Bill Cosby
For some reason, I was under the impression some of the older stories, the older accusers were predominantly black. Here and now these stories are from a flush of white women, but I haven't broken down how many of the victims are what race.

Janice appears to have pictures of said "patchwork robe." Again, just to play devil's advocate, it's a picture of the man on the phone. But it does corroborate.

Two more. ...aaand one more recent.

Doctor Who
I would be more worried about it if the BBC brass weren't out touting the new series as a huge victory, which they are. (I am also hearing Series 9 is 13 episodes.) I first noticed the article above over at Gallifrey Base, and most of the commenters there noted that its language seemed slanted to try and prove some thesis. I just feel that if you can make both the long-standing UK fanbase and the perennially anguished American critics who have never gotten over the changing of the guard happy - and they all are happy, for once - then it's a triumph. There are also wild rumors that Missy/the Master is the Doctor's companion, or at least one of them, for the back half of the upcoming series, but whoooo knows.

Doctor Who
I know you prefer to be cautious but I have seen zero indication that he is either concerned about the BBC or that the BBC is concerned about him. I don't think he's going anywhere for a good long time. He's just being humble re: the audience, which has embraced him for the most part. And I think the response to this series has been largely very, very positive, especially compared to some of the controversy over Series 7 or 6 (my favorite in years, until now). Everything I have seen indicates that a lot of people think it is a massive shot in the arm for the show, which seemed a bit scattered in S7.

The Politics Thread
Well, there's nothing they can do about it. According to the NYT's analysis, their options are limited. There's a lot of problems with America today, but there's plenty of people in this country who are all for this and more. Most of them stopped listening to most of the Beltway pundits a long time ago. It's good news - take a moment.

Thrilling news. He basically dared them to stop him.

Aaand one more story that has some alleged details I didn't know, while also rounding up the old info on stuff like the Autumn Jackson scandal, etc.

Bill Cosby
This is a story I had difficulty reading, and one that goes to the heart of why I think FOX and white conservatives are suddenly lining up to defend Cosby's rep. While I think Cosby once made some valid points, he has, unfortunately, spent much of the last decade-plus (and longer, judging by the linked article) allowing himself to be the stalking horse for white Republican pundits to shame a lot of people. As in, "hey, Bill Cosby said it..." Tangentially related to the conservative movement issue: Ta-Nehisi Coates' fascinating piece about Cosby and his controversial "call-out" speeches from 2008, which Coates references in his wonderful new article about the allegations which marceline linked a page or two back.

I mean, to play devil's advocate it can be explained in another way, sure. But I believe her story. It's too harrowing.

I have loved Whoopi Goldberg's comedy and many of her performances. I also think she behaves like a complete idiot when talking about a lot of these celebrities. I was embarrassed and ashamed for her and Rosie Perez, both of whom I like a lot. I liked that new line-up (except Nicolle Wallace), it's too bad if it's going down the tubes.

But wait - there's more.

Following his fairly embarrassing Terminator: Genisys (actual spelling) photoshoot with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, Matt Smith has signed to do a zombie picture with another GOT star, Natalie Dormer.

Here's another one - with paperwork. Harrowing Q&A.

HBO: Game of Thrones
Well, he's his father's hatchet man in the North so I think it's less a question of popularity and more of his being a needed character vis a vis the game's story, which is largely set in the North following the Red Wedding. Here is a rundown of the characters revealed today, five of which are the player characters. It's unclear which ones, but I'm pretty sure young Mira Forrester is one of them, hence the King's Landing segment of the game. According to her bio she is a handmaiden to Margaery Tyrell and I believe she can be shown approaching Cersei in the teaser.

HBO: Game of Thrones
Lena Headey narrates the first teaser for Telltale Games' GOT game. I'm glad they were able to get the stars to voice these supporting roles, as you are playing original characters in the game. They've also begun releasing details about the characters (one is an outcast son of the House, currently a sellsword in Essos; two others are a squire and House Forrester's Master-at-Arms), but I'll spare the thread much more as I'm not sure anyone is nearly so much of a geek as me. A new press release does confirm that Lena, Peter Dinklage, Natalie Dormer and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Snow) all voice their characters in-game, with "additional cast members" from the show in later episodes.

That sounds like a hootin' good time in the Ozarks, but most scam artists in other parts of the country have more substantive goals for their grift.

Bill Cosby
ThinkProgress has published a lengthy round-up of stuff, most of which you have likely seen. At the bottom of the link, however, is a video, raw footage of an AP interview in which Cosby is asked about the allegations and then says he thought the AP "had the integrity not to ask."

Bill Cosby
Hannibal Burress is a trip. I've seen him around, on TV and in films, but I haven't watched much of his Adult Swim show. Speaking of Baratunde Thurston, I did wonder what had become of J&J Politics. All I know about the Lisa Bonet thing (or wanted to know) is that the word was that he had supposedly made advances or something, and she'd rebuffed him. I'm sure there is more to the allegation than that. Bill Cosby has not been directly challenged like this in, I'm not sure how many decades. Sooner or later he is going to have to do exactly what he refuses to do, which is deal with the public on their terms, or retire from public life.

That part I know, but this was very specific information that I don't think they've mentioned yet. Maybe they won't.

The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
I had read something from a source claiming to know about this season that Daryl would be revealed to have been abused and thus not be paired with anyone "any time soon". I dismissed it as fanfic, until now. Interesting episode. Wonderful work by both actors.
