversial BTS. A unique choice, but accurate!

The caliber of the day to day writing was also a hundred times more layered. I don't think Luke's revisionist issues with family ever really applied to Lucky and Lulu when JJ was around in the '90s, or when they had Julie in the role where she was a major part of his life - he would grumble about that stuff by then, but she was a central young leading lady, even when I found most of her stories tedious. When the creative regime was invested in the characters or actors they didn't ever make them an afterthought. And it was only after Genie's brief return in '06 and whatever happened there or after that Luke really went all in on turning into Bill Eckert. Up til then Tony was a very dedicated keeper of the flame onscreen and off, in interviews. But even then JMB's Lulu was a priority for the show, and Jonathan was when he returned the first time. The Guza regime weren't treating them with casual disinterest then the way Frank clearly is (and the way they certainly did with Greg Vaughan). Alexa and Dominic should be leading the show, to say nothing of the Lucky debacle.

Pretty much. Do I think a brief discussion of Britt's friendship with Spencer would be understandable? Sure. Is it some core part of her character? No. IIRC the Pickle Lila heirloom to Tracy from Edward was misunderstood at the time - it was his message to her to forge her own path, which she later understood (even if didn't really go anywhere). I suspect Monica meant it in that spirit, but I do find the gag a bit tedious.
