  1. I get around that by simply avoiding these shows like the plague.
  2. LOL! We should really nuke our old blog from the face of the earth.
  3. Not just any woman of color, but a dark-skinned one, which is rarely seen on daytime today. I think that is a big factor too. If Trina was mixed they'd be making out right now. But really, you don't need to take it from me. Our Black posters can talk about it. I have always said Ava is a stone cold killer. That's how she came on the show, leaving Connie/Kate to bleed out on the floor. Any time they try to make her nice or a heroine I don't buy it. She is bad news. She can have pathos and layers but she is a snake. I am fine with MW being on the show in that capacity, I enjoy the dark side of the Nikolas/Ava relationship when it is played or scripted well (rare), but not when they defang her and make her a 'good' character. Right now she's in a bit more of the grey area than she has been in the past, so it's workable even if I don't buy her cozy relationships with Laura, etc. Someday she'll have to go out in a blaze of glory. Obrecht, OTOH, I have always felt has no business permanently on the canvas. She is a recurring villain.
  4. And furthermore: GH (12/30/2022): Who needs frontburner LGBT stories when you have Heterosexual Dr. Britt's super gay birthday party? She's so fierce and snarky, right? Sure, she has about two speeds acting-wise but that's all you need! Remember when we forced everyone to call her the Brittch all the time? Gay guys loved that, right? Look at these strippers! George Michael! Brad! It's so gay and fierce without the inconvenient need for actual gay storylines and contract players!!I Slay, queen hahahahaha GH (1/5/2023): Britt's dead!
  5. Credit where it's due: Eden McCoy was very good with William Lipton today. Lipton is always excellent. It's GH's fault for not securing him on a contract, but that doesn't have to mean he can't get major story. AFAIK Kathleen Gati, useless JPS and half the cast are off contract. If they want to commit to Cameron they can do so. It is a choice, but Frank (and GH before him) has always has a aversion to the homegrown 'good' characters, always is chasing the next pointless hardbody. Dex, Brando, etc. are interchangeable to me. Speaking of Gati, she did not shed a single tear during Britt's death scene. I watched closely. Embarrassing. I know she's a better actor than that, even if I have never bought and never will buy Obrecht's face turn. I can buy her evolving a bit re: her children, but I think she will always be a psycho and will default to abuse and insanity if she's ever pushed. Chavez and Tabyana Ali are still excellent together. It is embarrassing how many obstacles they have thrown at a young, super-popular interracial pairing to keep them from physically touching lips for the better part of two years. This would not have happened 20 years or even 30 years ago, when GH often did Black/white romances that were physically demonstrative onscreen, so I have to conclude at this point it's not coincidence. The young white couples don't wait this long to share a kiss. IIRC Chavez has a year left on his contract. Sight unseen I am willing to bet they are hoping to run out the length of his contract and minimize Spencer and Trina's onscreen intimacy as much as possible. That's how [!@#$%^&*] regressive and bigoted ABCD/GH and elements of this country have become over the last 20 years, that GH now feels it has to highly scrub and sanitize even interracial romance in the [!@#$%^&*] 2020s like they're enforcing COVID protocols. Believe me, I'd love to be wrong. I imagine Spencer and Trina might (might!!) finallly kiss in February, and if the show suddenly flips the switch then and has them hardcore intimate full-time from then on nothing would make me happier. But this feels calculated. YMMV.
  6. I don't know if they're doing that per se - I think most of the public and much of the press finds it an absurd shitshow - but I do think the Beltway outfits most enamored of "Republican savvy" like Jake Sherman at Punchbowl/Politico, etc. keep breathlessly reporting on each round's tally like it's the most exciting game ever, again because of a masculine sports-oriented mindset, as though they're under the illusion that any minute the fever will break and the 'savvy GOP' will return. That's the embarrassing part to me, that they seem to be missing the forest for the trees not fully grasping how their favored tipsters are immolating themselves while the GOP keeps humiliating the party as a whole.
  7. Adblock. For years.
  8. This was pretty obvious for several years. Watching Noah try to pass himself off as str8 IRL was mortifying, but I always thought he didn't know yet and would just figure himself out over time. Either way, good for him.
  9. This whole hysterical exercise is also important in that it forces/shames the Beltway into reporting more thoroughly, if not entirely honestly, on the dysfunction of the GOP. In so much lazy 'both sides' reporting there is still often a preexisting right-leaning frame of 'the disorganized, messy libs' vs. the 'savvy, principled mature conservatives' the Beltway loves to believe are somehow still deep inside the core of the Republican Party. There is also a masculine, sports-oriented predisposition to the 'savvy' displayed by men like McConnell or Boehner and a disinterest in the content of their conduct or votes. This mess dismantles all of that in the eyes of the public, not forever but at least for the duration of this farce. There is no place the Beltway media outlets can take this story that does not make the GOP look ridiculous. Period.
  10. How is Dante still having the 'how can I be a cop and love Sonny' conversation in the year of our Lord 2023? How many times have we had this talk? Can this character not evolve to some sort of equilibrium that makes sense either on one side of the line or the other, or decide (as I believe he did by the end of Guza's run) that he will work with Sonny on some things because of the devil you know but keep a careful eye? How long is this going to go on? Dante and Sam are basically C-listers now and I never thought that would happen. Poor DZ. And Kelly finally looks old.
  11. This is even funnier than I expected in November. And I expected it to go badly for McCarthy.
  12. I've been wondering about this for awhile. Is there literally any indication she's interested?
  13. He can still get it! Speaking of OLTL, I don't think anyone has found a recent pic of Ellen Bethea since Obama was sworn in. And believe me, I've looked.
  14. Vee replied to DRW50's topic in Primetime & Streaming
There have been credible rumors of Carole Ann Ford and/or Susan appearing next year for awhile. I hope this is a true hint.
  15. I think it's more a recent, 2000s-2010s, etc. latter-day issue that we have paternity/maternity stories that seem anemic, pointless and endless. There's nothing wrong with a baby story or a WTP story in theory, they are classic soap staples. But it's when everyone has one of them over and over, or multiple pregnancies for young vibrant men or women, or when the 'who is my secret child/parent' for adult kids stories go on forever with minimal interest like this that it screams what it's rumored to be: One of the only permissible storylines at network soaps, cowed today by what they believe to be a largely older-skewing, conservative white audience in an age of more moral puritanism, where they are straining to hold on to what they believe to be their only shrinking loyal audience.
  16. I have never cared about either of their bloodlines and still don't. Longtime fans do not need a child taken away from Taggert for Curtis the Epcot Center Greeter. And it's honestly a C-level storyline no one has interest in for older adult Black characters the show has no frontburner investment in. Willow is a complete nonentity to me, in addition to my never, ever caring about Nina's secret child since they began hinting about it before Michelle Stafford even appeared onscreen (and I suspect back then that the plan was for Kristen Alderson's Kiki to turn out to be hers). I am convinced GH only does these boring parental stories for the same reason current soaps (and GH especially) allegedly do so many baby stories: They are among the only 'safe' middle America material that the network will easily greenlight, and they fill airtime. They're cruising.
  17. I was advocating for him getting a secret kid not long ago! But not by Dominique.
  18. As egregious and bizarre as I think Heather and Ryan Chamberlain mating and having a twentysomething child is, I thought they said Heather was on the run or released when she met Ryan in the wilderness and they had an affair. I can buy that even if the age issue with Heather being her biological mother is frankly sketchy at best (and two giant psychos having a psycho kid is just dumb IMO). The Dominique/Mac thing just does not make sense and is an insult to people's intelligence. IIRC the recast gap was not nearly long enough. But they don't give a shít.
  19. I still don't understand how he can be Mac's son by Dominique. Didn't Dominique and Mac first meet onscreen, in 1991, and she wasn't offscreen for any extended period between then and her death? Or was there a prior romance?
  20. I will bet cash money they may try to pair Austin and Liz at some point. Liz is the one-stop shop for any actor the show is desperate to put over. She is Howard Johnson's.
  21. Not sometimes, often. Or because they just have abs or are blonde.
  22. Keep your head on a swivel in these spelling bee streets!
  23. Aidan, like a lot of other players in that era, lasted because he was hot, white and male/able to be serviceable as a utility stud in any number of C-stories. They probably wanted him for his Q rating or something from focus groups, I think Aiden Turner came from some saucy ads or a British soap or something Frons liked, and then they fed him to literally every third or fourth-tier female player that came in for almost a decade. It was bizarre.
