  1. This little nugget found its way on my FB feed. These people are crazy. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/01/michele-bachmann-obama_n_6986936.html?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000063
  2. I read another article on this guy. He's divorced. When asked how that reconciles with his religion, he said he's still "working through it". Ugh. I often wonder, if the paradigm were shifted and it were fundamentalist Christians being denied services, how would they react?
  3. Ha! http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/nationworld/chi-indiana-freedom-law-20150401-story.html
  4. Hopefully the fallout from Indiana will give other governors pause before signing off on such idiotic legislation. A "religious freedom bill" is nothing but legalizing discrimination, straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak): The perils Hutchinson faces were made clear Tuesday morning when Pence insisted he'd "fix" Indiana's law to make sure it doesn't allow businesses like Christian florists or bakers to turn away gay and lesbian customers -- which the bill's conservative supporters had said was one of their chief goals. Wouldn't it be interesting to see what would happen if a service provider somewhere decided not to do business with a religious conservative because they didn't agree with thier "lifestyle"? http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/31/politics/arkansas-religious-freedom-anti-lgbt-bill/index.html
  5. I want a Republican to give specific examples to explain why the President is a "threat" to this country. It's frustrating.
  6. Thanks for reposting. How sad.
  7. I'm getting a page not found error on that link. I'd like to read the article if you can repost??
  8. Hey Suds, they appeared to have genuinely supported the idea of gay marriage. I believe that me and my bf have made a difference on our lil street. I've heard many times "you're not at all what I thought you'd be like" and we're so "conservative" (NOT). I think they expected 2 gay guys to out partyin all the time and dressing like girls, or acting like girls. Sigh. So I'm not sure if they're two faced on gay marriage. I believe they support it, just not on the ballot! That's exactly my thoughts, marce. Good points, Julia. They are most definitely "pro life" (God, I hate that term. Like pro choice supporters are anti-life?). Anyway, they are fiscally conservative as well. BUT, they are middle class folks. The right aren't going to do anything for them. And sadly, they watch Fox and take everything broadcast on that channel as gospel. I still can't help but feel betrayed. In my mind, equality trumps whatever small financial gain you THINK might gain by voting for republicans.
  9. Is anyone else getting tired of this he said/she said bullshit between The White House and Captial Hill? It's exhausting. My neighbors, with whom my partner and I have lived next to for 10 years, are die hard republicans. The entire time gay marriage was illegal in Florida, they empathized with us (outwardly), but come Election Day, checked every box that had an "R" beside it. Am I right to consider that a betrayal? My hubby says no. But it bothers me. It's starting to make me look at them differently.
  10. Glenn did everything he could to save Deanna's son. AFTER he was left for dead by the other chicken [!@#$%^&*] Alexandria resident. I'd say that's a pretty damn good deed. Abraham fought like hell to save the girl at the construction site. Another good one, IMO. (Not that I give a [!@#$%^&*] about Abraham, but still...) There have been no outward signs of aggression or hostility from Daryl, Maggie, Carl, Mishcone and some of the others. The instigator here is primarily Carol. She has Rick's ear, but he seems more interested in kicking the abusive guy's ass, not taking over the town. He didn't ask to be the sherriff, he was appointed that job. Gabriel is sickening. Obviously, he'd be long gone if not for Rick's group. And I think you're onto something - the man is losing it. It seems to me that the residents of Alexandria are incredibly incompetent at survival (as witnessed on Monday's show) or are very good at it (Aaron is a great shot), with no in-betweens. I hope/wish that we'll get some backstory of how this settlement came to be and how this group of people ended up together.
  11. Paul Anthony Stewart brought his show to Orlando "Nice N Easy" http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/arts-and-theater/os-paul-anthony-stewart-cabaret-review-matthew-j-palm-20150317-story.html
  12. This is fucked up. What a depressing, disturbing story.
  13. ^^^ I see what you're saying about the drama. But it seems that everyday there is a story of someone pissed off at the Pres because of something he's proposed or signed. It has been drama free IRT his personal life. But as Pres? Not so much. That's not to say I don't support the man 100%. I love me some Obama. I just wish that every. single. thing. Wasn't beaten up so much by Congress and the media.
  14. Yea, Hilary should just keep on doing her thing. This is a non-issue. Here's another completely idiotic statement by a potential GOP candidate. I've heard other things this guy has said, and he's out there. Someone will still vote for his dumb ass though, I'm sure. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/presidential-contender-ben-carson-prisons-135032512.html
  15. Does the right purposefully think of outrageous things to say just to make headlines? I hope they don't seriously believe this bullshit. And yet there are intelligent, seemingly critical thinkers, friends of mine, that vote for this party? It amazes me.
  16. Really? What in the hell does all this mean, anyway? Nothing. The right purposefully uses these ambiguous phrases to make headlines. It's all smoke and mirrors as far as I'm concerned. IMHO, President Obama "loves America" (whatever the hell that means) a lot more than the warmonger G.W.
  17. Thanks DRW. Great comparison with the respective matriarchs!
  18. My first and favorite soap of all time is GL, but I've always been inclined to watch the other CBS shows. Of course, ATWT aired before GL so often times, I'd watch at least the last half hour most everyday. But, did ATWT always seem to be a little more stuffy, or formal, compared to GL? That was the feeling I always got from the show and wondered how others feel?
  19. News is on in the background. So am I hearing this right? Both parties think the Presidents plan for ISIL isn't comprehensive?? Sigh.

More backstage drama. Apparently Whoopi was on the chopping block before Rosie resigned... http://blackamericaweb.com/2015/02/10/the-view-was-about-to-fire-whoopi-until-rosie-odonnell-quit/
  21. The President is asking Congress to authoize war against ISIL. It's time. They are a threat to every country in the world. But does this request go far enough? Someone commented on the article in the local paper, Orlando Sentinel, that they "wished" IS would do something to a Russian national, because Putin would not hesitate to bomb the holy !@#$%^&*] outta them. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-seeks-war-authorization-congress-fight-islamic-state-141751569.html;_ylt=A0LEVjJueNtUVRsAkZonnIlQ
  22. That [!@#$%^&*] is scary. I can't help but wonder if they are taking these idiotic positions simply because the president supports vaccinations? What the f.uck do they gain? Are the majority of anti-vaxxers republicans? I just don't understand why the issue has been politicized. Rand Paul is a doctor, for christ sake. smh. Tillis needs to shut his pie hole. Actually, I want him to eat a pizza made by a restaurant worker after they have dropped a deuce and didn't bother to wash up. Idiot.

She makes an excellent point that date rape was not defined or a "thing" in that time. Would the police have believed her story if she would have went to them? How would she describe what happened? It would help to explain why some of these women did not report the rape to police. Makes sense to me...
  24. I don't get that at all. Discussion usually centers around "you feel like you could have a beer with them". I'm sorry, but I would prefer to have a beer with a person that could engage in thoughtful conversation while doing so.
