At that moment I was just wondering where Paul Ryan was, since he had been missing since the Biden debate. Until he turned up onstage at the end I was half-convinced he had fallen prey to the Crisis on Infinite Earths and been erased from continuity.

My favorite stuff since the election has been Glenn Beck's long, teary monologue about George Washington and Thomas Paine in the darkest days of the founding of America. That dude is so damn crazy.

You look at what they were doing with "Project ORCA" - programming the computer matrix with 'their' polls and Rasmussen, etc. - and how their technology and on-the-day effort fell apart and you realize these people just are not that bright. And we already had impressions of that weeks, months back, with how some of Romney's top people utterly failed to stage manage the Eastwood debacle, Libya, etc.

All that bullshit aside, I suspect Karl Rove had even more reason to be surprised - we know how he made his name, and I'm sure he was well briefed on Husted's efforts in Ohio, the whole truth of which we may never know. I suspect they tried to fix Ohio and couldn't make it work.

They'd also set up a huge fireworks display at Boston Harbor to go off during his victory speech.

Oh, it gets better than that! Check this [!@#$%^&*] out! They were unskewing their own [!@#$%^&*] polls. And then there was that "Project ORCA," their cheap-ass response to Obama for America's GOTV effort - basically, send a bunch of people out to the polls on Election Day and then get THEM to get out the vote at the last minute. Give me a fuckin' break. Their app for that (EDIT: actually not an app - a mobile-optimized website a bunch of confused Republicans called 'an app' that was improperly set up) broke down on many phones and then crashed entirely. And used - again - those same 'unskewed' polls in its computer program.

I think the majority of the media is acknowledging Obama won handily and that the electorate has changed forever. Even otherwise conservative pundits on the networks.

Chris Matthews can be a blowhard, but he's a good guy. He loves Obama. He just has a bee in his bonnet on a few specific things he would've done. Fine. We all do. He'll get over it. He's very happy - anyone who saw him in the last few days or weeks knows that.

I've loved Joe Biden for many years, long before 2008. He is salt of the earth, a champion of the working man, a very seasoned and battle-hardened politician who knows how to make government work, and just a fine, fine man. I don't know if he'll run, but people in the press belittling his outsize persona underestimate him at their peril.

Most media outlets are saying it is a commanding victory. I can't wait for Joe Scarborough to show up hung over tomorrow morning. Or next week. Looking forward to his new mustache.
